What if everything you thought you knew about Reiki was just scratching the surface? In this eye-opening conversation, Isabel and Shantel explore the profound spiritual threshold that Reiki representsβ€”far beyond its common reputation as simply a healing modality.

Drawing from their extensive experience as practitioners and teachers, they challenge the widespread misconception that Reiki is a separate healing energy that can be turned on and off. Instead, they reveal its true nature as the universal life force energy that constitutes everything in existence. This fundamental shift in perspective explains why so many spiritual seekers report Reiki as their first meaningful catalyst for deeper awakening.

In this episode, we explore:

πŸŒ• What 'Universal Life Force' really means
πŸŒ– Reiki as more than a healing energy
πŸŒ— Reiki as a catalyst for spiritual awakening
🌘 The original roots of Reiki in Japanese Buddhism
πŸŒ‘ How Reiki supports trauma healing without re-triggering

Hello, hello and welcome backto another amazing episode here
on the Wisdom Rising podcast.
In today's episode, you'rejoined with myself, isabel Wells

(01:12):
, your co-host, and ChantelOchoa as we dive into how Reiki
can be a spiritual thresholdhere at Moon Rising.
Reiki is one of the backbonesof what we teach our students
and what we bring to the table, and, as we step towards the
summer, we're bringing forward alot of information and insight

(01:32):
and personal experience that mayor may not align with what
you've been taught about Reiki.
So, as Christine comes backfrom her Japan pilgrimage, and
as Chantel and I continue towork with our students and our
clients.
We've started to see a lot ofpatterns and beliefs surrounding
Reiki that we wonder if there'sa more aligning way to approach

(01:52):
the practice.
So if you are struggling tofeel a tangible connection with
Reiki and you want to divedeeper, this episode is for you
From Reiki as a threshold fordeeper spiritual awakening to a
misunderstanding about if Reikiis just a healing energy or
where Reiki comes from, how wecan work with it in a more

(02:13):
intuitive way, etc.
Etc.
This conversation is reallygoing to take us deep into
Reiki's roots and open our eyesto the original intention, but
also the current capacity thatReiki has to help us heal, to
help us wake up, and why so manypeople find Reiki as a starting
point on their journey.
So many people open up tospirituality and to a new set of

(02:40):
perspectives and beliefs andworldviews and to their own
healing when they first stepinto a Reiki class or when they
first receive their Reikiattunement, and so we're diving
into the whys, hows and whatnexts of that experience today.
And if you're loving this newdirection that we're taking
Reiki, or you want to hear allof the amazing takeaways that

(03:02):
Christine is bringing back withher from Mount Kurama, where she
recently completed a pilgrimageto the birthplace of Reiki.
She has a free webinar happeningthis Thursday at 5 pm Mountain
Time, 7 pm Eastern Time, on whydid Usui go to Mount Kurama.
So she's going to be divinginto everything from the roots

(03:22):
of Reiki in Japanese Buddhism toeverything from the roots of
Reiki in Japanese Buddhism.
Why Mikawa Sui picked MountKarama of all of the mountains
in the area.
Why 21 days?
What was his original intention?
What energies did he meet withon the mountain?
And that's going to open thedoor to investigate the origins
of Reiki, how and why Easternand Western Reiki divided and

(03:43):
what the original Reikiteachings tell us about Reiki as
we know it today, and so muchmore.
So if you are really curious todive deep into the origins of
Reiki, to see a new side of thispractice and to learn about
Christine's top takeaways andlessons and wisdom that she's
bringing back with her fromMount Karama, please remember to

(04:03):
register for this webinarthat's happening on Thursday,
May 29th, at 5 pm Mountain Time,7 pm Eastern Time.
The replay will also beavailable as long as you
register at the link and, inaddition, if you are interested
in taking this to the next leveland diving in deep.
Christine does have a ReikiFusion Master Teacher Training

(04:24):
starting on June 5th throughJuly 10th.
Classes meet on Thursday nightsfrom 5 to 7 pm Mountain Time.
And this Master TeacherTraining I have to say I have
taken Christine's Master Classas a student multiple times and
it is unlike any other MasterTeacher Training that you will
ever get in the Reiki world andI feel like I have a little bit

