A fortified hospital, a flickering power grid, and a psych ward that plays tricks on your head—this gauntlet throws everything at us and then some. We set a single objective—reach the roof for extraction—and make a series of messy, decisive moves to get there: a salt “oval” for confidence, a tarp that doubles as a map and gear hauler, a compass that turns into crowd bait, and just enough tiger spray to open lanes when the stairwells close in.

The psych ward forces us to solve for perception first: hallucinations, real humans, and the question that matters—do we treat it like a ghost or a threat? We keep roles tight and rules simple: back-to-back movement, short commands, and constant forward progress. When a locked door halts the run, we go full puzzle-solver and unearth a hidden code with lemon juice and heat. On the roof, scaffolding transforms from background noise to a proper barricade, buying the time needed to plan a quiet descent via a covered trash chute and a loud distraction pitched to the far side of the building.

The parking structure is the final test: fifth-floor pickup, limited spray, and a shadow on our heels. We choose the side stairwell for predictable geometry and use nuisance tactics—pocket salt, noise control, spacing—to avoid the crush. The last moments are pure coordination: one of us braces the door while the other grabs the ladder; then a tarp toss and pocket sand break the final grab, and the helicopter pulls us into clean air. Through jokes and chaos, the theme stays serious: preparedness is a mindset. Small tools and smart timing can outpace bigger problems, whether it’s blackout, storm, or full-on zombie circus.

If tactical problem-solving, survival psychology, and cinematic chaos are your thing, you’ll love this run. Stick around to hear who wins the gauntlet, what movie we’re queuing up next, and why a simple tarp might be the most underrated tool in your kit. Enjoyed the ride? Follow, share with a friend who loves zombies, and drop a review with the one item you’d never leave behind.

(00:39):
Alex is the dungeon master whomakes shit ten times too
complicated and you forget 99%of the shit, is what Sam says.

SPEAKER_04 (00:47):
Hey.

SPEAKER_03 (00:48):
That is so accurate.
I wasn't taking notes becauseyou said we didn't have to, and
now I wish I was taking notes.

SPEAKER_01 (00:56):
You don't need to take notes.
I took everything.
I have it all.

SPEAKER_02 (00:59):
I'd like to use my blunt of invincibility.

SPEAKER_01 (01:03):
Go ahead.

SPEAKER_02 (01:07):
As long as I'm smoking, I'm invincible.

SPEAKER_01 (01:10):
Okay, so here we go.
Good idea.
You have all of your gear, allof your skills.
You wake up in a fortifiedhospital.
Okay.
The power is flickering.
There's zombies roaming allaround outside in the streets.
Inside of the building, you'replagued with a few things.
You have a psych ward that willmess you up just like 1408.

(01:35):
Okay.
Okay.
But now, well, let me finishthis.
You have 15 minutes before helpis gonna arrive.
You have to find a way that youcan get out, and the only way
through is through the psychward.
Okay?
You have your salt circle, youhave your pile bioluminescent

(01:57):
compass, you have your tacticalunity, you do have your mental
fortitude, and you guys have youhave plenty of plot armor
tokens.

SPEAKER_02 (02:04):
Okay, I'm sorry.
What's the goal?
To get out.
We have a tarp.
Tarp equals map.
We have a map of the hospital.

SPEAKER_01 (02:11):
You have a map of the hospital.
The only way out is through thepsych ward.
That's why I told you that.
Okay.
You didn't have to figure any ofthat stuff out.
So who do you want to be theteam leader?

SPEAKER_02 (02:19):
TJ.
Eric is the leader of thepodcast, as I've been saying.

SPEAKER_03 (02:23):
Homie, I am not to be included in this episode.
I'm so tired right now.
I am not the person you wantleading this right now.

unknown (02:32):
Ooh.

SPEAKER_02 (02:34):
Ooh.
Okay, I'll be the fucking teamleader.

SPEAKER_01 (02:39):
Okay.
So you're gonna have to gothrough the psych ward, but you
have to pick which way you wantto go, either to the rooftop or
to the underground undergroundtunnel.

SPEAKER_03 (02:49):
I think we kind of decided this right.
Rooftop?
Yeah, what we were saying, likeuh no really good option there,
but fuck a tunnel.
Let's go to the roof.
Alright, we go to the roof.

SPEAKER_01 (03:01):
So as you go through the uh the psych ward, you
experience hallucinations.
God damn it, I'm so sorry.
This thing is so fidgety, itkeeps jumping all the way back
up to the top, and then I haveto scroll all the way back down
again.
You're suffering hallucinations,memory manipulation, and
fear-based illusions.
Now, you're able to maintainyour your sanity with your

(03:22):
mental fortitude.
How would you choose to combatthese these entities?
Number one, do you believethey're entities?
Do you believe they're in yourhead?

