WINDI WASHINGTON had a conversation with SKYLER HEYMAN, the visionary behind A Plant Based Production. Starting as a podcast in 2020, just before the pandemic hit, the brand expanded to include a cooking show featuring Chef John Swafford. The journey evolved into a focus on product development, inspired by Skyler's mom Simone's delicious plant-based recipes from Savannah, GA.
In February 2022, they ventured into manufacturing plant-based sauces, officially launching in January 2023. The labeled jars are now available in various San Diego stores, top farmers markets, and pop-ups. The brand also recently launched its website, offering online ordering to promote the plant-based lifestyle.
Skyler shared insights into the brand's creation, emphasizing the positive impact of a plant-based lifestyle since he adopted it in February 2017. He discussed the importance of innovation in the plant-based food sector, detailing the challenges and breakthroughs in product development. Skyler emphasized the brand's commitment to consumer education, combating misinformation about plant-based diets, and fostering a community around their offerings.
Sustainability is a core value for A Plant Based Production, with Skyler detailing their practices from sourcing ingredients to packaging. He highlighted their dedication to ethical standards throughout the production chain. Staying attuned to market trends is crucial, and Skyler discussed how the brand adapts to changing consumer preferences.
Looking ahead, Skyler shared his vision for the future of A Plant Based Production and the plant-based food industry as a whole, emphasizing continued growth, innovation, and a positive impact on both individuals and the planet.
