Speaker 2 (00:34):
how we doing
everybody and welcome into
wisconsin sports on the go withtrage.
I'm your host, trage, we'recoming back.
It's friday.
I know it's late.
I know it's late, we're sorry.
I had a vaccine talk tonight.
All right, I had a vaccine talktonight and okay, we haven't
here.
We got some great news tonight.
We got.
I got two things are great news.
Two things are great news.
Most of you guys out therehaven't heard number one, which
(00:56):
is the greatest news my wife andI are expecting our first child
.
So there you go, greatest newsright there.
That's the greatest news.
Aaron already knew, so he'sacting surprised over there, but
he already knew about it andthen so so we went to a vaccine
talk tonight, basically aboutwhat do's and don'ts have given
vaccines to kids and everythinglike that.
But that's why we're a littlelate.
Second great news that I toldyou guys coming back here I said
(01:19):
friday I'd have some excitingnews for you guys.
The show.
Show will be.
It'll be broadcasted on 92,three WOSQ coming soon.
February 12th is the start datefor that one.
We'll be on 92, three WOSQ.
So that's great news.
There's a show will be on theradio.
That's going to be awesome.
Just got done, talking withsome of the some of the radio
guys today there and we're we'reall excited.
(01:49):
We're all really excited to getthis thing up off the ground
there, start out small one day aweek, work our way up after
that see what happens there.
But hey, we got lots get intotonight.
That's enough about that.
Enough about that.
Let's get into tonight here.
Aaron, how we doing tonight.
Aaron is with me tonight here.
Co-host the show.
Speaker 3 (01:56):
Aaron, how we doing
yeah, yeah, I can't complain,
man.
You got a lot going on in yourneck of the woods with that, but
uh, once again, congratulationsfor sure that's, that's big
lifetime, big life stuff, right, but yeah, we, uh, we're
starting to warm up a little bitover here, not as frigid I hope
you guys aren't as like iced no, we're just totally frozen.
You're kind of thawing out.
(02:16):
But yeah, you know not doing, not doing bad.
You know um nfl championshipweekend.
So exciting time of the year, exciting weekend, as always.
Speaker 2 (02:26):
It is frigid, cold
all the time.
Today.
I thought it was supposed to belike a high of 20 today.
Now it was negative 14.
When I woke up this morning 6o'clock, get off to work, it was
absolutely terrible.
So that's how the day started.
That's how the day started.
It was just one of those daysWent to work, got some stuff
done, had the vaccine talk aboutwith radio guys, had the
(02:48):
vaccine talk.
It was great.
It was all good, all good.
There had some sushi from quittrip.
Love quit trip.
So I don't think this is a disswhen I say this.
I got some sushi at quit trip.
Okay, and I know what people arethinking.
Right, why do you get gasstation sushi?
I'm fine with it.
Like, I don't hate gas stationsushi, I love quit trip.
I love their.
I love their sushi.
I had to have there.
(03:08):
The only problem was is this oneI feel like just came off the
truck because it is rock solid?
I was sitting here and aaronand I were talking before the
show.
Here we're kind of gettingeverything situated and figured
out and I went to go bite intowhat I'm like this is hard as a
rock.
Like I can't do this, like areyou kidding me right now?
So sushi's off to the side.
I'm thinking about putting.
I gotta get a little microwaveor heater down here or something
(03:30):
to warm them babies up, butright now a little too solid, a
little too solid to eat there.
But, aaron, we got lots to getinto tonight here, so let's get
on with it.
The this is the greatest thingthat could have happened to the
packers bears rivalry.
This is the greatest thing thatcould have happened to the
Packers-Bears rivalry.
This is the greatest thing.
Ben Johnson hired recently hired, and I thought it was a great
(03:50):
hire for the Bears.
He's a great offensive mind, great offensive mind to bring
into that system.
Try to help out Cale Williamsright now.
Ben Johnson gave us the mostbizarre, the most.
I don't even know what to makeof the comments that he made.
So they asked him about youknow they're just talking to him
, asking about some of thequestions.
(04:11):
You know talking to him aboutthe NFC North and everything
like that.
He said he wanted to stay inthe division because of how good
the division was, the NFC North, and he said Dan Campbell and
Kevin O'Connell, those are greatcoaches there.
He said they're great coachesand you know they one of them is
going to be up for player ofthe year or coach of the year.
The other one could be right upthere with him and Kevin
O'Connell.
And then he came to Matt LaFleurand he goes and, to be quite
(04:34):
frank with you, I kind ofenjoyed beating Matt LaFleur
twice a year.
Now, aaron, I can be honestwith you.
So when I hear that it's like, okay, right, you're trying to be
that Bears guy, right, you'retrying to be that Bears guy,
you're trying to meet the fansquota, at that point and I get
that, right, you want to get thefans all riled up.
Oh, yeah, ben Johnson's coming.
(04:55):
He's going to be the saviorthat come down here and fix us,
just like Eber Flus and justlike everybody before that.
Right, but this is the odd part.
This is the odd part for me.
Matt LaFleur and Ben Johnsonaren't friends.
They don't know each other.
They know of each other.
They're not friends.
They weren't coworkers, theydidn't work together back in the
(05:17):
day.
Nothing, nothing.
You cross-reference these guys.
Their paths have never crossed.
And yet this felt like a commentand I don't know if it's just
me, but this felt like a comment.
Like, aaron, you're gonna gocoach the uh or no, let's just
go, aaron, you're gonna go coachthe the eagles and I'm gonna go
up there and coach the packers.
I'll be one of the assistantcoaches, right.
And you're like I can't wait tobeat trajan up.
(05:39):
I can't wait to beat trage, right, can't wait to beat him up
there.
Like we talked here, we're goodfriends.
Like we're good, right, makessense.
They're not friends.
Low, blow beneath the belt,disrespect.
Tell them how it is.
And if this doesn't irk MattLaFleur, if this doesn't just
(06:00):
piss him off, because to me thiswould just tick me off this
would get me riled up like let'sgo, you want to play, let's
play.
All right, boys, I don't careif we lose all the games, but
two next year I want to beat thebears twice.
I said that.
Right, when I heard thatcomment I was like I don't.
I looked at my co-worker.
We're sitting in the vanlistening to bill michaels.
Looked at my co-worker.
(06:20):
I was like I don't care if thepackers win all, but they win
two games next year.
I don't care if the Packers winall but they win two games next
year.
I don't care If it's againstthe Bears, that's all that
matters to me.
Just because of that, justbecause of this silly, I don't
even understand the comment,honestly.
Like it was like a friendly, like you're trying to make a
friendly joke I don't know ifyou're trying to make a friendly
joke Like this was a joke thatif Ben Johnson would have made
(06:41):
it at Dan Campbell, okay, I getit.
If Aaron Glenn would havestayed in the division and he
said, oh, I can't wait to beatAaron Glenn, sure that makes
sense.
But to say essentially that DanCampbell and Kevin O'Connell
those guys, two guys are up forcoach of the year.
They're up for coach of theyear, but I just love beating
(07:05):
Matt LaFleur twice.
That leads me to anotherquestion, aaron.
It almost feels like there's norespect for Matt LaFleur, no
respect, and I got to be quitehonest, I don't think he's
earned the respect I don't thinkhe has yet.
