SPEAKER_02 (00:39):
Buckle up and enjoy
the ride.
You never know who's driving orwhere we're headed.
All we know is it's always a funride.
And we ain't driving.
SPEAKER_01 (00:47):
We ain't driving, we
sliding inside.
SPEAKER_02 (00:49):
It's this old cruise
control headed in the wrong
direction.
SPEAKER_01 (00:53):
I know, and we we
have to be live in the Nested
Big app in 36 minutes.
So it's gonna be a short episodetoday.
I don't know, but you know it'shere we are.
Um, so it's gonna be a shortepisode, but you know what?
That's fine.
At least we can have a therapysession and whatever.
(01:14):
Next week's episode is our lastone for the year.
Because then it gets a littlecrazy.
Because from there we goChristmas, New Year's, Atlanta.
And we're you we're traveling,we're going on trips.
Atlanta, and then we'll pick upafter Atlanta.
We'll be telling you what we gotfor the new year.
(01:36):
When we come back, we will havebought Christmas for 2026.
I am ready.
SPEAKER_02 (01:43):
I'm ready to go to
the two as well.
Because this year, this year, Ithink it was on point.
We did really good.
SPEAKER_01 (01:53):
Pat ourselves on the
back.
SPEAKER_02 (01:55):
The stores did
really well.
The employees did.
I mean, I just couldn't behappy.
SPEAKER_01 (02:00):
Yeah, it's been a
great season.
Yeah.
I know I was thinking.
It's been the best.
I know.
I was thinking about, which wecan talk about next year.
That'd be our wrap-up for theyear end.
But I was thinking back,literally, I was like, I
remember talking about last yearat the end of the year, how we
were like it was a turbulentyear.
Hopefully, this is better.
This was a turbulent year too,but we'll talk about that more.
Um, because we are in the ho hoho down right now of the holiday
(02:24):
season.
Yeah, it's been crazy.
Um, anything exciting beenhappening?
I said, Do you have anything forour podcast?
SPEAKER_02 (02:31):
He said, No, I
didn't even know we were doing
one until I haven't had a dayoff since like middle of
October, literally.
Which is fine.
You know, I signed up for this.
So did you.
This is what we do.
It is yeah, it's what we do,it's just the way it is.
But, you know, um, I may lookincredibly young, but I'm not.
(02:56):
My old ass is tyranny.
But it has been, even Dylansaid, you know, I don't know
what's different about thisyear, but he said, physically, I
think you have held yourself upbetter.
Yeah than in years.
SPEAKER_01 (03:12):
We've gotten in the
group where literally everything
this far, I'll say this in thewhole roof of fall in or
something, but it has been busybut smooth.
Yes.
So that makes a difference whenthere's not the friction.
We do have like we have oursystems kind of.
SPEAKER_02 (03:30):
And like McDonald's,
this is Holt McDonald's.
Oh, here we go.
We've got we've had people intheir places.
It's like McDonald's from 12p.m.
to 2 p.m.
Everybody asks us where they go,people in their places.
SPEAKER_01 (03:45):
If you do it, it's
gonna run like we're firing on
all cylinders.
Yeah.
But you know, one of thosecylinders will blow out
tomorrow.
We'll have a tire fly off andend up in my wind in my wind
through my windshield in my lab.
Exactly.
But so far, but I think that'smade the difference because I'm
in the sail mode, live cellmode, and I love that.
(04:06):
And it's all fun to me when it'snot friction.
Where it's not like, oh shit, this is falling apart, but we
got to be over here.
But you know, because we haveyears like that, plenty of years
like that.
We're most years where but thisyear it's been firing and
smooth.
We've been getting orders overto the retail stores, restock,
(04:26):
they look amazing.
Online's been busy.
It's we got our shipping caughtup right on time.
So it has been.
But anyway, that's good.
SPEAKER_02 (04:37):
Our good customers
and a great and great employees.
And great employees for sure.
We are very, we're very blessedwith amazing employees and
amazing customers.
Yeah.
And there's all you know, there's always a few pain in the
asses trickled in on both sides.
But you know, that's why.
It is like but we are very, weall jokes aside, we're very
(04:58):
fortunate.
Yeah.
Um, but what we're notfortunate, what I'm not
fortunate of is I haven't done adamn thing for Christmas.
SPEAKER_01 (05:07):
I have not bought
one gift.
Nothing.
Only thing I do feel good.
I so I did, because this yearhad gone like so smoothly, I
printed out the live, I printedout October, November, and
December calendar.
And I made notes from when wedid things.
