SPEAKER_00 (00:00):
Spirit of truth, we
ask that you will teach all of
us.
I am just a vessel, I am just apencil, I am just an instrument,
but you are indeed the masterteacher, the master rabbi that
will teach all of us and openour hearts to be receptive, oh
God, and our minds to beattentive, to receive and
believe your word.
Lord, help us to delight in yourword, to treasure your word, to
value your word, oh God.
Because in your word we're ableto pray.
(00:22):
In your word, we're able tolearn about you.
In your word, we'll be able tolearn about certain things that
you want us to become, HeavenlyFather.
So give us our desire, O God.
Even as we leave this place tocontinue in your word, this we
ask in Jesus' precious, powerfulname, we have prayed.
Amen.
Um obviously we're all familiarwith this theme of humility.
It's all over the scripture fromthe Old Testament all the way
(00:43):
down to the New Testament.
It's it's a character trait thatis applicable in leadership, in
ministry, also in relationship.
You know, in relationship, because sometimes when spouses
are not humble to each other andthey allow pride to get in, it
really causes so much problem inrelationships.
So humility is a powerful traitthat is applicable actually in
(01:03):
every aspect of life.
And we see it's a key um traitin Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ actually penosifiedhumility and and and Satan
penosifies pride.
You see, the opposite ofhumility is pride, and we have
Jesus Christ who possesseshumility, and then we have Satan
who possesses pride, and as aresult of pride, Satan was
(01:25):
brought down, and as a result ofhumility, Jesus was brought up.
So let's let's just uh contrastbetween the Son of Man and the
devil when it comes to humilityand pride.
Um, what is humility?
Because for me, I like to sharethe definition of a word before
we um digest and um look look atmore details.
(01:45):
So humility from the scripturalreference is pretty much a very
simple term, it means low, lowlowness, lowliness of mind, uh
lowliness in posture, um, to belowly to be brought low.
You know, it means to beanything low.
Um, it could be lowliness ofmind, and also it's it's you
having a modest sense of yourown worth compared to God, you
(02:08):
know, you evaluating yourselfcompared to God, not compared to
other person, but compared toGod.
Because sometimes we tend to beproud um when we compare
ourselves to other people, youknow, because we have what they
don't have, you know, we aresmarter than them.
But when it comes to you andGod, there's no way you can be
proud before God.
That's why the Bible constantlytells us be humble before God,
(02:29):
be humble before God.
Because if you start coming toGod thinking that you're on the
same level as God, believing me,God is gonna reject you, we can
do that to each other, but notso with God.
That's why God immediatelyrejected Satan.
Because there's no way, humanlyspeaking, even as an angel, you
can compare yourself with God.
You must be you must be out ofyour mind.
So that's why the Bibleconstantly said when we come to
(02:51):
God, we should humble ourselves.
Because when we have that esteemof who we are compared to God,
we don't match up at all.
So, in that sense, when weapproach God, we have to be in a
in a in a humble state, meaningthat we have to lower ourselves
compared to God, we have toabase ourselves, we have to feel
like we're unworthy in the sightof God, which is actually true
compared to who God is, hisnature, his character, his
(03:14):
power.
There's no way, there's no way.
God is like an elephant, youguys were like an ant.
Even using the elephantdescription about God, it's just
it's even uh I can't evenimagine.
So, what is the nature ofhumility?
There, there are two componentsof humility that I've observed
is that um honesty actually umis the root of humility.
(03:35):
Honesty is the root of humilitybecause it's you telling the
truth about yourself.
So the root of humility ishonesty.
You being honest, honest aboutwho Brian is, who Tina is, who
Alice is, who Angel is, whoPastor Edith is, telling God
that God, this is who I am.
(03:57):
Telling God about your good, your bad, your beautiful and
your ugly.
Most times when you're anarrogant person, you only
present your good and yourbeautiful.
You know, you neglect yourugliness, you neglect your
badness.
Everybody has this fourcomponents beauty, beauty,
ugliness, bad, and good.
(04:18):
But when you're on an honestperson, you express everything
to God, and when you're asincere person, you'll be
transparent to let people knowthat hey, this is all about me,
this is the true nature of who Iam.
So honesty is indeed the root ofhumility, and the result of
humility is honor.
So humility does not diminishyour significance, even though,
(04:41):
yes, you're bringing yourselflow does not mean that you're
nothing.