Yeah, you won games, sure, sureyou win a lot of games.
That's awesome, right.
(07:26):
But what's going to happen ifLions fans ask Lions fans what's
going to happen if you justhave continuous you know,
divisional round losses?
They're going to get upset.
They're going to start losingtheir minds.
Look at the Packers.
What did they do with AaronRodgers when Matt LaFleur got
there there.
It looked good in the regularseason.
They got into the playoffs.
(07:46):
They made it to the nfcchampionship game fell apart.
Matt lafleur could not get themover that next hump.
He couldn't beat those bettercoaches, right, shanahan, mcfay,
all them.
He cannot beat them.
He cannot beat them in thebiggest moments.
So ben johns is just like hey, I, I don't, I don't respect this
guy.
It almost feels like that, likewhen you say comments like that
I don't respect this guy.
It almost feels like that Likewhen you say comments like that
(08:07):
you don't respect this guy, youdon't, you don't care.
Like yeah, he's, he's a goodcoach, it's not great coach,
he's not great, he's not overthe top.
And I think honestly, if youasked a lot of coaches out there
, they'd probably say that youknow, I Sirianni.
To me I feel like he's kind ofin that same boat too sometimes,
where it's like I don't feellike a lot of coaches respect
(08:29):
Sirianni.
He's got all the outside noisewith him and you know other guys
out there Dable, you got Dableout there.
But then you look at therespected coaches, right?
Ain't nobody saying that aboutMike Tomlin?
Ain't nobody saying that aboutJohn Harbaugh, jim Harbaugh.
Nobody's saying that about JohnHarbaugh, jim Harbaugh,
nobody's saying that about SeanPayton.
I guarantee it they're nottalking about him.
And nobody's going to say thatabout Pete Carroll, who for some
(08:50):
reason is getting signed backwith the Raiders there.
That one.
But nobody's saying thosethings about those coaches.
Nobody's saying anything aboutDan Campbell, right?
Or even Gavin O'Connell or MattLaFleur.
I don't know.
Aaron, I want to hear youropinion.
I want to hear your opinion onthat one.
What do you think about that?
When you hear that and you hearI get, it's a Bears thing,
(09:12):
right, and he wanted to get hisfans riled up.
But this is an adversary, right, this is an opposing coach and
most of these coaches don't tryto pick fights.
But this felt like a low blowto me.
This felt like one of them lowblow shots that you're like yeah
, I like beating it twice a year, buddy.
Yeah, you kind of stay.
Stay down there.
Speaker 3 (09:33):
Absolutely.
I mean, there's so many, somany different directions.
I could go with this Like.
When I first heard this, too, Iwas like, I was perplexed man.
I was like, first of all, thefirst thing that came to my mind
was like um, not to, you know, judge a book by its cover, and
stuff like that.
But I'm watching ben johnson, you know, walking around this
this bears, you know, this wholethis building.
I guess it's a stadium, right,he's just like in the hallway,
(09:55):
though, and he, he just actslike this.
He's walking around.
He's like bill belichick orsomething I just get this
mesmerized he's mesmerizedwalking around.
Speaker 2 (10:03):
Like.
This thing's a dump.
This is a toilet seat sittingnext to a Lake right now, and
you're acting like you'remesmerized walking in here.
Speaker 3 (10:11):
I almost, I almost
got the impression like, oh, I'm
Ben Johnson, I'm the best thingand I, I just got this, like,
yeah, now I'm rooting againstthe guy I don't know and now I
sound like you know, acheesehead through and through,
because I'm like anti-Bears, ascan be.
But I'm like, look man, you'venever been a head coach in this
league.
Like I can appreciate what youdid, you know, in Detroit there
(10:33):
and you've done good things.
But to take a shot at a guywho's, I mean like you know,
we're not going to say MattLaFleur is an elite coach, right
, but we're going to say, youknow, he's won playoff games.
I mean, he had them, you know, very competitive against the
49ers, you know, a season ago,who went to the Super Bowl, you
know, out of the NFC there.
So I just Ben Johnson, to meyou're stirring the pot already
(10:57):
Like you haven't even likecoached, you know you haven't
been a head coach for a gameright, a head coach for for a
game right.
And you're already like, ah,this Matt LaFleur guy, I'm
better than him, like that'swhat I got the vibe, that like
I'm better than you.
And it's like, hey, buddy, youknow Dan Campbell was the one
manning the ship there inDetroit, not you.
That's what I would say.
Like until you've, I'm notgonna say he's gonna be a bad
(11:19):
coach, he's gonna be a goodcoach, we don't know.
But I mean, you talk about likethat's almost like a Rex Ryan
approach, like I'm just going totake shots as soon as I can
because I'm the man I'm feelingmyself.
You know, I just woke up on theright side of the bed Like I
just that rubs me the wrong way.
And you know we cut up MattLaFleur.
You know plenty on the show.
That's not something we'regoing to hide.
(11:39):
But, man, with all due respect,I would say Ben Johnson, if I'm
Matt LaFleur, I'd probably justlet it go because you don't
want to give them bulletin boardmaterial.
But I would almost be thinking,if I'm Matt LaFleur, I'm like
who is this guy Really?
Who is this guy?
I mean come on.
Speaker 2 (11:56):
I love it for the
Packers.
I do because of what you justsaid Bulletin board material.
You take that baby Just like.
And they said it perfectly.
After the Vikings and Lionsgame.
After the game, dan Campbell, kevin O'Connell, came out.
They met each other at thecenter of the field and Dan
Campbell said see you in twoweeks.
That's what he told them.
(12:16):
The Rams, immediately afterthat, took that picture, slapped
it up in the locker room andsaid this is what was said.
And the Rams went out there andthey beat the Vikings and they
took care of their business.
And that's what I want to seeMatt LaFleur do.
(12:36):
I want him to take receipts.
Dan Campbell went into this lastseason and his exact words were
he had games circled on thecalendar and he said those are
the games I can't wait for.
And we knew one of them wasGreen Bay and we knew there was
some other ones on that list, probably the 49ers, probably
some other ones that he got feltlike they were embarrassed the
Dallas Cowboys.
With that two point conversionhe was going to make sure they
annihilated them down there,right?
This is what I want out of MattLaFleur.
(12:57):
I want you to find whatever youcan to get the boys up, get
them going right.
Take can to get the boys up,get them going right.
Take this and say hey, you guys, are my boys right?
This is what he had to say.
This is what he had to say.
He loves beating us twice ayear.
Take it to him.
Go down to that toilet bowl inchicago, there, where nobody
wants to play.
Go down there and light them upand that's all you need.
(13:19):
Sometimes that's all you need.
You just need to jack the boysup.
This is it, and I love it.
I love it.
I want the feuds.
I do.
Lovey smith had that.
He said his number one goalwhen he came into um, the bears
there was to beat green bay.
So it's just ben johnson tryingto steal a punchline, I guess,
essentially.
But there there's no love there.
There's no love there betweenben johnson and matt lafleur.
(13:41):
These two don't know each other, they don't't care.
You know, like we saw Eber Flusand Matt LaFleur I believe they
were up at a Marquettebasketball game and they were
sitting courtside next to eachother, like that.
That was weird, but like he gotover it, he understood it, I
guess.
Now it's like I don'tunderstand this one.