SPEAKER_03 (03:32):
What were what were some of the items we had again?

SPEAKER_01 (03:34):
So you have your gear is the salt circle.
You have a compass, you have amap, you have your mental
fortitude, and you have uh yourtactical unity.

SPEAKER_03 (03:42):
I say we use our tactical unity to make a giant
salt circle while we walkthrough the through the uh
cycle.

SPEAKER_01 (03:52):
You're gonna you're gonna make a salt circle while
you Right.

SPEAKER_03 (03:56):
So what I'm thinking is like we both start at the
same point, and then we goopposite sides, and as we're
walking down this hallway, uhdown the sideboard, we're just
uh pouring salt, and then if itever seems like a ghost is
coming at us, we quickly closethe circle because we're back to
back.
That makes sense.
We're making more like a saltoval.

SPEAKER_01 (04:14):
So you get it.

SPEAKER_02 (04:15):
We want a circle, that's an oval.

SPEAKER_01 (04:18):
What is that from?

SPEAKER_02 (04:20):
Uh fucking Spongebob.
They're fucking trying to fendoff sea bears.
I remember that.
You drew an oval, you'resupposed to draw a circle, and
then Squidward gets fucked up bythe sea bear.
How does that work?

SPEAKER_01 (04:33):
So, what I need you to do, TJ, is you're gonna tell
us, you're gonna tell us atraumatic memory.
It could be real, it could befake.
Doesn't matter.

SPEAKER_02 (04:42):
I was walking down the street one day, you know,
with my clown girlfriend.
She was so hot.
Great honkers.
And we're walking down thestreet, and up comes this this
little ass car skirts right infront of us on the fucking
sidewalk.
Damn near lost my life.
Then out jumps 32 of her clownexes.

(05:06):
And when I say they they beatthe shit out of me, they kick
the fuck out of me with them bigass clown shoes.
They make you a balloon animal?
I'm I'm still afraid of balloonanimals to this day.

SPEAKER_03 (05:17):
They beat you with balloon bats, huh?

SPEAKER_02 (05:19):
Yeah.

SPEAKER_03 (05:20):
Fuck, I'm so sorry, dude.

SPEAKER_02 (05:21):
All the all the squeaky noises and fucking
flowers with water sprayingeverywhere.
They pulled out guns and theypulled the trigger, and then all
that came out was a flag thatsaid bang.
Oh my, they banged you?
They banged me, man.
The bun, they're a bunch ofclown bangers on this corner of
the street.

SPEAKER_01 (05:40):
No, I'm traumatized.

SPEAKER_03 (05:41):
Not clown bangs, dude.
I'm so sorry, man.

SPEAKER_01 (05:44):
I'm traumatized.

SPEAKER_03 (05:46):
Back clown bangs, I would be too.

SPEAKER_01 (05:49):
That was that was that was clever.
Okay.
Your uh your salt oval works.

unknown (05:56):
Yes.

SPEAKER_03 (05:57):
Yeah.
That was awful.
That's what we were determiningright there.

SPEAKER_01 (06:00):
That was terrible.

SPEAKER_02 (06:01):
37 of them, dude, out of this little ass car.

SPEAKER_01 (06:04):
I love it.
I love it.

SPEAKER_02 (06:05):
That number increased.

SPEAKER_01 (06:06):
But I I like even better how she was your clown
girlfriend.
You had to you had to set thatup.

SPEAKER_02 (06:12):
Clown girlfriend.
She had great honkers.
I love that one.
That's a good job.
Honk honk awoga.
Anyways, um, what do we do next?

SPEAKER_03 (06:24):
We have to hard eyes that yeah, they'll fucking come
out.
Yeah.
Just a fucking Looney Tunecharacter.
Boat horn.

SPEAKER_01 (06:33):
As you continue through the psych ward, you
notice that there are realpeople in here, and they are
coming at you with ferocity.
They want to hurt you.
What is your what is yourreaction?
What is your response?
How do you defend yourself fromwhat you think is real and what
you think is a hallucination?

SPEAKER_02 (06:54):
Well, hear me out.
Me and Eric, we just likecontinue being back to back, and
then we got our tiger spray, andwe just spray.
We just spin around in a circleand spray.
That will get in our eyes.

(07:18):
It's Leon and I think ChrisRedfield, and they're in a
hallway.
And Leon's doing this shitfucking backflips and shit.
That's all right.

SPEAKER_03 (07:29):
I'm here for it.
What does that do for us?

SPEAKER_01 (07:31):
Say it again.
How how is it?

SPEAKER_02 (07:33):
You know?
And then we we spin around incircles and shit.
We're doing backflips.
It looks dope.
It looks dope as fuck.