(04:47):
of ability to say that becauseI've taken a master teacher
training many times for manydifferent instructors.
And Christine's really standsout because not only does she
take you back to the trueorigins of Reiki, using the most
up-to-date research and storiesand evidence that we have for
the culture and the time inwhich Reiki was created, but she

(05:08):
also takes you through how dowe bring that into our modern
everyday life?
How do we embody Reiki with theculture and the society and the
energy that we are currentlyworking with?
So this course is for Reikilevel two practitioners or Reiki
masters who want to retake thetraining, those who want a
deeper understanding oftraditional Reiki and what it

(05:29):
means to practice Reiki inmodern times.
So again that Reiki fusionmaster teacher training is not
your typical Reiki masters classClasses start on June 5th and
you're going to be given thepermission to take the class
with beginner's eyes, throughoutthe old ideas and models that
didn't allow you to trust or touse your intuition or to

(05:51):
innovate and integrate theseteachings into your present day,
all while steeping you in thattraditional knowledge and
teachings and wisdom.
So again, classes start on June5th.
Enrollment is now open and thelink to enroll is down in the
show notes.
There are pay in full but alsopayment plan options so you can
choose what fits best for you.
And, on that note, as we stepinto the summer, as we step into

(06:13):
June, we are starting to take adifferent approach.
Here at Moon Rising, we arereally going to be leaning into
allowing our intuitions to takethe lead over the summer.
When that comes to the topicsthat we talk about, when we talk
about them, what we're bringingforward, how we're showing up
all of this, our intuition isreally taking the lead and
taking the reins over the summer.

(06:35):
We'll be sharing about thismore in the weeks to come, but
be sure to follow us in the moonrising shamanic mystics
facebook group if you'reinterested in learning more and
seeing this change, this shift, unfold in real time and if
you're feeling that invitationin yourself to reconnect with
the wildness in you, toreconnect with the imperfect and

(06:55):
the messy, and the real and theauthentic and the what's
happening right now not the whatyou wish it would look like if
you're ready to let yourintuition take the lead, then we
invite you to join us as we dothe same.
So join our Facebook group, find us on YouTube, subscribe to
our newsletter All of the linkswill be in the show notes and
we would love for you to join uson this journey as we unfold

(07:18):
into our intuitions, and inviteyou to unfold with us and, in
the meantime, I hope that youenjoy today's episode.
Let's go to the show.
Welcome, welcome to anotheramazing conversation.
Today we're diving into Reikias a spiritual threshold.
Chantel and I have beennoticing some really interesting
patterns in our work with ourclients and our students, and

(07:41):
also in ourselves, and we reallywanted to dive into this
alternative perspective of Reikithat we don't really see much
in the spiritual community.
So, chantel, do you want tokick us off this morning?

Speaker 2 (07:54):
Yeah.
So I, we, yeah, definitely, like you were saying, just
noticing some patterns, conversations, and so last week,
when we were talking about whatwe want to discuss, I thought,
you know, this is a great way tointroduce different aspects of
Reiki and I see it as thethreshold, and so with that,
it's not removing any othermodalities or saying that you

(08:18):
can't practice anything elsethat you are practicing, but
what I have noticed is thatthose who are really that go to
the far extreme of and continueto grow in their spirituality
tends to have a foundation ofReiki.
And so what I've been noticingas this threshold, this gateway
that we're talking about, it'slike bringing in the oldest

(08:41):
element, the oldest energy ofhealing and having those
attunements allowing us to getinto a alignment with our soul
agreement with our contractshere, with our purpose and
releasing anything that nolonger serves us.
It tends to then lead us toother modalities, whether that's
breath work, whether that'splant medicine, if it's, you

(09:03):
know, whatever else is out therethat people are being drawn to.
It's almost like the soulcalling starts to happen.
But I find the foundation when Iask people like what was the
first thing that you did, whatwas the very first modality and
they'll say, well, maybe Istarted here, but it didn't
really catch.
And then I started Reiki andthen, all of a sudden, all these
things started opening up forme.
And I'm like I started Reikiand then all of a sudden, all

(09:26):
these things started opening upfor me and I'm like, oh, it's
very interesting.
And so I just thought it was agreat conversation for us to be
able to have and just open upthat gateway and see where we go
from there Absolutely.

