Speaker 1 (00:01):
how we doing
everybody and welcome into
wisconsin sports.
Time to go with trage.
I'm your host, trage.
It is wednesday, april 9th isit the 9th or, holy crap, april
9th already here.
The college basketball seasonwrapped up.
We I mean the badgers have beenhot in the news.
So I really want to touch intothe badgers today because we've
(00:22):
seen the Badgers making movesleft and right in the transfer
portal, losing guys.
Right, there is a guy that Idid not expect to leave that
left in the transfer portal.
So I want to get to that.
That was big news yesterday forthe Badgers there Outside of, I
mean, the transfer portal ads, because the ads that Greg Gard's
been pulling in he's crossing.
I had a checklist here.
I told you guys this week Iwanted to go over my needs, my
(00:46):
what I think the badgers need inthe transfer portal.
He's crossing off a lot ofthose.
So I can't wait to talk aboutbadgers today.
We're gonna get to that.
We have, uh, badger football.
I want to talk about that alittle bit.
Badger football I saw vincebeagle on twitter talking about
badger football a little bit.
So I want to touch in with alittle bit of that.
Uh, we got Packer talk.
We're going to have, hopefully,a couple of special guests
coming on tonight here on theshow, per Packer time for a
(01:08):
little Bucks talk here.
So we're going to have a littlebit of that going on.
Goodness, we have all kinds ofstuff happening and, of course,
the Brewers.
Right, of course the Brewers.
We're going to get to Aaron.
Sadly, aaron is not here rightnow.
He will be, he will be right,he will be.
He got tied up at work for alittle bit so he's gonna be late
(01:28):
.
Uh, jumping on tonight here.
So right now we're just gonna,we're gonna touch with what I
thought was the biggest news inwisconsin sports in general
coming into this.
Uh, in the end of the show today, I guess, right, and that was
the brewers, they went out andmade a move and this is a move
that kind of got everybodytalking and it was an
interesting move, right, Ididn't expect it.
So the brewers went in.
(01:49):
I mean, most everybody's gonnaknow about this trade by now.
Right, it's wednesday alreadyhappened.
Right, it happened over there.
On monday the brewers tradedfor quinn priester there from
the uh boston red sox and theysent out their joffrey rodriguez
number seven prospect in thebrewer system and I mean a
pretty goodffrey Rodrigueznumber seven prospect in the
Brewer system and I mean apretty good outfield prospect
right Number seven prospect inyour system there.
(02:11):
He started out the year for theTimber Rattlers.
I believe he's five for 12 atthis very moment down there with
Timber Rattlers.
So he's, I mean, started outpretty well for this Timber
Rattlers team Five for 12 with adouble and a triple in his
first three games there with theWisconsin Timber Riders team
5-12 with a double and a triplein his first three games there
with the Wisconsin Timber Riders.
So pretty darn good start therefor Rodriguez.
He actually already earned atop signing bonus $1.5 million
(02:31):
there in 2023 when he came in inthat international class there
and made it to high eight tobegin 2025.
So pretty quick jump there forRodriguez.
They also sent over the number33 pick.
It was a comp, a pick that theyhad, so they sent that over to
the Red Sox there and then alsoa player to be named later.
So I don't know, like I said, nobody knows who that player to
(02:53):
be named later is, but I've seena lot of people and they're
like I can't say that themajority of people are excited
about this trade.
Right, I'm not going to say Iwas, because I remember Quinn
Priester with the Pirates andall I remember was the last
highlight I remember seeing ofthat was Sal Frelick hitting a
(03:13):
bomb off him.
So, like I don't have many goodmemories of Quinn Priester from
what I see, but what I'm going, and I'm going to take a stab at
it from a different anglebecause it doesn't excite a lot
of people.
Right, it doesn't excite a lotof people, but bros, make a move
like this.
I don't think this was a movebecause you know, we we look at
the injuries right, the injuriesleft, and right now, nestor
(03:35):
Cortez, on there, we have oneone starter from what we
training with Freddy Peralta.
You know, freddy Peralta, nestor Corte, you're going to
have a whole boatload right andit ended up.
Now the only guy you have leftis Freddy.
And then I mean you have ChadPatrick out there and
Alexander's throwing andRodriguez we hope we don't have
to watch him throw anotherinning Right.
But you look at these guys andyou're like, okay, what, what?
(03:58):
This?
This move I don't think was toreplace an injury.
I think this move was.
I think they like Quinn Priester, I'll be honest with you and
you got like, if I'm gonna behonest with anybody, if I trust
one system to fix a pitcher tofigure a guy out and if they
can't figure him out then he's alost cause.
(04:19):
It's the Brewers.
It's the Brewers.
It's Chris Hook.
It's the Brewers.
We've seen it over and overagain.
Burns struggled at one point.
You guys remember that.
I mean after his first yearthere he started to struggle a
little bit.
And the Brewers, I mean theyworked with him, they got him
settled in and he was good, fantastic.
After that the Brewers haveworked wonders with pitchers
(04:41):
coming into their system.
So I understand whereeverybody's got you know
freaking out about.
Oh yo, first off, nobody reallyeven knew who the heck you'll
free Rodriguez.
Everybody's freaking out Causethey're like oh my, we just
traded the number seven prospect.
You didn't know who this numberseven prospect was.
I would take a shot in the dark.
Right, I'm gonna take a shot inthe dark.
77% of you did not know whoyouofri Rodriguez was before
(05:04):
this trade happened.
The only I would say that thepercentage that did they
probably are from Appleton oraround there and they go and
watch the Wisconsin TimberRattlers that would be my guess,
or you know, they study, likesome people study, the minor
league system.
Right, there's a couple ofdifferent ones, but I'm going to
(05:24):
go with.
The majority of the people thatI've seen freaking out on
social media had no idea whothis guy was.
All they know is a number, thathe's number seven.
He's the number seven prospect.
So we're going to freak out.
What was it?
I mean, honestly, end of the day, maybe you could have got more
right, sure, maybe you couldhave got more right.
Sure, maybe he could have gotmore for a guy like joe free
rodriguez.
Maybe he could have, you know, went out and wait until the
(05:46):
trade deadline and then go anduse him and somebody else,
somebody else, and go get a bigbat or whatever.
Right now, guys, teams aren'ttrading pitchers.
You want to know why?
Because nobody is out, mathematically out of the mix
right now.
For anything, teams are stillcompeting.
So at this very moment, you'renot making a trade for, you're
not making a trade for anypitcher that's worthwhile with
(06:08):
prospects, you're not.
So when I look at this trainthat happened here, I boil it
down to matt arnold and thebrewers and I mean, and he goes.
I'm gonna talk about what hesaid here, because he did have a
statement on it, but mattarnold and the brewers, what he
said here because he did have astatement on it, but matt arnold
and the brewers, they just likequinn priester, they I mean
(06:29):
matt arnold mentioned it it isuh.
When he was talking about itthere he said, uh, we really
think this move helps us now andin the future.
Our scouts have, like priester, going back to high school and
he said the injuries weren't theonly factor in this acquisition
.
So he did state basically, theinjuries were a factor, but they
weren't a factor.
He thinks that this, this isgoing to help them now and in
the future.
And I gotta be honest with youguys.
I'll be honest with you, mattarnold, between him, you know,
(06:52):
david stearns, what those guyshave done for this organization
bringing in pieces, fittingpieces, in finding ways to keep
the clubhouse meshed, whateverit is.
These guys have done afantastic job.
So why do we immediately jump to?
We always we do.
We do this as fans, we do thisas fans.
We immediately look at statsand we look at this and we look
(07:15):
at that and we're like this guyis going to be terrible.
That's our immediate conclusion.
We jump to because, oh yeah, hestruggled with the pirates.
Not many guys have done wellwith the Pirates.
The Pirates, I'll be honest withyou when you stink, when you
have a stink team, when yourteam stinks, it's hard to pitch
for that team.
You have no drive, you have nofire.
When you pitch for a crappyteam, it's hard to come to the
(07:38):
ballpark every day and be like,if I go six innings of, I have
to go six innings and pitch oneto maybe zero run baseball to
actually even have a chance towin this game.
That's hard to do.
That's hard to walk in and dothat and have that mindset.
You're a pitcher.
This game is mental.
Three-quarters of the game ofbaseball is mental.
(07:59):
And yet we sit here and we'relike, ah, just because he sucked
with the Pirates, he's going tosuck with the Brewers.
Just because he sucked with theRed Sox a little bit, right, a
little bit, he's barely with theRed Sox.
He had a couple appearanceswith the Red Sox there last year
and I know, goodness gracious,I know he's got 6.23 ERA.
I'm not saying this guy's beengood.
He has not been good Like Iwill be the first to admit he
(08:22):
has not been good 6.23 ERA, 41walks, 69 strikeouts in 99 and
two-thirds innings.
Over his minor league careerhe's 26-17, 3.61 ERA, 87 games,
84 starts, 428 strikeouts in 408and two-thirds innings.
So I mean, the stats aren'treally pretty.
I will say that the stats arenot pretty, but the Brewers have
(08:46):
done a lot more with less.
Be honest with you, and this Iseriously don't think this was a
move that the Brewers were likethis is a guy we're going to
bring him in and he isguaranteed he's going to carry
us.
No, that's not what this movewas.
The Brewers see something inQuinn Priester.
I don't know what.
To be honest with you.
I don't know what to be honestwith you.
(09:10):
I don't know what.
I know he's got a decent changeup.
He's got a couple of decentbreaking balls he's got.
I mean, it's not like he's gotnothing, he's got stuff like
he's got stuff that works.
It's just.
Does he get in the rightmindset, with the right coach,
with the right pitching coach, with the right staff, with the
right catcher, with the rightsystem in the right ballpark?
Does it all come together right?
Because apparently somebodythinks that he's got talent,
(09:32):
right?
Alex Cora um, I saw what he saidthere.
He said he's a good kid and he,you know, went out.
Alex Cora he said he dideverything we asked him to in
the offseason.
He came to spring training witha lot stronger.
He had a good spring training.
But this is where we're atright now, basically saying he
started in the minors, we had tomove him out.
That's what he's basicallysaying by that move there for
them.
But all in all, I'm going to behonest with you.
(09:56):
This move that the Brewers madeYofri Rodriguez the number seven
prospect, he was solid.
He, yofri Rodriguez, the numberseven prospect, he was solid.
He's good.
I think he's going to be good.
But at the same time, wherewere you going to put him?
Like, let's be real, who areyou going to move?
Joriel Mitchell Frelick?
Which one are you going to moveout of the way?
None of them, right?
(10:17):
None of them.
Blake Perkins You're not movingguys, right?
You're talking three, fouryears down the road.
He's in high A right now.
How soon do you think he'sgoing to be at the big league
level?
The pick I mean they traded thenumber 33 pick but they still
have five picks in the top 100.
I mean they have the 20th pick, they have the 32nd pick because
(10:41):
they got that for Willie Adonis, so they pick right before the
33rd.
They have the 59th pick, the68th and the 94th Right and
draft picks.
I mean, honestly, the MLB draft.
I enjoy seeing like, hey, thisguy went number one After the
first pick of the draft, maybe acouple picks, the rest of them.
You're not going to see thatguy for a long time.
(11:01):
For a long time.
You hear his name there.
There it's gone for a while.
Unless you watch minor leaguebaseball with passion, you, you
lose guys like that.
So this move the brewers made inhindsight here, let's get the
hindsight this move the brewersmade, did it make them worse?
No, could it make them better?
Sure, if they can figure outQuinn Priester, sure, he's a
(11:25):
young pitcher, I believe you,Goodness gracious, he's still
young, as far as I know, 24.
He's 24 years old, 24,right-hander.
I mean, he's young yet.
So there's a lot of developingFor a young age being a guy
who's already been to the bigs.
He was in the bigs already in2023 with the Pirates.
(11:46):
There he had 10 games hepitched in and then he pitched
again in 2024 for them there andthen he had the Red Sox last
season.
He's a young pitcher who's gotsome experience at the big
league level and that's huge.
So now it's who knows, do theBrewers even put him at the big
league level start?
Probably because they haveinjuries galore.
Right, they probably have to.
But I mean, outside of that, maybe he starts at the minor
league.
They send him down to the minorleague level.
(12:07):
Once all these guys come back, they try to build him up, get
him ready to go.
We've been playing with AaronAshby.
