Speaker 1 (00:04):
Have you been living in a God in the box mentality,
where you go to church on Sunday, take out an X box, put it back
in the box and go do yourbusiness, life and relationships
again?
Or does everything function inGod's economy where you can
effortlessly see God as youremployer?
Your number one goal is to showup well and authentically.
If you do that every day, thatwill shift your mindset and your

(00:26):
expectations, because nowyou're expecting to show up well
.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
Welcome to the Y2 Fitness podcast.
I'm your host, aaron O'Connell, and today I am joined with my
friend, bridget Hom, who is abusiness and life coach and
owner of Bridge to FreedomCoaching.
How are you doing today,bridget?

Speaker 1 (00:48):
Fantastic.

Speaker 2 (00:50):
I love you.
I'm grateful to be here today.

Speaker 1 (00:52):
Whenever anyone says how are you doing?

Speaker 2 (00:54):
Grateful to be here.
It's a great thing because thenyou can talk about gratitude.
You can start talking.
So many people are like ugh, just going through the grind
another day when you can talkabout thankfulness.
It's just amazing.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
I always say sell yourself something positive.
You're going to buy whateveryou sell yourself anyway in
terms of what you're thinking, why not make it positive?

Speaker 2 (01:16):
Amen.
The reason I wanted you to beon this podcast today is I
wanted to talk about the conceptof God being our employer and
you being a business coach.
I thought who better than tobring Bridget back on onto the
show, because you already cameand talked to our entire
entrepreneur class at church?

(01:38):
I loved what you said and justgive yourself a little bit of a
background of how you startedBridge to Freedom Coaching, what
it's all about and just alittle bit about like like toot
your horn a little bit my horn.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
You know that might be hard for me to do, I'm just
kidding.
Well, here's what happened.
Honestly, I started Bridge toFreedom Coaching out of my love
for mentorship.
I mean, truthfully, I've alwaysbeen in ministry in some
capacity.
I was in music ministry, peerministry, campus ministry.
If it ended in ministry, I wasin it and actually my first job

(02:16):
out of college was like campusminister for three secular
universities and then went on toan interesting.
I got married, had three boys, lived a pretty interesting life
traveling the world for about 10years and then had some moments
of contrast, ended up on my wayto getting divorced, and so I

(02:37):
remember actually I'm going to,I'm going to quote my mom and
dad were going through therapyand you know, like every
marriage has its issues.
I was heard they said marriagemakes you wholly not happy all
the time.
And I remember her psychologistsaying you know, Patty, you can
divorce John when you become thebest version of Patty you could

(03:01):
become, and I took that toheart.
That resurfaced in my mind.
It was probably a God moment.
And so I pursued gettingcertified in coaching, and
that's that's really where abridge to freedom coaching kind
of started.
I was on this pursuit ofpersonal development to make
myself the best version ofmyself.

(03:22):
But then, well, it manifestedinto a business and I'm sure
we'll talk a little bit moreabout that as we go on.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
Yeah, Well, it manifested you can keep going
and manifested into a business.
You said it was during COVID,right.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
Oh yeah, which I now call the reinvention evolution.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
Which is true, because everyone that was
working in offices now areworking remote and schools
rethink things.
A lot of different stuff isdifferent, for sure.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
Exactly, and I was actually on January 2020,.
I had just moved out of my big, beautiful home.
I was on my way to getting zoomdivorced.
Then virtual school happenedfor my three young boys.
I'm in a new apartment and Ihave to figure out well, how am
I going to make money?
Because I was also workingpart-time in the seniors
industry and you can be a seniorcitizen at that time and, yeah,

(04:15):
it was kind of like a perfectstorm.
What next?
God?
Was my question, and that'shonestly been my question my
whole life what next God?
Since I started developing thatpersonal relationship with God
when I was a teenager.
But that was what next?
And then I got a random Zoombusiness networking link.
Did you know what a Zoom linkwas during COVID or before COVID

(04:39):
?

Speaker 2 (04:41):
Right around that time is probably when I started
realizing it.
Like I think there was Skype.
I think I knew of but I didn'treally know.
Zoom.
I don't know when it reallycame about, but I knew a little
bit about Skype but wasn't usingit too much Because I myself
started my coaching and all thatstuff in my program and the

(05:02):
different, many versions that'salready became right during
COVID as well.
I transitioned from personaltraining in the gym 10 years to
then all of a sudden I'm notallowed to be in the gym.
So what do I do here?
I created a program.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
See, it was the evolution.
It was a light businessevolution time period for us,
and literally.
So what happened next?
I got this Zoom link and I'lltell you a little more detail
that I usually do.
I figured out what it wasbecause I was actually really
perplexed.
I'm like, oh my God, Iregistered.
Where do I show up for this?
I showed up on a Thursdaymorning at 8 AM and this