Like when I had my housedecorated, when we did a live
(05:27):
from my house.
When I had mine.
Yeah.
I went, I had to go back andwatch all my Instagram stories
because I couldn't evenremember.
I was like, wait, when did I dothis?
So I tried to go through myInstagram story archive to see,
like, okay, I was talking aboutwe're gonna do this and this.
So I made notes because it wentum so smooth.
So I'm very happy with we gotfor me, we both got our houses
(05:52):
done early this year on time, the way we think we're going to
every year, but it finallyhappened.
So that's been all set and nice.
Like my house is not felt indisarray like a lot, like
normally I feel like it's justnow like okay, it's it is what
it is, or not complete.
Yes, I've had a calmness when Igo home.
Yes.
Because everything's good and inplace, calm.
SPEAKER_02 (06:16):
Yeah.
So that's been good.
The problem is with the onlyproblem I have right now is all
the presents under my tree arefake.
SPEAKER_01 (06:24):
So that's what I'm
saying.
So all of that's good, but Ihaven't bought one gift.
Nothing.
I'm not sure it's gonna happen.
SPEAKER_02 (06:32):
I mean heaven if
heaven forbid, if I got if I get
the flu or COVID knock on woodthat that would be.
Why did you have to bring thatup?
I'm just saying it's not gonnahappen.
It's no.
SPEAKER_01 (06:44):
Because it's just
I've never in my life.
Well, it also shouldn't happenbecause we haven't been anywhere
except for home in thewarehouse.
So you haven't even been aroundpeople.
You haven't even taken yourCharlotte trip to the stuff
right over here from the Nestwarehouse.
Oh, I well, you know, that's thefirst shopping.
(07:07):
I know, right?
Um, I do have an ick this week.
What is an ick?
What ick do you have?
But I don't know, it's becomenot so popular, but popular
enough.
I don't want to really hurtanybody's feelings.
But so this isn't a per this isa personal opinion.
(07:30):
I cannot stand.
This is I don't like her either.
No, the permanent Christmaslights that people are putting
on their houses.
Ooh.
Don't do that.
And I know people are spendinggood money doing this, but it
look it does not look likeChristmas lights.
(07:53):
It looks commercial, it lookslike a McDonald's.
SPEAKER_02 (07:56):
Yeah, or uh a bar or
something.
And here's the other thing I'lltell y'all from a real estate
standpoint.
And if you go to sell your home, that shit's gotta come down.
Uh that is not a sellingfeature.
Yeah.
SPEAKER_01 (08:10):
It's just not and
and then they're like, and you
can change it different fordifferent seasons.
And you know what that's theequivalent of?
Having a Christmas tree andtrying to make it look like
Easter or your Valentine's tree.
Stupid.
It looks dumb.
I just I try, I genuinely try tolike it because I love
technology.
(08:32):
There are people doing that?
Yes, a lot of people.
I've seen houses near me, moreof them have it, but I've seen a
lot on Instagram and like someof the like you know, bigger
accounts and stuff, and I'mlike, it just looks wrong wrong.
And one day I'll probably likeit because I feel like they'll
get it right.
(08:52):
It needs to be spaced out.
SPEAKER_02 (08:55):
I don't like that
stuff permanent fixed on a
house.
Yeah.
SPEAKER_01 (08:59):
I mean, it gets into
maintenance issues, it looks but
it doesn't even the people whohave it, it doesn't look
Christmas holiday cheerful.
It looks like commercial, acommercial.
And so I'm just like just don'tdo it.
Like, don't waste your money onit.
But that might be a wrong thingto say because I'm sure
(09:21):
someone's like, Well, I do itand I love mine.
Well, and that's you know what?
SPEAKER_02 (09:25):
That's you.
But also these people that haveblue and purple hair, they
probably love it too, but Ithink it's as wrong as can be.
But you know, it's not about me.
That's why there's chocolate,vanilla, and strawberry ice
cream.
It ain't it, you know, it ain'tthe Stephen show.
It's it ain't the Wesley show.
SPEAKER_03 (09:45):
It should be.
Yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (09:46):
Well, I mean, I
think it should be, but I look
at what some people are doing.
SPEAKER_01 (09:49):
I'm like, I just,
yeah, that's my I've seen it a
lot this week.
Like, I got my permanent lightsinstalled, and I'm like, that's
right up there with those uhflesh-colored leggings.
You know what I would do?
This is honest.
If you were gonna spend thatmoney and you want your house to
look good, what you really needto do is get good landscape
(10:11):
lighting instead.