We might as well play withQuinn Priester now too, right, I
mean I don't think it's areally high risk right now.
It's not a low risk, highreward if they can figure him
out.
So we'll wait and see.
(12:27):
I mean I don't I'm not going tosay I love the move but I don't
hate it, like this isn't a movethat I think is going to.
They weren't making a move thatwas going to try and put them
over top right now and I don'tthink there was a move out there
that they were going to makeright now.
I think they should go getSpencer Turnbull.
I've said that I think theyshould go get Spencer Turnbull,
(12:49):
but as of right now, I don'tthink they're making a move.
Nobody's trading their bestpitchers right now Nobody.
So you're not making a move foran ace.
So what are you going to do?
What do you want?
What are you going to go grab?
Right, I guess that's thequestion that Brewer fans have
to answer themselves.
Everybody who's freaking outright now about Quinn Priester
coming to the Brewers.
What direction are you askingthe Brewers to go to?
Where do you want them to goand find a guy right now?
(13:11):
Because the minors are prettyslim pickings right now for the
Brewers and outside of that, noteam, unless if you want to give
an arm and a leg, which is whatthe Brewers did just for Quinn
Priester.
Right, we're freaking out aboutthis package.
What kind of deal do you thinkyou have to put together for an
actual ace or an actual numberthree in the rotation, because
(13:32):
nobody right now is looking tomove a guy unless you give them
you, basically, in your house.
You want to give me your house?
Sure, give me your house, butright now that's it's not
realistic.
It's not realistic that theBrewers are going to make some
of these moves, right.
So I mean this move right here.
We'll wait and see.
Maybe it ends up with something.
Maybe it ends up with a flop.
Whatever it does, matt Arnoldhas faith.
(13:53):
The Brewers like them.
We'll see what happens there.
So, hey, we're off fast andrunning there.
We're talking Brewers.
We got more to get to onWisconsin Sports on the Go.

(15:59):
I want to get to the best andworst.
Right, because we start a newsegment right.
Two hours now, don, two hours.
The show is now, if you want tocatch us on the backside of
that first hour break there.
But we got new segments here onthe show and the first segment
we got for the night here bestand worst of the week.
So we got our best and worst ofthe week, my worst of the week,
(16:19):
and this is one there's.
I stuck with the Brewers withthis one.
I stuck with the Brewers.
I stuck with the Brewers withthis one.
I stuck with the Brewers.
My worst of the week for theBrewers.
Number one's got to be theinjuries.
Goodness gracious, I have tosay it has got to be the
injuries for the Brewers becausethis pitching staff I mean when
I saw that Nestor Cortez wasnow out after he came back and
(16:42):
pitched a fantastic game aftergetting just shelled against the
Yankeeses and just comes back, pitches a fantastic game.
And then I find out we all golike he's hurt, are you serious?
Right now he's hurt.
It's like what else?
What could go wrong now for theMilwaukee Brewers?
Right, who else could get hurt?
Freddie, like, is it going tobe Freddie next, like, knock on
(17:02):
wood, right, freddie?
Is it going to be Freddie next?
Knock on wood, right?
My hope is, and that's going tobe everybody's hope, right?
This is just the beginning ofthe season and everything.
Once these guys start comingback, like Myers, like Woodruff
Kitana is supposed to be back Ibelieve it's next Friday.
He's going to be eligible, sothat's exciting.
Once Cortez comes back, oncethese guys come back, that
(17:23):
they're ready and they stayhealthy for the rest of the
season knock on wood right Acouple of times there that they
stay healthy and they stayconsistent throughout the season
.
My worry is that this is notmore to come right.
That's sometimes some.
There's some seasons right, andagain, knock on the wood there.
There's some seasons for teamswhere you ask yourself why did
(17:47):
this team struggle in 2025?
Why couldn't they take off?
And everybody's like well, their pitching staff got all
beat up all season long and thatwas the story, because every
season for a team, it seems likeit has those stories.
What went wrong that causedthis?
What went wrong for this?
I hope that that's not.
(18:10):
The storyline for the milwaukeebrewers is that we look back on
this year and it's like itwasn't that matt arnold didn't
go out and sign these guys, right, everybody wishes he would
have went out and signedpitchers now at this point,
right, but it's not that theoffense couldn't do it, it's
that, honestly, you didn't havethe pitchers, you didn't have
anybody healthy and that's whereyou ran into your problems.
So that's where I'm kind of I'mkind of at with the milwaukee
brewers right now.
Is that's my nervousness.
(18:31):
Is that that's going tocontinue.
Now I I'm not gonna word right,so hoping it's not, but we're
going to keep an eye on that one.
So injuries have definitelybeen my worst and it continues
to be the worst of the weekthere.
Also, I got Yelich, contrerasand Hoskins.
Yelich and Contreras I meanContreras is even worse, but
Contreras is batting a whopping.097 right now on the season
(18:53):
there and I don't think he evenhas an RBI.
No, he does not have an RBI,does not have an RBI.
He's got three heads on theseason.
Yelich has four, not muchbetter, and Hoskins has three.
So between all them guys rightnow it has not been a pretty
start.
Has not been a pretty start inthe slightest.
(19:13):
Now at least Hoskins has got acouple RBIs there, yelich has
got five, so I mean at leastthey're knocking in
guys.
But if you want to look at thisteam and you're like, well,
what are they missing yet?
Right, because outside of thepitching, what are they missing?
Right, Well, they, they justwent off and everybody's, you
know, everybody's still freakingout about this team.
Like you know, there's oh,they're still not good.
There's not good guys.
(19:33):
Like they just won five out ofsix there and Yelich is hitting
not worth a darn, gutierrezisn't hitting worth a darn and
they're still back up to 500.
Still playing pretty good darnbaseball.
Now, right, so I mean we'llwait and see with that one.
(19:53):
But those guys are my worst ofthe week so far.
Hopefully they start to pick itup here with the Rockies there
in that series and then movingforward there for the Brewers
because they can definitely usethose guys heating up there.
My best of the week I'm goingto go Sal Frelick and Bryce
Durang.
Sal Frelick leads the Brewers.
(20:15):
He leads them in average rightnow on base percentage 452.
He's got 14 hits, 378 battingaverage right now.
He has been nothing butfantastic for the Brewers here.
I believe his OPS is at 912right now.
He has been huge 17 total bases.
Love to see it.
Love to see itthere.
Jackson Churrio too, I mean, Idon't want to leave him out.
You know 295 batting averagethere, 880 OPS, 13 hits.
He's got nine RBIs, three homeruns, 26 total bases.
(20:37):
He's been fantastic.
It's just the strikeout numbersout, numbers five in the
opening game does not help, but15 in total here to start the
year.
So we'll see if that starts toturn around there.
Bryce terang has his hittingstreak still intact.
So that's exciting there.
That's exciting as of right now, as we're recording, still has
an attack.
We'll see what happens.
But exciting stuff there.
Bryce terang has been hot tostart the year too.
So the young guys are kind ofcarrying the, carrying this team
(21:01):
right now while they're waitingfor contrareras, yellich
Hoskins, those guys to show upto the party and see what
happens and hopefully get thispitching staff healthy
there.
So my next best of the week andthat's where I'm going to lead
into the Badgers here Greg Gard, gregory.
Gregory Gard is cooking in theportal.
He is cooking in this portalright now.
He signed up.
(21:22):
These last ads have been hugein my eyes.
So I went into this and I saidand this was, this was my list
and Eric could double check thatwhen he comes on later here,
but this was my list from lastweek.
I didn't get to it, but it waswhere does this Wisconsin team
need to look in the transferportal?
That's what I labeled it.
I said a true point guard.
I said a true point guard.
(21:44):
I said this Badger team needs atrue point guard.
What do they do for me?
They go out and they grab atrue point guard out of the
transferportal.
There, boyd coming in for thisBadger team.
He's from San Diego State.
He's fantastic.
He is fantastic and it's a movethat we all were kind of
(22:06):
waiting for, because we heardabout it and it was, you know,
just a matter of when's it goingto happen, right, nick Boyd was
, he's been in the portal andthe Badgers were rumored and
they got the crystal ballprediction and they were all
over it and they're like, oh,he's going to come, he's going
to be there, and it's like, okay, well, when, when is he gonna
sign?
Because I keep hearing this andthere's other teams that are
(22:29):
still in the mix, right, sothey're still talking to him.
They're still talking to himand I was like just get, get it
done, get it done, get it doneright.
I just want to see him inmadison.
I want to get this guy inhere.
Nick boyd's an experienced guy.
He was with florida atlanticwhen they went to the uh final
four there.
He was with them there forthree years underneath the dusty
may.
So he's experienced with dustymay too.
(22:49):
But I mean he's an experiencedguy, been around the block with
florida atlantic.
There was a big contributor forflorida atlantic in those
couple good seasons.
In that season they went to thefinal four.
He had he's averaging about 10points a game.
I mean he's close up to 10points a game, about 9.
And then the season after thathe was averaging about 10 points
a game.
And then this last season forSan Diego State there he was
(23:11):
averaging 13.4 points per game,3.9 rebounds.
You're talking about a guy withfour assists per
game.
He's an experienced true pointguard and that's what I wanted.
That was my number one dad.
I was like go get me a truepoint guard, bam.
There he is Now assuming.
This is what we're assuming,right?
John Blackwell's comingback.
There's your backcourt.
(23:31):
That's a pretty darn goodbackcourt.
That is a pretty darn goodbackcourt, if you ask me,
because you also, along withNick Boyd, you want to talk
about adding some depth there inthat backcourt.
You added some guys.
You added Andrew Rode there, the Wisconsin native.
That was exciting.
That wasexciting.
I was glad to see him fromMilwaukee there be able to come
(23:55):
back and play for the Badgersthere in his last season.
I believe it's his last seasonhere, after spending a couple
years.
He was with St Thomas and thenhe ended up with Virginia for a
couple and now he's going to goto Madison.
I don't know if he's got aCOVID year, I don't know how
COVID years work or any of thatkind of crap, but another guy to
add into that backcourtexperience wing a guard put
there, but a 6'6 guard, he's abig guard.
(24:17):
Right, he's a big guard.
He can get after you.
I love what this guy brings tothe
table.
I was watching a little bit ofhis highlight tapes there.
You know, last season forVirginia, about 10 points a game
, about three rebounds, fourassists and he shot about 43%
from the field.
That's pretty darn good numbers, pretty darn good numbers there
(24:37):
from Andrew Rode.
He actually from two seasonsago to this last season,
progressed well.
Two seasons ago was averagingfour a game there with Virginia
this last season, averaging 10.
He was also he got thoseminutes up about six minutes
more per gamethere.
But I love the shooting too.
41% from three there on theseason and then that nice 43%
from the field on the season.
(24:58):
All those numbers that I'mreading off.
It's like love it, love to seeit, love to see it from a guy
like this.
I'm reading off is like love it, love to see it.
Love to see it from a guy likethis.
I mean Wisconsin guy, come backhome defensing and shooting.
The defense and the shootingability are what stick out to me
.
He's got some range.
He has got some range.
I think he had, if I'm notmistaken, he had a couple of
(25:19):
deep ones when I was watchingthat highlight tape there.
But he is an impressive shooterand he's an impressive shooter
and he's an impressive passer.
He's an impressive passer too, which I think is going to play
very well because of a couple ofthe other guys that the badge
got right.
You already got I mean, thinkabout it, you got nolan winter
in the room already.
You have john blackwell.
You're gonna have jinnicky backright.
We're gonna talk about xavieramos.
He doesn't.
He's not coming back at thevery moment.
(25:39):
I maybe, just maybe, they talkhim back into coming back, but I
don't know what's going tohappen
there.
Xavier Amos is in the transferportal, but I look at this guy
great playmaking ability, greatat passing the basketball, very
good finisher.
He's great at getting downhilland getting to the rim, which is
huge.
Right, you got to have guys whocan get to the rim and
especially, score at the rim.
He's a 59% shooter from theleft elbow.
(26:01):
I found that impressive Like59% shooter from the left elbow.
I found that impressive Like59% shooter from the left elbow.
Somebody went through.
They did all the stats on thatand I saw that somebody did it
and they're like he's a 59%shooter from the left elbow.
I was like, yeah, yeah, getthis guy to left elbow, he's
going to knock her down.
Right, he's going to knock herdown.
So I found that impressive whenI was reading that
there.