No, no, no.
We don't like.
I can't wait.
I can't wait for Packers-Bearsnow, because that, if it's not
(14:04):
cinema, should be cinema.
Matt LaFleur's got to put thatbaby up on there like bulletin
board material and let his teamhave it, because if you can't
get the boys up after that, Idon't know what it is.
Speaker 3 (14:15):
I don't know what you
can do I just look at it like
where I mean, like I get, ifthey weren't rivals, I would
really, you know, scratch myhead on this one.
Speaker 1 (14:23):
That's the only thing
.
Speaker 3 (14:24):
That's the only thing
I can point to is like, hey,
you know, let's get the Chicagofan base hype, let's build the
hype for the rivalry, like this, that and the third with that.
But I really, truly believe, like he, ben Johnson's in over
his head a little bit on thisCause, you know he, that team
finished fourth in the divisionthis year, you know, albeit
fourth in the division this year, you know, albeit with
Ibraflues, whatever.
But we don't know if BenJohnson can be a head coach.
(14:46):
We don't know.
That that's the thing.
And now you're already like, okay, I have respect for the
Vikings coach, right, I haverespect for Dan Campbell, right,
like you know.
But Matt LaFleur, the Packers, like I don't care, it's almost
like he's chalking it up to like, well, we'll beat them the two
games, we see them next year.
Like they haven't even played agame yet with him as the head
(15:08):
coach, like that's bold man.
And I got to say, like the wayhe was just carrying himself
there in the Bears, you know, facility Bears Stadium, whatever
it might be there, I just Idon't know man.
Like I don't know man.
Like you're real confident andyou haven't coached one game, I
get you were a coordinator.
You saw Dan Campbell do it,doesn't?
I mean?
(15:29):
Look how many guys from theBelichick tree tried to do it.
Couldn't do it, you know, Ijust I don't know.
Speaker 2 (15:35):
He didn't feel to me,
didn't feel like a coach who
just lost in a game.
No God kind of lit up, like hedidn't feel like that.
He almost looked like he didsome smelling salts in the car
and then walked in the door likehe was at willy wonka's
chocolate factory and ate thewrong chocolate off the ground
(15:57):
and now he was seeing stuff andfloating around like that's it
was.
It was odd, like it was.
It was very, he's, veryenergetic.
I'll give him that.
Like I was watching him on thesideline, I thought he was like
a more mellowed out kind ofperson.
Maybe got a little hostileevery once in a while, but more
mellowed out.
And then watching him in thatpress conference and watching
him talk to everybody, like hegets, he gets out there, he gets
(16:19):
out there.
I mean I'm not.
I'm not hoping that the guyfails, because I hate to say
that I hope that guys fail.
I really do.
But he's a coach of the Bearsnow and the Bears they just suck
, they just suck.
So welcome to mediocrity, man.
Welcome to mediocrity.
You should have stayed with theLions.
If you would have stayed withthe Lions, you had a fighting
shot.
Now you're with the Bears.
Good luck to you.
Speaker 3 (16:40):
And two things to
that.
He got his payday right.
So this was like I'm sure hewas feeling himself.
I mean, he might have boughthimself a Mercedes or something.
You know just something, right, like the guy was.
Just, you know, the way he wasacting was just a little odd to
me.
But, like you said, energeticenergetic's a good word, right
To not be, to not be negativeand taking hits on him.
But the only other thing is,like Craig Council, right, right
, I can kind of different story.
(17:02):
You know just different way ofgoing about it.
Right, but you know you were afriend.
You know I guess you don'treally consider the lions your
friends, right, but you're notlike I can't stand them.
Now you go to the arch rival.
Speaker 2 (17:13):
I can't stand you,
like that's fair to say you know
, you just went from beinglikable to hateable within a
couple days, like that's whatyou did.
That's what you did there.
So I mean, if it would havewent to the cowboys, I wouldn't,
I wouldn't have cared.
But now we're a bear fan there.
So all right, we'll see whathappens.
We'll see what happens.
But ben johnson and mattlafleur hopefully the feud is on
, hopefully matt lafleur doesanswer.
(17:34):
He's like hey, buddy, yeah, yougot like three wins in the last
20 attempts there in chicago.
So like, bring it on any day ofthe week.
I got a good record against you.
Maybe I don't against the Lionsright now, but I got a good
record against the Bears.
So shut up.
All right, just shut up.
Speaker 1 (17:47):
We got to get to an
ad break.
Speaker 2 (17:49):
We're going to come
back.
We got lots to get into.
Yeah, we're going to talk alittle about basketball because
they got Nebraska coming to townhere on Sunday, so we want to
talk about that game.
We got more Packer talk to getinto later out there.
Make sure you're commenting andlet us know what you think and
everything like that as we goalong here, so we'll see you
guys on the other side this showis brought to you by these
fantastic sponsors, pittsvillefarm and home center.
Speaker 1 (18:10):
At the store they
serve you anything from
hydraulic hoses to red roses.
Stop in see the awesome crew atpittsville farm and home center
in pittsville.
Next we have sport and spinelyin Onalaska.
Do you have a sports club orteam?
(18:37):
Are you looking for some sweetcustom uniforms or apparel?
Check out the awesome crew atGame Day.
Supply in on alaska to helpyour team get the sweetest gear
sweet gear indeed.
Speaker 2 (18:50):
I got the t-shirt on
tonight, right now.
I got the t-shirt on over here.
You gotta check that baby out.
They got lots of good stuffdown there for all your sporting
needs.
Check out game day supply.
So we got lots to get into.
I want to get to the badgers, though, because the badgers have
a big one coming up hereagainst nebraska.
That that game's interestingfor me.
We got a little special guycoming back to madison there,
(19:14):
and that guy is the name ofconnor.
Assision is on his way back.
You know, connor went throughhis time in madison.
I liked him, I really did.
I thought he had a lot ofpromise to be a very good
shooter for the Badgers.
It's just his defense it neverfit the bill, and Greg guard
didn't give him the playing time, didn't feel like he earned the
playing time, and I I saw it, Idid.
(19:35):
I loved the scoring.
There was times last year whereI said to myself nobody else is
playing defense, so why are wepenalizing Connor for not
playing defense at this point?
We need more offense, thisdefense.
So why are we penalizing Connorfor not playing defense at this
point?
We need more offense, thissystem.
I feel like he would have fit alittle bit better into, but I
feel like on the defensive endhe would not have improved the
Badgers at all.
So I think that was his biggestdownfall and it continues to be
his biggest downfall, with evenNebraska, their scoring.
(19:56):
Scoring's never been an issue.
So anybody who wants to saythat scoring is a problem,
scoring has never been an issuefor Connoror Esiason.
It will continuously be defense.
That's what you got to say.
It'll continuously be defense.
And it's not to the point wherehe was almost.
I mean, at times I don't wantto say a liability, but a
liability on the defensive end.
(20:17):
And that's what lost a lot ofpeople and that's what lost Greg
Gard.
It wasn't to the fact of hecouldn't do it, it was just to
the fact of he couldn't do it,it was just to the fact of he
wasn't efficient on thedefensive end at all.
And that's what kind of lost alot of Badger fans and lost Greg
Gard's faith in him there.
But it's going to be interestingbecause I don't feel like a lot
of Badger fans are lost on him.