(05:37):
gentleman, brian, who's a dearfriend to this day, goes Bridget
home, give your 30 seconds.
And I'm like, dang it.
He mispronounced my last name.
What am I supposed to say?
And what came out?
It was so interesting becausein the seniors industry I had
been successful in some capacity.
I had made some yeah.
And in Bridget your FreedomCoaching, I had had two real

(05:59):
clients, one practice client, Ithink, at the time.
So I'm like what do I pitch?
And it's like God made thatdecision for me and I just had
Bridget Hom here.
Bridget your Freedom Coaching, are you ready to level up?
Okay, what?
Honestly, I had six clientswithin six weeks.

Speaker 2 (06:17):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (06:19):
My 90-day Finder Freedom program was born, my
self-paced programs were born, group sales trainings, live
speaking engagements and thebest-selling book stuck on ready
.
Because of the virtual world, Iwas able to successfully launch
a coaching business to sixfigures during the hours of 8 am
and 2 pm and influencethousands and personally coach

(06:39):
hundreds.
Wow, it was a pretty wildjourney.
I definitely wish I could havesaid it was out of motivation
that I launched it, but itabsolutely was.
Having no other option, god putme in a corner and said I'm
going to give you exactly whatyou need in front of you.
That's the story.

Speaker 2 (06:59):
I love that, because your whole mindset behind things
was what's next God?
You were really living outPsalms 24-1, which is the earth
is the Lord's and the fullnessthereof, the world and all who
dwell therein.
You're acknowledging God, theCreator, but you're challenging
that worldly mindset ofself-sufficiency and

(07:21):
highlighting your dependence onGod.
So many times people think theyneed so much credentials, so
many things and to be all set inplace in order to have that
launch pad, when we are reallydependent on God, which you were
already showing.
What next God?
He came and put those words inyour mouth.

Speaker 1 (07:43):
Yeah, trust me, God keeps me.
It's like I have a bowling ballgoing down a lane and God just
puts the bumpers in there.
So I'm on the right path.
That is how I feel, like mywhole life has been.

Speaker 2 (07:54):
I love that which leads us right into that mindset
.
I would love you, for you todiscuss the importance of
aligning our career choices, orour businesses and decisions,
with God's will.
Just having that whole mindsetbehind of God is our employer.

Speaker 1 (08:16):
I'm going to reference when I was 20, god
called me into getting sober.
I'm actually a recoveredalcoholic for 18 years.
This year it actually says inthe big book of Alcoholics
Anonymous having a new employer.
And so I shifted that into Godis my employer.

(08:39):
And then through that Godconsciousness, through working
the 12 steps, through having acommunity that expressed radical
self-acceptance so that I couldcontinue to grow, having
everything function in God'seconomy, just became a part of
who I was Based on.
Everybody else saying listenGod first.
Everything else, everythingyou're struggling with, is a

(09:02):
spiritual malady, especiallyalcoholism.
But then you look at everythingelse the seven deadly sins.
So, one of the prayers thatRecovery gave me that I've
actually shared with otherpeople.
It's kind of embarrassing.
My first mentor told me toshare this prayer, but the
prayer is God, I offer myself tothe to build with me and do

(09:24):
with me as you will.
And then it goes on and she hadme say repeat after me God, who
is not Bridget?
I offer myself to the to buildwith me and do with me as you
will.
And so, after saying thatprayer, so many, it makes it
easy to put God first in everyscenario, relationship,
situation, and so whenever Ilook at circumstances or

(09:46):
environments or relationships,my first thought has always been
all right, god, what are youshowing me?
What am I supposed to be?
How am I supposed to be showingup?
Have you prompted me to doanything about this?
Yet I'm not saying I've madeall my decisions perfect,
because I'm a beautiful person.

Speaker 2 (10:06):
We are.

Speaker 1 (10:07):
So but I really worked hard to try to navigate
things with God versus the ohcrap moments afterwards, Like
God just spoke to me which Iused to say a lot of those
prayers like the full prayersyou know, like when you go to
battle.
It's like, please, god, if youget me out of this alive, then I
will do this, for you.

(10:27):
So I kind of started to developthis God consciousness like
Paul had in scripture.
Paul didn't have the scripturesto reference.
Well, he had you at that time,I think.

Speaker 2 (10:38):
Well, yeah, yeah, he had the Old Testament type four
deal.

Speaker 1 (10:42):
Yeah, but for the sake.
But it was mostly the HolySpirit directing his every move.