But the big thing that Iwatched over and over and over
(26:23):
again was his finishing abilityand not just his ability to
avoid contact but to drawcontact and score through
contact.
That is an underlying somethingthat guys kind of they don't
look at anymore because it's nota huge art in the game of
basketball.
Dunking is huge, but the gameis transpiring.
(26:44):
I mean, how many guys actuallyshoot a mid-range anymore?
But Andrew Rode's pretty goodfor the mid-range, so that's
something that I hope theBadgers can harp and they can
stick with and I really do seehim benefiting from in this
offense there.
So Andrew Rode coming in Lovewhat I'm seeing out of him and
then you bring in a guy by thename of Austin Rapp.
Austin Rapp they're coming overfrom
(27:05):
Portland.
I think this is a fantastic ad.
I think he's a fantastic ad.
The thing that he does notanswer.
And this is where as I was justmentioning before my list of
things that I needed there aphysical big, a physical big.
I don't think he's a physicalbig.
From what I've seen, from whatI've watched with Austin Rapp
(27:25):
here, he's a perimeter guy.
I don't want to say he's like aDanny Wolf kind of guy, but he
almost plays like it.
He is very good, actually he'svery good.
He's 6'10", 230 pounds.
He's very good at playing offthe bounce, like driving,
getting downhill, getting ascreen, being the guy who's not
(27:53):
the screener, but gettingscreened right.
He's pretty goodthere.
So when I look at a guy likeAustin Raptor, it's like, okay,
you answered my question of Ineed shooters, I need scores,
but he didn't answer my questionof I need a physical big, I
need a guy who I can put intothat post area and he can play
body.
You didn't answer that question.
I don't know.
(28:14):
I I'm hoping that nolan winter, can you know, beef up and he
can be that guy.
I'm hoping this, you know, austin rap here can be that guy.
But what, from what I've seenout of both those guys, they
aren't rim protectors, theyaren't dominant defensive
presence.
Right, I watch some of theseteams like a team like Florida
(28:36):
or Houston Duke.
Right, they all have rimprotectors.
Big fellas dominate the postarea, can get after it down in
the post area, but defensivelythey can get after you.
That's something the Badgersneed to answer, if you ask me.
So we got a little bit moreBadger talk on the backside of
the break here.
We got Badger talk and then wegot a whole slew of things to
(28:59):
get to.
So we'll be right back here onthe backside of this
break.
Welcome back in to WisconsinSports.
On the go with trage.
I'm your host trades.
We're coming back april 9th.
What an ape, what, what, whatan april it's been to start here
.
We had, I mean, a good ishfinish to college basketball,
right for the year.
(29:20):
I mean now we got transferportals taken off and we got
news galore out of there.
The draft is coming up soon.
It is going to be a hecticapril, but it is going to be a
fun april, right, it's going tobe a fun april all the way
around there.
So hey, before we move on here, this next, this next segment of
the show is brought to you bysport and spine clinic of
(29:42):
greenwood, wisconsin.
Their expert traditionalphysical therapy and
instructional integrationprogramming call for flexible
scheduling and evaluations.
You can call them at715-267-4583.
That is 715-267-4583 for allyour physical therapy needs.
Trust, chad down there at sportand spine clinic in greenwood,
(30:05):
wisconsin,there.
So I went to the break and wewere talking about the badgers.
They got, I mean, the transferportal has been kind I I have
loved the ads for the badgers.
So don't get me wrong when I'msaying you know when I, when I'm
not talking down about it oranything like that, I'm just
saying what I think the badgersneed, right, what they need.
One need, one of my biggestthings and, like I said, going
(30:28):
to the break was a big, physicalbig.
Because what I think theBadgers lack and I think they
lacked in the BYU game was atough presence on the inside.
First half shots weren'tfalling.
There was games this year wherethe Badgers' shots weren't
falling from the perimeter andwhen their shots aren't falling
(30:51):
they don't really have an answer.
There was no answer and I thinkthat got them into trouble
Because they couldn't say, hey, steve, and I love Steven Crowell
, but they couldn't say, hey, steve, go get me one.
He just wasn't thatguy.
I mean you look at over theyears there, um of dominant bigs
(31:13):
, right, zach Eadies, the mostrecent one, right and the big 10
there.
But Kofi Colbert right FromIllinois there.
Uh, just thinking back, I meanI don't want to.
I really didn't like this guyat all.
But Hunter Dickinson had somegood years there with Michigan.
There were some goodbigs.
Across from Frank Kaminsky withthe Badgers, there were some
good bigs.
Steven Crowell was a decent big.
(31:36):
He never took that next step.
He was always a goodthree-point shooter.
He was always on the inside.
But he always went throughmoments where it was well,
there's a double team there.
Okay, he passes out, that'sgood and all fine and dandy.
But the next time down theywouldn't send a double.
And he's getting man-to-man andfor some reason he kicks it out
(31:57):
and you're sitting there likewhat are you doing?
You're not even looking toscore.
Too many times I watched that,we watched that.
It's like okay, well, if you'renot going to try and score on
the inside, we're not going tohave a post presence.
And if we don't have a postpresence, it takes away anything
we want to do because we got tohave something on the inside.
(32:18):
If all they see you as a passeron the inside, you're not a
threat.
You're not a threat toscore.
I I want the.
I don't think you're not goingto go.
I don't think you need to goout and get a big that's going
to be your leading scorer nightin and night out.
I don't think you need that.
I want a Chris Voigt.
Remember a couple years agothat Chris Voigt, good defender,
(32:39):
could score it?
But a good defender, that's aguy I want.
I want a Chris Boyd, a physicalbig who can get after it.
Get after guys defensively, because this last season Stephen
Crowell half the games wasn'teven needed offensively.
You just needed himdefensively.
If you have guys like Nick Boyd, like an Austin Rapp, a Nolan
(33:01):
Winter at times, whatever it is,whatever the rotation looks
like, right, you bring back yourBlackwell, you know, whatever
the rotation is going to looklike, whoever's in there, you're
going to have scores Like thereare a lot of good scores on
this team From what I'm seeingwhat they're building right now
even like young guys like Kingsare coming in there from the
pier You're going to have goodscores.
You need a guy on the insidewho's just going to be a
(33:26):
presence.
Maybe you can score it a littlebit right.
Maybe give you, you know, sixto ten points a game Nothing
crazy.
But when I need a rebound, he'sgetting me that point.
When I need a guy to get me astop a shot, I need a shot
blocker.
When I need a this guy, youknow his team keeps driving
(33:46):
downhill and they keep gettingto the rim and I could put this
guy in here and he's going todefend the hoop.
That's a guy I need.
That's the guy I want.
I want shotblockers.
And I look at austin rap and Ithink you know he averaged one
and a half blocks game atportland.
I don't know.
You know he's a's a decentenough defender, but he's not.
It's not his forte.
He loves playing the outsideright, loves playing the outside
(34:08):
.
He's a, he's an athletic guybut he loves playing the outside
.
I want a guy who's going to getdown and dirty for me on the
inside.
So that's kind of where I'mlooking right
now.
That's where I'm looking andI'm like, if the Badgers are
going to make one more move, Ithink you can make a couple more
.
I'm not saying they have tostop with that.
There's a couple other guys.
I've seen a couple other guysin the transfer portal there.
(34:32):
I wish they would have gottenBuchanan from Virginia there.
He was also in the transferportal.
He went in the same time asRoad did there and he's a big
guy.
Big guy there.
I think he went to iowa state,if I'm not mistaken, could have.
I don't remember.
Iowa state doesn't reallyconcern me and he's already
picked up on the transit portal.
But there are different guysthat are still
(34:55):
available.
I don't know if you need to goout and, just like you don't
need to go out and look for thehottest commodity, find a good
guy.
You're looking for bench guys, you're looking for role players.
I think you can find roleplayers here.
I like the look.
Actually, I shouldn't say Ilike it.
I love the look of this Badgersteam.
(35:15):
The surprising one was XavierAmos, because I stinking wrote
it down in my notes.
I told you, I'm going throughmy notes here and I put it down.
If Amos can take a step forward, that would be a huge addition
Because I'm looking at what theBadgers need to add.
If Xavier Amos took a stepforward, like I thought he was
(35:36):
doing in the Big Ten tournamentbecause, honestly, watching him
in that Big Ten tourney, Ithought Xavier Amos was
definitely taking a step forward, playing a lot better
basketball, smarter basketball,on both ends of the floor.
I thought there was times whereXavier Amos he would play well
(35:58):
offensively but his defense waslike it was like he was lost.
I don't know what happened Likeit was like he was lost.
I don't know what happened.
And then, when it came to theBig Ten tournament and a little
bit into that tournament, thereI thought he kind of turned it
on forthis.
Wisconsin team Played wellagainst UCLA, played well
against Michigan State.
Michigan did not score, onlyplayed in eight minutes that
game.
So it's not like he had a lotof minutes there for this Badger
(36:20):
team, but I mean he producedwell down the stretcher and
started to kind of put ittogether and I was like, yes,
finally, finally, xavier amos isputting it together.
We're going to see him takethat next step next season in a
bigger role.
Right, because when I look athim, or what we saw from him, I
(36:46):
thought he was going to get.
He's probably averaging about.
I don't know what his minutesaverage was last season there,
but probably, I would say wasaround eight, nine, yep, nine,
nine is where he was at.
I mean, he wasn't averaging alot of minutes, but I think he
was going toincrease.
Carter Gilmore's gone.
(37:06):
That was a big thing was?
You had Gilmore and Gilmoretook a lot of the minutes from
Xavier Amos because Gilmore'splaying so well.
Gilmore turned it onoffensively so you didn't really
need Xavier Amos offensivelybecause Gilmore was doing
everything that Amos was doing.
So it's like you didn't need it.
So his services were kind oflimited.
But now that Gilmore's gone, Ithought Xavier Amos was going to
(37:27):
step into a bigger role.
This move doesn't.
It's weird Because I don't knowwhere he's going to go.
I don't know if he's going toget somewhere better than
Wisconsin, maybe, just maybe.
But I honestly I thoughtWisconsin was a pretty good fit
for him and I honestly thoughtnext season we could see Xavier
(37:49):
almost fit into a larger role inMadison.
It's not like Greg guard waslimiting what he was able to do
or besides.
I mean a minute restriction, right, not letting him play a
lot of minutes, but outside ofthat I mean I look at everything
else underneath the blue moonshooting, everything like that.
It's not so.
(38:10):
It's kind of just wonderingwhere, where he's at, what's
going on, right, so we'll waitand see.
We'll wait andsee.
On the Xavier Amos front, maybehe comes back, maybe he doesn't
, I don't know, I don't know.
I I would be interested in himback, I would like.
I said I I'm really I wasexcited to see him year two in
(38:31):
Madison.
Now for his senior season.
It's more of a wait and seewhere he's going to end up at
this point here.
I can't imagine anywherefantastic, I really can't.
I hope so.
I would love to see that forhim, but I just don't know, I
(38:51):
don't know.
We'll wait and see, kind of, onwhat's going to happen there.
So if Xavier Ramos is out inMadison.
Hopefully that's the lastoutgoing transfer we got to talk
about and we can talk aboutmore incoming
transfers.
Right, I saw somebody talkingabout AJ store because he
entered the transfer portalagain.
I got to be honest with youLike.
I saw that and I thought tomyself I wouldn't, I wouldn't
(39:17):
hate him to come play on thebench.
What could he possibly ask for,nil-wise at this point?
Honestly, what could hepossibly ask for?
He just stunk at Kansas.
He can't ask for a lot and Ithink it would be an awesome
finesse story.
Greggard brings him in, heplays well, he's going well, he
(39:41):
leaves, gets big money, comesback after he starts to think
and then it'd be even funnier ifGreggard fixes him again.
That'd be awesome, that'd beabsolutely awesome.
I saw people talking about itand they're like absolutely not,
absolutelynot.
I'm like, if he wants to comeback and sit on the bench, play
(40:01):
off the bench for the wisconsinbadge, aj store off the bench in
wisconsin I.
I don't understand why peoplewould hate that.
I don't like I would, I'd takeit, why not?
What's it gonna hurt?
Actually, I think it'd bepretty cool.
Aj store is an athletic guy.
If he gives me solid defensegives me something scoring,
whatever I.
(40:23):
I can live with it.
Something in wisconsin workedfor aj store.
Maybe it doesn't work secondtime around, right, I don't know
if it's a jeremy jeffress withthe brewers.