SPEAKER_01 (07:40):
Okay.
Yeah, you spray Eric in theeyes.

SPEAKER_02 (07:44):
What the fuck?

SPEAKER_01 (07:46):
And now he falls and smears the salt circle.
So now you have both the ghostsand the people coming at you.
What do you do, TJ?

SPEAKER_02 (07:58):
Do we do we have a mirror we can trap these in?
I heard mirrors are really goodfor this situation.
Yeah, is that in our item listsomewhere?
Not no mirror.
I check the walls.
Is there any reflections on thewalls?
Do we have holy water?

SPEAKER_01 (08:16):
There's there's no you don't see a mirror on the
wall, but you do see a tray thathas a uh reflective surface.

SPEAKER_02 (08:25):
I think I think I'm gonna trap them all into that
reflective surface.
I I think I think it's a portalto the other world.

SPEAKER_01 (08:33):
So you lift it up to try to trap the the entity, and
it's a uh a real person whosmashes the tray right back into
your face.
TJ falls down on the ground.
What do you do, Eric?

SPEAKER_03 (08:47):
Uh, I smashed the mirror on their face.

SPEAKER_01 (08:49):
It's not a mirror, it's a tray.

SPEAKER_03 (08:50):
We don't have a mirror?

SPEAKER_01 (08:52):
It's down on the ground with TJ.
You want to grab it?
Or are you gonna try to defendhim?

SPEAKER_03 (08:57):
What does this other guy have?

SPEAKER_01 (08:58):
His hands.
And all he did was he grabbedlike like TJ put up the the tray
in front of his face, and theguy just grabbed it and smashed
it into TJ's face, and they bothfell down on the ground.

SPEAKER_03 (09:10):
I'm gonna pocket salt him really quick.

SPEAKER_01 (09:13):
Pocket salt.

SPEAKER_03 (09:14):
Yeah, I always keep a little you try the pocket salt
and you get shot in your left.

SPEAKER_01 (09:18):
You nail him.
You nail him right in the eyes.
Yeah, he falls off the side.

SPEAKER_03 (09:24):
And then I grab the tray and I whack him.

SPEAKER_01 (09:26):
Okay.
And you you hit him in theperfect spot, knock him cold
out.

SPEAKER_03 (09:32):
I want to loony tunes him so hard that a bump
grows on his head.

SPEAKER_01 (09:35):
He he's he's out, he's unconscious.
What do you want to do?

SPEAKER_03 (09:38):
Uh is TJ unconscious?

SPEAKER_01 (09:40):
No, TJ's not unconscious.
He just got knocked the helldown.

SPEAKER_03 (09:42):
Okay, I pull out speaking salts that I brought
from home and I put them rightup to TJ's nose.

SPEAKER_01 (09:48):
You're gonna you brought smelling salts?

SPEAKER_03 (09:50):
Yeah, I was I was keeping them with me.

SPEAKER_01 (09:52):
Okay, your smelling salts you that you thought you
had, you mistook was justchapstick.

SPEAKER_03 (09:57):
I just use regular salt then.

SPEAKER_01 (09:59):
And throw it in his face?

SPEAKER_03 (10:01):
I just put it up TJ's nose.

SPEAKER_01 (10:03):
You put salt up TJ's nose.
It's good enough.
It uh bothers him so much, he uhgets up off of the ground
because he was never knockedout.
He was just lying down becausehe got knocked down.

SPEAKER_03 (10:14):
I'm making smelling salt.

SPEAKER_01 (10:16):
You're cause you're saying he smells?
Yeah, he's smelling them.
Well, he got so annoyed with youthat he slapped your hand away
and he's standing up now.
You what are you guys doing?
Why you gotta be like that, TJ?

SPEAKER_02 (10:29):
Uh well, you know, I'm looking at the map and I
know the exact perfect route.
So I just take that.

SPEAKER_01 (10:36):
I follow.
You're you're looking at themap.

SPEAKER_02 (10:39):
At our tarp, yeah.
Yeah, at our tarp map.
It's a square you see, so thatmakes it a map.

SPEAKER_01 (10:44):
Now the route is is perfect, but now you have
enemies in your in your path.
How are you going to get pasthow would you dis how would you
decipher between hallucinationghosts and real people?

SPEAKER_02 (10:59):
Um it's simple.
I too have mental health issues.
So I've had years of practice.
I can decipher which ones arewhich.

SPEAKER_03 (11:11):
Uh, I call out and I say, uh, ghosts say what?

SPEAKER_01 (11:16):
Ghosts say what?
Uh yeah, TJ's didn't work.

SPEAKER_03 (11:20):
Um I turned into yours.

SPEAKER_01 (11:24):
Ironically enough, you say uh ghosts say what, and
um you at least got some kind ofa response.
So you have an idea of theghosts.
You still don't know thehallucination or the real people
one from the other.
What do you do?