Because most times people thinkthat people display outward
appearance of humility.
Oh, let me let me bow downbefore the minister, or let me
um pretend as if I'm nobody.
No, that's not the mindset ofhumility.
Humility is that you know yourworth, you know your position in
Christ Jesus, you know who youare, what you're capable of, but
(05:03):
you don't treat people as ifthey're nothing.
You don't treat people as ifthey're dogs, because they're
also made in the image andlikeness of God.
It's you know your worth, yourposition, the power that you
possess, the potential and thepurpose that you have, but you
also know the worth of the nextperson beside you.
So humility does not diminishyour significance.
Even though, yes, I said Istated yesterday that the two
(05:26):
components of humility are umsubmission and service, it does
not mean that you're less ofanything.
You're actually a man or a womanof power, you're actually a man
or woman of potential.
That's why you're serving.
Because those who serve havepotential, those who serve have
something to give, those whoserve have substance.
So those who don't serve don'treally have anything.
(05:47):
So when you when you when you'rehumble, you're saying that hey,
I have so much in me and I'mwilling to serve people, and
that's exactly what Jesus Christis.
He has so much in himself, hehas so much to give to the world
that he was willing to serve topour himself into us.
So, yeah, um, honesty and umhonor, these are um some of the
(06:07):
things that we can obtain fromfrom humility.
Let's look at some examples inthe Bible when it comes to
demonstration of this attitude, this mindset, this
characteristics of humility.
If you observe, because I lookedat the the book of um Genesis
all the way down to umChronicles, and I looked at
several men of God in the Biblefrom Abraham all the way down to
(06:30):
Solomon, and I I I I observedcertain statements that they
made, and and this statementactually is where I got the
definition of what humility is.
The first statement that Iobserve, this this is this is
this statement uh came fromAbraham in Genesis chapter 18,
verse 27.
I'm just gonna list all thestatements.
At least you guys can have thiswhen you have time.
(06:51):
You can go in your own Bibletime and and look at them.
Who am I?
Who am I?
That's an attitude of humility, that's a voice of humility.
Who am I?
Who am I?
I'm not worthy.
It is not in me.
Who am I?
Who am I?
I am a little child.
(07:12):
Who am I?
So all this statement of who Iam, who am I, so so much
reputation of who I am, and I'ma little child, it is not in me.
These are all statements fromservants of God, and these
servants of God are greatservants of God.
So humility is key to success.
(07:34):
Humility is key to greatness.
So when people tell you to behumble, God is telling you the
secret for success.
Really, the secret for successis not you going out there lying
on your resume, it's not yougoing out there trying to speak
well of yourself, it's not yougoing out there trying to climb
(07:55):
the ladder of success, treatingpeople anyhow, looking down on
people.
No, that will only get you thatfar.
But humility is one of the keysto success.
So, all of these men of God inthe Bible, they could they
questioned themselves, they werevery honest with themselves.
Who am I?
I am not worthy, it is not inme.
(08:19):
I am a little child.
When I looked at this statementfrom these uh several servants
of God (08:26):
Abraham, Moses, Jacob,
David, Solomon, these are all
great servants of God.
And I'm like, look at the kindof statement that you're making
concerning themselves, how theyesteem themselves before God.
So they were making thisstatement not before men,
(08:47):
because before men they aregreat.
Before you and I they are great, but before God, if you don't
humble yourself before God, Godwill bring you down.
That's what the Bible says whenwe get to heaven, we will have
crowns.
But what's gonna when we arerewarded with our crowns, we're
gonna lay down our crowns beforethe one on the throne and before
the Lamb of God.
(09:08):
And the reason why we are layingdown our crowns so that we don't
become cocky like the devil, thinking that now we can replace
God, thinking that now we areGod.
That's what we have to lay downas a sign of submission,
service, as a sign of humility.
Like I said, humility, theactual word means to bring low,
to bring down.
(09:29):
So we have to lay our crown ofgreatness, our crown of victory,
our crown of power when we're inheaven.
We have to lay it down beforethe king of kings, before the
Lord of Lords.
So these great men of God in theBible, they were making this
type of statement in thepresence of God, before God,
(09:50):
comparing themselves before God,esteeming themselves before God,
not before men, because theyknow their worth.
But when it comes to God, theyhave no choice but to humble
themselves, theiraccomplishment, their grace,
their gift, their anointing.