That makes a difference all yearlong.
SPEAKER_02 (10:15):
Doesn't have to
actually adds to the value of
your home and a selling featureof your home, curb appeal.
Right.
Because that shit, thatChristmas like shit, that would
hurt yourself.
Yeah.
You have to get rid of it.
Yeah.
And I look at everything as see,I I look at everything with the
home as resale, right?
(10:36):
Kerb appeal, resale.
How does this affect?
Is it a waste?
SPEAKER_01 (10:39):
It's a waste.
Yeah, it is.
And it doesn't even give theeffect, but I know you're really
wanting.
What you're wanting is to nothave to string up Christmas
lights every year.
Well, then just don't do it.
Don't do it.
Or just do a spotlight in youryard and light up your front
door.
Yeah, put a pretty wreath on it,keep it simple.
You don't have to do a lightlighted wreath.
Yeah, big pretty bow on it.
(11:01):
Just right over here.
Do one tree in your yard.
Something like that.
Yeah, keep it simple.
SPEAKER_02 (11:06):
I mean, you don't
have to go all Clark Griswold
out there.
I know.
I mean, I I I do think it'sreally fun.
Like the child in me when Idrive by and see the Clark
Griswold Christmas vacationhouses.
SPEAKER_01 (11:24):
Oh, yeah, my mom's
neighborhood does that.
Is it colored lights all overthe bushes?
Celia, I know you're listening.
She gets the best house in theneighborhood.
She did she said, Do you need totake a picture?
SPEAKER_02 (11:36):
Oh, yeah.
You've never sent me a picture.
SPEAKER_01 (11:39):
Oh, I haven't.
Oh, they go all out.
They have lights.
Not all the house, but a lot ofthe house.
But I love that.
And it's fine.
Children love it.
Yeah.
It's more, they do it more ontheir landscape than on the
house, but just the, you know,it's their bushes and landscape.
But that's the way it's Yeah.
(12:00):
It's really pretty.
SPEAKER_02 (12:01):
So you know, um,
there's a mansion up right up
from the mill.
I won't call it out because Idon't I don't I don't care.
Um here we go, getting canceledfor 2026.
There's a mansion right up fromthe mill.
I won't say who lives there, buty'all know the house if you live
in Greenville.
Um it's a mansion.
(12:22):
It used to be a mortuary.
Looks like a mortuary becausethey didn't do it right.
Um I mean, it's it well, I mean,there it's just wrong.
Yeah.
Anyway, they have urns out frontprobably 42, 4 42 to 48 inches
(12:44):
in diameter.
SPEAKER_01 (12:44):
Yeah.
And they have looks like thesize of a kitchen table.
SPEAKER_02 (12:48):
Yes.
Which is in scale.
It should be.
Yeah.
But planted in there is a littlearborvide, and it's about 18
inches tall.
SPEAKER_01 (13:00):
Oh, we got the case.
So they got the containers inscale, but the planting's this
tall.
SPEAKER_02 (13:06):
It looks like this
coffee cup sitting in the place.
So well, that's bad enough.
SPEAKER_01 (13:11):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (13:12):
But they string
lights on anything they can get
lights on.
Oh.
And they've got it around thoselittle trees, and they're this
big.
So it looks like you've taken abig wad of Christmas lights and
just dropped them in the middleof that big error.
I just I want to leave a notefor them because you know, they
(13:34):
have some money.
You wouldn't have that house ifyou didn't.
But you know, money don't buyyou taste.
SPEAKER_01 (13:40):
It sure doesn't.
SPEAKER_02 (13:41):
And if y'all
listening to it, I'm just
telling you.
You need to fix it.
It's it's bad.
And people make fun of you.
Oh my gosh.
Well, I'm just telling I'm justputting it out there.
Oh my god.
I didn't say who they were.
But if they're listening, they're potential customers.
(14:02):
It's fine.
We don't, I mean, they'rereally, they're not our
customer.
Okay.
It wouldn't look like that.
unknown (14:08):
Oh my god.
SPEAKER_02 (14:12):
But it's like what
you're saying.
Like sometimes you just wesometimes you take it a step
too.
SPEAKER_01 (14:20):
It's better to not
do it than do it wrong.
SPEAKER_03 (14:23):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_01 (14:23):
Yeah.
And I'm like.
Especially uh just those perfectlined up LED lights, just it
just perks me.
And it's funny because you know,we have some houses right in
front of the farm that theybuilt.
And one, I think two of them nowhave the permanent lights.