SPEAKER_03 (11:38):
I rub my eyes like a Looney Tunes carry and do that.

SPEAKER_02 (11:42):
Uh I I take my eyeballs out like SpongeBob,
clean them on my shirt, and thenput them back in.

SPEAKER_01 (11:48):
Okay.
Uh that that happened to work.
Uh not TJ's.
Your uh Looney Tunes.

SPEAKER_03 (11:55):
Yeah, TJ's eyes are now outside of his skull.

SPEAKER_01 (11:58):
And uh I'm counting there, dude.
I'm counting that as you guystelling me that you're using
your mental fortitude.
That's what I was going for, bythe way.
You only have fucking threeitems.
Yeah, it's pretty much what wesaid.
Yeah, that's what you said.
You rubbed your eyes like aLooney Tunes character, like a
wee, wee, wee.

SPEAKER_02 (12:15):
And what I do next is I run and then I paint a
thing on the wall that lookslike a tunnel.
I run through that tunnel, andthen the ghosts try to come
after me, but they it's just awall.

SPEAKER_01 (12:28):
Okay, yeah, that didn't work, and you run right
into the wall and fall down.

SPEAKER_03 (12:31):
Hey, I walk up behind you and I pat you on the
back and I caught you.
That was a really good try.

SPEAKER_01 (12:35):
But you do have birds flying over your head in a
con in a uh perfect circle.

SPEAKER_02 (12:41):
Why are we going the Looney Tunes right now?
I shoe the birds away.
No, we shoot the birds away.

SPEAKER_01 (12:47):
Okay, you shoe the birds away.
What are you doing now?
All you have are psychopaths inyour in your way now.

SPEAKER_03 (12:53):
Uh I get a camera with night vision.

SPEAKER_01 (12:55):
Well, you can see them.

SPEAKER_03 (12:57):
I was making an outlast one.

SPEAKER_02 (12:59):
I actually I look exactly like the uh the monsters
from uh from the one movie withSandra Bullock.
A quiet place.
No, other one bird box.
Bird box.
I was gonna say a blind sidebecause the movie you absolutely
hate.
The monster from the blind side?

(13:21):
I look like Michael Orr.

SPEAKER_01 (13:24):
Don't do that.
Wow.
Okay.
So uh yeah, no.
They're actually they're itdoesn't work.
Um they do not think that you'rebeautiful.
They're lost, they swipe at you, start smacking you all over the
face.
What are our items?
Beating you about the face andneck.
You have the tiger spray, whichyou've kind of used, so let's be

(13:50):
sparing on that.

SPEAKER_02 (13:52):
I would like to use the tiger spray and spray them
in the face.
I'd like to use our tigerwhistle and summon a tiger.
I'd like to I'd like to pull apokeyball out of my back pocket
and summon that silverbackgorilla from earlier.

SPEAKER_01 (14:09):
So you do have a uh primate distraction kit.
Ooh, yeah, that's it.

SPEAKER_03 (14:15):
Wait, that that's what we said.

SPEAKER_02 (14:17):
Yeah, I that's what I meant.
The primate distraction kit.
I want to use that becausepeople are primates.
Evolution, I think.

SPEAKER_01 (14:25):
Technically, right?
I told you that.
So that works.
You get some of them to leaveyour path.
You have a door in front of youwith just two or three of these
psychopaths in your way.
Do you try to fight them or tryto dodge them?

SPEAKER_02 (14:44):
I feel like we should walk past.
Hello, my fellow psychopath.

SPEAKER_03 (14:49):
I feel like we should dodge because I think
we've taken enough head injuriesso far.

SPEAKER_00 (14:53):
TJ has.

SPEAKER_01 (14:56):
Okay.
So they come back.
You get by the first two, andthe third one, as you think
you're getting past him, heturns back around and grabs Eric
by the arm.
Starts rambling nonsense in hisears.

(15:16):
Three! Three, four, four! Three! What are you doing?

SPEAKER_02 (15:21):
I type that code into the door.

SPEAKER_03 (15:23):
Yeah, three, three, four, four, three.

SPEAKER_01 (15:26):
And that's not the right code.

SPEAKER_03 (15:29):
It just uh it just do we know how many digits this
code is?

SPEAKER_01 (15:35):
No.
We have no clue.

SPEAKER_03 (15:37):
Try three four three.

SPEAKER_01 (15:39):
Nope, that's not the code, and now this guy's getting
agitated, and he's grabbed youby both arms, Eric, and he's
shaking you violently and justscreaming random nonsense in
your face.
What do you do?

SPEAKER_03 (15:55):
Uh fuck.
What other items do we have?

SPEAKER_01 (15:59):
You have uh compass, you have the salt, you have the
tiger deterrent spray.