They cannot they cannot tellGod, God, you know what?
I've attained this level ofsuccess, I've attained this
(10:11):
level of success in ministry asa result of my own merit, as a
result of my own hard work, as aresult of my connections, as a
result of my resources, say,God, who am I?
You're giving me this ministry.
Who am I?
You're giving me this greatness.
Who am I, you're giving me thisriches?
Who am I that you're you'reyou're pouring out your love for
(10:32):
me?
Who am I that you're showingyour glory to me?
Who am I, God?
Not because I am better thanEsau, like Jacob.
Who am I?
David, I'm better I'm not betterthan Saul.
Solomon, who am I?
I'm not better than Absalom.
But God, it's because of you.
(10:53):
So now let's look at each ofthem.
Abraham in Genesis chapter 8,verse 27.
Then Abraham answered and said,Indeed, now, I who am but dust
and ashes, have taken it uponmyself to speak to the Lord.
Can you imagine?
Abraham was trying to intercedeon behalf of Lot because God
(11:17):
said, God actually gave Abrahamthe opportunity to have such a
conversation.
You don't just go and standbefore God and speak, anyhow.
You don't just go and standbefore God and sing your
praises.
No, you stand before God singingthe praises of God, not you.
Ministry is not about you.
(11:38):
The all mark of an adult, of amatured adult is that when you
realize that life is no longerabout you.
When you're a child, life isabout you.
When you're an adult, life is nolonger about you because you
have dependence.
An adult realizes that I amresponsible for those who God
(11:59):
has put around me.
If you're still selfish,self-centered, these are all
signs of pride.
You're a child, you're really achild.
That selfish nature of a child, they also have that humble state
of dependency, but sometimesthat selfishness comes in place.
(12:19):
So God gave Abraham thisopportunity for Abraham to talk
to him because God is full ofmercy, God wanted to extend
grace to what pertains toAbraham because God was about to
destroy Sodom and Gomorrah, butAbraham had a family member in
that land, and God said, Can Ihide anything from my friend?
Wow.
Humility brings you closer toGod, humility helps you to
(12:42):
relate with God.
Pride, God can reject you.
So Abraham said, Ah, God, lookwhat you're about to do.
Who am I?
I'm just dust and ashes.
To take it upon myself tonegotiate with God, to take it
upon myself to try and convincethe mind of God not to destroy
people in Sodom and Gomorrah.
(13:04):
Who am I to even speak to Godwhen God knows exactly what to
do?
That's a humble man.
That's humility speaking.
That's the mindset of humility.
Abraham esteeming himself beforeGod.
Abraham comparing himself hisunworthiness towards God.
Some of us will stand beforeGod.
(13:25):
God, you know what?
You must bless me.
Now we're so arrogant, we're soentitled or rented in this
generation.
Oh God, you know what?
I go to church every day.
God, you know what?
I wake up every morning.
God, you're supposed to blessme.
Oh my God.
Even for you to wake up thismorning, it takes the grace of
God.
That's why when God has liftedyou up, be humble, be humble.
(13:46):
Because you can easily loseeverything.
Do you know why?
Do you know why God allowed Paulto be buffet?
Because Paul had so muchrevelation.
Paul had so much experience withGod.
God said, you know what?
Every human being we have thetendency.
I don't care who you are.
We all have the tendency when weare successful, when we are
elevated in life, when we haveachieved so much, now we think
(14:09):
that we're gods.
We think that we're gods.
We can talk to people anyhow.
We can treat people anyhow.
That is why Paul had so muchspiritual power, so much
spiritual achievement.
God said, You know what, Paul?
I know you're very spiritual.
I know you're very matured, butyou're still a human being.
You still have that tendency ofpride.
That's why Paul said, What Iwant to do, I don't do.
(14:33):
What I don't want to do is whatI do.
Oh, wretched man that I am, whocan deliver me from this?
And then he said, Glory be toJesus.
Even Apostle Paul, God had tohumble him.
God had to humble him for hisown protection so that God does
not reject him, so that God cancontinually extend grace.
(14:54):
Because the Bible says heresists the proud and he gives
grace to the humble.
So if you want the grace of Godevery single day, humble
yourself.
In heart, in attitude, in yourcharacter, in your actions, in
your decisions, in yourapproach, in your posture, in
your mannerism, humble yourself.