He'd leave sock, come back, dowell.
Leave sock, come back, do well.
It's a weird like love, haterelationship between the two.
I don't know what the casewould be with aj store, but when
(40:43):
I saw it I was like I don'tknow why people hate this move
so much.
I think it'd work.
I'd be, I'd be, I I'd be, I'dlaugh.
I would seriously.
If they got him back, I wouldseriously
laugh.
So wait and see what theBadgers do next.
In the transfer portal I sawthey were targeting a different
guy.
He's from Wright State.
From Wright State, they're aguard.
(41:06):
So from what I've seen, itlooks like the Badgers are
targeting a lot of guards.
So we'll wait and see.
We'll wait and see what theBadgers want to do next year.
I'm excited.
I'm excited to see what they'regoing to do.
(41:28):
Maybe it was AJ Braun, was theguy's name.
Aj Braun was the guy's name onthe way out.
Maybe.
I don't remember now.
I don't remember off the top ofmy head.
Maybe it was AJ Braun or it wasAlex Hwabregski Right state,
right state.
At the end of the day, all Iknow is that the Badgers are
(41:49):
targeting a guard.
They've been talking withanother guard, so we'll wait and
see.
We'll the badges for targetinga guard.
They've been talking withanother guard, so we'll wait and
see.
We'll wait and see what greg, guard of the badges do here.
Uh, movingforward.
So hey, on the back side ofthis break, I, aaron, should be
back on the back side of thebreak here, so we're going to
talk a little bit badgerfootball.

So we went into the break.
We were talking Badgerbasketball.
(43:59):
Before the break here Comingback, I want to talk a little
Badger football, because I saw atweet just the other day and it
was from Vince Beagle and hesaid going into the season with
the Wisconsin Badgers over underis five and a half wins, with
the under being the heavyfavorite.
How is this, uh, how is the newstandard and expectation become
a five win season?
(44:19):
These are dark times.
Badger fans, no words.
Dot, dot, dot.
The wisconsin badgers seasonwins for 2025 the over five and
a half is plus 118.
The under at five and a half is144 negative 144 there.
So that's so.
That's yeah, that's kind ofwhere Vince is at right now.
It's where a lot of Badger fansare
right.
A lot of Badger fans aresitting there and they're saying
(44:40):
to themselves I mean and thisis where I was, because we're at
this point with Luke Ficklewhere love him, hate him,
whatever you want with LukeFickle I got to be honest with
you guys.
In my opinion and maybe it'sjust my opinion, but it seems
like a general consensus If LukeFickle doesn't get the job done
(45:01):
here, pretty darn soon they'regoing to start selling
pitchforks and start knocking ondoors down there in Madison and
where I'm sitting right now.
I got to be honest if LukeFickle doesn't find a way to
take this Badger team to acollege football playoff maybe
(45:21):
not this year, but next whatbetter has he done than Paul
Chris?
That's what I got.
I keep asking myself thathonest question all the time,
right, because I know that therecruiting wasn't the greatest
under Paul Chris.
Yeah, I agree that last paulchris was not great, but what
(45:44):
has luke fickle done?
He has, hedoesn't.
The thing that I look back onconsistently, year for the years
.
Now a couple years, whateverhas been with luke fickle, it
seems like, oh my gosh, it justseems like forever.
And since the badgers have, since I've been excited right to
watch Badger football, um, butI, I look at what Luke Fickle
has done and I always come backto one thing the signature win.
He doesn't have a signature win, he, he can't beat Iowa.
(46:09):
I mean, I look at the schedulefor next season five and a half
wins,okay.
So let's go through theschedule right.
Miami of Ohio, you should winthat one.
Mtsu, so that Middle TennesseeState should win that one.
Then you have at Alabama, I'mgonna, we're gonna put it in the
loss column, okay.
Maryland at Maryland, no, no,that's home.
(46:32):
Home against Maryland Should bea win.
I'll give you three At Michigan.
Don't like it?
Loss Three and two.
Iowa at home, that should be awin.
There's four.
Ohio State at home Going totake a loss At Oregon Loss.
Washington at home at home.
(46:55):
Illinois at home.
Indiana on the road.
Minnesota on the road.
Five and ahalf.
I'm looking at the schedule.
It's like this is a dauntingschedule.
Don't get me wrong, I keeplooking at it.
I'm like this is a dauntingschedule for the Wisconsin
Badgers.
I don't know who makesschedules up for teams, but
(47:16):
whoever made the Badgers hatesWisconsin.
They have the toughest schedulein the Big Ten.
Strength of schedule has themnumber one in the Big Ten.
It really doesn't get tougherthan what they got.
When you play Ohio State andOregon back-to-back you know
that's as tough as it gets right.
Maybe they should have put PennState in there too.
Just because, just becauselet's throw Penn State in there
(47:37):
instead of Washington, let'splay Ohio State, oregon, penn
State, then Indiana.
That'd be fun.
That'd be fun.
Little gone like.
I don't know who threw thisschedule together, but it's like
holy cats, you don't.
You do not like the WisconsinBadgers.
But I mean, I'm looking at itand I'm like five and a half,
that's standard.
But this is a year that I'mgoing to be honest with you.
(48:00):
If you don't beat Iowa orMinnesota or a team like
Illinois, you can'tbeat.
There's tears to the Big Ten.
Now there's tears.
There always has been.
But now there's tears becauseit's one massive conference.
Right, it used to be east andwest, so badgers didn't have to
really worry about ohio state, penn state, michigan, all them
teams.
They had to play them like oncein a blue moon.
Outside of that, they didn'treally worry about them.
(48:22):
They were worried about beatingthe teams in the west getting
to the big 10 championship.
But now it's a massive just iscrap.
I don't even I.
I don't like the conferenceexpansion, so I just it's one
craptastic league.
Now, right, big big old league,18 teams.
We're still called the Big Ten,but we have 18 teams in it.
But now it's your Big Ten istears.
(48:44):
Ohio State maybe.
I don't know if you includeMichigan up there.
You have to, because they beatOhio State.
Right, knock on Ohio State fansthere.
Penn State, you're going tothrow them up there.
Oregon's up at thetop.
You have that tier, the tierwith Wisconsin, and I don't know
if you'd call it B tier or ifyou're going to work all the way
down to C tier with it there.
But you have Minnesota, Iowa, illinois, indiana Maybe, I don't
(49:14):
know.
Indiana's kind of like a flyer.
They're in between right now,but I think they're going to
come back down to earth Eitherway.
You have that tier withWisconsin.
If you can't beat the teams onyour tier, which I?
What tier are you on then?
Right, because last season youlost to those teams.
You lost those teams handily.
You got like swatted around.
So now, what tier does thateven put you on?
Because if you're not on thattier, where are you?
(49:36):
The ruckers are you withruckers northwestern?
Is that yourtier?
Last season you beat the teamsthat you're supposed to beat,
but you couldn't even get yoursignature win.
You have struggled to getsignature wins and that's where
I'm looking at with theswisconsin team going into this
season.
This season I don't think I'mas with this Wisconsin team
going into this season.
(49:57):
I don't think I'm as worried.
I'm not going into this likeVince Beagle saying like, hey, I
never thought that Badgersover-under for a win total for a
season was going to be five anda half, like that's where they
had them pegged and it wasactually better odds to pick the
under.
That's even worse.
I didn't think you'd get thatpoint.
But where I'm at with wisconsinright now is that if you can't
even get signature wins and byanybody, I don't care look at
(50:20):
the schedule here if you cancome out with a win against
here's your list of teams youhave to at least maybe pick up a
win alabama, michigan, ohiostate, oregon right, one of
those teams.
You've got to come away with awin, a signature win, a win that
says, hey, we're good, we'refine.
(50:41):
Are you on a tier with Iowa?
Are you there with Minnesota?
That's what we need to find out.
Are those programs above younow?
We know that Ohio State's aboveyou, they've been.
We know that Oregon's above youThey've been.
Where are you at in comparisonto Iowa?
Where are you at in comparisonto Illinois, minnesota and those
(51:02):
teams?
That's what I want to find out.
Because if you can't beat thelikes of those teams, if Luke
Fickle gets outcoached andoutdone by those teams once
again and it looks like theyjust get outplayed and they get
just trucked like they did whenthey went to Kinnick Stadium and
played Iowa or when they playedMinnesota, or I mean any of
those matchups where they justlook like hot garbage, if it
(51:25):
looks like that again, I don'tknow what keeps him around,
except for the fact of ChrisMcIntosh is at risk of losing
hisjob.
If Luke Fickle loses his job, Iwant to disagree with Vince
Beagle and say, like it's notdark times right and it takes.
(51:45):
I don't want to go into anotheryear.
How long does it take torebuild the program.
That's what I want to know tothese people, to all the fans
out there who, if I were to postthis right now and say luke
fickle should get fired, and youwere to tell me oh well, you
got to give him time to rebuildthis team.
He took over a crappy rosterfrom paul christ.
He's still trying to get hisguys.
(52:06):
How long does it take?
There's nobody left from paulchrist.
Nobody, nobody, not.
The coaching staff is barelythere like, and there's no hope
that he really left.
Who are you gonna blame right?
At some point you gotta blamethe guy on top.
These I I get so sick and tiredof.
(52:27):
There's this multiplenarratives like so this there's
a crowd over here that hatesluke fickle.
There's a crowd over here thathates Luke Fickle.
There's a crowd over here thathe can't do any wrong.
And there's a crowd in themiddle who's like okay, where do
we want to sit?
Right, and that's where I'm at.
I'm in the middle, but I'mlooking at it.
I'm like, eh, uh, he's got toprove something to, and he
(52:49):
hasn't, and that's where I'm atright now.
So that's kind of what I wantto talk about there with Badger,
football was just kind of lookat what Vince Beagle had to say
that over-under madness thereand see what was going on in
everybody else's opinions there.
I'd love to hear your opinions, though, so make sure you text
them to me 715-990-4914.
That is 715-990-4914.
Speaker 2 (53:11):
give me your opinion,
right there.
Speaker 1 (53:12):
So I want to get over
to the mellow yellow minute.
No, aaron, no aaron, right nowI don't think he's probably
gonna make it here to the show.
We're hoping, but I don't thinkhe's gonna make it on tonight
here.
Uh, work has got him caught up.
But I want to get over to themellow yellow minute real quick.
Here we have.
It's gonna be a littledifferent because aaron is not
here, so I gotta figure out howI'm gonna do it myself, right?
So, if you are able, if you'resitting in your car, maybe
(53:34):
you're at home, you're next tothe fridge.
Hopefully you're next to thefridge, right?
You guys know the drill getyour favorite beverage, crack
that thing.
I always got my mellow yellowhere to crack here for the
mellow yellow minutes and I wantto get over.
We're gonna do a little brewers, wisconsin sports jeopardy.
There you go, wisconsin sportsjeopardy.
So I don't see the answersuntil you guys see the answers.
Fair enough, right, fair enough.
(53:55):
So I'm going to give everybodylike five seconds after I give
the answer.
The Brewers, all-time leader inhits.
Brewers, all-time leader inhits.
Who is it Ready?
One, two, three, four, five, robin Yao.
That's our answer, robin Yao.
There we go, there we go.
We got Packers for 100 here.
Who did Brett Favre complete hisfirst pass to?
(54:16):
We all know that answer.
That's to himself.
Come on, come on.
What is Brett Favre?
That's right.
What is Brett Favre?
The Bucs' year of their onlychampionship.
See, this is an old Jeopardytemplate.
Here we Ryan Braun.
(54:41):
Ryan Braun is the answer there.
So there we go, there we go.
There's our Melly L Minute.
A little bit of a shortenedversion of it tonight there, but
that's because I didn't reallyhave anybody to guess with me
when I'm reading off thequestions, so it's a little bit
harder there.
So, hey, we got more on thebackside of this.
We got a couple of specialguests.
Kyle's going to be here forBucks Talk.
We bucks talk.
We have ummer coming on fromcoast to coast packers.
(55:02):
He's gonna be talking packerswith us here after the break.
So can't wait to come back andtalk with those guys.
So we'll be back here in just aminute.
Welcome back into wisconsin.
Sports.
Time to go with trades.
I'm your host, trades, we'recoming back.
It's the second hour of theshow tonight here.
Aaron, he's gonna step out fora second.
He's been out for a second here.
(55:23):
He at work, then he comes back, then he's out for a second but
he's back here.