Speaker 2 (10:47):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (10:48):
And so it's like, did the Holy Spirit depreciate over
time?
No, the Holy Spirit is just asalive and well now.
So I really find as fuel for myspirit to keep going and to
keep inspiring and empoweringthe people who I work with, my
relationships, my children, mymom life, etc.

Speaker 2 (11:07):
I love that and I actually chuckled.
And I liked because you saidGod who is not Bridget, because
so many times people say Isubmit to God, I like I submit.
You know, they go to church, they understand as Christians,
ok, god, you're the leader of mylife, all that stuff.
But the moment they get into adifferent area that isn't

(11:29):
directly related to ministry ortheir walk, their, their, their
devotions, so like in fitness oreven in business, it's like God
, you are the leader of my life.
And then all of a sudden theyturn to fitness or they turn to
business and it's like OK, whatdo I need to do?
What do?
What do I need to do?
How should I do this?
What are other people doing?
What is the best worldly way ofthings?

(11:53):
And they take that tree ofknowledge, thought pattern and
they start applying it and it'slike well, what about God?
What about Proverbs?
Three, five through six, trustand Lord, with all your heart,
lean, not on your ownunderstanding.
All your ways, submit to himand he will make your path
straight.
Like, what about that?
It's like, well, what?
Well, it's my business?
Like, well, yeah, he's just asequally as important there, if

(12:16):
not even more important.
Because let's be real, how muchof our time is spent in
business?

Speaker 1 (12:21):
Oh, a ton and you know.
But it's a process to integrateGod into your life.
It's an intentional process.
I used to run in the off seasonof basketball.
I would run to this chapelevery day.
It was two, two miles there andtwo miles back.
And so I said God, I'm going todate you for six months.
I don't know any other way torelate to you.

(12:43):
I really like dating, so I'mgoing to date you for six months
and, of course, I learned theprocess of the heart process.

Speaker 2 (12:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (12:53):
You know, I learned that when I find God, I find
myself.

Speaker 2 (12:57):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (12:58):
And so I started talking to God and telling him
all these things, and then somedays I just leave him like I
don't want to sit with you, Idon't have time for this, and
then I'd spend the whole runback, two miles back,
apologizing for how rude I was.
I would.
It was very much a real humanrelationship because, I don't
know, I can't bring a non humanto the relationship with God.

(13:20):
So I just brought my humannessto God and so after a while I
ran out of things to say and I'mlike hey, do you want to say
something to you?
I'm ready to listen.
No, I'm not.
I'm terrified of what you'regonna say.
Right and so developed.
It's like working out honestlythat that spiritual ear is like

(13:41):
a muscle and you have toexercise that muscle, which
we're we're not taught how to do.
We have to pursue that Workingout right you don't just
actually, you know, my husbandtells me all the time hey, if
you don't work out you, we'renot gonna get in shape.

Speaker 2 (13:55):
Yeah, thank you.
Use it or lose it.

Speaker 1 (13:57):
Thanks.
I know it'll work out tomorrow.
No, I've actually worked out,but he's diligent about that.
He is so diligent about thatbecause he understands the
result right.
So once we practice thatspiritual muscle and growing it,
we start to see the result ofthat relationship with God in
front of us.
So we don't spend the time Toinvest in growing that muscle.

Speaker 2 (14:23):
Yeah, I, I love that.
I love that and I would lovefor you to speak to somebody
that's in business, whetherthey're working for themselves,
but more, more or less theperson that's in a job that
they're not really content with.
They're there, they're they'rethey're working for an employer.

(14:44):
That is mean, that is abusive, you know those types of things.
How can that type of personstart making God their employer?
Like, what would be the mindsetfor that person right there to
start walking through?
Because, as entrepreneurs, youand I both kind of get it.
We're in control of everything.

(15:05):
When we fail, it's our faultand when we succeed, it's our
faults.
When we have read me to wall,it's because we didn't figure
out the solution.
But there's a lot of people inbusiness that they hit the wall
because there's literally wallsthere, there is.
There is men in front of them, women in front of them, saying
you don't get to go any further, you're not allowed to do that.

(15:25):
So what would be the mindsetfor those types of people that
you would encourage them to doto make God their employer, when
they have an employer that kindof stinks or is holding them
back?

Speaker 1 (15:37):
Well, first of all, grow the spiritual muscle.
You know I've been exercise.
Actually it was given to me bya friend.
It's called the 11 minutes withGod exercise.
Okay and you set a timer, because the brain can only focus
on one thing at a time.
I tell all my entrepreneursthis, and Then you write out a
question to God, and then youwait for the answer, and then

(15:57):
write out the answer and Repeatthis process for 11 minutes.
So start to cultivate thatmuscle because, like I said you
know, become the best version ofyourself before you make any
big moves.