And the next person is Jacob inGenesis chapter 32, verse 10.
(15:18):
I am not worthy of the least ofall the mercies and of all the
truth which you have shown yourservant, for I cross over this
Jordan with my staff, and now Ihave become two companies.
This was Jacob.
The contents of this verse camefrom when Jacob was planning to
(15:40):
approach Esau.
There have been blood brotherswith envy, with jealousy, with
hatred, to the point of murder.
And Jacob was not able toconfront his brother because he
knew what it did to his brother.
You know, now he's saying thatGod, you have shown mercy.
(16:02):
Everything that I've attained inthis life is true deceit.
But you have shown me mercy.
I'm not worthy of your mercy.
How many times you and I, howmany times we fail God, how many
times we lie, how many times ourhearts are so wicked.
You comparing yourself withpeople, it's just foolishness.
It's foolishness.
(16:22):
Because what the finger thatyou're pointing in that sister
or in that brother, that samefinger is pointing to you.
Just because you don't strugglewith lust doesn't mean that you
don't have something that you'restruggling with.
You might be struggling withpride, but nobody's seeing it.
You might be struggling withunforgiveness, but nobody's
seeing it.
But your outward appearance isas if you're so holy than
(16:43):
everybody else.
So Jacob was saying that God, Ihave done so much, but so much
wickedness, so much deceit, somuch lying, so much
manipulation.
But your mercies, your merciesand truth.
He said, I'm not worthy of it.
(17:03):
Some of us were not worthy ofanything.
Me, I'm not worthy of anything.
Because I know what what I do, Iknow where I came from.
I didn't call myself.
I didn't want, I didn't want Ididn't want to have anything to
do with Jesus.
I hated Christianity because ofhow they use Christianity to
enslave us as black people.
If God did not intervene in mylife, I would have disowned him.
(17:24):
I would have I'm like, no, thisChristianity is false, just like
any other religion.
But I didn't encounterChristianity, I encountered
Christ.
That's what made the differencebecause Christ was different.
So Jacob is saying that God, Iam not worthy of your mercy.
We're not worthy of God's grace,we're not worthy of God's mercy,
(17:46):
we're not worthy of God'sgoodness.
All of these things that weobtain from God is because of
God's grace.
Even when we stand before God inheaven, like the man of God in
the leadership training sayssomething that I think that was
just a reminder.
Because I've been looking at thebook of Revelation.
When you have time, read thebook of Revelation to see your
Jesus in the future, who He is,He is a resurrected body, to
(18:12):
have the nail print on his handsand feet, and the man of God was
saying that to remind us of hisaccomplishment on the cross on
our behalf.
That is why the Bible says, theone on the throne and the Lamb
of God, that is a sign ofhumility.
Can you imagine Jesus?
Jesus is gonna have that nailprint on his hands, on his feet
(18:34):
for eternity.
You might think that his body isdisfigured, but it's gonna have
that testimony of being on thecross for eternity.
It takes humility to see Jesusin that state of a middle point
on his hands and his feet.
(18:54):
Oh my god, that is indeed Jesusembodies humility throughout
eternity.
You and I will be standingbefore the lamb, not even the
lion.
The Bible would have representedJesus as the lion.
Yes, it is the lion of the tribeof Judah, but the Bible keeps
saying in the book of Revelationthat we will stand before the
lamb.
And the Bible says, Who isworthy to open the throne, to
(19:16):
open the scroll?
It didn't say the lamp, thelion, it didn't reference Jesus
as the lion in that capacity.
It says, Word is the Lamb, wordis the Lamb, who is worthy to
open the scroll, who is worthyto seal the scroll.
Can you imagine?
Because Jesus humbled himself, and as the result of humility is
what honor.
unknown (19:38):
Wow.
SPEAKER_00 (19:39):
So Jesus is not just
speaking off his head, he leaves
it out that guys, for ministry, for leadership to build your
home, exemplify humility.
It's key.
It's key.
Let's go to the next person.
That is Joseph.
Again, these are all greatservants of God.
Some of them were prophets, someof them were patriarchs.
(20:00):
Now Joseph is a governor, is aleader.
Just because you're inleadership does not mean that,
oh, now everybody looks up toyou, you have authority, that
you don't exercise humility.
It's a lie.
Joseph said in the book ofGenesis 41, verse 16.
So Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, It is not me, oh God.
(20:21):
It is the man.