They don't hate him.
There's some guys where theyleave, like if AJ Storr came
(20:42):
back to Wisconsin playing forKansas.
Now he sucks at Kansas but hecame back and played Wisconsin
Like I would give him thebusiness If I was in the crowd I
would give him all the businessand then some.
Because he took like millionsof dollars to go suck at Kansas
when he could have taken less toplay at Wisconsin and, you know
, fulfill and probably be betterset for the NBA right now he's.
Actually, I would say if youhonestly look at his stats, from
what he did last year to thisyear, he's hurting himself at
(21:05):
Kansas and it actually sucks.
Because I liked him up untilFebruary when I heard that he
was basically one foot out thedoor already and the season
wasn't even over and the Badgerswere still on a pretty good
path to make the NCAA tournamentmake a good run in the NCAA
tournament and he was alreadygone.
He was done.
He was done with Wisconsin.
So that's the crappy part aboutthe ncaa now that's the crap
(21:27):
about it all.
But connor season just didn'tget to playing time in madison,
so he had one foot out the door.
He left, went to nebraska.
There he's been getting a lotmore time but the defense is
still not there.
But not a lot of hate, right?
John blackwell said that that'smy guy for life.
I'm proud of him.
When he's talking about connorseason greg guard.
He was asked about Connor'sseason.
He said there's a lot of thingshe's seen this season on tape
(21:48):
that he's seen in the past.
Said a season has benefitedfrom flanked by guards Bryce
Williams and Juwan Gary, bothfantastic guards.
We're going to talk about them, but that's been a lot.
He also went on to say you know, talking about what they've
been doing with him in Nebraskawas a lot of the similar stuff
that Greg Gard's been runningfor him in Madison.
So you're starting to see alittle translation there.
(22:10):
Greg Gard's like I got you, Isee what you're doing, I know
what you want to do.
I'm going to shut that crapdown.
We hope that he's right there.
We'll see what kind of happensthere.
We know Connor's a good shooterright.
I want to get some of the keyplayers in this game for
Nebraska First off.
Bryce Williams that's the guyyou got to talk about all the
time, the senior guard there 18and a half points per game, 47%
from the field and he's gotabout two and a half assists on
(22:33):
the season so far.
So he shares the basketballwell, and that 37% from downtown
not a bad percentage at all.
So I mean Bryce Williams he'sour leading scorer for a reason
Fantastic guard, senior guardthere.
A lot of experience in thatbackcourt for him.
Juwan Gary, the 6'6 forwardthere plays a little bit of I'm
going to get onto it here but heplays a little bit of the
forward, but he also gets intothe wing spot too.
So he's a very versatile guardand we're going to talk about
(22:55):
that here.
But he averages 12 and a halfpoints per game there.
Four and a half rebounds 47%,42.7% from the field.
On the season there for JuwanGary.
So he's been fantastic for himon the season there for Juwan
Gary.
So he's been fantastic for him.
Conner's season that's where Iwant to get to.
Six foot four guard there 11and a half points per game, 43%
from the field and 41% fromdowntown.
So Conner's been shooting itwell on this young season here.
(23:17):
And then Raleigh Worcester Nowyou look at the numbers, he's
not in the top four in pointsper game.
I didn't care about the fourthguy there, raleigh Worcester.
He's like I'm trying to thinkhe's like your max classmate and
he has the potential to be agame wrecker.
So that's why I added him ontomy key players in this game for
(23:39):
Nebraska.
He's a gamer.
He gets down and dirty, he getsinto the lane, he's going to do
the dirty work.
He's a guard there.
A 6'5 guard Averages abouteight points per game.
But he's a guy where you've gotto keep an eye on him.
He shares the basketball.
It's 2.8 assists per game.
He shares the basketball well.
But what I love about him, whatI'm going to hate about him, is
(23:59):
his ability to get down andplay dirty and get to the rack.
So that's something Badgershave to keep an eye on.
With him and Riley Woesterthere as a team, 33% from three,
46% from the field on theseason.
There they're about 75% fromthe line.
Not great, not terrible 12.2turnovers per game.
So you know you can turn themover a little bit.
So that's something to keep aneye on there for the Badgers 2.8
(24:24):
blocks and eight steals.
So the Badgers in this one herethe turnover battle is going to
be a big thing to watch out forthere.
Because the Badgers against UCLAyou want to talk about what
lost in the game.
I know everybody's like oh, itwas the officiating.
It was the officiating and Ieven yelled about the
officiating because it did suck.
But turnovers 13-7.
You're not going to win manygames when you turn the
basketball over 13 times In atwo-point game or a one-point.
(24:49):
That's the difference.
That is.
The major difference is 13turnovers.
You cannot get into that there.
Um, looking over at some of thekeys to the games, key to the
game for the badgers here, I'mlooking at number one, aaron.
We always talk about it, we sayit constantly get to the free
throw line, get to the freethrow line.
When you get to the free throwline, you win it at charity
stripe.
There ain't many teams that aregonna beat you.
Right now, badgers one of the,if not the best, free throw
shooting team in the country andthey continue to prove that
(25:09):
night in and night out there.
Get to the free throw line, force the issue, take it to the
rim, don't settle.
I hate and I hate it and I talkabout it all the time.
I hate when the Badgers get bigleads, like against Ohio State
and USC, but also for shots.
Don't settle for shots.
The three point why it's openis because they want you to
shoot that shot.
It's a low percentage.
They don't want you to get itto the rack, force the issue get
(25:35):
downhill.
That's when John Tonje and JohnBlackwell are at their best,
when they're getting to the rim.
Even Max Klezma we talked abouthis big game there against USC,
where it's like, oh my gosh, hecame back to the season.
Here he's finally back.
Max Klezma was getting downhilland he was getting to the rim
there.
So that's something that yougot to see here against Nebraska
UCLA.
They came out once again andthey were flat.
They came out flat, they wereturning the ball over and they
didn't play physical.
Ucla matched the physicalityand they gave him another one,
(25:57):
right, greg Gard spoke on it.
He's like we knew that theywere going to come out physical.
They play a brand of Big Tenbasketball and we're used to
that, yet you didn't play thatphysical brand back at him.
Nebraska's gonna play physical.
Can you get physical with them?
Can you get physical right backat him?
That's what we got to see.
It's at your house, right?
It's at the Kohl Center.
Can you get back after him?
So that's something I'mwatching for in this one here.
It's the physicality of theBadgers there winning the paint,
(26:21):
both scoring and rebounding.
You got to win the reboundingbattle in this one and win it in
the paint.
That means get it to the bigfella, get it to Crowell right.
When the Badgers have won thesegames, crowell's going for 10
plus, that's for sure.
When the Badgers lose, crowell's under 10.
You got to get Crowell involved, because not only Crowell's
scoring the basketball, butCrowell's sharing the basketball
(26:42):
Inside out.
Work it through the big fella, let him kick it back out.
Find cutters.
That's when the Badgers are attheir best.
So I'm working inside out tofind the Badgers in this one.
Chase those three-pointers offthe line, connor Acesian, make
him try to beat you off thedribble.
You got to stop the penetration, though, because you cannot
expect Stephen Crowell, nolanWinter, to step out there.
The Badgers do not block shots.