Speaker 2 (16:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (16:11):
That's what I would say.
If you're in a, if you're in acareer or a job right now where
you feel like you can't hit thatSelf-actualization should I
talk about an entrepreneurshipright, we're totally being the
best version of ourselfemotionally, spiritually,
intellectually and physicallyThen work to do that, apart from
your job, and then God willmake a way out.

(16:31):
To ask God to provide a way outand make it clear, you know, I
tell God, use your spiritualcrowbar.
I'm spiritually dense like.
Like, show me very clearly andhe has Every single time.
Sometimes I feel like we'reafraid to ask God for what we
want, because here's the thinghe knows our desires of our

(16:51):
heart, like it says in scripture, more than we do.
Yes, you know, it's funny, Iactually I'll share a personal
story about this.

Speaker 2 (16:58):
Yes, please do I.

Speaker 1 (17:00):
So I got remarried.
I met my husband in zoombusiness networking.

Speaker 2 (17:04):
Thank God for zoom.

Speaker 1 (17:06):
What is?

Speaker 2 (17:06):
yeah, right.

Speaker 1 (17:07):
I feel like a zoom hallmark commercial right.

Speaker 2 (17:11):
I met my husband, I started my business.

Speaker 1 (17:15):
It's so cool.

Speaker 2 (17:16):
I love it.

Speaker 1 (17:17):
I remember, um, I Was really torn up.
He doesn't.
He didn't have any kids of hisown.
So he used to tell people likethey're like you're gonna marry
a woman with three boys and he'slike, yeah, I get to raise
three boys to become menBridget's just the bonus.
And he used to tell people andso he didn't have any children
of his own, he had dogs.
And you know, I was.

(17:38):
I'm kind of I was kind of tornup in my headspace about like,
should we have a child together?
And it was really messing withme.
And so I did the 11 minuteswith God exercise and this is
God's response God's ways arenot our ways.
So I said, am I supposed tohave a baby?
That's literally what I said.
And God goes I will only giveyou what brings you joy, not the

(18:05):
response that we would expect.
So what I want to encourage youin listening that your
expectations of what you thinkGod is going to do or say, or
how he's going to move in yourlife, you're wrong.
You're wrong, dead wrong.
He is going to move in a waythat is even better than you can
absolutely imagine.
That comes down to that trustmuscle.

(18:27):
Right, trust is a muscle too,but it's that God hasn't failed
me yet, and I've gone through alot of different changes and
transformations, but he's beenconstant with surprising me for
the better.

Speaker 2 (18:43):
I love that so much because so often when people
pray, they forget the part tolet God speak.
They're like, oh, I read theBible, that's how he speaks to
me.
Yes, he's one of the main ways.
Yes, he also can speak throughothers.
Yes, but I learned the prayer.

(19:05):
My prayer is pray where youpraise God first, then you
request, yeah, praise, requestand then ask.
Or you know, ask, no, no,praise, repent, that what it is.
Praise and then repent, ask andthen yield, and you yield to
him where you actually sit thereand listen, because so many

(19:26):
times, like if I were to be on aconversation with you and I'm
like, hey, bridget, how's itgoing?
Oh, it's going good, oh, great, well, I love this about you and
I'd like this and take whathappened over here, cool, and I
really want this to happen.
Okay, cool, gotta go Bye.
You're going to be sittingthere going like okay, that
wasn't a conversation I just gotspoken at purple diarrhea.

Speaker 1 (19:48):
I did it to God for a long time, so I understand most
people do it.

Speaker 2 (19:51):
But that yielding part, that time where you just
sit there in quietness and justyield that's why the prophets
would go out to the wildernessis to be able to get away from
the noise and hear God.
And that, right there, takesthat practice.
It really takes that practiceto be able to.
You're not going to hearsomething the first time you're

(20:12):
going.
You know you may hear somethingthat might be the devil
speaking a little lie into you,but as you start doing it over
and over again and searching, you really then can be able to
learn how to be grateful in allthe situations, because God's
going to give you that spokenword, he's going to give you
that thought and that made, likeyou said, be completely

(20:34):
different from what you'researching for, but is exactly
what you need and you know.
That's why I love Philippians 4,11 through 13, where it's like,
hey, I know what it's need tobe a need, I know what it's need
to have plenty, how to gohungry, how to have plenty or in
want.
Why?
Because I can do all thingsthrough Christ, who gives me
strength.
So for that person I would sayas well that going through that

(20:56):
wanting period, that needingperiod is like hey, god wants to
teach you in this period ofneed, just as much.
You know to be gratified, begrateful, find your strength in
that great, in that, in thosevalleys, because then, when you,
that's what's going to propelyou to that top.