Pharaoh had a dream.
Joseph said, interpretation isof the Lord.
He said, He said, Pharaoh, it isnot me.
It is not me.
Wow.
It is not me.
Just because you, as ministers, now you are performing signs and
(20:43):
wonders.
You are casting out demons.
Oh my god, it becomes sopowerful in your head.
Oh, look at me, look howpowerful I am.
If you're not careful, peoplehave to worship you, people have
to book an appointment to comeand see you.
People have to give you gifts.
I'm not saying that people don'tbook anything.
I have nothing with them.
But what is the reason whyyou're doing this?
(21:06):
What is the reason why you'redoing this?
Joseph, a great man, a leader, agovernor, a wealthy man.
God gave him the gift ofinterpreting dreams, telling
dreams and explaining them atthe same time.
And he's telling Pharaoh,Pharaoh, even though I'm able to
tell your dreams, I'm able tointerpret your dreams, Pharaoh,
(21:27):
I am not the source of it.
This gift that I have, I am notthe source of it.
That's why the Bible constantlyreminds us that we are not the
source of ourselves.
We didn't create ourselves.
We are still words of our gifts,we are still words of God's
life.
So you're not your own.
The Bible said the Lamb boughtus and redeemed us unto God.
(21:49):
The Lamb bought us and redeemedus unto God.
So we should live our life forGod because we we were created
by God and for God.
We are responsible andaccountable for God.
That's why the Bible says, lovethe law with all.
God wants you to give Him yourall because you're not your own.
That's why selfishness,self-selfenness, pride should
(22:10):
have no place in your life as achild of God.
Being bought with the blood ofJesus Christ, because you are
redeemed, you are bought fromthe slave market of sin, from
the slave market of sickness, from the slave market of death,
from the slave market of yourslave master Satan previously.
So you're not your own.
You have to let people knowthat, hey, me, I can preach, me,
(22:32):
I can pray.
It's not because of me, I neverwanted to become a man of God.
I never, I was never interestedin knowledge.
I was very stupid in highschool.
Book was never my thing.
But when I gave my life toJesus, I was so stupid that I
said, God, I am stupid.
I need wisdom in life so I cannavigate my life.
What God did was introduce me tothe book of Proverbs.
(22:54):
I spent most of my my 20s in thelibrary while my friends were
partying and having fun.
Because I needed knowledge, Ineeded to have revelation, I
needed to know God and myselfand people in life.
It is not you, child of God.
You are in ministry because ofGod, you are here because of God
and give what is due to God.
(23:15):
The next person is Moses.
But Moses said to God, Who am I?
Again, who am I that I should goto Pharaoh?
That I should bring the childrenof Israel out of Egypt.
Ah, God, who am I?
I'm a fugitive.
I just kill people and I escape.
And then you tell me to go standbefore Pharaoh?
This emperor?
(23:36):
This king?
God, who am I?
God, who am I to even deliveryour people out of Egypt?
God, who am I?
A fugitive.
That's why don't ever discountpeople.
Don't discount people based onyour past.
Paul was a murderer, Paul was aprosecutor.
There's no sin that the grace ofJesus Christ cannot save and
(23:57):
redeem.
There's no one that God cannotredeem, the blood cannot redeem.
There's nobody.
Can you imagine?
They are murderers in the Bible.
Some of us will have not killedanybody.
Can you imagine?
Moses killed, David killed, Saulkilled.
unknown (24:12):
Ah!
SPEAKER_00 (24:13):
And these great men
of God, God still use them.
Hey, child of God, you arequalified for God to use you.
No, no, no, not on the basis ofyour of your credentials, not on
the basis of your capacity, noton the basis of anything that
you have attained, but on thebasis of who you are.
Being honest with yourself thatGod, I am wicked.
(24:33):
God, can you use this slanderer?
Can you use this liar?
Can you use this fornicator?
I used to tell God, my God, howcan I be a man of God?
You know, I I'm I'm very lustfulat times.
I don't trust myself with women.
God, how can I?
How can I be a man of God?
You know, I have my struggleswith women, God.
Women.
(24:54):
Up to now it's the grace of God.
God can use anybody.
God can use anybody.
Moses said, God, who am I?
I'm a fugitive, I'm a killer tostand before Pharaoh and also to
save, to deliver your peoplefrom Egypt.
(25:15):
It's tomorrow.