They're a terrible team forblocking shots.
(27:03):
I don't know why you got twoseven footers.
You would think you'd have apretty good shot at blocking
some shots.
They don't.
They suck at blocking shots.
They always have.
So they have zero rimprotection.
You've got to slow down thepenetration there.
So if you are on the ISO likeJohn Blackwell, you're out there
on Bryce Williams, or you gotJohn Tonje out there, you got
Max Glesman.
You got to win your one-on-ones.
You got to and try to chasethem off against UCLA.
(27:27):
They had trouble getting back toshooters.
That was something that I wetalked about the other day.
There was the rotation of theBadgers getting back out to
three point shooters.
I thought they were look lostat times.
There were too much ballwatching.
They weren't finding their guys.
So that's something in thisgame.
You have a lot of good threepoint shooters, a lot of good
three point shooters for this uh, uh Nebraska team.
(27:48):
Here Bryce Williams can knocksome down, so can Juwan.
Juwan can knock down a few ifhe gets going there.
Worcester doesn't shoot a lot.
Actually I think he's got likezero.
He's maybe zero over the pastlike five games that he's shot.
So he's not a very big uhthree-point uh artist there.
And then we got Connor season.
We know he can light it up fromthere.
So you gotta keep an eye on thethree-point shooters for
Nebraska there.
You know Greg Gard spoke on thatafter that game there.
(28:11):
He said uh, let's see here whatdo you have to say?
Uw got too spread out anddidn't give enough help and
followed too much.
So he's talking about the foulsthere against uh UCLA there
down the stretch at UCLA,especially against Sebastian
Mack, and then the Badgers live.
They weren't aggressive enoughat the point of attack.
So the bigs weren't aggressiveenough there for the Badgers and
(28:33):
I would agree with that.
I would agree with that 100%.
And that's that's getting intothis one.
Like I said, matching thephysicality and then some
against this team and trying tokeep them out.
Try to keep them off thedribble right, force them, force
them out back out on theperimeter, force him towards the
sideline.
Whatever you got to do,sebastian Mack will say he was
able to beat John Blackwell offthe dribble and that's where
John Blackwell ran into problems, because then he was in a
(28:55):
vulnerable position and that'swhere the fouls are coming from.
So it's getting that penstopping.
The penetration is going to bebig for the Badgers in this one
here.
Force the issue, create theturnovers I talked about it
earlier 12.2 turnovers per game.
You got to be able to forceturnovers in this one here and
then expect to see a lot of fourguard looks.
That's what I was going tomention there with John Gary
earlier on.
They're not afraid to switchhim down into the four, so
(29:18):
there'll be running a four guardlook.
So with that, I expect a lot ofKamari McGee I know we've
mentioned it a lot Nolan winternot getting a lot of playing
time.
More Steven Crowell I expect arotation of those two guys.
If Nebraska goes to that fourguard look, I expect to see a
lot more Kamari McGee and a lotless of the two big look for
Wisconsin, just because youwon't be able to match the speed
of what Nebraska has out there.
(29:38):
So that's something I'm lookingat in this one.
We did have some quotes, didhave some quotes off of the last
press conference.
The Badgers had there JohnTonje talking about defensive
mistakes.
Defense is our first focus forbig games.
If you can fix some of thosemistakes and correct some of
those things with effort, theoffense will take care of itself
.
That's 100%.
Look at the offense for theBadgers 80-plus points per game.
(30:00):
Yeah, it's hard to beat a teamthat scores 80-plus points per
game unless if their defensedoes not match physicality night
in and night out, and that'sthe problem with the badgers in
these losses.
So that's something I'm lookingat.
Greg guard said wisconsinplaying faster on offense has
already helped the badgers inrecruiting.
So he's talking about therecruiting aspect of it there.
He said this is appealing wayto play.
It's smart, not wild.
(30:21):
You have to uh, bigs that canshoot, those are larger than
average and we're talking to.
It's an appealing way to play.
I agree with that.
100 you gotta if, if you canplay fast, if you can play an
nba brand of basketball, you'regonna attract a lot of, a lot of
athletes, a lot of athletes.
And I think that was a bigproblem with a lot of the talent
that left in state, like, um,tyler harrell back in the day.
(30:43):
There jalen johnson left thestate.
I'll try to think of who is.
Who is out at duke right now.
Um, aaron, you're gonna have tolook just who the heck is out
at.
Oh, canoople, con canoople, that's what his name is there
out at duke, there wisconsin guyjust didn't fit the fold in
madison there just because theydon't run that style and
hopefully this will attract thattalent there, like greg guard
is saying uh, greg guard went onto the objective is to win
(31:06):
games.
How do you win games?
You have to stay old and mature.
We're in a different era wherestaying old comes from different
sources.
Maturity wins, experience wins.
You have to make sure yourfreshmen understand that and I
agree with that.
I agree with that 100%.
Talking about, let's see herewe did okay, one last thing.
We got to hit an ad break.
But one last thing there theydid lose.
(31:27):
His name is Harun Zerno.
I don't know how to say thatname.
I'm glad he's not coming toWisconsin at the moment because
I don't know how to pronouncehis name, but he committed to
Indiana.
Now I don't know how longthat's going to last.
He's a very good shooter.
If you actually watch some ofhis highlights.
He's a very good shooter fromover in Bosnia Bosnia, sorry,
(31:53):
but very good shooter.
Um he, his finalists wereCreighton, virginia and
Wisconsin.
He just are in Indiana, ofcourse, but he chose Indiana.
I don't know how long that'sgonna last, though, because what
he or Mike Woodson is, I meanbasically out the door already,
because Indiana sucks.
So I I don't know.
I don't know if he's going tostay committed there or what's
going to happen on that side ofit, but we'll kind of wait and
see what happens there.
Aaron, is there anything elsethat you saw real fast here from
(32:14):
the Wisconsin-Nebraska game?
Speaker 3 (32:19):
Not so much.
I mean I think your point onand you can back me up on this
like getting Crowell and NolanWinter involved, I think that's
like key there.
I just feel like getting thebig guys involved.
And I mean I'm looking atWisconsin.
You know we've talked about alot of the Wisconsin games as of
late.
You know.
Just, you know, hanging out atthe three point line, I mean I
(32:39):
want to see them just dominatethat paint.
You know what I mean.
Just just take it to them, likeI truly obviously on paper
Wisconsin's I would say farbetter.
But you know, really come outand assert yourselves in the
paint early and just say likeyou know, try and stop us there,
like try, and you know we'regoing to force our will in the
like.
We have a.
It's almost like the NFL whenyou script the first 15 plays
(33:01):
right.
I want it.
I want them to script the pointof like forcing it in the paint
, like that's what I'm lookingfor there.
Speaker 2 (33:07):
Yeah, no, I agree.
I agree 100%.
You have to force the issue.
You cannot go away from thepost.
That's the biggest thing.
That's the biggest thing I hate.
Why I watch Wisconsin sometimesis they go away from that post
area.
You cannot go away from thepost, especially in a game where
you feel like you have thatsize advantage and especially in
a game when you're at home.
Don't lose the paint area.
(33:29):
You're not going to win it fromthe three-point line.
Yes, against ucla, you knockdown 15 of them.
It makes you feel good, right, you don't lose many games where
you knock down 15 threes, but alot of that's going to come from
inside out.