Speaker 1 (21:16):
Exactly, you actually reminded me of my middle son,
james will sit at the tablebreakfast table and just talk
and talk and talk and then allof a sudden he'll realize he's
hungry.
And that's what happens to usin our prayer life.
I mean, I'm literally likeJames sit down, stop talking,
you have to eat for five minutesstraight.
But that's what happens in ourrelationships.
We're not satisfied, walkaround as Christians and

(21:38):
Christian business owners, dissatisfied because we don't
eat.
We are constantly talking, talking at God and then
expecting to, to be full withGod, right.
But then we end up being fullof ourselves, full of our
expectations, full of ourdesires, full of whatever it is.
And like James, I'm like Jamesfive minutes, just eat your food

(22:02):
, right.
If we, if we just listen andand really pause with a purpose
we will live with a satisfiedfaith because God will speak to
us Amen.

Speaker 2 (22:14):
Amen.
I'd like to actually dive injust a little bit deeper to the
practical application of makingGod our, our, our employer, and
I'd like you to like, almoststress, the importance of
maintaining integrity andexcellence in our work, no
matter where you're at, nomatter where where you are,

(22:35):
whether it's your entrepreneur, whether you're at the top of the
top, where a lot of people liketo start drifting away from
that excellence because you'reready there, you made it, you
know they start getting lazy orthey're under, they're in a
situation where they're just apaper pusher or a secretary and
they're like well, everything Ido goes unnoticed, so why do
anything good?
I would love for you to speakthat importance of maintaining

(22:58):
integrity and excellence in ourwork.

Speaker 1 (23:00):
So if you're trying to live up to people's
expectations, you're alwaysgoing to find yourself
dissatisfied, because it's a,it's a, that's a way of doing
business at a codependentsetting and you know when you're
feeling out of your mind, you're definitely in somebody
else's.
You're in somebody else's,you're definitely out of your
own mind.
And so when you, when you spendfive minutes in the morning to

(23:22):
listen to God and to journalwith God, I even do a two minute
brain dump right, dear God, andempty my headspace out, and
then I ended in gratitude and, yeah, just to, let's do two
minutes start small.

Speaker 2 (23:34):
Yeah, it starts with measurable goals.
Yes.

Speaker 1 (23:38):
And and you know, when you compare you always lose
, like that's another phrasethat comes to me.
But your number one goal is toshow up well and authentically.
If you do that every day, thatwill shift your mindset and your
expectations, because nowyou're expecting to show up well
, expecting anybody else'sbehaviors or circumstances to
change.

(23:59):
You are focused solely on youshowing up well and
authentically.
Then you make your number twogoal to empower the person in
front of you, no matter whatempowerment means to give
someone the authority or powerto do something I also say to be
something.
So, in a state of empowermentand you're focused on how you're

(24:19):
showing up, you will find thatit's easy to not live under the
influence of circumstances,environment, situations.
You won't take the bait, as Ilike to say, of laziness, pride,
lust, envy, sloth, greed, gluttony, anger seven deadly
sins just right.
You will not take the bait aseasily because you've developed
that God consciousness in themorning.

(24:39):
You've already said God, youcan.
I want you to be my businesspartner.
That means I want to invite youto every conversation.
I want to invite you into everyinteraction.
Before I make big decisions,I'm going to pause and I'm going
to consult you, and so it'sthat listening, but then making
sure that you are in your laneand exactly what you are

(25:00):
supposed to be doing to show upwell, no matter what, no one
else's expectations except God'sand your own for how you could
show up well.

Speaker 2 (25:10):
Yes, it reminds me of Colossians 3, 23,.
Whatever you do, work at itwith all your heart as working
for the Lord, not for humanmasters, and we have to look at
it things of like wait a minute, god sees us when the employers
aren't around.
We need to maintain thoseethical standards and doing our

(25:31):
best job, because even inscripture it says he who does
well with love, little even morewill be given.
And so often people said, oh,I'm just going to do the least
amount I possibly have to tomaintain this.
It's like well, that's whyyou're stuck, you know.

Speaker 1 (25:48):
Yeah, and that's why we're dissatisfied, because we
weren't.
We were meant to run the raceto win.

Speaker 2 (25:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (25:54):
Like a lot of times, we don't give ourselves
permission to be great and to dogreat things.

Speaker 2 (26:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (26:01):
And then what balances that out, that ego out
for us?
Is that all right, god's aboveme in this.
So you know practical ways I dotide, I tide 10%.
Everything I pay myself everyFriday.

Speaker 2 (26:16):
Just real things yeah .