And then one of them has thetraditional light, they just
(14:46):
outline their roof with thetraditional lights.
And it, I'm like, I don't know.
It just looks so much better.
SPEAKER_02 (14:53):
It gives you that
Christmas vacation look versus
something that looks like itshould be on a McDonald's or or
the, you know, the landing stripat the airport.
SPEAKER_01 (15:05):
Yeah, it's too
perfect.
So I don't know.
Maybe we need to come up withsomething how to fix that.
They need like I don't think youcan fix that.
SPEAKER_02 (15:13):
I know because
they're too perfect.
Too space.
But you know, there are peoplethat like that that perfect
look.
SPEAKER_01 (15:24):
They're wrong.
I mean yeah.
It's like the shape, too.
They need to make a cover.
I don't know.
I'm trying to they need to makea cover that goes over them that
looks like a light bulb orsomething.
How much does this cost?
I don't know.
SPEAKER_02 (15:44):
Too much.
I mean, I'm just curious.
I think I'm gonna give you thatfor your Christmas.
When you're gone for Christmas.
When you're gone back and I willhave it all trimmed, like down
the side, just the whole thingis just gonna look and I'm gonna
(16:06):
have it where you can't shut itoff.
You can just change the color.
SPEAKER_01 (16:10):
Oh my gosh.
That's it.
Sometimes the neighbor that's infront, like that.
Luckily, they face a differentrope.
I mean, it'd be on randomly.
I'm like, what did you hit abutton?
And it'd be some random asscolors.
And I'm like, what is this?
But anyway, this you should dothat.
Give that to me for well, youknow, even at the meal.
SPEAKER_02 (16:31):
They things just
make you go, hmm.
So, and I, you know, it duringthe holidays, um I I look away
at a lot of things.
Uh as the HOA.
I mean, they're breaking rules,but I'm like, it it's the
holidays.
60 days, Stephen.
Exactly.
(16:51):
That's what I'm saying.
It's not worth it.
Let them enjoy it.
Yeah, don't be that.
But I'm like, you know, oneperson on their balcony will put
up the warm, pretty lights, andI'm like, oh, that's pretty
good.
And then they'll run into thenext blue.
Yeah.
And I'm like, what makes youthink that looks good?
But what really gets me?
SPEAKER_01 (17:13):
This is it, the
wall.
Well, there's a lot of people.
Sorry to cut you off, nothingnew there.
We're three years in.
Um, but there's a lot of peopleuntil you point out, they don't
realize the difference betweenthe warm white lights and the
blue lights.
Fluorescent.
Like even in their lamps, theydon't notice it.
They don't know until you'relike, so if those blue
(17:38):
fluorescence LED lights, thoseare for your those are for your
like mud room, your closet, yourshop in a closet.
I know.
But I'm just thinking, that'swhere you can keep that where
you need bright light.
I was like, I changed mine out.
SPEAKER_02 (17:55):
I was like, I can't
look at that.
I mean, that throat throws meoff even with my damn clothes.
It does, because they don't lookthe same when you take it out.
It's like, oh, I got all wrongclothes.
No, you got wrong light.
That's right.
And you will be much uglier inthat blue light.
That's true.
I mean, much uglier.
The other thing is, and we needto make this clear.
(18:17):
Look at your wreaths.
SPEAKER_03 (18:19):
If you do an
artificial wreath, it's so hung
up.
SPEAKER_02 (18:23):
Look at your
wreaths.
SPEAKER_03 (18:24):
He's so hung up on
wreaths.
SPEAKER_02 (18:25):
If it looks like you
ran it over.
SPEAKER_03 (18:28):
You said this last
week.
Did I?
Yes.
SPEAKER_02 (18:30):
If it looks like you
ran over it in your car, it's
time to get a new one.
Yes, we talked about this lastone.
SPEAKER_01 (18:36):
You are hung up on
wreaths.
SPEAKER_02 (18:38):
Well, I just see it.
Like, we'll go for walks, and Ilook at somebody and I'm like,
they have had that thing.
They've been dragging that outfor five or six damn years.
Uh-huh.
Or 15.
Dry rotted.
Yeah.
On its last.
Listen, I'm not being mean.
It's not people that can'tafford it.
These are people that can affordwhat the hell they want.
(18:59):
Yeah.
They're like, oh, it looks good.
It'll do.
It'd do.
SPEAKER_01 (19:04):
Who is hung up on
the wreath?
You know what?
We need for the nested big, because most of you who are
listening join us on the nestedbig.
And they've been asking for likesubscriptions.
We need a wreath of the seasonsubscription.