Um, so tonight I got a specialguest with me.
I got kyle.
We're gonna talk bucks tonighthere he's my guy.
When we gotta talk bucks, Ibring kyle along here.
Good friend of the show herefrom chopping at the bit podcast
there, aaron kyle, how we doingtonight I'm good, I can't
complain.
Speaker 2 (55:41):
know it's been a
little while, but yeah, you know
, coming out to the end of theseason, so glad to talk
basketball with you.
Speaker 1 (55:46):
Right, oh goodness,
gracious, Right it is.
We've taken a little bit of abackseat watching this Bucs team
, but hey, we're getting closeto the playoffs and the Bucs are
getting some good news, I guess.
So we's going to be Foreman'sHardware.
They offer everything from homeessentials to farm supplies,
(56:08):
house to farm, grills to drills.
Foreman's Hardware has got youcovered.
Visit today in Loyal Colby orMedford, Wisconsin.
There.
Tell them Trade sent you, get5% off.
That's all you need 5% off onany one of your purchases if you
tell them trade sent you there,to Loyal Colby or Medford.
So, Kyle, I mean let's just diveright into it.
Let's dive right into it hereat this Bucs talk.
I mean, right now, the Bucsthey've been playing well, I
(56:32):
mean, who they've been playinghasn't been.
I guess you could sayno-transcript thoughts on this
bucks team as of late here.
(56:53):
Is there anything that'sstanding out to you with this
team at this very moment, youknow where, as we kind of get
close to the end here, wrappingup and hoping to stay healthy,
right, because this team hasbeen banged up hoping?
to stay healthy.
Is there anything that stoodout to you with this team?
Speaker 2 (57:07):
I mean, they've kind
of been what I've have seen them
be all season.
They are relying on yannis to,you know, physically dominate
and kind of carry the load forthem, especially with dame being
out.
You know, if they can get himback, that'd be a the load for
them, especially with Dame beingout.
You know, if they can get himback, that'd be a big help for
them.
I feel like they are kind ofcaught in a weird spot when you
(57:31):
look at the East where you knowcertain teams ahead of them.
I don't necessarily likematchups for the Bucs but look,
you got to make the playoffs tohave a shot at it.
And you know Giannis isbattle-tested.
Dame has his playoff momentsOnce again if he can come back.
(57:53):
It's a veteran group and whatthat could do for the Bucs, it
might give them an advantageover some of these teams that
are kind of young andinexperienced.
But I don't know.
It's really weird where thebucks are.
Like I said, I mean, look, it'sgood that they're winning games
(58:13):
now because you want to go intothe playoffs with some momentum
on your side.
It's just going to be toughonce they get in the playoffs to
to really get to a conferencefinal, much less the NBA finals.
So I will give them a shot.
Because of their experience, Ijust don't know how much I like
(58:37):
this team, the way that it'sconstructed.
Speaker 1 (58:40):
Yeah, no, I would
agree.
And you know what I said thebiggest thing was was missing
that play in tournament.
Not, you want to avoid thatplay in tournament.
If you're the bucks, give dametime, give yannis time, give
those guys time to rest, getready to go.
Hopefully, get a guy like dameback.
I mean, we look at it accordingto shams.
What he had to say about itsounds like dame could be back
for the playoffs.
According to a lot of bucksinsiders, from what I've heard,
(59:02):
that's like maybe right, that'svery optimistic.
We're on a very optimisticstage there when Shams is
talking, because, according to alot of guys, we might not see
Dame again this season for theBucs.
Now Bobby, though Bobby Portiscoming back for this Bucs team.
I mean, talk about that.
What does a guy like Bobby dofor this Bucs team coming back
there?
We know about his impact andeverything.
(59:23):
Talk about that a little bitthere.
And if Dame is not able to comeback, is that it?
I mean basically, is it Dame orBucs for this Bucs team?
Speaker 2 (59:33):
Yeah, look when you
look at how poor it is.
He's a guy who gives you 14 and8, about 25 minutes a game.
He shoots like 46 from thefield field.
I think his field goal andthree-point percentage are
slightly down from his careeraverage, but they're still
decent enough.
I think he's like a career 38from three.
He's shooting 36.
(59:53):
You can still work with that, Ithink.
Field goals like 48, careerdown to 46 this season.
Free throw percentage is upthough, and that's that's a big
deal.
A lot.
Some of these playoff gamescome down to guys who can step
to the line, make a free throwlate, and he's shooting, I think
, about 82 from the line thisseason.
(01:00:14):
He's normally a 76 free throwshooter and his points have gone
up as well this year from 12 to14 a game.
That kind of production you need.
You know the east is seen asnot as not as deep as the west
or whatever, but there's stillsome good teams in the east and
you need as many guys as you canget on the floor that you kind
(01:00:36):
of know what you're going to getfrom them.
I think bobby's one of thoseguys.
Yeah, he'll have his momentswhere he'll have a game where he
gets into early foul trouble.
He can kind of get emotionaland play undisciplined, but some
instances you're willing totake that.
You know he's a guy who canoperate in the mid-range, he can
hit the corner three and Ithink offensively especially if
(01:01:01):
Dame isn't able to come back, hecan play off of Giannis well
Because we know Giannis will doa.
I think offensively, especiallyif Dame isn't able to come back
, he can play off of Gianniswell because we know Giannis
will do a lot of the ballhandling and try to playmake as
much as he can.
And Portis is a guy that youdon't need to call plays for
necessarily, but he can produce.
So that's going to be a plus.
(01:01:21):
In terms of Dame, look, it'sblood clots.
You can't force him back toosoon dealing with that.
We've seen what it's done withWemby.
It ended his season.
I mean, the Spurs weren't goingto be in the playoffs anyway,
but it ended his season.
Bosh, it ended his career.
So it's a wide range with it.
(01:01:42):
You can't play with that.
But if he can't come back, thenyeah, whatever chance you might
have given him would go out thewindow, because Dane gives you
a ball handler which without him, giannis is going to have to
take up a lot of that role andshot creation.
One thing I don't necessarilylike about the Bucs team they
(01:02:07):
don't have a lot of guys who, ifyou gave them the ball, could
create for themselves, andespecially in today's NBA, that
is something that you need, where you've got to isolate guys
on defense and take advantageof mismatches.
If you don't have guys who cando that, it makes it that much
harder for you and that's whereDame would come in.
So if he can't come back, thenyeah, I don't like the Bucs'
(01:02:27):
chances at all.
Speaker 1 (01:02:30):
No, I mean they have
two good young guards, right.
I love what's his name there.
Kevin Porter Jr has done withthe Bucs since they got him,
same with Ryan Rollins sincehe's been given a larger role
there.
But, like you said, I meanthey're not, they're not Dame,
they're not that guy that can bethat guy.
They I mean, like you weresaying, shot creation they have
guys on this team that's like oncertain nights they could find
(01:02:52):
a shot, they can get hot right.
We've seen Kuzma have hisnights, we've seen Porter go off
a little bit there.
We've seen these guys go off,but it's is it at a consistent
basis.
And that's where this bucksteam lacks is that consistency
that we see night in, night out.
We talk about defense with thisteam.
One night they're greatdefensively.
The next night it's like whatis this?
What are we watching right now?
And then the next night, samewith the offense.
(01:03:13):
One night they can put up 130.
The next night there it's like, well, they can barely muster
out 100.
Where are we at right now?
So it's a wide spectrum withthis team and I agree with you,
it's going to be tough withoutdame to kind of settle that down
and find that consistency heremoving forward, especially when
you have such a wide disparitybetween the leading scorer and
yannis and 30, and then rightnow your third best is kyle
kuzma with 14.
(01:03:33):
So that's a wide disparitythere up top to middle there,
but you have a lot of guys inthe 10 range.
So we'll see how this bucksteam does.
Uh, moving forward there.
I had a question for you, andthis is more wide spectrum of
the nba.
Right now it looks like sgayokich.
Some people might have problemswith that.
Those two are the nvpcandidates.
Those two are up on the top ofit right now.
(01:03:54):
Where do you have yannis rankedin with those guys like, if
you're talking best players, where does yannis sit with them?
Because to me I think yannis,he's almost like in his own
category because what he does ina game now is what they did 50
years ago in the game ofbasketball.
It was bully ball, it was.
You know I'm going to dominatethe paint area.
I'm not really.
He does all this.
(01:04:15):
He averages 30 points a gameand he doesn't really shoot it
well from the outside.
I mean, there's not many guyswho do that anymore, who can
score it consistently on theinside and get you 30 points a
game.
That's wild to me.
So where does Giannis stand toyou in that ranking of best
players in the world?
Where is he on that spectrumright now?
Speaker 2 (01:04:34):
I think in terms of
best players in the world, he's
obviously going to be up thereIn terms of MVP this season.
I think this might be a toughyear for him because Jokic and
SGA have distanced themselves.
Whoever you have first is up toyou.
I think the narrative is thatSGA is going to win it, but it's
(01:04:57):
kind of hard to ignore whatJokic has been doing.
The man had a 60-somethingpoint triple-double Like that's
crazy, and I kind of think he'sgoing to make it hard for voters
not to pick him.
But once you get past those two, you're looking at a race where
Tatum is going to be up thereas the best player on a really
(01:05:20):
good defending champion Celticsteam.
Steph is going to be out therebecause what works for Steph?
The numbers may not blow youout of the water, but since it's
V for valuable when Steph isn'ton the court, the Warriors just
look so different and they arebeating expectations this season
(01:05:41):
that's going to work in Steph'sfavor.
So I think Steph's going to beup there.
I'm going to show some love toCade Cunningham, because what
the Pistons have done this yearyou have to give him a lot of
credit for that.
Like he's coming to his own.
He's matured as a player.
He looks like a polished playerthis season.
So I would put him up there.
That would kind of be my topfive player this season.
(01:06:04):
So I would put him up there.
That would kind of be my topfive.
And then after that you'relooking at guys like Giannis,
who I think would probably leadthat second group.
You know LeBron will get someconsideration obviously with you
know the age.
They are in the standings likehe's going to get some love.
Luka will be interesting.
Well, no, actually Luka doesn'tqualify't qualify.
So you know, take him out ofthe equation.
(01:06:25):
You know Cleveland willprobably get somebody up there,
but I wouldn't take anybody fromCleveland over Giannis.
So I think Giannis is a fringetop five MVP vote getter and if
he's not top five, I think he'dprobably be sixth in the race
right now.
Speaker 1 (01:06:46):
okay, it's just it's
just.
Speaker 2 (01:06:48):
It's kind of a
stacked group this year it's a
tough race and the bucks are.
Speaker 1 (01:06:54):
Sometimes the mvp
vote comes down to whose team is
playing the best too and whosewhose team is getting the job
done.
And it makes you question ifaim, if dame was healthy
consistently and playing welland then yannis was playing well
, would that put yannis higherup on the list?
Because then people would betalking about yannis because the
bucks would be near the top ofthe east.
So it always has that weighingin on people's minds there.
So I guess well, I mean, we'llwait and see.
(01:07:16):
I'm guessing it's probablygoing to be sga.
I'm gonna agree with you there.
I do, like you talked aboutkate cunningham, though what the
pistons have done this year, from being basement dwellers to
what we see now, can't believeit.
I absolutely can't believe it.
So before I let you go, we gotjust about here to our
commercial break.
We gotta let kyle go for thenight here.
But, kyle, before I let you go,big boston guy over here.
(01:07:36):
You saw a little bit of quinnpriester there with the boston
red sox.
The brewers just made that.
What are your thoughts on thatdeal that the Brewers and Red
Sox kind of struck up?
Brewer fans think they gothosed.
Red Sox fans are kind of like, yeah, we didn't need the pitcher
right now, but we got a prettygood outfielder.
Where are you at right now withthat trade?
Speaker 2 (01:07:58):
Look, I mean I was
surprised that it went down
because when the Red Sox withPriester in Boston was, there's
been a couple of guys who'vecome up from AAA or AA through
the system that have made debutswith the team that look good.
So I think it kind of pushedPriester down a little bit bit.
(01:08:20):
I do think for Priester thisprobably works out better for
him because early in the seasonyou know the Brewers pitching
hasn't been that great.
I think they're second worst interms of team ERA at like six a
game.
So if Priester can kind of showthat flash, that potential and
(01:08:40):
show what the Red socks on him Ithink he came from the pirate
system as well.