Work right, getting it intocorral, letting them kick out to
a shooter, finding an openingguy in the corner, whatever it
is, and knocking out a big shotthere.
So you got to keep the postinvolved because otherwise you
become one-dimensional.
You're so much easier to guardand that's what takes away from
the guard effect there.
That's what takes away JohnTonje, that's what takes away
(33:50):
Blackwell.
You're so much more easy.
You can be easily defended ifCrowell's not a factor, if you
don't have a big guy, who's afactor?
The thing that happens is iswhen Crowell gets going, when
they get a size advantage orCrowell gets going, you have a
double team that comes.
When that double team comes.
Crowell is fantastic at passingout of the double team, finding
the open shooter and then theyknock down shots.
(34:11):
So that's something that theBadgers definitely have to do in
this game here Right now.
Badgers favored right now by alarge margin.
I don't think it should be thatlarge of a margin.
I think this is a good team inNebraska here.
So we'll wait and see.
I mean, it's going to be a goodgame there on Sunday.
That's going to start at 12o'clock start on Big Ten Network
.
So I can't wait for that onecoming up on Sunday there.
But, aaron, we got one commenthere, zach.
(34:33):
Thank you, zach.
Zach, tc there Best podcast inthe state.
Thank you, thank you for thekind words there, zach.
We're going to get to an adbreak.
We're going to have the radioshow.
So we're getting used to the adbreaks here.
So we're going to have a quicklittle 10-second little break
here.
We're going to come back.
I want to talk some Packerswe're going to, you know, wrap
up the day here.
We got about a little bit lefthere we're going to wrap up the
(34:54):
day, but we'll see you guys onthe other side of the little
10-second here.
I I told you it'd be quick.
I told you it'd be quick.
I told you we'd be back.
That's what I had to tell youthere.
(35:14):
So we got lots to get.
I want to talk about somePackers stuff today because we
didn't get into it much theother day.
Kyle was on, kyle was on.
The other day.
We talked about the Bucs, wetalked about I mean we got into
just about everything but thePackers right.
So we talked about I mean wegot into just about everything
but the Packers, right.
So I want to get into thePackers today.
So Brian Gutekinds said in hispresser he said the team needs
(35:35):
to show more urgency.
That was the big thing.
He said the team needs to showmore urgency.
They need to show more urgency.
I agree.
But I think Brian Gutekindsneeds to show me more urgency
and I'll tell you why.
I'll tell you why.
Your window's open right now.
(35:55):
It's, it Window's open right.
Jordan Love's got a small caphit right now.
I know everybody looks at thecontract.
They're like, oh my, he'smaking 55 mil a year.
He's not.
The cap's not at 55 right now.
He's not making that, right,he's not actually a huge cap hit
quite yet.
You just got off of the deadmoney that was sitting there for
(36:15):
rogers and bach, so you'regetting some money now.
You have some money to spend, finally, right, finally some
money to spend the windows opennow.
You don't have time you don'thave.
Well, next year we can see whathappens.
Right, we talked about thatnumber one wide receiver
conversation, right?
Do you need one?
(36:36):
I don't feel like we have timeto sit stagnant.
I don't.
I don't feel like we have timeto say, well, we can see if it
works next year and then afterthat we can just, you know, see
if you see what happens, right,no, we can see if it works next
year and then after that we canjust see what happens.
No, we don't have time for that.
It's gone.
You have Jordan Love right now.
Until that contract gets bigger,it's going to get bigger
(36:56):
eventually.
You're going to keep deferringmoney and deferring money, but
at some point that money isgoing to come back and bite you
right in the behind.
It's going to get to you.
Jair Alexander's contract isgoing to come up.
You're going to have theseyoung guys, christian Watson and
Romeo Dobbs and Jaden Reed, dontavian Wicks, the defensive
linemen, some of the youngerguys, edrin Cooper, some of this
(37:18):
, evan Williams Not yet, but afew years down the road you're
going to have these guys come upand they're going to say, well,
we need our money, right, weneed our money, edrin Cooper,
I'm a star linebacker, like wethink he's going to be.
I need my money, right, you'regoing to have to pay him.
So the window's open right now.
So what are you going to dowith that window?
Right, and that's what I thinkBrian Gutekes needs to go into
(37:44):
this offseason saying and I,honestly, the draft's in Green
Bay right, and I'm excited, draft's in Green Bay, it's
awesome to see it's in Green BayLike I think it's going to be a
cool thing.
I don't care if we have afirst-round pick, I don't If the
Raiders tell us that, hey, yousend us your first-round pick
for this year and maybe like afourth or a third or a fourth or
(38:04):
something, and we'll give youMax Crosby.
Yep, no doubt.
No doubt in my mind, becausethis is what I'm going to say
your window's open right now.
Why waste your time?
And I'm not going to say it's awaste, right, because you can
go into the draft and you canfind an Eric Donald.
You could go in the draft andyou could find a Nick Bosa that
(38:25):
could develop into being the guy.
Right.
X Crosby's already the guy,he's already a dog.
If you can get a dog and justput him in there and just let
him run wild, why wouldn't youdo that?
Why would we waste our?
We got six guys who we're tryingto develop already, right, I
mean, rashawn Gary ain'tdeveloped all the way.
We saw it this last year.
He's got a lot of work to do.
(38:45):
Kenny Clark went away this lastyear.
You got Lucas Van Ness, who Imean he looks like Tarzan and
plays like Jane, as the greatBill Michaels would say.
I mean, we've got enough ofLucas Van Ness.
Brenton Cox he's a work inprogress.
Right, you look across there.
Tj Slayton if you bring himback, work in progress.
You have so many guys.
Devontae Wyatt still a work inprogress.
We have so many guys who arework in progress that we fire
(39:08):
the defensive lines coach andwe're trying to find a new one
at this point because he's soft.
So it's like, why not If theRaiders?
I'm making phone calls.
I'm calling the Browns and I'msaying, hey, I see you got Miles
Garrett.
What do you want for him?
What do you want for MilesGarrett?
What do you want for milesgarrett?
(39:30):
What do you want for max crosby?
Because we know max wants outmaybe not anymore.
I don't know what he wants.
If it see, the thing with it islike if they get sam darnold and
they spend all this moneybecause I know they have a
metric boatload, what is, aaron,if you can find the cap space
of each team for this nextseason I heard somebody talking
about it today and the cap spacefor each team, some of these
teams out there, it's like holy,I know the patriots had a
boatload and I know the raidershad a boatload, but I mean, if I
(39:52):
could get max crosby for afirst round pick, look at the
this one I would tell you look, let's look at good against his
first round picks over the yearsand you're gonna tell me which
one of these guys you're like.
Yes, sir, first round of the2018 draft Jair Alexander.
Speaker 3 (40:09):
Okay, if he was
healthy, yeah, that's the only
thing If he's healthy.
Speaker 2 (40:12):
So Right 2019,
Rashawn Gary Took him a while
but he kind of got back into itand then they had a second one
at Darnell Savage, but he's goneright 2020, Jordan Love.
Yeah, yeah, Jordan Love, youhope, you hope.
You know, Eric Stokes lookedlike he could be a hit and then
he got hurt and then he was justa dud and we saw it.