Oh my God, we do.
(19:25):
We need one for, you know, afterChristmas.
We need one for like an Easter,a spring wreath, a summer
wreath, a fall, and a Christmas.
Subscription.
SPEAKER_02 (19:34):
Don't have that
forsythia wreath on your damn
door when it comes July 9.
That makes me angry too.
SPEAKER_01 (19:43):
We need a wreath
subscription.
That would be awesome.
Another thing I think they'rethinking, Oh shit, my wreath is
old.
SPEAKER_02 (19:52):
Good thing Steven's
not coming to I saw this in
another city and I was like, Weshould do this because it's kind
of giving.
Okay.
And I think it would be fun.
SPEAKER_03 (20:01):
Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_02 (20:02):
It was a it was a
plant store.
Yeah.
And the owner and the ememployees, certain ones, walked
through the parade dressedalike, Santa hats and cute.
Yeah.
And they were all carrying freshwreaths.
(20:25):
And gave them out.
And then when they were gone, they were gone.
Yeah.
But the people that had them, Ithink that would be such a nice.
Well, it was this past week.
SPEAKER_01 (20:37):
Well, no, I'm saying
next year.
But wouldn't that be a fun thingto do?
You know, why don't we take thepodcast on the road next week
and go give people wreaths?
Like where would we go?
I don't know, just Augusta Road,wherever.
You knock on their door, you canhave your knife.
SPEAKER_02 (20:56):
Would you like it?
SPEAKER_01 (20:57):
Yeah.
Would you like a wreath?
SPEAKER_02 (20:58):
Yeah.
unknown (20:59):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (21:00):
And we just click
plain red bow on it.
Yeah.
I thought it was really fun.
And I was like, um, it's kind ofin the middle of our season, but
even if it was just me and youand Dylan and Daniel, like if we
couldn't pull employees out, wecould each carry like five
wreaths on each arm.
SPEAKER_01 (21:21):
Well, we're gonna
make it a block.
Be like, y'all don't get none inthis block.
SPEAKER_02 (21:28):
Or we could pull
some.
We could pull, we could have awagon.
SPEAKER_01 (21:32):
I think it's better
to go to our local neighborhood
for people who are around us whoprobably support us and are
familiar.
And we know some of the peoplethat might be older or something
and say, hey, we noticed youdon't have a wreath.
We would like to give you one ifyou want it.
SPEAKER_02 (21:47):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_01 (21:47):
And have a pretty
bow on it.
That's what we need to do.
SPEAKER_02 (21:51):
I think it would be
fun.
I just saw that.
I was like, I love that.
Because there are people thatcan't afford it, and elderly
people that would love a freshwreath, but they're not gonna go
out and get it.
SPEAKER_01 (22:02):
Yeah.
We need to do that.
Let's take that before nextweek.
Let's go give out some wreaths.
I'm down.
That would make me happy.
You can rock on the here.
Let's go downtown and ask themfunny questions and they can win
a wreath, too.
unknown (22:16):
That would be good.
SPEAKER_01 (22:18):
Say, have you ever
heard of who's driving podcasts?
Let's see if we can find oneperson that's heard of us.
SPEAKER_02 (22:24):
You have on your
Christmas panties?
SPEAKER_01 (22:26):
Yes.
SPEAKER_02 (22:26):
If you could show us
that you have on Christmas
panties with a wreath or a Santaor something, just look, give us
a peek, you get a free wreath.
SPEAKER_03 (22:38):
Oh my god, that's
funny.
SPEAKER_02 (22:41):
That is too funny.
So, yeah, I just think there'sall kinds of nice things you can
do.
And I saw I was uh watchingtoday a guy that retired that
had been a police officer and hestill wanted to help people and
give back.
Yeah.
Um, I would have done this alittle different, but I'll tell
(23:02):
you what he's doing.
He bought a um like a truck.
Yeah.
Um not a camper, but a bigclosed-in truck.
Yeah.
Almost like an RV.
Yeah.
And he filled it with washingmachines and dryers.
Oh.
And he went around and uh withdifferent homeless camps.
(23:27):
Oh, and washed them.
And and helped them wash theirclothes.
SPEAKER_01 (23:29):
Oh, that's nice.
And I was like, that is reallysweet.
Yeah, that is sweet.
Not changing the subject, butthat triggered.
We gotta talk about because noteverybody watched our live sale.
You got scammed this week.
And I think it's very importantto talk about because other
people who were watching saidthey fell for the exact same
(23:50):
scam in different places.
Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_02 (23:53):
So And tis the
season.
Listen, I always this time itlike in November, I always sent
out a memo with paychecksbecause I always did paychecks.
This was before everybody diddirect deposits.
Yeah.
And I always did a letter thatsaid, 'Tis the season for
(24:13):
scammers.
Yeah.
And guess who got scammed?
SPEAKER_01 (24:17):
Me.
So this was, oh my gosh, y'all, this was such a good scam.
So this is something that he Nota good, but good criminal.
Yeah, I mean, good as in legit, easy to fall for scam.
So I really don't want people tofall for this.
So Steven was on Facebook and afriend who I'm all also friends
(24:41):
with, who we know, who's acustomer, all that.
Great guy, known him for 30years.
Had a listing on his Facebookpage.
And it was like a listing thatsaid, like, my uncle's going
into assisted living or thenursing home or something like
that.
And we're having to sell off histhings, and they're listed
below.
(25:01):
And it gave a list, and then ithad all the pictures of the
items.
And so it was just like, youknow, messaged me for to and it
did say, like, I'm going, I haveto be out of town today through,
say this was Wednesday.
I don't remember what day itwas.
But basically, I'm out of townwith my uncle or whatever for
(25:24):
the next three days.
Message me for a deposit, andthen you can see it when I get
back.
You can pick it up Saturday.
You can pick it up Saturday whenI get back and whatever.
So Steven went on there, foundsomething he liked, um, and sent
the deposit to them, and thencalled me and was like, look at
(25:46):
this listing or whatever.
Um and And you saw three or fourthings.
SPEAKER_02 (25:53):
Oh, I was, yes.
Well, I had an I dumbass herethat is all skeptical of
everything.
For God's sakes, AmericanExpress called me and I put that
poor person through hell.
How do I know it's you?
Just the day before.
The day before.
How do I know it's you?
I don't know it's you.
(26:13):
There are scammers.
Yeah.
And it was legit poor person.
Thought I was crazy.
Well, then dumbass here.
Um, I sent them I sent them$2,000.
SPEAKER_01 (26:25):
A$2,000 deposit.
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
Like it was$20, like a fool.
But then, so he called me and Iwas like, and there was nothing.
Because you felt bad afterwards.
Like you were like, I feel sodumb.
But there was nothing.
SPEAKER_02 (26:39):
I had just chatted
with him on Facebook like the 12
hours before.
The friend.
The friend.
So Stephen.
SPEAKER_01 (26:48):
There was no reason
to mark the thing that the
scammer did too.
So the Stephen calls me, and Iwas looking at it.
I was like, We were shopping.
We were shopping.
And Stephen was messaging thequote friend.
And here's the thing (27:01):
the friend
had been hacked and locked out
of his account.
So he couldn't let anybody knowthat he had been hacked.
But this hacker had scammer hadtaken over his account, but
posting as him and looked legit.
Um and it even worded like him.
Whatever.
But anyway.
It sounded like him.
So I'm like, hey, ask him ifthis is still available.
(27:24):
And so I gave like three things, and he was smart enough because
this is what really does it.
He said, Oh, this and this isavailable, but the other one's
already sold.
And then even on the listing, hehad names by people, like names
by certain items, like sold, andthey had had their name posted.
Very smart.
But not letting you put adeposit on everything made it
(27:47):
that much more realistic.
So But then, then so what I wasabout to like, where do I send
my money to?
SPEAKER_02 (27:55):
I'm like, wait,
wait.
Then it hit me.
I was like, mmm, this might be ascam.
I said, I need to talk to him onthe phone before we send any
more money.
SPEAKER_01 (28:07):
Yeah, I was like,
wait, well, you said that.
Like, what if this is a scam?
And I said, Well, wait, don'tyou have his number like in your
phone?
And I said, Text him directly, not on Facebook.
Because on Facebook, Steven textand was like, hey, can you call
me or whatever?
And he was like, I'm in ameeting.
(28:27):
It'll be like 10 minutes orwhatever, sort of thing.
Um and then you text, like, well, how do you know me?
I said, How did we meet?
How did we meet?
And he said something like verybelievable too.
But that's we were already ontothe stage.
Just said, I'll call you.
Oh, okay.
Well, yeah, I guess you are.
(28:48):
Yeah.
So anyway, so luckily I didn'tget scammed.
We figured it out before then.
SPEAKER_02 (28:55):
But Well, I would
have felt e I mean, I felt like
a freaking idiot.
Like you feel like an old fool,is how you feel.
You feel you know, like an old.