Speaker 1 (26:18):
I tide and in that action I thank God because God
sends me clients.
But I do the work at the sametime.
Like let's not say like I justsit here and on Zoom and be like
, oh God, send me clients.
No, absolutely not.
I work extremely hard.
You know they say, work hardernot, or smarter, not harder.

(26:38):
You have to work harder andsmarter.
So strategy is definitely a partof it, but the mindset, first
and foremost for me is that I'mlike all right, god, I'm going
to do my absolute best in everyscenario.
I'm going to work to serve witheverything that I am and all of
the strategies that you havegiven me, and that's it.

(27:02):
And then you take care of therest.
I actually have a strategy thatI gave to a client yesterday.
It's called you write all ofthe things you feel overwhelmed
about and then you do two listsan in your control list and an
out of your control list, andthen, with the out of your
control list, if you're aChristian, you cross it out of

(27:24):
the control and put in God'scontrol, and then you provide
action steps to the what's inyour control list, because
without action, well, nothinggets done.

Speaker 2 (27:34):
I love that.
I love that.
That is a great practical tip, just for anyone you know, just
to be able to put those thingsdown and say what do I need to
pay a focus to, or what am I?
There's a lot of people payattention to the results, but
we're just in the business ofobedience.
We need to be obedient and takecare of and do the work of what

(27:54):
we are meant to do.
But so many people are like I'mjust trying to get the results.
I need to get the results.
I need to get the results.
I was like, no, that's God's,that's in his hands, but what
are the things that possiblywill result in results that you
can be obedient to now?
So I really like that.
And also I would love for you totalk to a little bit about how
our employment can actually be amethod to serve others, cause

(28:17):
God didn't come down to beserved.
He came to be a servant toothers.
And Galatians, even 513, saysmy brothers and sisters were
called to be free, but don't useyour freedom to indulge your
own flesh.
Rather, serve one another andhumbly in love for the entire
laws fulfilled, in keeping onecommand Love your neighbor as
yourself.
How as in not only inentrepreneurship but how, in

(28:42):
being just in your job, can weserve others?
How can we use that as aplatform to serve others?

Speaker 1 (28:51):
Well, I would say it's always taking God's
direction.
You know, I have one of myclients was actually talking
about how they went on thisamazing retreat and they're like
I'm ready to scream from therooftops that I'm a Christian,
my business is Christian, etcetera.
And like everyone needs to know.
And I said you could absolutelydo that, pray about that, ask

(29:13):
God if that's what he wants youto do, recorded a whole video
right About it.
I said but discern, is thatwhat God wants you to do, or was
that video for you to showyourself that that's where
you're at?
Was that more of aself-revelation?
And I said truthfully and thisis what I do, because all of the

(29:33):
clients that I work with notall of them are Christian.
So the truth is, you want totake it person to person.
Ministry is person to person.
So I said if you really want tomake an impact, then with all
of your clients.
She has hundreds of clients.
I said invite them, say wouldyou like me to pray with you
over you or not at all?
And give them each the option, because Jesus always invites.

(29:59):
So it's that kind of perception.
I don't pitch myself.
I am not a Christian businesslife coach.
I am a Christian who doesbusiness and life coaching, and
so those ministry opportunitiespresent themselves with God's
initiative, not mine.
Yeah, I just show up.
I just show up and say what doyou need, what do you want to

(30:23):
talk about?
And for people who do theprogram with me, the programs
that I have, especially theone-on-one I say would you like
a spiritual component to yourprogram?
And then I ask them are you aspiritual being having a human
experience or are you a humanbeing having a spiritual
experience?
Have you been living in a Godin the box mentality, where you
go to church on Sunday, take Godout of the box, put Him back in

(30:43):
the box and go do your business, life and relationships again?
Or does everything function inGod's economy where you can
effortlessly see God as youremployer?
You check in God about yourmoney life.
You check in with God aboutyour relationships.
You check in with God whatyou're going to do next, and.
But then you take action, because God is all about action.

(31:04):
If you look at the scriptures, god was always about here.
This is the revelation.
Now put it into action.
And that's what I'm constantlyspeaking to everyone that I've
ever worked with, or probablyanyone I've ever met Like you
have this amazing vision, thisamazing idea.
Where are you putting it intoaction?
Yeah, that's the number onething that we all struggle with.

(31:26):
We get trapped in ourheadspaces and I always say you
hire the wrong mental team,right?
Or sometimes we take thespiritual bait that Satan knows
to take and so it's like allright, pause of the purpose.
Where do I need to takeaffirmative action so I could
start getting those results?
In my relationship with God orin my business growth?

(31:46):
And where can I serve peoplemore?
Because I serve people withsolutions.
Every day I teach them how tosell.
I say sales is serving us withsolutions.
So, they can put food on theirtable, so their prospects and
clients can access more andbetter.