Speaker 1 (09:35):
And that perspective of it really started with Reiki
for me.
I love that because I think somany people find Reiki or even
find spirituality.
Me, I love that because I thinkso many people find Reiki or
even find spirituality.
But I find this story reallycommon with Reiki in particular,
where you know the storyline is.
I had no idea what Reiki is.
I just woke up one day and Iknew that I needed to take a
class or there was a teacherthere that I just felt like I

(09:58):
needed to take the workshop theywere giving and you just kind
of find yourself in a Reikiclass.
And for me, from more of likethe philosophical perspective,
when we really go back inReiki's history Usui Reiki Ryoho
and Christine has some amazingwebinars and podcasts planned on
this as she comes back from herpilgrimage for Japan, so I

(10:19):
won't spend too much timebelaboring this point but Usui
Reiki Ryoho wasn't the firstquote-unquote Reiki to be
practiced, it's just the mostfamous one.
And when we really go back tothe origin of Reiki and where it
was coming from, it was comingfrom Japan in this time where
Buddhism and for Mikawa Usui, who was a mountain ascetic, this

(10:39):
time of really trying toconnect with nature, really
trying to connect with theenergy of all things.
And when we look at Reiki right, we learned this in our very
first Reiki class that Reikiroughly translates-ish to
universal life force energy.
Right, that's kind of whatwe're all taught Reiki means.
And what makes me laugh aboutthis is that we kind of glaze

(11:04):
over that.
Right, we learn that it isuniversal life force energy.
Everybody knows thisconceptually, but we rarely take
the time to stop and thinkabout what does that actually
mean?
And what I find is that one ofthe core I don't want to say
misconceptions, because I thinkit's a stepping stone right on
the path.

(11:25):
But one of the things that Isee people doing is kind of
giving Reiki its own embodiment,as if it's this separate energy
that's a healing energy, andthat's not what Reiki is.
Reiki is the energy that is inall things.
If you're a shaman, this issaying this is the spirit that

(11:46):
is in animistic principles.
Right, that everything is alive.
It's the energy that flowsthrough all things.
And from a scientificperspective, right, we see this
with the protons, neutrons andelectrons that make up all of
the atoms.
Right, it is the energy.
It is the foundation, it is thespiritual backbone of
everything in physical reality.
And so I find it reallyinteresting, and a trend that

(12:09):
I've been noticing lately isthis idea of turning Reiki on or
off, or that Reiki is intendedonly for healing or things like
this.
And it's like, when we go backto the original intention of
Reiki first of all, it was neverintended as a healing modality
when we really go back to theoriginal core roots it developed
out of, like I was saying, japanese Buddhism and Reiki was

(12:33):
this pathway of reconnectingwith the universal life force,
energy, to achieve enlightenment.
Healing was kind of like ahappy side effect of that,
because when you are enlightened, when you are fully aligned,
your energy is flowing, thereare no blocks, there is no
sickness or dis-ease because youare connected and in tune right
.
Obviously, in the West we havesoul contracts and things like

(12:55):
that that factor into it, butthat general idea behind Reiki
was that it was the ability toconnect with the energy in all
things, to recognize that we areall one, and healing was a side
effect of that deep connection.
And what I find reallyinteresting is I think a lot of
people nowadays are going ontheir Reiki journey and they

(13:17):
feel like they kind of hit thiswall of it's not maybe doing as
much as they thought, or ithelps for a little while but it
doesn't get to the deeper issue.
And that's when they startlooking into other modalities,
like you were saying, chantel, and kind of branching out.
And for me I do sometimes wonderif a little bit of that feeling

(13:37):
of well, but there could bemore or maybe something's
missing, comes from that factthat we've started seeing Reiki
energy as something differentthan it actually is.
It's not its own separateenergy.
Now you could technically saythat things like Karuna Reiki or
Holy Fire Reiki that arecalling on a specific type of
energy are their own energeticstrand.
But especially if we're lookingat Usui Reiki, ryoho, the