You know, and this is what Godsaid about Moses when it comes
to Marian and Aaron.
That is why at times don't speakagainst your servants.
Don't speak against yourpastors.
I learned this principle wayback.
Don't speak against men of God.
Don't judge them.
Even if you see their flaws, pray for them.
(25:37):
Don't laugh at them.
Don't laugh at them.
Don't don't even Satan try toput a judgment on God's
servants.
Satan doesn't have any right todo that.
So who are you, mortal man?
Because these are servants ofGod.
They are of God.
Let God be the one to deal withthem.
But you, yes, you can you canyou can speak to them in a very
(26:00):
respectful way, in a very lovingway, but don't you ever, ever
dare speak heal against a man orwoman of God.
Believe in me, you will faceGod.
Ever since God opened my eyes torealize that even if I see a man
of God or woman of God, theyhave failed.
I will pray for them.
I will not laugh.
I will not point fingers, I willnot put them to shame.
(26:20):
Don't ever, ministers ormembers, don't you are you are
setting yourself up fordisaster.
Practice the the spirit ofhonor.
Practice the spirit of honor.
Remember why Noah cursed Am wasbecause even though Noah was a
great man, Noah was a prophet,Noah was a servant, Noah was
(26:40):
strong, Noah was in hishumanness.
But guess what?
His one of his sons saw thenakedness of his father and
exposed the nakedness of hisfather.
But the two sons, the Bible saysthey came, they cloated their
father, and they hid their facefrom seeing the nakedness of
their father.
And they still honor theirfather.
Which shows that even though weare human beings, the reason why
(27:01):
we have to honor our pastors isbecause God honors them.
The reason why we have to honorour ministers because God honors
them.
Why am I saying this?
Because Mary and Aaron, theseare two other ministers, too,
who spoke against Moses becauseof his wife.
Can you imagine?
Mind your own business.
(27:21):
We as members and otherministers mind our own business.
Why would you try to mingle withthe type of relationship that
Moses wants?
Moses wants a black woman, abeautiful, plumb-shaped,
peer-shaped black woman fromUtopia, from East Africa.
And you're speaking againstMoses because of that.
(27:47):
For he had married an Ethiopianwoman.
So they said, as the Lord indeedspoken only through Moses.
Can you imagine?
Because of the relationship thatMoses had.
(28:07):
This is another time.
Because of the relationship thatMoses had, they disqualify Moses
of being used by God.
They question, the calling, theministry of Moses.
As the Lord indeed.
Look at this mistake of mind thewrong woman.
I don't care.
A man of God will make amistake.
Pastor Edith will make amistake.
(28:29):
God has still called her.
I am not we're not, we shouldnot disqualify her because of
her mistakes.
I wish the ministers were here.
We should not disqualify ourMissumba when we see her
mistakes.
Even when we see her mistakesbecause she's a human being, God
has still called her.
The day we question her calling, that's the day some of us will
(28:49):
have leprosies.
In any kind, it could befinancial leprosies.
Fear God.
Not because you fear her, youfear God because she's called by
God.
The Bible says she's a woman ofGod, of God.
Anything of God, fear it.
And he said, Has he not spokenthrough us also?
(29:12):
Hey, he and the Lord heard it.
Wow.
Moses, Moses was not there.
Hey God, Moses was not there.
Now the man Moses was veryhumble, more than all men who
were on the face of the earth.
Can you imagine?
Moses was very humble.
(29:33):
Indeed, in real life, Moses is avery humble man.
He had his own problem, angerissue.
But he was very, very humble.
Moses never uses power.
Oh, because I'm the one whodivided the Red Sea.
No.
Like our pastor said, Mosessaid, God, don't use me because
I cannot speak.
Moses said, God, who am I tostand before Pharaoh?
I'm afraid of that man.
It's so great.
(29:54):
That's that's humility speaking.
That's the voice of humility.
And we see that in Moses.
So all the great leaders in theBible.
One of the hallmarks of theirgreatness, their success, their
leadership, their ministry ishumility.
This is a beautifulcharacteristic that God wants
you and I to possess in upperroad ministry.
And finally, um David.
The king said, the King Davidwent in and sat before the Lord,
(30:16):
and he said, Who am I?
Oh Lord God, what is my housethat you have brought me this
far?
Have you guys seen theconsistency that I'm laying?
The patterns in the Bible.