SPEAKER_03 (16:08):
Okay.
I pocket salt him.
Just give the pocket salt, dude.

SPEAKER_01 (16:13):
You salt him in the eyes, he lets go of your arms,
and what are you doing?

SPEAKER_02 (16:18):
I take the compass and I'm like, ooh, look, shiny,
shiny compass, look, and then Ithrow it away.
Far, far away, and he he'llfollow it.

SPEAKER_01 (16:28):
So he follows it, uh, but you've good thinking.
You've attracted a couple ofothers to you.
What are you guys gonna do?

SPEAKER_03 (16:35):
Uh I heard that compass was Teddy Roosevelt's.
It's probably worth a lot ofmoney.

SPEAKER_01 (16:42):
It works.
They all run over to thecompass.
What uh what are you doing now?

SPEAKER_02 (16:48):
Idiots is actually frank.

SPEAKER_01 (16:50):
They're all fighting for it.

SPEAKER_02 (16:51):
Hey, also, what's the code?

SPEAKER_01 (16:54):
You're asking them what the code is?
Yeah.
Uh they don't even answer you.

SPEAKER_03 (16:58):
Yeah, that checks out.

SPEAKER_02 (16:59):
I uh I ask uh I I I ask I grab a piece of paper and
I I make a Ouija board.

SPEAKER_03 (17:08):
I have a great idea before we do this.
Yes.
I I flip the map over, I getlemon juice and a match, and I
go full national treasure onthis bitch, and I'm looking for
the secret code in the back ofthe map.

SPEAKER_01 (17:25):
Okay, you find a code written on the back of the
map.
It's the Templars, man.
It is 61315.

SPEAKER_02 (17:36):
I type in 61315 into the door.

SPEAKER_01 (17:40):
It opens.
You enter into a stairwell.
Which way did you guys say youwant to go?
Rooftop?
Up rooftop.
Rooftop.
So you're going close.

SPEAKER_02 (17:49):
Stop going up.

SPEAKER_01 (17:51):
And as you're going up, uh you hear there are
zombies inside of this stairwelljust below you.
You what do you do?

SPEAKER_03 (18:05):
What other items do we have left?

SPEAKER_01 (18:07):
You just have your map, your primate distraction
kit, your tiger spray, yourcompass, and your salt.
I mean, the answer could just befucking run.

SPEAKER_03 (18:20):
Yeah, well I was gonna say, like, is there
anything like World War Z style, like in the stairwell that we
could use to fire axe on thewall?
Unlodge and let it crush them?

SPEAKER_01 (18:34):
There there is a fire axe, but it's up uh another
flight of stairs.
You see the the box on the wall?

SPEAKER_03 (18:41):
Let's rush to that.

SPEAKER_01 (18:43):
You wanna run?

SPEAKER_03 (18:45):
Oh, do they know we're there?

SPEAKER_01 (18:47):
No, they don't know you're there yet.

SPEAKER_02 (18:48):
Oh, oh, we'd be quiet until they notice you.
Be quiet and walk very lightlyup the stairs.

SPEAKER_01 (18:54):
Okay, so I'm gonna assume you also want to quietly
close the door.

SPEAKER_03 (18:59):
Yeah.

SPEAKER_01 (19:00):
Because the um you gotta be quick about this,
right?

SPEAKER_03 (19:04):
The second they notice us, we're gonna bolt, but
we're gonna try to get as far upas we can without them noticing.

SPEAKER_01 (19:11):
As you guys are closing the door behind you, one
of the fucking lunatics comesrunning up and gets his arm in
the door before you've got itclosed, and he's yelling and
screaming.
Calling, calling out.

SPEAKER_02 (19:24):
Now I quickly run up and grab that fire axe, run back
down and chop his arm off.

SPEAKER_01 (19:30):
Okay, you successfully get up, get the
fire axe, come back down, chophis arm off.
Door closes, zombies are areaware of you, they are running
up the stairs.
They're two flights below you.

SPEAKER_02 (19:41):
I grab the arm and I use it as bait, and I throw it
down the stairs, and they'll bedistracted by it.

SPEAKER_01 (19:48):
And your uh your bait is working for the first uh
group of them.
The rest who can't get to thatarm are climbing over those that
are going after the arm.

SPEAKER_03 (20:01):
Got another another lane.

SPEAKER_01 (20:04):
You have the axe, and you are three stories below
the roof.
What do you do?

SPEAKER_03 (20:10):
I say we just make our way to the roof, yeah?
Yeah, run to up to the roof.

SPEAKER_01 (20:14):
Okay, you guys are running up to the roof.
You get all the way up to thetop landing, and a zombie
reaches out and grabs Eric uh onthe the pant legs from behind.
So he's holding him up.
He can't he can't get away.
What do you do?