(14:00):
intention was to connect withthe energy of all things, to
connect with spirit, to connectthat all that is.
Whatever word you use todescribe that, it was the
essence of everything.
It wasn't.
This is Reiki energy and thisisn't it was.
Reiki is all, and by connectingto that all that's where we find
peace, that's where we findtruth, that's where we find

(14:21):
healing and as much as there areprinciples of the traditional
Buddhist Reiki practice that Ithink are limiting for the way
that we grew up in the West andthe way that our minds work
right, like complete detachmentfrom story of you don't get to
know what happens in a Reikisession.
I don't think that works for usin the West because of how

(14:42):
active our minds are.
But I do wonder sometimes ifthat fundamental break from
really being able to look at andunderstand what we are talking
about when we say universal lifeforce energy, it's not just a
healing energy, it's notsomething you can turn on or off
, it's something that you can beaware of or not aware of.

(15:04):
And that's that fundamentalshift of we're not always aware
of the Reiki energy that's inall things, that is making up
all things, and that's thepractice of Reiki is coming back
into that awareness andremembering our connection to
all things.
But I think that shift issomething that I've really been
noticing lately.
That's really interestingbecause I don't know that we

(15:25):
really often take the time tofully reflect on what does that
actually mean, that universallife force energy?
And it kind of starts to takeon a life of its own, which I
find really interesting.

Speaker 2 (15:37):
Yeah, I love that part because when, especially
like when we're teaching levelone, right, and we're explaining
this to people and you're right, it does there's kind of like
this gloss over of what doesthat actually mean, like there's
no depth to it a lot of times, like we don't have a deeper
conversation and with it it'slike this has literally been

(16:00):
with us since the beginning oftime, right, like if we are as
animus and everything has energy.
We operate through this energy.
It is our chi, it's our prana,it's all of it.
This is literally the energythat operates all things on this
planet and so, on a soul level,on an energetic level, it is

(16:20):
connecting to that energy thatanimates us, that moves us, is
connecting to that energy thatanimates us, that moves us, that
helps us breathe and live andeverything.
But when you bring in the titleReiki itself, I think that is
kind of what separates it frompeople understanding that this
is universal life force, energyand that we are being attuned to
it so that we can channel it ona much deeper level, a more

(16:43):
expansive level, so that thehealing process can come through
, so that we can, aspractitioners, provide this as a
service to our clients and whatI tell my clients is when
they're asking what is Reiki, what are you doing?
I always tell them I said I turn, I don't turn it on, but I said
I Reiki you.
But it activates the Reikiinside of you so you can meet

(17:05):
the frequency of the energy thatI'm providing.
So it's awakening their owninner healer.
It's awakening the energywithin them that a lot of times
we don't feel right.
Like you're saying.
It's, you know, having thatawareness all the time.
It's turning it on, turning itoff, and I think a lot of it is
because we are in a, you know, aworld of trauma most of the

(17:26):
time and when we are in thatfight or flight energy within
our nervous system and we'vegone through so much in our life
that we don't look within tofeel the energies that are
moving and that are helping usto heal, we're so focused, like
trauma-based and trauma-focusedthat we don't look at what's
really happening on a deeperlevel.
So when you are brought to aReiki room and I always find

(17:48):
that interesting, like you weresaying, when people are like I
don't know, I just woke up tothe word, or I, you know, just
showed up in a Reiki room, and Ialways tell people it's like
it's not a coincidence that youjust showed up in a Reiki master
room, you know, or just in aReiki room and having this done,
this is really like spirituallyled.
I believe you know, and most ofthe time it's because people
have already tried everythingelse out there and they're

(18:10):
seeking these differentmodalities of a deeper healing.
And even when I have, I have aclient right now.
I've been working with herabout a year now and she came to
me with major chronic pain, like she was pretty much
bedridden and very much in painand now she is living her life
and she's out of bed, she's quitmost of her meds, like it's

(18:34):
amazing her healing.
And then she'll still say, well, I wonder if it's Reiki.
And I'm like you have beencoming for a year.
Yes, you have to give somecredit to what you are doing
with this energy.
And look at I go, a year agoyou were bedridden and look
where you are now You're goingto concerts, you're starting to
travel again.