You know, maybe mid season oreven in like a few weeks maybe
he establishes himself in thatrotation and can kind of start
carving out a bit of a careerfor himself.
Like I, I see why the brewersdid it.
(01:09:01):
I mean brewers fans yeah, yougave up your what number seven
prospect that you hear numberseven prospect fans will all
automatically kind of overreactto it because it's a high
ranking prospect.
But you got to think about it.
Brewers need pitching.
They got a pitcher withpotential.
I feel like it's it kind ofworks both ways, cause the Red
(01:09:23):
Sox are kind of loaded in theoutfield.
But he's a bat and you know, inFenway in that division you
always need bats.
So I think for both in a coupleof years they'll probably look
back on it and say both gotsomething that we wanted and,
(01:09:43):
you know, hopefully somethingscrewed.
Speaker 1 (01:09:45):
Yeah, right,
hopefully somebody gets screwed.
It's all said and done there.
So I mean, yeah, it's exactlywhat I said top of the show when
we were talking about it.
At the top of the show, I saidthe same exact thing.
The brewer saw a guy.
They wanted the outfieldsalready loaded, so a number
seven prospect in the outfield, what I mean.
And in day and age, at thistime of the season, you're not
getting a starting pitcherwithout an arm and a leg going
(01:10:07):
out the door.
So I mean, yeah, that's aboutit there.
So if you guys want to catch allKyle's stuff because he has
great stuff across social mediacheck him out there, chopping at
the Bit podcast there, checkhim out on Facebook Everywhere
where you can find anything Kyleis there.

But hey, we got more on theback side here, special guests

We got a new guest coming onhere tonight for the first time.
He's going to be back a lot Ican tell you right now.
But we got a new guest comingon, nailed it.
We sat there I kid you not atthe last break and I had to
figure out how to say his namefor the longest.
It doesn't sound how it's spelt, but that's exactly like my name
(01:11:32):
there, so Umber, how are wedoing tonight, on this Wednesday

Speaker 3 (01:11:36):

over here by DMV area, but Ican't complain, man, we're alive

That's how it goes,
alive and well.
That's all you need to know.

That's all you need

here.
But I mean, let's fly rightinto it.
We're off and running tonighthere.
We might as well keep it goinghere.
What do you think?
I mean, we've been seeing theywere working out.
We saw it seemed like they werein good spirits, right?
Because the last time we sawJair he walked out of the locker
room and said basically deuces,I'm out of here, I ain't
talking to nobody, and he leftand it was like, okay, he's not
(01:12:33):
happy, who's he not happy with,I don't know.
Well, now we see a little bit ofan off-season working out for a
while now seem to be in goodspirits, which is the opposite
of what we thought Jair was.
So the Packers we haven't seena lot of movement.
Goody said they'd like to.
If they're gonna move them, move them before the draft, so
they know what they got.
Not really any rumblings rightnow, especially because he just
(01:12:53):
had the owners meeting and allthese guys were together.
We haven't heard anything outof there.
What do you think the Packersare going to do?
You think they're going to moveon from?
I mean, what would you do ifyou were in the packers shoes?
Are you moving on from?
Are you keeping jair, alexander?
Speaker 3 (01:13:05):
I mean the thing with
jair is that you know he was
brian gutico's first draft pickin the first round.
Right, he traded up for himafter going back and forth with
the saints, getting, you know, getting additional picks and
stuff like that.
He, jair, is a two-time all-pro.
He is probably the best corneron our team and yeah, yeah, he's
had some injury issues.
We did have some you knowcaptain stuff issues last year
(01:13:25):
in Carolina, but again, whenhe's on the field he is a
difference maker.
I think last year there was alot of frustration on his part
probably on the team's partabout the fact that you know he
tried to come back and rehabinstead of getting surgery
earlier.
I find a way to keep himbecause even Goody even said it
at the owner's meeting he goes.
We've invested a lot of energyand time in Jair and you know
(01:13:48):
you want to get something backfor him.
More likely you probably won'tbecause everybody knows there's
this like impasse right now.
But if, if, seen him trainingwith McKinney, he actually also
called Nate Hobbs and liketexted him, I mean, and told him
was like hey, man, congratulations, welcome to the
team.
So he's doing things that makesme feel like he's still a part
of the team, which he is, and hehas every incentive to come to
(01:14:09):
the team.
Come to the voluntary workouts.
Still get paid.
If he wants to, I find a way tokeep him.
If not, if it doesn't work out,I find a way to do right by him
and send him to Baltimore soyou can play with his former
teammate, lamar Jackson and Lukefrom Louisville.
The happiness that he had whenhe saw Lamar get drafted in the
first draw back in 2018 wassomething that he still shows to
this day, and I know the caphit is negligible.
(01:14:32):
For the most part, they'retalking about how they've gone
to him and they have not gone tohim on a restructure.
Even if they did, he wouldn'ttake it.
So I don't know if it'sbasically a line has been drawn
and we're just trying to seewho's gonna budge first.
But at the end of the day, mepersonally, I do try to find a
way to keep him because we're abetter team with him on the
field without.
I know people say for how longor how many games?
Speaker 1 (01:14:55):
I don't know, but for
all the games he plays, he
pretty much is a shutdownquarter yeah, no, I would agree,
and you know the only the waythat I would bring him back is I
would tell him you getincentives.
This is how it's going to be.
If you play so many games, thisis how much money you get.
You give him his whole contractIf he plays a set amount of
games.
Does this, does this, you getfour picks or whatever.
Just spitballing here fourpicks not really that high, but
(01:15:18):
whatever, you would count as theaverage for interceptions right
Across the league.
So many tackles, so many passto flat, whatever it is right.
You give them thoseincentive-based contract and say
this is what you got to do toprove it to us, not just give
them a guaranteed contract atthis point, because I got to be
honest with you, it's not worththe guarantee at this point
because you aren't.
(01:15:39):
That's the thing, is what sucks.
It's said when he's out therelockdown he's your guy, yeah.
But when he's out there like, Imean, these last two years
we've seen him for seven gamesin total 2021 we saw him for
four.
When we see him for 16 games,he's fantastic, yeah, but can we
get him for 16?
That's the question and that'swhere a lot of pack fans are at.
We're there, why do we need him?
Why?
And so we forget that he'sthere because he's hurt all the
(01:16:01):
time.
So it's like can you get himback?
Can you get him healthy?
Hopefully you do.
Hopefully you bring in theright strength and training guys
that can keep him healthy, keephim out there and keep the
thing moving.
But that's where I'm goingright now is incentive-based a
little bit there for thecontract for him.
But the Packers you mentioned itthere they had a couple of
moves this last offseason Nate, nate Hobbs and Aaron Banks.
I thought great moves, nateHobbs.
(01:16:21):
I thought on that defense, he'svery versatile, can move around
, he can play inside, outside, wherever you need him.
That's what Goody loved abouthim.
I see that too.
With him there, aaron Banks.
He's a road grader.
I mean, that's what the Packerswanted.
They wanted a road grader.
Speaker 2 (01:16:35):
He's a road grader on
the inside.
Fans are still upset, thoughalways upset.
Speaker 1 (01:16:39):
It's like why can't
we just be, why can't we just be
happy?
Right, everybody just wants tobe happy.
We can't be, we it's.
It's so crazy to me because weyell about corners.
We get a corner.
He's not good enough.
We yell about the well, I can'tbelieve that anybody yelled
about the offensive line.
Because you want to know why welost to the eagles the
offensive line.
Speaker 3 (01:16:55):
Yeah, it was once we
went out.
Speaker 1 (01:16:58):
We were done.
We were done because people arelike, oh well, you well, you
know, it wasn't just that.
I'm like no penalties galoreAfter Elton Jenkins went out.
So many penalties we couldn'teven get a drive start.
So, yes, it was a big reason.
So I look at that and I'm like, love it, love the move for
Aaron Banks.
But fans are upset.
They say, well, why didn't yougo get this wide receiver?
(01:17:19):
Why didn't you go get this guy?
Why didn't you go get this guy?
What do you think?
What do you think of thesemoves that the Packers have made
so far?
Is it enough in your eyes, didthey do enough in your eyes so
far in free agency to say I likethis?
You know, because a lot of youlisten to Goody and he's like we
can fill these holes with theguys in the room right the
defensive line.
We love what we have in theroom already, some of these
(01:17:39):
widest the wide receiver room.
We love what we got.
I said I kind of like what theygot too.
So I don't know, I'm kind of ata crossroad with that.
What do you think about themoves they made?
Do you think it's enough?
Speaker 3 (01:17:49):
I think that, no
matter what the Packers did,
this free agent market was notas good as we thought.
There was a lot of big moneythat was thrown out.
We did have to throw a lot ofbig money for Aaron Banks, but
again, aaron comes from a systemwith shanahan systems.
(01:18:09):
He kind of already knows howthe floor runs his team.
When it comes to offensive line, he does shore up either the
left or right guard.
Consider that elton nowprobably moved to center now,
yeah, like was I really keen onthe sign based on the money
amount?
Not really, but I get why theydid like you just said.
When elton went out, that wholeoffensive line was his gone,
shambles, right.
And then nate hobbs, who's anamazing corner, but talked to a
lot of my friends that areraiders fans.
They say that he's gonna missgames.
So it's almost like you know wegot a guy who's highly
aggressive, who likes to attackthe ball and when you hear him
(01:18:31):
talk too, he seems like a veryhumble down to earth and just
loves football, like he justwants to play football.
And even in the kansas citygame last year where he broke
his hand and they're like, hey, man, you might be done and he's
like no, cast it up and he wentback out to the second half of
the cast on his hand and stillwas played, was still trying to
get the job done.
So, all in all, I think we allgot spoiled in 2019 when beauty
(01:18:54):
spent a lot of money on the freeagency market with, you know,
preston, smith and darius andthings like that, right amos,
and then this last year, with, you know, josh jacobs and
mckinney.
So I think there was a precedentset, but it's been pretty well
documented.
The money that was set up for alot of players.
There were some marquee playersout there, but we weren't going
to get those guys like themilton williams and things like
that.
That wasn't going to happen.
So for me, I think they didwhat they need to do, so that
(01:19:16):
way, they didn't feel that theyhad to reach in the draft.
And I say that probably becauseI remember the year we drafted
jason spriggs and we were veryconcerned about our tackle
position.
Right clifton was gone.
We didn't really have a shortleft tackle.
You know we trade up to getahead of the bears to get jason
spriggs in the second round andthen what happens?
He turns out to be a completebust.
(01:19:37):
And I think that same year wegot david makitari, who
eventually takes over lefttackle, becomes an all pro
tackle, right.
So now that we have pretty mucha guard that can play any three
, any of the two guard positions, we have a quarter who can play
inside or out, like we're notpigeonholed.
It's like having to reach for acertain player, let's not
forget.
You know, we got you know, eventhough he's not like a marquee
(01:19:57):
receiver, you know.
Speaker 2 (01:19:58):
Michael.
Speaker 3 (01:19:58):
Hartman is a great
fourth, fourth, fourth WR4.
He's an amazing special teamsguy.
So Nixon's already talked aboutsay he doesn't want to kick
returns anymore because he'sgonna be CB1.
Yeah, that's fine, because wegot a guy that can do it and
with the rules that are changingnow they're gonna be more
kickoffs.
Nixon might be interested ingoing back out there, but if he
doesn't, we have a guy that canplay, punt return and kick
(01:20:19):
return, and he does it reallywell too.
He's, you know, coming again.
Another georgia kid comes outof georgia, ran like a four,
three night coming out, and ofcourse he's a lot older now but
I'm pretty sure his speed isstill up there.
And having him as that guy thatdoes not only the special teams
role but also maybe the tylerirvin role with that, you know
that orbit motion stuff, bringthat back.
I I'm okay.
(01:20:39):
I'm really looking forward toseeing how they attack this
draft, because there's a lot ofguys that I'm already in fall in
love with and I just don't knowhow the hell they're going to
get on.
Speaker 1 (01:20:48):
Exactly that's the
problem.
As you look at it, it's like Iwish they could get this guy,
this guy and this guy.
And well, cooper DeGene walksaway right.
Speaker 3 (01:20:56):
Look Jackson Smith
and Jiggo was my guy last year.
I I love him.
Speaker 1 (01:20:59):
I love him too, and I
did.
