Our guest today is Seandra Pope, the founder and CEO of Rooted Consulting Group, a strategic advisory consulting firm that works with organizations to help them reach consensus about how they want to address racial equity and diversity. 

 

In our conversation, Seandra explains how her diverse family background and her journey have given her a unique perspective that empowers her work in facilitating tough but necessary conversations about race and equity.

 

Seandra wants to change the narrative and normalize her experiences and her family’s makeup. That desire moves her to share her story, especially when facing challenges. She emphasizes how important it is to understand your own story to express your voice effectively. She also talks about the assumptions people might have about her, reminding us that everyone has multiple identities and that we can miss significant nuances if we are not open to different points of view.

 

In her work, dialogue leads to creative solutions, that’s why she focuses on creating spaces where diverse perspectives can be discussed respectfully. Seandra highlights how "caring enough to want to listen" is crucial for difficult dialogues and consensus building.