SPEAKER_02 (20:30):
I chop the zombie's arm off.

SPEAKER_01 (20:34):
Success.
You chop the arm off.

SPEAKER_02 (20:37):
You guys get to the chop Eric chop Eric's leg off.

SPEAKER_01 (20:41):
You get to the roof door, you're outside of the
door.
What do you do?

SPEAKER_03 (20:46):
Can we peek in or like peek out?
Is there anything on the roof?

SPEAKER_01 (20:50):
You can peek out, but they're running.
Like they're they're coming foryou.

SPEAKER_03 (20:55):
Oh, then I think uh can we get out onto the roof?
And then is there any way to useour axe to barricade the door?
Like, is there a lock slot orsomething?

SPEAKER_01 (21:05):
So you get out onto the roof, and there is a way
that you can lock the you canbar use the axe to barricade the
door.
It's not extremely firm, so itclearly won't hold for long.
What are you doing?

SPEAKER_02 (21:19):
Uh well clearly these zombies are being
controlled by a witch.
You guys want to that'sparanormal.
So I put a lens at the door andthen do what Eric said and
barricade it.

SPEAKER_01 (21:32):
Okay.
Uh the the axe is gonna work,it's gonna hold temporarily.
The salt apparently does nothingto them.
They're still trying to get outat you.
Wow, it's worth a try.
Um, you guys want to do any kindof uh a search around the roof?
See what you got?

SPEAKER_02 (21:47):
Yes.
What's on the roof?

SPEAKER_01 (21:49):
So what you've noticed up there is you have a
scaffolding that the bars and uhjoints would work perfectly for
locking that door, and it wouldcross the entire frame of the
door and work as a an effectivebarricade blocking the zombies
from coming up.

SPEAKER_02 (22:09):
We can do that.

SPEAKER_01 (22:10):
You're gonna have to dismantle it before they get
through the before they breakthe axe.

SPEAKER_03 (22:15):
I think we could do that.
Yeah.

SPEAKER_01 (22:17):
Okay.
Both of you?
You're both gonna work on this?

SPEAKER_03 (22:20):
Yeah.
Two more.

SPEAKER_01 (22:23):
Uh you guys are successful.
You break down the scaffolding, you get the pipes lodged uh both
horizontally and vertically, that number one, they're holding
the the uh doorknob so that theycan't pull, and it's a uh it's a
pull open door, so they can'tpull it, they can't get it open
without uh breaking apart theentire thing, and they're not

(22:46):
really smart enough to do it.
So you hear the the knockssubsiding, and you guys go over
to your you've already lookedfor the um the equipment on the
roof.
Now you're gonna look for anescape route, I'm assuming.
Would that be accurate?
Uh uh.
So uh yeah.
So all you've got to do is getout of here for the helicopter

(23:08):
to come and get you, okay?

SPEAKER_02 (23:09):
Well, good thing this uh this mall was clearly
under construction because therewas scaffolding there, so there
must be a trash chute hangingoff the side of the building.

SPEAKER_01 (23:18):
That is accurate.

SPEAKER_03 (23:20):
Are there zombies down there?

SPEAKER_01 (23:22):
There are zombies, but they're not near the uh the
trash chute.
And the trash chute happens tobe uh it's it's one of those
that is um it's the protectivecoating so that the trash
doesn't go flying everywhere.
So if you wanted to, you couldclimb down it without causing a
lot of noise.

SPEAKER_02 (23:42):
Is there anything we can use on the roof that could
make noise somewhere furtheraway?

SPEAKER_01 (23:48):
Yes, you still have more scaffolding and you have uh
they have some rope and you havesome netting.
I think the kind of netting toblock things from falling down
on top of people.

SPEAKER_02 (24:00):
We want that right now, right?
I think we just take uh like abunch of the parts of the
scaffolding and chuck them offthe side of the roof that the
trash chute's not on, so itmakes a bunch of metal clanging
noises, and then we quickly goto the trash chute, make no
noise going down it, hopefully.

SPEAKER_01 (24:16):
Okay.
The throwing the scaffolding onthe opposite side of the
building is a success.
You throw it over, and some ofthe metal, you know, hits them
on the head, so it doesn't makea whole lot of noise, but a lot
of it and the the wood uh planksthemselves are smacking flat on
the ground, so they make loudslapping noises, they draw a lot
of attention, and you guys thengo climb down the the trash

(24:40):
chute.
Uh as you're climbing down, youslip and fall down, and or yeah,
you you do, TJ.
You slip and you fall down, youtwist your ankle, not sprain,
you twist your ankle, and soyou're gonna need a couple of
seconds to recoup.
You've made enough noise that afew zombies have heard you.
What are you doing?