(18:54):
You know she's having all thesedifferent life experiences and
even with that, I find itinteresting when people still
want to bypass what they'redoing and don't want to give
credit to where credit's due notto me, but to themselves and
the energy that they're workingwith.
And it's just.
It's like, yeah, look at whatwe are doing collectively with

(19:15):
this energy and how it's liftingthe community that it's serving
.

Speaker 1 (19:20):
And you know, I find it so interesting when you bring
up that idea of, kind, of thelayer of trauma that so many
people are walking with.
And I think this is kind ofanother point in favor of mixing
modalities with Reiki and usingReiki as a catalyst, because
Reiki is of who you are, thatyou aren't your thoughts, you
aren't your mind, you aren'tthat trauma, you aren't these

(19:48):
layers of humanness, that kindof get put on top of our soul,
right, you come back into theReiki that's already within you
and so when you step into asession with a practitioner,
that's exactly what's happening.
It's that process of helpingyou to remember that truth
that's already inside you.
And because of how much traumawe carry, because of the many,

(20:13):
many, many layers of what lifelooks like right now, right Of
everything from your childhoodexperiences and your limiting
beliefs to your cell phone andsocial media and your work,
culture and all of this, right, there are so many layers of what
it means to be a human rightnow.
And I often find that Reikireally addresses the soul level,

(20:36):
right, it helps that innertruth come forward so that we
can be aware of it, so that wecan connect to it, so that we
can recognize that deeper truththat's happening in us and
oftentimes, when we hit thatwall that we were talking about,
it's like there's this placewhere Reiki can support us, but
it can't help us truly fullyprocess our trauma.

(20:59):
It's not going to help usunravel our limiting beliefs and
things.
It can help us in the emotionsthat come from that.
It can help us remember thatthose are false narratives.
It can help us unravel ourlimiting beliefs and things.
It can help us in the emotionsthat come from that.
It can help us remember thatthose are false narratives.
It can help us awaken to thatdeeper truth.
But there is an aspect of ourhuman journey that often
requires different modalities ora slightly different

(21:20):
perspective in order for us tofind the healing in it right.
There's a reason that here atMoon Rising we couple shamanism
and coaching and Reiki becausewhen we have those mixed
modalities we can really call onthe different aspects of who
you are and help your mindunravel the stories that it's
telling, help your mind and yourneural networks process through

(21:43):
any traumas that you have hadso that your body, your physical
body, isn't remembering.
And Reiki is an amazing pathwayto support that, to work with
the nervous system to processthe anxiety, while we're using
other modalities, like shamanismor coaching, to help you really
unravel all of those knots thatmay have been tied in your mind

(22:03):
, in your human state as well.
And it's really interesting tome when there is a little bit of
this tension around.
Well, shouldn't Reiki be ableto just fix everything right?
Shouldn't Reiki be able to just, you know, clean slate done,
I'm healed again, and on afundamental level?
Yeah, because it's again and ona fundamental level?
Yeah, because it's again.

(22:23):
It is that path toenlightenment right?
Reiki can do all things, because it is all things Again.
It's not like there's thisseparate energy that we're
calling on to heal you.
It is reconnecting with thetruth of all that is.
But because there are so manylayers to what it means to be
human right now, sometimes weneed additional support to be

(22:44):
able to fully relax into thatconnection.
And that's part of why what Iwas saying earlier about how
there are some of those Buddhistprinciples like not connecting
to the story of what youexperience that don't really
work for a lot of Westerners, because we are taught, we're
kind of trained growing up, torely on our minds, to rely on
our intellect and our logicalunderstanding of things and if

(23:10):
we just hands off, absolutely nostory, full detachment, for a
lot of people that eitherbecomes really frustrating and
activates their mind more, or itgoes into full dissociation and
not caring about anything, andneither of those are that true
path to healing and connection.
And so I think we have to modifythe practices that we're using
for the times that we're livingin and in a society that does

(23:30):
have so much trauma and thatdoes have so much that we hold
on to whether we need to hold onto it or not.
Right, we carry around a lotright now as humans, and
sometimes we need additionalsupport in learning what it
means to let go of all of thatso that when we step back into
the room with Reiki or back intoconnection with ourselves, it
really can be that fullawakening to that deeper truth,

(23:54):
without the heaviness of all ofthe extra layers that we may
have been carrying around before.