I love Cooper DeGene too, butthe amount of Chris I got to
listen to everybody freak outabout Cooper DeGene now, Like
they.
You know I said it.
Speaker 3 (01:21:08):
That's my guy.
Speaker 1 (01:21:10):
I love Cooper DeGene
and I really wanted him, but
everybody was freaking out afterthe Eagles game, and after we
saw what Cooper DeGene did withthe Eagles there, they're like,
oh well, that's what we missedout on.
It's like, ah, but you put himin Green Bay with no pass rush.
It changes what the secondarylooks like too.
So I mean, you never know.
You never know what he wouldhave done as a rookie in Green
(01:21:32):
Bay in a different kind ofsystem with a different line,
because they're bringing fourand they can drop back seven.
It's a lot easier to place inthe secondary.
So that's big.
I mean, yes, that is huge too.
I love what you said there aboutHardman, though, and I
completely agree.
I said the same thing.
The rules are changing.
Kick returning is going tobecome a hot commodity, and
bringing in a guy like that, who's excellent in the return
game, I love it.
(01:21:52):
You need guys like that now, because they they're going to do
everything they can over thenext couple of years to make
sure that everybody's returningkicks.
I still don't understand why wedon't move the kicker back.
We keep penalizing them, foryou know, we're gonna keep
moving them out right, we'regonna move it to the 40 here
pretty soon.
Pretty soon it's gonna bemidfield.
Not a fair catch they're gonnabe off right that's where
they're gonna be at, and I'mlike why don't you just move the
(01:22:13):
kicker back like?
We keep moving why don't wemove him back like 10 yards?
Speaker 3 (01:22:17):
if he boots it from
his own 20 through the end zone,
okay, give him a point, likeget a free point, I don't care,
like that's cool but probably, probably, probably, probably the
only one that's doing right, yeah, so I mean, I'm with you,
though I just, yeah, they'remaking all these rule changes
and then you know a lot of likenfl safety concerns and then on
top of that too, but they'restill making these rules that
you feel like it's not reallytaking.
You know, we're trying to addan extra game, things like that,
(01:22:39):
right, so it's like a littlebit of talking out both sides of
your neck, but I agree, likethe kicker thing is one way to
help change that, because thenit gets you in that zone that
you're trying to kick into yeah, right, so I think.
But you know again.
Uh, I know just muscata who, um, actually was a part of the xfl
and he was a part of, like, actually helping create.
I don't know if he helpedcreate it, but he knew about the
whole kickoff rule.
When I was over there and thisis where we're trying to adopt a
(01:23:01):
little bit and he was sayingthat, yeah, their kickoffs, if
you kick them to end zone, itcomes to their 40.
So what you just said issomething that they do.
So, yeah, exactly.
So it's like yeah, I don't knowwhere this is going to go, but
I'm really looking forward toseeing, like I mean, if Nixon's
(01:23:22):
fresh legs for your number onecorner, because he's going to be
out there running all the time, you don't need him playing four
downs, basically, and taking alick, I don't need him taking a
lick either.
Speaker 2 (01:23:31):
I mean that fumble on
that quick return man you mean
the illegal helmet-to-helmetcontact.
Yes.
Speaker 1 (01:23:36):
They ruled out the
fact.
100% agree, yes.
Speaker 3 (01:23:44):
Oren Bur.
Speaker 1 (01:23:44):
Yes, oran burks is
dead, to me that's all I have to
say, oran burks, my favoritepart was they.
Yes, they find them a weeklater and they're like oh yeah,
it was an illegal hit.
And we're like where was that?
In the moment you guysre-looked at it, where?
Was that in the moment, butokay, and they had the sky cam
that could see it happen.
Speaker 3 (01:23:58):
I'm thinking like and
then I'll talk like he did get
possession back and and thensomehow over the scrum he
eventually loses.
But eventually in the beginninghe was down, he had the ball in
his hand.
I'm like that's Packer ball.
Speaker 2 (01:24:08):
When that happened.
Speaker 3 (01:24:09):
I don't like to be a
pessimist.
I like to do a lot of ball game, like Nagler does.
But, man, I was like this isnot the way you start out.
It's like come on, man, youhave this going into this game.
We already came with a losingstreak too like this is terrible
.
What are we doing right now?
Speaker 1 (01:24:23):
so when that happened
, I I sat back.
I was sitting forward, I waslike excited and I sat back.
I was like yeah, that's it,yeah that's it.
Speaker 3 (01:24:30):
Absolutely yes, but
I'm gonna be bad, as I don't
know what the whole time.
Speaker 1 (01:24:36):
Yep, I was like I'm
gonna sit here, but I went
shovel snow at halftime.
I was like like I'm going toshovel some snow.
I am bad at eating right nowI'm going outside.
Speaker 3 (01:24:44):
I have all these my
Philly friends and all these
people blowing up my phone.
I'm just like guys.
Just let's not.
Speaker 1 (01:24:49):
Oh, you're out that
way too, yeah, I got out.
Speaker 3 (01:24:52):
I went to Philly to
watch the game with my friends
because it was in Brazil.
so we didn't go to Brazil, obviously, even though we lost,
it was a back and forth game, right yeah oh yeah, and I think
that last year with everythingthat kind of happened, you know
we didn't really get blown outvery much, like you know.
I'm saying like we were in mostgames, um, but it just I felt
like all the games we shouldhave won we did win, except the
(01:25:15):
bears game, because that bearsgame we should have won.
Hand right bobby again, injuries were killing us and
something you mentionedpreviously about the training
staff like we got a new trainingstaff here.
Aaron Hill came from the Niners.
He was an assistant strengthand conditioning coach there and
him and like Jair, vibed reallywell.
Like he said that they all aregreat, they're on the same page.
(01:25:36):
And we did see a decrease whatwas it?
A decrease in hamstring, butthere was an increase in, like
knee injuries.
It was something different.
Like we were seeing Right andagain, no matter what you do,
you can't account for injuries, like injuries that happen or
freak things.
You know these guys they puttheir bodies in some kind of
like conditioning to where youknow like it's just going to,
it's just going to happen.
(01:25:56):
You know, they're so wound upso tightly Sometimes you just
can't, you can't really accountfor it I agree.
Speaker 1 (01:26:01):
I agree 100.
That was great stuff there fromamar.
We're gonna catch him back here.
He'll be back next week, don'tyou guys worry, he'll be back

that we're going to startworking with here.

the future here.
Just gotta fine tune somethings and then we're gonna get
that up and rolling here.
So I can't.
I can't wait for that, becauseit is exciting what we got in
(01:28:55):
the works right now.
So stay tuned for moreinformation on that one there.
So I want to jump back over tothe Badgers just for a second.
There wasn't a whole lot to it,I guess, but this came across
my Twitter feed the other daytalking about Mark and Leslie
Johnson.
So Mark Johnson, the head coachof the Wisconsin Badgers
(01:29:16):
women's hockey team there, andalso his wife, leslie.
They have opened up a new ranch.
It's called ACPE I probablybutchered that, just to be
honest with you.
A-g-a-p-e Ranch there it'sgoing to be opening up.
It aims to provide a safe andpositive healing experience for
(01:29:37):
kids through the power of natureand animals, especially horses.
Johnson said kids interactingwith horses will help boost
their self-confidence.
That is 100% the truth, 100%the truth.
And I don't know if you know me,you know about my family and
everything like that, or if youdon't know me.
My family has had horses forgenerations Belgian draft horses
(01:29:59):
, right, not Clydesdales.
I swear you get more in my ifany of my aunts, uncles, grandma
she's probably listening rightnow they have gotten some.
Are these Clydesdales?
He's like, no, they're Belgiandraft horses.
Are these?
No, they're Belgian drafthorses.
Like, get that question, allthis thinking time there.
But I, I I agree with thatstatement a hundred percent.
(01:30:20):
This is a awesome thing thatthey are setting up here because
you see kids and they perk upwhen they see horses and they
can go from zero to 100 whenthey see a horse, the horses.
If you get the right horses, they're like giant dogs.
So I love what they're doinghere because it is going to open
up avenues for kids all overthe place that they didn't even
(01:30:40):
know.
And my wife?
She worked at a therapeuticranch for a little bit there.
So she has experience in thisfield too.
So it's an exciting thing.
It is an exciting thing and I amglad that these two such great
people such great people alreadybut that they're giving back in
such a kind way and maybesometime I don't know how this
thing works, but maybe you cango down and see it and stuff
(01:31:02):
like that you can know.
If I don't know how this thingworks, but maybe you can go down
and see it and stuff like thatum, you could also.
There's they got uh cleaningout the chicken coop.
You can go clean some chickenpoop out.
I mean that sounds excitinggardening, gardening, everything
like that so you can get a fullexperience when you're down
there at the ocpay ranch.
So make sure you're looking upthere.
It's at the uh to raise money.
They also hosted a charityevent, I guess.
So they've been doing a lot ofcharity work with it too.
(01:31:23):
So it's just exciting stuff.
So just giving back to thecommunity.
I saw that and I just wanted totalk about it, just announce it
a little bit, just raiseawareness for it, because that
was awesome when I saw that washappening.
So that's about all I had therewith the Badgers.
I want to jump over a little bitof Brewer talk here.
So we're watching the Brewersright now.
(01:31:46):
As you guys know, we'repre-recorded so we record night
before right.
I'm watching the Brewers rightnow.
Yelich just went deep thereagainst I I think it was against
Herget there for the Rockies.
Yelich struggled mightily inthat game 0 for 3 against
Freeland and goodness gracious I, out of all the guys Freeland
faced, if he would have facedYelich every time the he would
have looked like he was like thebest pitcher in all the all
baseball.
It seemed like his stuff wasreally working when he's
(01:32:07):
pitching the yellich and it was.
I was really kind of nervousthere for a minute.
And now I'm watching this hereand the brewers bats are just
taking off.
We got contreras going deepthere.
We had we just saw bryce durango deep to extend that hitting
streak and then we we seeContreras go deep, yelich goes.
Everybody is joining in in thehome run parade there.
This Brewers team over this lastweekend here against the Royals
(01:32:30):
or not against the Royalsagainst the Reds?
There they did face the Royalsbefore that, but against the
Reds they started to take off alittle bit and it was because
the pitching staff came backdown to earth, right, the
pitching staff.
You look at the first seriesagainst the Yankees, those are
some skewed numbers.
I mean first game of the season.
Freddie Peralta pitched well, there was four runs in the
entire game there for theYankees.
(01:32:51):
In that one Freddie ended uptaking the loss.
He gave up two of those runs.
So not really I'm not going tosit here and say it was
completely Freddie's fault, right, two runs given up in the
entire game there.
Next game out 20 runs they gaveup.
Next game out 12 runs given up.
And then they faced the royalsgame 1 11 runs given up.
And you're like when is itgoing to stop?
Right, when is it going to stop?
(01:33:11):
That's when this guy came alongby the name of chad patrick.
I don't, I didn't know who thisguy was.
They're like who's chad patrick?
This is random guy, random guy.
We're gonna call him random guy.
Right comes in four andtwo-thirds inning three hits,
three walks, five Ks in this onePitched fantastic right and it
was all around a great effortthen in the rest of this for the
(01:33:33):
Brewers team.
There pitching-wise, theypitched a shutout and then after
that the arms took off.
The arms took care of businessthen and it felt like we were
watching Brewer baseball, howthe Brewers win games.
It felt like we were watchingthat again 5-0 in that game
against the Royals, 3-2 in thenext game against the Royals,
there to win the series, 1-0against the Reds, 3-2 against
(01:33:54):
the Reds in game two.
And then game three came aroundand my goodness, they have got
to let Rodriguez.
I vouched for him, I did After.
I believe it was the Royals.
I think they lost the game tothe Royals.
They're 11-1.
And I think he gave up six, maybe four, only four, not bad,
(01:34:15):
only four, right.
And he gave up those four runsand I was like, guys, first off,
he's not even supposed to bepitching, I'm not going to start
beating on this guy justbecause I can.
Well, now I'm looking at it andI'm like, okay, one's bad, two
games of just getting shelled.
That's a different story.
(01:34:35):
Because in that game againstthe Reds the Brewers needed,
like they needed one shutdowninning One In that whole stretch
.
They needed one.
They put up I mean the Reds putup four runs.
Actually it was 7-0.
Then the Brewers came back, made it 7-5.
Then the Reds put up three moreruns, made it 10-5.
And the Brewers put up two, made it 10-7.