You know, we've been seeing it.
(40:33):
He's just not the same.
He was decent, but not the same.
Quay Walker that was your nextone.
You have Quay Walker andDevontae Wyatt in the 2022 draft
.
Quay Walker is a work inprogress, Devontae Wyatt when he
stays healthy.
He's a work in progress rightnow, but he was good, he was
solid, he's good enough, butboth them guys, if you could get
(40:54):
Max Crosby for the talent thatyou've been drafting so far, if
you could get Max Crosby forthat pick, yeah I don't
understand why you wouldn't makethat move.
That's the move.
That's the move you got to make, because I just, I just here,
I'm going to ask you a simplequestion, aaron you bring in Max
Crosby, right, first round pick, and let's just say a third
(41:17):
round pick or whatever, youbring in Max Crosby.
And then I know a lot of peoplearen't about it, right, but
okay, let's just hypotheticallysay I know some people are
looking at, like DK Metcalf, andsome people are looking at you
know, t Higgins, we got DevanteAdams out there.
Let's just say, to make peoplehappy for five seconds, we go
and get DK Metcalf, because somepeople don't want Devante, they
(41:38):
want DK Metcalf.
Let's say we go get DK Metcalf,for I don't know if he's
actually going to cost a lot, because I don't think the
Seahawks want him or need him, just because they have Najigba
in the area of Lockett and Idon't think that they want to
deal with it.
So let's just say you got afuture second round pick, maybe
in a third round pick or secondand a fourth I?
(42:02):
You just retooled your offensewith two proven guys.
If they can stay healthy whichwe knock on wood, right?
You hope so.
If they can stay healthy whichwe knock on wood, right?
You hope so.
If they can stay healthy.
You just upgraded your widereceiver room, which was a
problem, and you needed a numberone guy.
That's a number one guy.
And then you had a problem inthe pass rush.
You upgraded that you can grabcorners and safeties and
(42:24):
everything galore.
How many?
Honestly, I would love to seethe stat I don't know what the
stat is of the cornerbacks andsafeties that go in the first
round that are hits, because Iguarantee you there's not a lot
of them.
There's not a lot.
But if you look at the lateround guys, look at Evan
Williams.
He's a seventh round.
I believe he's a seventh rounddude, if I'm not mistaken.
Let's see here 2020, 2023.
(42:48):
I don't have that list in frontof me here.
Evan Williams, but he was laterrounds.
I know he was later rounds.
You got Evan Williams up therewhere he was drafted.
Speaker 3 (42:57):
Yeah, 111th.
Where was that at?
Let's see 111,.
Speaker 2 (43:03):
That'd be probably
like three.
Was that like three or four?
Speaker 3 (43:07):
Four, I want to say
four.
Yeah, let me see, here I'll getthe.
Speaker 2 (43:13):
But I'm just.
I look at the amount of guys.
Speaker 3 (43:16):
Fourth round.
Speaker 2 (43:16):
Fourth round.
Fourth round Look at EvanWilliams.
He was a star rookie safety foryou and he I mean health was a
problem, right, he kept gettingbanged up out there, but look
what he was able to do and hecame in the fourth round.
So you know, you can find thattalent.
We haven't found talent.
I mean, look at the talent poolthat we've been grabbing, even
in the second round.
Right, josh Jackson from Iowa, cornerback there.
(43:39):
That was a 2018 draft.
They're gone.
Actually, oren Brooks I believethat is the guy who made the hit
from the Eagles there.
I believe that's him.
I believe he was drafted by thePackers there back in 2018.
So they had him.
I mean, they drafted him up inthat third round.
But outside of that, you lookat the rest of these drafts and
(44:00):
you see Elton Jenkins.
That was a solid one.
I love Elton Jenkins.
And then I looked online AJDillon.
He's some people love him, somepeople hate him.
He's a good enough center.
He's not great.
Uh, let's see here christianwatson.
I love christian watson, buthealth's always been the problem
.
(44:20):
Where are you losing if youtrade away some picks here?
I just sometimes I wish goodywouldn't hold on to picks like
he's like on a death gripsometimes.
I wish he would just make amove trade it, trade it away,
get us a bona fide star, a bonafide star, somebody who you just
know is going to be that dude.
(44:42):
That's what I'm looking for.
We talked about it in theEagles game, right?
I told you straight point up.
I said they got a lot of guys, they don't got a lot of dudes.
You need to have a bunch ofdudes right, and they don't have
them guys, they don't havethose stars right, and that's
the biggest thing.
Like you, look at all theseteams right.
All these teams the bills, thecommanders, the eagles, the uh
(45:04):
chiefs right now.
Look at all the teams in thechampionship games coming up
this weekend.
They got stars on both sides ofthe ball.
They're stars right.
Chris jones and they got TravisKelsey and Patrick Mahomes.
You got Josh Halen.
You got I'm trying to think ofgolf Von Miller.
Speaker 3 (45:20):
Von.
Speaker 2 (45:20):
Miller right.
Speaker 3 (45:21):
Von Miller off the
defense there.
Speaker 2 (45:23):
You have Zach Vaughn,
you have AJ Brown and Saquon
Barkley.
You look at, jane Daniels hasbecome a star.
Scary Terry right, you gotScary Terry out there.
Defensive line for theCommanders has been playing well
.
I'm just going to give it tothe defensive line in total
because they've been playingwell so far.
But I mean, you look at themand guys step up to make those
plays.
(45:43):
The Packers did not have thatguy, right?
And that's where I look at thereceiver room and I'm like they
need a guy out there who, whenyou get to crunch time, is going
to step up and be the dude.
He's going to be the dude.
And they did not have that guy.
We were hoping guys would takethat next step.
We never saw it, never saw himtake that next step.
So now I look at it and I'mlike I know I was on the fence,
(46:04):
I know I was saying, well, wedon't really need one.
I'm hoping that these guys cantake that next step.
I'm hoping right, I'm done withthe hoping.
You got the money, you got thewillpower, you got the picks.
Trade them, find somebody, makeit work.
That's where we're looking here.
So we got a little bit morePacker talk to get to on the
other side of this break.
We got to hit a quick break.
We got to hit a quick break.
We're getting past our quotahere.
Right, we got to hit our quickbreak.
(46:25):
Come back, I want to get to ourpicks for the weekend.
I got one more question withthe Packers.
We're going to get to that.
We're going to get to our picksand then we're going to wrap it
up for the day.
So we'll see you guys on theother side of the ad break.
Speaker 1 (46:38):
This show is brought
to you by these fantastic
sponsors Marshfield MotorSpeedway, located three miles
outside of Marshfield on CountyRoad H.

great racing.
I cannot think of better way tospend a summer day or night
than down at the track.
Next is Sports Scene inMarshfield, wisconsin, located
(47:00):
at the Marshfield Mall.
Get down there and see Al.
He has everything you need fromsports cards, memorabilia,
jerseys, model stock cars.
He's got it all Sports Scene inMarshfield.
And then we have Peggy SueBeslick, century 21.
Do you want to find your dreamhome, or maybe looking to sell
your current property?
Let Peggy Sue Bestlick atCentury 21 help you with all of
your housing or property needsyou know what I always say,
(47:24):
aaron new year, buy, sell, getrid of that clunker.