Speaker 2 (24:01):
Great points, because it is, if Reiki could do it all
and it does do it all, but itis.
I think it's our thoughts, ourown emotions and our like you're
saying your mind, your ego thatsays I have to hold on to a lot
of this.
And even in our classes andwith, you know, coaching and
working with clients, I find itso interesting when that concept

(24:23):
comes up of releasing andthere's just so many people that
feels like they have to hold on.
It's almost like they're loyalto their pain, you know, and if
they don't hold on to it, itnever happened, or they can't
carry the anger that they carrybecause they've released it or
because they've offeredforgiveness, released it or

(24:48):
because they've offeredforgiveness.
And I feel that Reiki does this, has this beautiful gift within
itself, this underlining giftof allowing it to be a gentle
removal of the trauma.
You know, it's like when you goand you have a session, we're
not sitting there saying, okay,we want to go, and what happened
to you when you were five orwhat happened to you when you
were 10.
You know, we're not digging inthe past.
We're allowing whatever in thepast that's ready to be come to

(25:09):
the surface and be released, tocome to the surface and be
released, right, but we do itwith the permission of allowing
ourself to say I'm ready to letthis go.
And so when I watch clients thatare ready to release it, it is
amazing how quickly theytransform.
And it's literally watching thetransformation happen on such a

(25:31):
deep, deep level and theyalmost miss it themselves, like
they almost don't even see thechange and the growth in
themselves until like a fewmonths later as they're still
progressing through theirhealing process or getting into
alignment with where they wantto be.
And then there's just like Ican't believe how much my life
has changed.
You know, we can witness itfrom the external part, but

(25:52):
sometimes we miss the changewithin, and so and that's coming
back to that busy mind, busylife kind of aspect and so it
really is like when we're doingthis work, recognize that it has
such a deeper purpose than whatwe even give it credit for.
And so I do think, becausewe're not digging at the scars,

(26:12):
we're not pulling up all ofthese painful memories, that it
almost loses some of its lusterand I'm like, no, no, it doesn't
, because the softness, thegentleness of it that when you
leave and you feel like you'refloating out of the room, you
feel like even if you cried, even if you're pulling out all
this stuff, even if you'rereleasing on the table so much,

(26:35):
but you get to leave feelingbalanced and whole.
What a gift that is.
Without feeling like you, youjust uprooted all this baggage
and now you got to go home andprocess it energetically.
We just did that and now it'sgoing to continue to work on you
for the next few days and thenyou're going to come back for
another session if that's partof your, your healing process

(26:55):
and plan.
And so when you do that, thenit's like another layer gets
peeled off and another layer, and another layer, until you get
to this place where you're justlike, oh, none of those
triggers trigger me anymore.
None of that even has the samepain effect that it used to have
.
And so that's when we get toreally see the difference.
And for me, like recognizingeven just a five year span and

(27:17):
how I've changed and how youknow we've grown, I've grown and
everything.
And knowing when I startedReiki, shamanamanism came in,
because that was the part of my,my process, of who I was going
to become right, and I dobelieve that I believe there's
modalities that show up becausewe're meant to be a practitioner
in that, or there's a deeperlearning and lesson in it.

(27:39):
Bypass the things that areshowing up for you Definitely,
go out and feel into what isavailable.
But I find it so interestingthat Reiki is definitely the
threshold to that.
Like we're walking through this, the spiritual gate of
transcendence, you know, like weare having that because there's
a version of me that no longerexists, because I chose this

(28:00):
pathway.