(01:34:58):
And then one more run thereafter that and it night, nighty,
night lights out, right, it'sjust.
You want to sit there and hopethat this guy could figure it
out at some point, because thebrewers have had guys figure it
out at some point, but I, ifthat was the last outing of
rodriguez, that was the lastouting on regas.
We'll get over it there and hecan take what's his name with
him too there.
(01:35:18):
Uh, I believe the other guy whopitched there was connor thomas
in that one.
Connor Thomas, he's gotten litup multiple times there, for the
Brewers too.
So I've had enough of watchingboth them guys pitch at this
point and I know I can't bepicky because there's nobody
left right.
I know I can't be too picky, but son of a gun, son of a gun.
It's like the Brewers pitchingstaff finally figured out, went
(01:35:38):
through this stretch of gameswhere they start the season,
look how many runs they gave.
Oh, what 32, 36 runs, 36.
And then what 47 runs throughthe first four games.
And then they go on this burnerand they only give up four runs
.
And that stretch you're like, wow, okay, here we go, and then
the Reds score 11.
And then next day out they onlyscore two.
So it's like, where was yourdifference?
(01:35:59):
Well, so it's like where wasyour difference?
Well, these guys pitching right, and there's not much you can
do about it because the pitchingstaff is kind of banged up.
But we'll see.
I mean, I'm hoping that thatwas probably their last outing.
I know Quintana is slated tocome back here pretty soon.
I did see exciting news TobiasMyers last night or last night
there he did pitch a game downin Nashville and that was
(01:36:20):
exciting because it was a goodinning, three and a third
innings.
Pitched two hits, zero runs, two walks, two strikeouts, 45
pitches.
Nice, nice rehab start therefor Tobias Myers there down at
Nashville.
So exciting news.
Hopefully get a couple moreoutings out of him.
He's feeling good.
He can come back there.
(01:36:40):
Woodruff can come back.
You get Nestor back back, nastyNestor there.
You get some of these guyscoming back.
I feel good because until thenyou got guys like Chad Patrick
and Chad Patrick's picked.
Well, I mean his second timeout there.
Oh, when did he he pitched?
I was trying to remember.
When the heck did he pitch thatsecond game there for the
Brewers.
(01:37:00):
It was not Tyler Alexander's theone who almost no hit the Reds.
That was a solid outing too.
Maybe Tyler Alexander has alittle bit of an encore outing
there.
It must've, it must've beenthis game here.
Yes, it was.
This game is the final game ofthe series there.
Chad Patrick got the win.
Five and a third, two hits, oneearned run.
Chad Patrick was fantastic,fantastic.
So I'm looking at this teamright now and I'm like all right
(01:37:20):
, all right.
So I'm looking at this teamright now and I'm like all right
, all right, we found some guyswho can get her done.
Now it's about surviving therest of the outings.
Right, you got some guys thatyou know you can send out there
and they're going to pitch well.
It's just about surviving therest of these outings.
And fastball Freddie pitchedwell tonight.
Again, freddie's been pitchingwell.
I know I don't even understand.
Coming off of game one, everybody I had to read the
(01:37:43):
doorknobs across social mediaTell me that Freddy Peralta is
not an ace and it's like whendid he?
When did everybody say that itwas Nobody?
But Freddy Peralta has notpitched that bad this season for
the Brewers.
I don't know if you like, realistically, do people think
that he's pitching that bad,2.08 ERA, 16 strikeouts?
(01:38:04):
He's got a .54whip.
Gave up two runs against theYankees on opening day in Yankee
Stadium, playing on the shortporch.
Does anybody remember seeingthe stat that said that Austin
Wells' home run was only a homerun in Yankee Stadium in the
short porch and right, otherwiseSal would have caught?
(01:38:24):
It was only a home run inYankee Stadium in the short
portion, right, otherwise Salwould have caught it.
The home run that, I believe.
Who was the other one that wentdeep on him?
Was it Volpe?
I don't remember off the top ofmy head if it was Volpe or not,
but that home run was only ahome run in like nine stadiums
outside of YankeeStadium.
Some people just drive me nuts.
Just drive me nuts.
I think they do it on purpose.
I think they do it on purpose.
(01:38:45):
They just drive me nuts onpurpose.
So the Brewers been playingwell and that's what we wanted
to see.
We talked about a little bitearlier there.
We talked about the QueenPriester move at the top of the
show, so if you missed it I'mnot going to go over it again.
(01:39:06):
No-transcript.
The brewers made.
They got, uh, mike cameron'sson, daz cameron, I think it's
his name there.
Daz cameron was moved to thebrewers there.
Wolf graham uh the, what theheck was his name there?
Wolf Wolf Graham the Brewersjust pulled him up just the
other day.
And Grant Wolf Graham, theleft-handed pitcher.
(01:39:28):
He was sent to the Orioles.
The Brewers received DazCameron back in cash.
So, grant Wolf the dealbasically happened because Wolf
Graham was designated forassignment.
So instead of losing him forabsolutely nothing, they cleared
space for Quinn Priester.
So, instead of losing him forabsolutely nothing, they made a
trade.
They made a trade at theOrioles.
They got Daz Cameron, son ofMike Cameron.
That's pretty cool.
(01:39:49):
That's pretty cool there to geta guy like Mike Cameron's son
inthere.
He hasn't done a lot.
He's been in the bigs.
He's been in the bigs for acouple times now, appeared in
parts of four MLB seasons withthe tigers 2022 or 2020 to 2022
and the a's 2024.
He's hit 201.
He's at 10 home runs night 39rbi's there uh, 48 runs, 14
(01:40:10):
steals across 139 games.
So not much to write home about, but cool move, I guess.
So, yeah, that's what.
Well, he got their dad's cameraand hopefully a boatload of
money.
Yeah, probably not, but put thegap.
So that's what.
That's what we got for a brewertalking here for a minute.
We'll wrap up the brewer talk.
On the back side of the breakwe'll come back.
We'll wrap it up here for theday.
So can't wait to come back hereon the show.

On our off days of the radio,we're hoping to get live a few
times there.
Talk about brewers, badgers, anything crazy that's happening
in the sporting world.
We hope to get on there andtalk about that coming up here
pretty darn soon there.
So to wrap us up for the day,we only got a short little time
here, but to wrap us up for theday here, I just wanted to jump.
We got brewertalk.
(01:42:16):
I mean, we're talking about thebrewers there before the break
and it's so hard right now topreview.
Like you, how do you previewahead, ahead for the Brewers?
Who are the Brewers going to befacing right for the Rockies?
You can preview that portion, but outside, what do you like?
How do you preview what we'regoing to see here?
Because there's no outside ofFreddy Peralta.
We barely know who's pitchingRight now.
(01:42:39):
All that they know is thatAlexander is slated for
tonight's game, as we all know.
As I'm talking here, theBrewers are probably playing, so
Alexander is slated fortonight.
Tomorrow is a question.
Rodriguez is slated still forFriday.
I'm hoping that gets changed.
We'll see.
And I believe, if I'm notmistaken, after we see it should
(01:43:01):
be Rodriguez and then Patrick.
So I don't know why it's stillgot a question mark for that
game against Arizona onSaturday.
But Burns, we get to faceBurnsy on Saturday.
I can't wait for that.
I forgot.
It's going to be Rodriguezversus Rodriguez.
If the Brewers do stick with.
What's his name for theBrewers?
(01:43:21):
Alvin pitching.
They got Eduardo Rodriguez, sowe're gonna have Alvin Rodriguez
versus Eduardo Rodriguez forthe for the Arizona Diamondbacks
.
Nice, but they got Rodriguez, burns and Gallen all going back
to back to back and then talkabout facing a gauntlet of
starters and I maybe I'm justoverreacting, that could be
(01:43:43):
right.
You have Burns Gallen and thenSkubal and then Flaherty Burns
Gallen, skubal and Flaherty Allin a row between the
Diamondbacks series, and thenyou go face the Tigers and you
get Skubal and Flaherty rightoff the bat.
Wow, all right, right, we'regonna get tested.
(01:44:05):
They're gonna find out if theycan hit right right off the bat
here this season.
That is nuts.
That isnuts.
I did not see.
I just was looking through theuh schedule coming up because I
was gonna bring up a point that, like you don't know who the
brewers are pitching, well, youdon't know.
I mean, looking at the schedule, I didn't want to know who was
pitching against them, because, holy cats, that should be a heck
of a series there.
I mean, here we go, here we go.
(01:44:27):
Right, you want an excitement.
You get excitement with theseguys.
That is going to be a heck ofsome.
Those are going to be some heckof some.
Those are going to be some darngood matchups.
Let's go with that.
Some darn goodmatchups.
Also, I saw the jerseys, thefootball jersey idea that they
had.
Those are pretty cool.
I got to be honest with you.
If anybody I don't know, I gotto check out when that game is
(01:44:47):
with the Brewers football jersey.
But I got to get myself downthere and hopefully grab one of
them, because I see Jeff and Timlast night on the broadcast
they had one up in the boothwith them.
So hopefully, hopefully, I canget my hands on one of them.
Darn things.
They're One of them, darnthings.
They're moving forward here.
But hey, we got just a littlebit here before we got to wrap
it up for theday.
I wanted to get over into oneof our segments what's grinding
(01:45:07):
my gears?
What's grinding my gears?
And the biggest thing comingoff this last weekend that was
grinding my gears absolutely wasthe Duke game.
I talk about Duke too much, tobe honest with you.
I dislike Duke.
I talk about it too much.
I'll be honest with you.
I dislike Duke.
I talk about it too much.
That game against Houston I gotto be honest with you.
(01:45:29):
If you're coming off that, andI saw so many people complaining
complaining just to complainthat Duke lost the basketball
game and that the reffing didn'tgo their way.
Welcome to our world, becausefor the last how many years?
Years the reffing didn't go ourway and it went your
way.
(01:45:49):
Asked, with 2015 nationalchampionship folks, what the hay
happened there.
What I recall was a ball wentoff winslow's finger and what I
recall was first half we decidedwe weren't going to call much,
but the second half we weregoing to call it all.
But why are we only complainingabout it now?
(01:46:10):
Right, why are we complainingabout it now?
J Will.
I hear J Will complaining aboutit.
Well, first half of Florida andHouston.
I think it was talking aboutFlorida and Houston.
There he's like oh, it's notcalling nothing, it's not going
to have to call everything, andI agree it got absolutely
ridiculous.
But they don't complain whenthe right team wins, they
(01:46:32):
complain when it's the wrongteam.
That's what it is and it'sridiculous.
Houston had a great season.
Hats off to them, florida.
They survived multiple gameslike that.
They were losing to Auburn.
They were losing to Houston.
They were losing to Texas Tech.
They were losing a lot of gamesand they found ways to win and
(01:46:55):
win national championships.
So hats off to what the FloridaGators were able to do to wrap
up that season.
But what's grinding my gears isthat all this complaining about
reffing all the time, do wenot?
I saw a tweet and it said Dukeled by 14 with 8.03 left in the
game.
Duke led by 9 with 2.06 left inthe game.
(01:47:18):
Duke led by 6 with 34 secondsleft in the game.
Duke led by 3 with 25 secondsleft in the game.
Duke led by three with 25seconds left in the game and
Duke led by one with 19 secondsin the game and they
lost.
Why can't we just say JohnShire didn't draw up any good
plays?
Why can't we say that I thoughthis inbounds play sucked.
(01:47:39):
I thought Tyrus Proctor wasdribbling around like he was
running the show and I thoughtthe shot that Cooper Flagg got
that was the best shot you couldget was a contested jumper.
Sure, like I get, cooper Flaggis a talent, but the best shot
(01:48:01):
you could find was a contestedjumper for flag.
That's it.
Great call, greatplay.
People complained about johntonjay's shot, right.
A lot of bad fans said whydidn't greg guard drop a better
play?
That's the best you could getfor cooper flag.
One of the best players in thenation, the best player in the
nation, a lot of eyes Huh, itjust absolutely irritates me.
(01:48:27):
When we sit here we blameofficials all the time.
You had a 14-point lead with8.03 left.
You scored zero field goals inlike 10 minutes.
10 minutes of gameplay.
That loses basketball gamespretty darn fast.
(01:48:47):
So that's what's grinding mygears this week is people just
blaming officials, just to blameofficials?
So, hey, we got to get out ofhere for the day.
We are just about to the twohour mark