Speaker 2 (32:01):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (32:02):
And so it's a combination.
Service looks different inevery setting.
My husband maybe it's servingin a quietness, like not talking
.
I try not to talk to him beforehe eats something in the
evening.
It's better that way.
But there's a couple of greatresources on relationships.

(32:23):
I'll eventually do arelationship course.
Don'ts for wives and don'ts forhusbands Written in 1913 on
Amazon hilarious.

Speaker 2 (32:32):
I can only imagine on that one how politically
incorrect that probably is,which is perfect.

Speaker 1 (32:38):
But Totally politically incorrect.
However, if you read it, ifyou're a girlfriend or a
boyfriend, if you read it toyour significant other,
guarantee your boyfriend's gonnabe like, oh my gosh, would you
please do this?

Speaker 2 (32:50):
I bet.

Speaker 1 (32:51):
This is the truth and vice versa.
So there's some things that, regardless of cultural shifts,
some things will always be truefor us as men and women.

Speaker 2 (33:00):
Amen, that's for sure .
I'd like to use thisopportunity just to shift gears
just a little bit towards this, where we're gonna be nearing
towards the end of our time, ofjust the importance of having
just a community of you know, not only supportive Christian
communities, but for our ownselves, but also like mentors

(33:22):
and accountability for thosethat are trying to take it to
the next level.
I'd love for you to speak tothe necessity of that.

Speaker 1 (33:32):
So true.
You know, I have always hadmentors and coaches to help me
get to that next level because, you know, sometimes I can't get
out of my own headspace or Ican't see clearly, but like when
people work with me, I can seeclearly for them that path ahead
of them.
I so encourage people when theywanna get to that next level

(33:54):
same with, like the Olympiansthey have coaches to teach them
the strategy to get them to thatnext level mindset, that
accountability.
God created us to be like that, wherever two or more are
gathered and they're a part ofthem, and so he created us to be
in relationship and community.
So I mean, I love, I'm a partof three different communities.

(34:17):
Christian every church movement.
I've been working there for along time and then journey
church and then I go to StIgnatius as well.
So I'm a Catholic Christian,but what I find is I need that
constant encouragement and it'sa tradition to see that I'm not
alone on this journey inbusiness or life.

(34:40):
And so you know, Satan's neverone goal bait that he sells us
is that oh just, you could dothis alone.
You can do this alone.
You could launch your businessalone.
You could do.
No, I've never done anythingalone.

Speaker 2 (34:53):
Bye.

Speaker 1 (34:55):
Ever.
God's always with me, but he'salways sent people along the
journey.
So, if you feel like you'realone right now, ask God to show
you the people that he's sentto walk alongside you, because
he definitely has.
And if you feel like they'renot there, say make it very
clear, send me people to walkalongside me right now, to
encourage, inspire me tocontinue on this journey.

Speaker 2 (35:18):
Yeah, and Hebrews 10, 24 through 25, highlights it
perfectly.
And let us consider how to stirup one another to love and good
works, not neglecting to meettogether as the habit of some,
but encouraging one another, andthe more you see the day
drawing near because it's soimportant to provide that
encouragement and guidance forthose that are strong.

(35:39):
Where we're weak, we're thebody of Christ.
You're going to be strong in somany areas, but then you're
weak.
You're in that nice Christiancommunity.
If you have those brothers andsisters around you, that's when
you get encouraged, because thedevil's roaming around looking
for someone to devour, notpeople to devour, it's not
plural, it's someone.

(36:00):
When we are by ourselves, whenwe're alone, thinking we can do
it by ourselves.
That's why it's, it's that'swhy he loves us being cut off
from that community and thinkingwe can do it ourselves.
So he can just start whisperingthose lies he's the fathers of
lies of you can't do this, oh,you should do it this way, oh,
you can cut that corner.
We need to have that community.

(36:22):
But also, like you said, amentor is so important.
Iron sharpens iron, you know soas one person sharpens another
proverbs 2717, and that's whereyou can come in and truly help
someone and take them to thenext level which I'd like for
you to talk about.
What is that process of?
If somebody wants to come andmeet with you, have you help

(36:47):
them?
How can they come and find you?
How can they, how can they gethelp from you?
What does that look like?

Speaker 1 (36:54):
Well, anyone is invited to a direction session.