Why didn't I catch this kind ofthing?
Yeah, you feel like one of thoseelderly people that gets taken
advantage of.
But you are elderly and you takeadvantage of it.
(29:18):
But it was it was items thatwould get you excited.
Yeah.
And the other thing is theyweren't dirt cheap.
It was like the wholesale costof the item.
SPEAKER_01 (29:30):
Yeah, it was like
cheap enough to be like a great
deal.
Oh, like this is too good topass up, but not like crazy.
SPEAKER_02 (29:39):
Yeah.
It's like, oh, they're justwanting to unload.
Yeah, they're trying to get ridof all the stuff out of
business.
It's what I would do if I waslike, I want to sell this.
I'm gonna give it, I'm gonnaoffer it to Facebook friends at
wholesale cost.
Yeah.
Because I know, you know, if Iwas gonna sell my watch, right?
I could sell it to you atwholesale cost, or I could sell
(30:00):
it to a jeweler at wholesale.
Right.
So why wouldn't I sell it to afriend?
Yeah.
So yeah.
SPEAKER_01 (30:06):
But anyway.
So be on the lookout for thatbecause when we were talking
about it in a live sale, otherpeople were like, they had a
same post got I know of two, Iknow of two people in
Greenville.
SPEAKER_02 (30:20):
Yeah.
So that scammer got six thousanddollars just that I know of.
Yeah.
SPEAKER_01 (30:28):
So Steven called,
um, has it posted to your card
yet?
SPEAKER_02 (30:33):
It has, and it has
been removed.
So did they give you your moneyback?
SPEAKER_01 (30:36):
Uh as of right now.
SPEAKER_03 (30:38):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_01 (30:39):
Well, that's good.
And I filed um because the thingis, he spent two hours on the
phone, and I forgot to tell, Ididn't even think about this.
But when something like thathappens to you, they cannot do
anything until it has posted, like to your credit card.
Um the one saving grace with Mr.
(30:59):
Not Up on Technology over hereis they really wanted Zell,
which would have been linkeddirectly to your account, your
bank account, and you can't getthat back.
SPEAKER_02 (31:10):
Um the crazy thing
is I don't have Zell, but we do
on the business account.
So for a smidgen of a second, Iwas like, well, I'll just use it
on the business and put themoney back.
Yeah.
You know, to make it quick andeasy.
Because I mean, I've done thatbefore.
(31:31):
Like, oh, put this on PayPal andI'll put it back.
SPEAKER_03 (31:35):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (31:36):
Um, and I was like,
you know, this is a busy time of
year.
We actually have a lot of moneyin the bank.
It's like, maybe not.
Yeah.
Because I'd rather it be a linkto a card.
So always do stuff on a creditcard.
Credit card, not debit, notdon't link it to your bank
account.
(31:56):
Just be very careful.
SPEAKER_01 (31:58):
And have um Because
we just went to our bank.
We had a like year-end meetingor whatever with one of our
banks, and we went through thiswhole scam thing just two weeks
ago.
They were telling us how L thescam.
They were telling us all thescams that were going around,
and we were like, oh my gosh, because we added extra
protection on our businessaccount.
SPEAKER_02 (32:18):
And make sure you
have what's it called,
authentication on your liketwo-factor.
Two-factor authentication onyour Facebook account and your
Instagram account.
Any social media, make sure youhave two-factor authentication.
That means if someone is tryingto reset your password in Dubai,
(32:40):
uh, you're gonna get a textmessage asking if it's you.
Yeah.
And so you can say, hell no.
Yeah.
That's very important.
And I didn't have my two-factorauthentication set.
But now I do.
Yeah.
There you go.
So I'm and uh ironically, Ididn't tell you this.
(33:01):
That night, that night we wentto bed.
We got up the next morning afterbeing scammed.
Um, a scammer was trying to getinto Dylan's um account.
Oh, really?
Got an email.
So we had to reach.
SPEAKER_01 (33:24):
Y'all scammers that
energy for something else.
And smart they're smart.
Yes.
SPEAKER_02 (33:31):
Why risk it in all
of the sad thing is, the really
sad thing is, and listen, Ireally want my money back.
I feel very violated.
Nobody likes that.
But if I didn't get it back,it's not the end of the world.
The sad thing is, is they areout there scamming people that
(33:53):
cannot afford to lose thatmoney.
Right.
I mean, it I don't want to throwthat money away either.
But people that really, maybethat's all their Christmas money
or something.
And it's terrible to do that.
SPEAKER_03 (34:06):
It is.