Speaker 1 (28:02):
And the flip side of that is, you know, when you are
in that session and you walk outand you feel like you're
floating, it's like every timeyou come back into that
awareness it comes with thisunderstanding that if I can feel
like this now, I could feellike this all the time, there's
nothing stopping me fromchoosing this path versus

(28:22):
choosing a different path, andit becomes this really.
It can be this reallyempowering practice where you
realize again where are thosestories or the thoughts or the
emotions that are holding youback?
And can you use those momentswhere you have had that really
deep connection with Reiki andmaybe a layer's been peeled off
or you've had that moment ofrecognition of that deeper truth

(28:43):
and connection with that energyflowing through all of life,
where you can recognize how canI come back to that more?
What do I need to release tocome back to that more?
And it kind of becomes thisalmost like a carrot on a stick
for your mind, right Of like, ifwe keep following this path, if
we keep walking, then we canfeel that peace again, we can

(29:03):
feel that connection again.
And the more you do it, themore you're training not only
your energy to understand thatit's okay and it's safe to let
things go, but you're alsoteaching your nervous system
that those things are true, thatthis kind of feeling, this kind
of connection is accessible foryou.
And I think that's where theidea of Reiki being a practice

(29:24):
really comes in, and I thinkthis is part of why it can be so
important.
You know, we hear Reikipractitioners all the time talk
about everybody should havetheir Reiki level't really true
to the original forms of Reiki.
The idea that everybody shouldbe able to find that connection

(29:49):
in themselves with this Reikienergy, I think is absolutely
fundamental to, like you weresaying, this kind of wave of
spiritual awakening that we'reseeing and that we're going to
continue to see.
Because, again, when youconnect with Reiki, it's not
that you're connecting with adifferent energy, you're
connecting with life itself, with the universal energy of all

(30:10):
things, and that acts as acatalyst, because as soon as
that spark is lit in you, everytime you keep coming back and
back and back you're kind offanning that spark until it
becomes this beautiful flame, right, this light within you
that can then guide you towhat's a different modality that
maybe you're feeling called toyou or what job do you want to

(30:31):
have or what is your soulcontract or your soul path in
this lifetime?
However, you perceive thisright, that flame within can
help guide you to your next step, no matter what that is for you
on your healing journey.
But we have to have thatawareness first.
We have to have that ability tosit and look within, and that
really is what Reiki is reallygood for.

(30:54):
And it also it makes me laughbecause we had I think it was a
couple weeks ago I was comingback from New York for the from
the Northeast Reiki retreat andI had a flight that got terribly
delayed.
It looks like I was going tomiss my connection and have to
spend the night in the airport, and I was like I don't want to
do that.
So I posted a post in ourFacebook group and I was like,
okay, reiki people, let's Reikithe plane If you feel like it,

(31:18):
see if we can, you know, bendtime a little bit and help the
plane make it on time.
And we had somebody comment andsay I don't think that's how
this works.
Isn't Reiki a healing energy?

Speaker 2 (31:31):
And it's like, no, you know, like, yes, like total
limitation right there.
Yeah, it's like yes, it heals.

Speaker 1 (31:36):
It's amazing.
It's incredible.
That's what we commonly use itfor in the West.
But no, reiki is all things, itis time, it is space, it is the
atoms that make up everything.
It is all that is.
And I feel like that's oftenthat depth that a lot of people
feel like they're missing whenthey come into a Reiki space

(31:57):
where you know they have thatawakening, they have that
catalyst, and then there is thatmoment of you know, there are
the people that it transformsand they keep coming back and
they keep seeing the differencein all the things and it's
amazing.
And then there are the peoplewho do it once and they're like
it didn't really work for me.
Or maybe they do it a couple oftimes and they're like but it's
not getting at that deeper issue.

(32:17):
I think it's often becausewe're missing that depth there
of what it really means to stepinto a space with Reiki, whether
that's your self-practice,whether that's with a
practitioner, that ability tocome back into connection,
knowing that the more we candrop into that connection
whether it's five seconds orfive hours or five years,

(32:37):
doesn't matter the more wereturn again and again and again
to that connection, to thatflame within us, the more it's
going to become easier, but alsosafe and normal and really help
us have that aha moment of Idon't have to hold on to all of
this stuff.
I do get to let it go.
It's safe to let it go, it'sokay, nothing terrible is going

(33:00):
to happen, the world isn't goingto fall apart.
I can let myself be caught inthat net of universal energy by
realizing, you know, having thatexperience, and then realizing
if this is available to me now,it can be available to me always
.