Speaker 2 (36:57):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (36:58):
We work together or not.
I have to figure out what areyou wanting to pursue in your
business growth, and if I canhelp you, I'll absolutely offer
one of my programs.
But it starts with, first ofall, just getting together.
My calendar link is everywhere.
On LinkedIn it says book anappointment.
Bridgethomme is my calendarlink because business growth and

(37:21):
self-actualization, personaldevelopment, always starts with
self-awareness, so that then wecan get to self-direction and
then manifestation, whichmanifestation just simply means
your conscious mind, yoursubconscious mind and your
actions are in alignment, and socomplete alignment.
You are always aware of yournext direction, you know how to

(37:43):
make empowered decisions to getto your destination of, I say,
your future, successful self.
And so that is really the goalfor any entrepreneur, business
owner or coach or consultantthat comes in front of me for
direction.
That is my number one goal foryou To never be confused again
about how to grow your business, sales, branding, marketing,

(38:04):
mindset, social media, but also,if you are a Christian, how to
have God as your employer at thesame time.

Speaker 2 (38:12):
And you can also find you at BridgetHomcom, correct.

Speaker 1 (38:15):
Yes, yep, that's my website.

Speaker 2 (38:17):
Yep, so you can just go therecom.
Bridgethomme is your calendarlink, all that types of just to
find so as a direction, and thenfrom there you can point them
to your different programs, whether it be one on one,
whether it be a program, and youtailor it in there.
And I love it that you also areworking with Christians,
because that's who'spredominantly listening to this
podcast, and I'm sure that you, during that time, pray for those

(38:42):
people as well, which goesright off of 1 Timothy, 2, 1 to
2.
First of all, then, I urge thepetitions and prayers,
intercessions and thanksgivingbe offered for everyone, and
that's where it's so powerful aswell, because then it's not
just you coaching them as well.
You're going and looking at theauthor of Life, saying, how Can
I Help this Other Person aswell, which I bet just amplifies

(39:05):
the results.
When someone comes to you as aChristian versus, you have to
navigate that land.

Speaker 1 (39:12):
Well, you know, I have no problem navigating it.
I love the people, that isalways.
People have always been mypassion, but I will say, having
someone to bounce ideas off ofis so important and as a
Christian, you know we fightthat extra battle every single
day.
You know we're very well atspiritual battle, so if you want

(39:35):
some insight into that, then wecan absolutely meet and chat
because you want to get thatinsight and then you want that
strategy to level up forbusiness growth and if you'd
like to get my book for free Ididn't even mention this, Aaron
Oh- there you go, put it in.
Yeah right, Stuck on Readycom ismy bestselling book.
I hit bestseller in seven weekson Amazon and you can access

(39:58):
your copy for free atstuckonreadycom.
It has some excellent businessgrowth strategies emotional
intelligence, practices tocontinue to create those
empowered client interactions,social media suggestions
everything I was actually told.
Someone on LinkedIn postedevery page.
I just opened any page of yourbook, Bridget.
I feel like I'm more connectedto myself, and then I have a new

(40:21):
strategy to practice forbusiness growth that day.

Speaker 2 (40:24):
I love that.
I love that.
Definitely will put that intothe show notes as well.
And we were able to discussmindset today, practical
application, community aspects, all of making God the employer.
Is there anything else that youjust want to leave the listener
, anything that you just want todepart on them before we end?

Speaker 1 (40:43):
I write this in all my books and I always say keep
it simple.
Take your number one goal toshow up well and authentically
right now.
No matter where you're at, nomatter what circumstances,
environment, situations we allhave the power of decision right
now how we're going to show up.
We all have 168 hours in a week.

(41:03):
We all have the exact sameamount of time and it's what
you're going to do with thattime.
So decide right now to not liveunder the influence of any
circumstances, environments,feelings aren't your friends.
Right, and decide to show upwell and authentically.
And number two, write this down.
I'm going to make my number onegoal to empower the person in

(41:24):
front of me with value, withsomething that will serve them
in growth, in feeling betterabout their lives encouragement.
I'll pray with them, somethingI'm always going to take action
with the person in front of meto make their life better in
some way.

Speaker 2 (41:39):
Oh, I love that one.
That's fantastic.
Thank you so much for joiningme.
I feel like I just got a nicecoaching session and I'm feeling
a little on fire just to gowork that much harder and that
much more focused.
Just talking to you, so I canonly imagine what you can do for
everyone that really gets tospend quality time with you,
that goes through your programsand overall.

(42:00):
I just want to say thank youfor joining me on this podcast
and I really pray that this hitsthe ears of those that are
willing to change, wanting tochange, but are stuck and they
just send.
They're able to come to you andbe able to just glorify God
through all that they do.
Help you out, help them out sowe can start transforming this
world, to look a little bit morelike the kingdom and tell God

(42:23):
comes.

Speaker 1 (42:24):
Amen.

Speaker 2 (42:25):
Amen.
Well, thank you again, and Ihope you have a great rest of
your week, bridget.