SPEAKER_03 (25:00):
Eric, you gotta leave me.
Okay, I'm sorry.

SPEAKER_02 (25:03):
Crash course the situation.
We climbed down the ship.
I fell.
I twisted my ankle.
You're okay.
Multiple zombies are headingtowards our direction.
You need to run in a differentdirection and scream so that
they go towards you, and then Ican stumble away.
Okay, I do that.

SPEAKER_01 (25:22):
Okay.
You successfully uh decoy thezombies to you.
So now you're attracting evenmore because they they hear you,
they see you, they smell you, they're coming all at you.
TJ is able to get up and startmoving.
He's walking it off, and nowhe's starting to even jog.
What do you do?

SPEAKER_03 (25:42):
Um good thing you got the prime a distraction
device.
I was gonna say, what is it?
Do we still have that or did weuse it?

SPEAKER_01 (25:48):
You have it.

SPEAKER_03 (25:49):
I'm gonna use that.
I'm gonna try to use that so Ican get back to TJ.

SPEAKER_01 (25:52):
Okay, so it works on some of them, but the mass horde
is coming after both of you.
Do you join back together orsplit up?

SPEAKER_03 (26:01):
Oh, join back together, right?
Yeah.

SPEAKER_01 (26:03):
Okay.
You're able to.
There's no zombies in the middleof you guys.
What you're trying to do is getout of this parking lot.
Now it's a hospital.
I know you said mall.
It's a hospital.
You're trying to get out of thisparking lot without getting torn
up by these zombies.
Uh, this this uh escape route isgonna be on the top of the
neighboring parking lot uhparking structure.
So you gotta get up onto thefifth floor of the parking

(26:25):
structure.
You guys are on the secondfloor.

SPEAKER_03 (26:28):
I say we just we should start making our way up,
right?

SPEAKER_01 (26:30):
Do you want to go straight for a stairwell?
Do you want to go up the carramp?
Do you want to try to climb upthe outside?

SPEAKER_02 (26:38):
I think one of those stairwells like that are on the
side would be like the fastest, probably.
I agree.

SPEAKER_03 (26:44):
Probably the least safe, but I think we can handle
it.

SPEAKER_01 (26:47):
And when you first open it up, you see there's a
couple of zombies right upinside.
What do you do?

SPEAKER_03 (26:52):
Uh, I say we spray them and run.
Yep.

SPEAKER_01 (26:56):
It works just long enough.
You can get by them.
You're going up, you're on thethird floor now.
You gotta get to the fifthfloor.
Fifth floor floor is the root,is the rooftop, and you are
aware that the helicopter iscoming.
All you have to do is get ontothat rooftop.

SPEAKER_03 (27:11):
Okay, so we keep going up to the fifth floor.

SPEAKER_01 (27:13):
Okay, you have another zombie coming at you
from behind.
He's uh shaking off the thespray, and he's not a he's not a
runner, but he's a little morefresh, so he's on your heels.
Do you try to do you try to slowhim down or just run faster?

unknown (27:30):
Shh.

SPEAKER_03 (27:30):
I we could probably trip him, right, with something.

SPEAKER_02 (27:33):
We have our tarp.
What if we just chuck our tarpon top of him?

SPEAKER_03 (27:36):
I feel like the tarp's so versatile, but maybe.
What else?

SPEAKER_02 (27:40):
We got salt.
Pocket salt.

SPEAKER_01 (27:43):
If you toss your if you toss your tarp, you're
getting rid of all of yourequipment.
That's what's holding all ofyour equipment.
Uh but it is versatile.

SPEAKER_02 (27:50):
I think we chuck as we're running up the stairs, we
just start chucking salt behindus.

SPEAKER_01 (27:56):
Okay.
You're you're chucking salt, butit's not hitting anything.
Are you just gonna make a breakfor it, sprint to the to the
rooftop door?

SPEAKER_00 (28:03):
I think so.
Yes.

SPEAKER_01 (28:05):
Okay, you successfully get out onto the
rooftop door.
You slam the door behind you.
Both of you are leaning upagainst the door as you're
waiting for the helicopter tocome.
The zombies have gotten up tothat door, they're pounding on
it, and you see the helicopteron approach, they're making too
much noise, and there's windowsin the stairwell, so the other
zombies are starting to hearthis, starting to come up.

(28:26):
The helicopter on approach dropsa ladder down.
Uh, not it's not gonna land allthe way.
So one of you is gonna have toleave to go get on that on that
ladder first before the other,so that you don't allow all of
them to come out at the sametime.
Which one of you is gonna go?

SPEAKER_02 (28:43):
I'll hold the door.
I'm stronger.