SPEAKER_02 (34:06):
I mean, it's just
wrong anyway, but it I feel bad
for the people, and a lot ofpeople wouldn't know how to get
it rectified.
And an elderly person, theywould, it would all be I know.
You're gonna be just a damnmessage.
I'll I I'll have to give up myphone.
Dylan will be able to take careof it.
(34:26):
I'll have to give up my phone.
SPEAKER_01 (34:28):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (34:28):
But he didn't catch
it either.
Nobody called it told thedumbass that had already given
the money said, Wait, I think wemight be getting scammed here.
And then everybody else is like,Yeah, we might.
SPEAKER_01 (34:42):
But the funny thing
is, well, you didn't think of it
from because nothing on hispage, because I even went to his
page to make sure, like, has heposted recently because to see
if it was someone, you know, aninactive account.
Always look for something likethat.
It wasn't.
So I didn't think any because Ididn't think anything of it, but
(35:02):
yeah, it was a scam.
SPEAKER_02 (35:04):
Yeah, and I hate it
for I hate it for the friend
that got hacked because he feelsbad that his friends were taken
advantage of.
Yeah, but it wasn't it.
It wasn't his fault.
No, I mean, it could happen toany of us, but just send it send
him a bill.
Seriously, like I'm pissed aboutthis.
(35:26):
No, he felt really bad.
And I was like, it is not yourfault.
Yeah, but just be very carefulright now, and um, even when
you're out shopping, just bereal cognizant of where you're
parking.
And if you get an icky feeling, you have that feeling for a
(35:47):
reason, listen to your gut andalways double check or something
like that.
Because there, I mean, there arepeople out there breaking in
cracking on the city.
Working hard.
Working hard to scam people.
They are, they are, and you canget you could end up getting
hurt or killed.
Yeah.
So it's really not worth it.
SPEAKER_01 (36:06):
All right, I hate
that this is a short one, but it
is 7.59.
We're supposed to be live in oneminute, which isn't gonna
happen.
And we gotta pull all the items.
So we're gonna be about 15minutes late to our live sale.
But um, we gotta pull this babyover.
Tis the season.
I feel like so.
Next year will be season fourwhen we come back of the
(36:29):
podcast.
I feel like we need to step itup a notch next year.
I feel like we did good thisyear, but I feel like we weren't
like coasted through.
I think we just we were verybusy.
We were very busy.
We never had a guest on.
I don't even know, did Daniel orDylan even join us this year?
It kind of blew by.
Yeah, but we were Yeah.
(36:51):
We gotta revamp and bring ourA-game for twist.
Yeah, we gotta get recommitted.
We need to have some hitchhikerson, some of our friends on.
SPEAKER_02 (37:01):
We need to retouch
on uh for 2026.
So from our first season, likewe need to revisit and talk
about our Airbnbs.
Yeah.
SPEAKER_01 (37:12):
Because things
change.
We need to do some more businessstuff.
We need to get back to some morethings.
But you know what?
We got we're doing the best wecan.
We're gonna show up at the endof January and be like, Lol,
we're here.
We're here we are.
Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_02 (37:29):
You know, yeah.
There's still so much to talkabout.
Like, there's so much, and Iknow so many of you messages
y'all love the McDonald'sstories, and and I'm so tired of
damn McDonald's.
SPEAKER_01 (37:43):
I know.
Well, I need to go get a jobthere so you have more stories.
SPEAKER_02 (37:47):
I know.
Well, I I did tell my friend Um,I like the McDonald's.
I I I told my friend that he heowns a McDonald's.
I really want to come work oneday.
And I mentioned um a lot ofsale, and they were like, tell
us when, because we actuallyhave a lot of customers around
(38:10):
that store.
That's right.
Yeah, they're like, we want tocome see you.
I told him, I'm like, it's gonnabe a meet and greet.
SPEAKER_01 (38:17):
We're gonna make it
a meet and greet.
Alright, that's it.
We gotta pull this baby over.
Hope y'all have a great week.
We'll be back next week.
That'll be our last episode of2025.
So we'll see you back here nextweek.
And then before we know it,we'll be back for 2023.
Happy Christmas shopping.
Um, I'll take cash.
Yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (38:36):
I like cash.
SPEAKER_01 (38:37):
Should we put our uh
mailing address down below?
Sizes, sizes, gift cards, cash,uh name and markets, gift cards,
my um Venmo down below.
SPEAKER_02 (38:51):
I think we should
put both.
SPEAKER_01 (38:55):
Thanks, y'all.
Bye y'all.