Speaker 2 (47:26):
That's what you got
to do, peggy Sue, at Century 21.
So I got one more pack question.
I wanted to get to it the otherday because we had one across
the text in line the other daythere and I missed it.
We had just wrapped up the showand this text came across and I
was like, oh, we missed it.
We missed it there, so I wantto get into it tonight.
This one came from the 715.
(47:48):
Adam's coming back home.
Is he the number one?
So that was our question wetalked about before bringing in
that number one.
Bringing in a wide receiver,right, and I don't know.
Adams is old, right, he'sgetting older.
Is he the same guy?
No, but when I think ofbringing davante Adams in, I
(48:12):
think this wide receiver roomneeds experience.
They need an experienced guy inthere to help them out.
I think a lot of what theproblem was.
You look at the drops, right, and you look back to the drops.
I think the Packers were thirdin the league in drops this
season.
I think they had like 33, 33drops.
(48:33):
The only teams ahead of themwere the jets and the browns
with 40 and the browns had 48.
Speaker 1 (48:38):
Holy crap browns had
48 but packers had 33.
Speaker 2 (48:42):
You want to talk
about what loses football games
drops, and that comes from focus, that comes from preparation,
that comes from getting ready inand we talked about the other
day, right, and this is wherematt lafleur comes back into
play a little bit.
Right, it doesn't just happenon sundays and that's what I
think people get lost in.
They're like they suck onsunday.
(49:03):
No, no, no, no.
They're not getting prepared.
On wednesday through friday, wednesday through friday,
they're not getting enough.
They're not getting prepared tocome out on Sunday and start
fast to put a good game plantogether to get it off, to get
it off the ground running.
I don't believe that Wednesdaythrough that they're at their
best.
So that's where I come back tothis one and I'm like Devante
(49:26):
Adams comes in.
I don't think it's simply forthe fact of we needed number one
.
I still think we do.
I still think we do.
But I think Devante comes inand he's like okay, guys, this
is what I did to get better.
This is what I did, thank you,am I back?
Speaker 1 (50:26):
are we back?
Speaker 2 (50:27):
we're good, you're
good yeah, I don't know what the
heck happened there.
I don't know what the heckhappened.
I was losing you or you losingme, I don't know what the heck
was happening on our end there.
But, um, I look at davante andI'm like you bringing a guy like
davante for experience, that'swhat I would say I I wouldn't be
opposed to it.
I wouldn't be opposed to it atall, because I feel like they
have a lot of guys like wetalked about jayden reed we're
(50:48):
waiting for him to take the nextstep and a guy like don tavian
wicks or a guy like DontavionWicks or a guy like Romeo Dobbs
taking that next step.
I feel like a guy like DevontaeAdams being there because, like
I mentioned, you had Devontaewas in his youth when you had
Jordy, when you had Jordy in hisyouth, you had James Jones, you
had Donald Driver.
You were building these guys up, you were giving them an
(51:08):
experience room to learn from.
I think that's what thisPackers young core is missing is
that experienced guy to getthem over that hump.
So I wouldn't be opposed to it.
I wouldn't be opposed to it.
Does it bring in a bonafidenumber one?
No, does it bring in a passcatcher in the red zone?
Yes, and I think that's whatthe Packers could use as a pass
catcher in the red zone whocould get himself open.
So I wouldn't be opposed tothat there at all.
(51:29):
But, aaron, we got just a shortlittle time.
We got like a minute 30.
So we got to ramble these offfaster.
Let's go with the quick picks.
We got the quick picks here, aaron, give me your AFC champion
.
Give me the AFC champion rightnow.
We got Bills Chiefs.
That's going to be coming up on530 on January 26th, so that
will be on Sunday.
Speaker 3 (51:48):
That's going to be
the late game I got to go,
chiefs, I just think they'llfigure it out again.
They'll go for the thirdstraight time.
As much as it pains me to say,I think the Bills come up short
once again.
It feels like this could be theBills' year to get over the
hump, but just the Chiefs find away.
We can argue how, but they finda way.
So, unfortunately, I do thinkthe Chiefs pull that out.
Speaker 2 (52:10):
Give me the Bills,
give me the bills, give me the
bills.
I think they rattle it off.
They find a way.
Josh Allen gets over the humpand he finds a way, and they win
this one here.
Next up Eagles commanders NFConline.
Speaker 3 (52:22):
Yeah, not even saying
this Cause I'm I'm an Eagles
fan.
I think the Eagles do more.
I don't think Washington canstop the run um very well at all
, and and they haven't.
So I just think Saquon shouldhave a good day.
I think the passing game looksbetter this week, um, and I just
think the eagles defense isgoing to give jane daniels a lot
more complications than he hadagainst detroit um, albeit, you
(52:44):
know, I know, they were allbanged up.
So give me the eagles I.
I think it might be very close, though it's division, you know
division, rivals and, um, youknow, fc championships.
Speaker 2 (52:53):
So everything on the
line this is what I heard the
rams couldn't stop the run.
They couldn't stop the run.
They couldn't stop the run.
Guess what?
Jalen hurts has got to throwfor more than 128 yards to beat
the commanders.
That's all I'm going to tellyou right now, and this is what
I'm going to tell you right now.
If the commanders come out hot, like they did in that game
against the detroit lions, andif we have a guy in the name of
(53:15):
Jalen Hurts come out flat, likehe has the first two games of
this playoffs, it'll be a quickone and Jaden Daniels will walk
away and we'll be talking aboutthe best rookie season that we
have ever seen.
Out of any quarterback ever.
This might already be the bestrookie season we've already seen
out of any quarterback ever.
He might top it.
He might top it in this gamehere, because if Jalen Hurts
comes out flat in the passgame's non-factor, I don't care
(53:37):
about the run game, I don't care.
Saquon can only do so much.
If you can't throw the ball, they'll load the box.
They'll just load the box andthey'll wait for Saquon.
At some point they're going torun into a problem.
The Rams ran into a problem.
It was called the snow.
They weren't prepared for thesnow.
We saw that Three turnoversafter the snow started coming
down.
It was a disaster.
Outside of that, they shouldhave won that game.
(53:58):
They screwed themselves.
And the Packers?
We said the same thing aboutthe Packers.
The Packers had everyopportunity to win that football
game against the Eagles.
They just shot themselves inthe foot.
The Commanders I don't know man, that's a different ball club.
Jane Daniels is a differentbreed.
I don't care what kind ofpressure you bring at that man,
he just sees it and just like, brushes it off and hits his guy
(54:19):
Like.
It's uncanny how confident heis in the pocket.
I love to see it.
It's a talent.
Like, as a division in the NFCEast you're excited because
you're like, we have goodfootball again.
The commanders are going to begood.
They have a boatload of moneyto spend in the offseason there,
(54:40):
so they're going to load upthat.
All that team is going to bescary coming up here pretty soon
if jay daniels continues onthat trajectory.
So I got commander's bills.
The super bowl that everybodyin the united states of america
outside of philly fans and chieffans want to see is the bills
and the commanders.
And I saw the nfl put out athing that said that everybody
wants the chiefs to win.
That's you.
Shut up nobody nobody wants towin.
We're done with the chiefs there.
But, aaron, that's about all wegot.
(55:02):
That's about all we got fortoday.
It was a little quick littleshow here.