SPEAKER_01 (28:44):
Okay.
Eric successfully gets to theladder and starts climbing,
climbing up some rungs.
TJ, you're starting to getpushed off of the door.
The door is starting to open.
You see their fingers comingthrough the door.
Uh, do you keep pushing backwith uh uh with your back?
Do you turn around and startpushing with your hands?
Which way do you feel likeyou're stronger?

SPEAKER_02 (29:06):
Well, you see how doors work.
Um, I'm just gonna put my footat like the base of the door,
and no matter how hard they pushit, they're just not gonna be
able to open it.

SPEAKER_03 (29:15):
That's a solid strat actually.

SPEAKER_01 (29:16):
Success.
It's working.
They're not able to comethrough.
Uh, they're not able to reallyhurt you.
And Eric has now climbed up farenough that you can run and get
on the ladder.
Do you just go?

SPEAKER_02 (29:29):
What items do I have with me?

SPEAKER_01 (29:31):
You have everything.
You have the primate distractionkit, you have the tiger spray,
you have salt, compass, map.

SPEAKER_02 (29:40):
Okay.
So I somehow majigger the sprayand the distraction kit on top
of the door.
I take the compass needle and Iplace it on there.
So once they open the door, itfalls, puncturing the spray can
for the tiger spray.
Then the impact of that turns onthe distraction kit.

(30:04):
I then throw the tarp.
Uh if they like make it through,I throw the tarp at them, and uh
I try to cover their faces asI'm sprinting and jump towards
the ladder at the last moment, and I survive because I'm
amazing.

SPEAKER_01 (30:18):
Okay, well, your uh your jiggering uh didn't even
work because they're pounding onthe door, the top part of it is
shaking so much that it fallsdown.
You run and throw the tarp atthem, that actually catches
quite a few of them.
Uh the rest are coming rightdown on you.
You get onto the ladder and youstart climbing up.

(30:40):
One of them grabs a hold of yourleg.
What do you do?

SPEAKER_02 (30:44):
I actually have a uh I got this whole thing where um,
you know, like SpongeBob,because it's you know, uh, I can
actually regrow limbs after Ipop them off.
So I just like pop my leg offand then regrow it.

SPEAKER_03 (30:57):
I throw a pocket sand at him.

SPEAKER_01 (30:59):
You okay, all right.
I'm gonna go with the pocketsand.
It actually works.
I can't fucking believe the therolling you guys are getting on
this is unfortunate.
I if I hadn't gotten so farthrough with me rolling for you

(31:20):
guys, I would have fucking madeyou roll because this is unreal.

SPEAKER_03 (31:23):
Like oh, you've been rolling?

SPEAKER_01 (31:25):
Yeah.
The amount of times you guyshave gotten 15, 16, I was gonna
say, I'm surprised we're gonnago away with 20 minutes.
I'm like, this is fuckingunreal.
Like there were a couple thatyou have, it's a um it's a
digital die, so it's a d20 and ad6, and you guys the highest you
guys have gotten so far is 25.
But like, I don't I don't know.

(31:45):
Uh if I I could have just beenlike TJ, I guess, and just said
you got bit just because, butnope.
You guys successfully get away, and both of you survived.

SPEAKER_03 (31:56):
Hell yeah.

SPEAKER_01 (31:57):
Those are your bonus points.

SPEAKER_03 (31:59):
Hey, and that's called uh strategy.

SPEAKER_02 (32:02):
That's called teamwork makes the dream work on
all players escape.
WIS baby.

SPEAKER_03 (32:07):
That's called Wonder Pets right there.

SPEAKER_01 (32:09):
All players escape with gear intact.
That's called full survival.
What you guys get to do withthat.
We keep our tarp.
You keep your tarp.
Yes.
Tarp equals map.
That uh tarp equals everything.
The tarp after TJ threw it onthe zombies was lifted up by the
wind and floated right back upto the helicopter.

SPEAKER_02 (32:28):
Fucking Mjolnir tarp shit came back and wasn't.

SPEAKER_01 (32:33):
Like this is unreal.
Your guys' luck on this.
I should have I should havestarted rolling for me instead
of for you.

SPEAKER_03 (32:41):
Then you would have rolled bad, trust me.

SPEAKER_01 (32:43):
I know, I I don't know what the heck.
It was like it was so high Icould have had you guys cornered
in no time.
But all players escape with gearintact.
That means that uh you guys, uhteam leader, you get to pick the
winner.

SPEAKER_02 (32:58):
I get to pick the winner of the episode?
Yep.
Yep.
Eric, do you got a movie fornext week?
No, you should pick yourself,homie.

SPEAKER_02 (33:37):

playing with Terry Cruz.
What about the Vivch?
What is that?

SPEAKER_03 (33:55):

the Vitch.

SPEAKER_02 (34:48):

SPEAKER_01 (34:53):

SPEAKER_01 (35:11):

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