You see, if you be a Biblestudent by observing patterns,
when you observe these patterns, there are principles that you
that are applicable.
(30:37):
So the key to success accordingto the kingdom way, according to
God's way, is based oncharacter.
You can have competences.
People say, Oh, your gift willtake you to the top, but your
character will take you there.
Sometimes you might not have thegift, but your character will
take you there.
So he says, Who am I, God?
Who am I?
What is my house that you havebrought me this far?
(30:59):
That is the voice of humilityspeaking, child of God.
That is the mind of humilityspeaking.
Who am I?
My house.
Hey, I'm from Uganda.
God, who am I that you havebrought me this far?
Who am I that you have broughtme into Canada?
Who am I that you areestablishment in Canada?
That's the voice of humility.
And finally we come down toSolomon 2, a great man.
(31:20):
That's 1 Kings chapter 3, verse5.
At Gibeon, the Lord appeared toSolomon in a dream by night, and
God asked, said, Ask, what shallI give you?
And then Solomon said, Uh, letme jump down where he said, Um,
oh, verse 7.
Now, oh Lord my God, you havemade your servant king instead
of my father David.
(31:42):
But I am a little child, I donot know how to go out or come
in.
And your servant is in the midstof your people whom you have
chosen, a great people to mirrorus, to be numbered and counted.
Ah, ah, King Solomon is sayingthat God, I'm too small.
(32:02):
Yeah, God has God has given usupper room ministry, so big.
Ah, God, this this upper room tobe 24 hours prayer altar.
Ah, God, this is a big vision.
Hey, this is bigger than myhead.
And any, this is how you knowthat you have the vision from
God when it's bigger than yourhead.
When it's bigger than your head, you cannot fathom it.
That is from God.
But when you can control it,it's your own vision.
(32:25):
Because you're gonna need God,you're gonna need humility to
say, God, you have given me agreat vision for upper room
ministry.
It's bigger than me.
I need you to bring people towork with me.
Solomon is saying that, God, I'mjust a little child.
How do you even know how to takecare of myself?
And you have given me thisresponsibility.
You see, your calling is notbased on your ability, it's
(32:48):
based on your willingness, whichalso, when you're willing, it
shows that you have humility tosay, God, I am eager to learn.
I am eager to be trained, I ameager to be transformed.
When you have that attitude, believe in me, God will say, You
know what?
You qualify to be called.
Not because of your abilities, not because of anything else,
(33:08):
but because of your willingnessto say yes to God, because of
your willingness to say, God,I'm ready to be trained, I'm
ready to be taught, I'm readyfor you to transform me.
Attitude and action of humilityis not superiority, but
submission and service.
Someone's superiority over youdoes not diminish your
significance.
(33:28):
What do I mean by that?
Somebody can be superior overyou based on your titles, based
on your positions, based on yourpower, based on your status.
But that should never cross inyour mind that you're
insignificant.
No.
You might have a manager overyou, you might have a boss over
you, you might have a seniorover you, or you might have a
(33:49):
pastor over you, you might havea minister over you.
That should not diminish yoursignificance.
And we we in place of positionshould not diminish people's
significance because we needyour significance to be able to
accomplish the great work thatGod has called us to do.
So humility is you know yoursignificance, but actually
serving your significance andsubmitting yourself to others as
(34:10):
well for you to obtain yoursignificance.
But when it comes to God, don'tever, ever lift up your crown,
lift up your potential, lift upyour accomplishment.
Instead, lay it down to God.
And the Bible says if you'regonna boast, don't boast in your
riches, don't boast in yourpower, don't boast in your
might, don't boast in yourinfluence, but you should boast
(34:31):
that you know God.
That He's loving, He's kind,He's gracious, He's merciful,
and God bless you.
Thank you, Lord, for thisopportunity.
Thank you for your people.
Lord, we're not just here toacquire head knowledge, but I
pray that you instill thisattitude, this posture, this art
condition, this arttransformation of humility
because we know how vital it isfor success, oh God.
(34:53):
And we see it throughout theBible and we see it in Jesus,
our Lord and Savior.
God, we want humility in our ownpersonal lives.
We want humility, oh God, in ourpower room ministry from the
leadership all the way down, ohGod.
We ask this in Jesus' preciouspowerful name we have prayed.
Amen.
God bless you.
Thank you so much for your timeand your attention.