Speaker 2 (33:13):
Yeah, it's always available to us and that is
literally the most beautifulthing is just connecting with it
, being present with it and innot limiting it.
You know you literally canReiki anything and everything
and set the intentions to do soso that the energy will follow

(33:34):
that and, yes, does it have ahigher consciousness when we're,
you know, doing providing Reikion.
You know in a practice andeverything in a session, that
we're not the ones that areleading it, but we're setting
the intentions for what theyneed, so that that's going out
into the universe and how thatenergy is coming through but
it's going to work on there fortheir highest good.

(33:56):
And so, even when you're justsitting in nature and connecting
with Reiki and you're you'rehearing the birds coming through
and you're connecting with theclouds and you're just
connecting with Reiki and you'rehearing the birds coming
through and you're connectingwith the clouds and you're just
connecting with the energeticknowing and being of the earth,
that is Reiki.
Right.
And even if you're doing it inmeditation and you don't have,
you're not attuned to Reiki, you're still connecting to it on

(34:18):
some level.
You're still connecting to it.
It's just being activated on adeeper level when you are
attuned, and I am one that doesbelieve.
You know, if we all were Reiki,if we all became attuned to it,
what amazing world we wouldhave, right?
If every single human has Reikiand actively and intentionally
and consciously knew it, ourworld would be completely

(34:41):
different.
But I think there is a lot ofbias and ego that kind of gets
in the way and people don'tbelieve and they don't trust and
they don't know until they do,and it's kind of like until you
know.
It's like anything that you'relearning, right, you don't know
it till you learn it.
And that's the same thing withReiki.
It's like you don't know tillyou feel it.
You don't know till youexperience it.
And then when you do, it's likewow, experience it.

(35:06):
And then when you do, it's likewow, and it's not because every
person is meant to become apractitioner.
It's like you were saying ifit's to guide you to where
you're supposed to go in life,if it's to guide you in your
healing, if it's to guide youinto this position and this
profession and all of that, ifit's to help you to soften your
heart where it's been hardenedand that's what you receive out
of it, then let that be what youreceive out of it.
It's not about you know somepeople.

(35:29):
They put so much pressure onthemselves, thinking well, I'm
supposed to be doing it this way.
It's like no, I mean, there'scertain ways.
You want to do the symbols andyou want to be, you know, hollow
bone as much as you can be topractice on others, but you also
need to see where it's showingup for you and not chase the
practitioner that you are beingtrained by, because that's their

(35:51):
journey and their path withReiki.
So allow Reiki to reveal yourjourney and your path for
yourself, and that's where themagic comes in.
That's where that intention canreally be strong, because now
you're seeing your worldcompletely open and expand in so
many different ways and it'sbecause you're in alignment with
yourself.

Speaker 1 (36:12):
And that process really involves giving ourselves
permission to have the journey,to let it be our own, because
when we get, like you weresaying, attached to well, this
is how it has been done, or thisis how my teacher does it, or
this is how Izzy does it, orthis is how Chantel does it, or

(36:36):
any of those things, we'veinherently lost that personal
connection.
And I think that in and ofitself is such a powerful thing
the ability to recognize that, yes, reiki is that universal
life force, energy, but as aunique point of consciousness,
as this spiritual being that youare having the human experience
that you are, you have a uniqueand personal connection with
the Reiki energy.
It's going to flow through youand manifest through you

(37:00):
differently than it's going toflow through or manifest through
anybody else, because you arethis unique point of
consciousness and when we cangive ourselves that permission
to be where we are on ourjourney and let whatever shows
up for us be okay, that can beso incredibly freeing,
especially when we take thatleap from things like the hand

(37:21):
positions or these moreprescriptive things that were
often taught in our originalReiki trainings.
They are amazing buildingblocks and they are really
powerful teaching tools and theyare beautiful for helping us
get comfortable with thepractice.
But if it comes to the pointwhere you start to feel that
call to take things a littlemore intuitively, to let things

(37:42):
flow a little bit more, to use asymbol in a way that you
haven't seen anybody else use itbefore, et cetera, et cetera,
do that Because that Reiki, thatfire that you've lit within
yourself, is trying to show youyour next step forward.
And the more that we allowourselves to follow that
guidance, to follow that wisdom, especially when we have the

(38:03):
ability to discern is thiscoming from my mind or is this
truly that deeper part of myselfleading me forward?
And that is again where ourReiki training and that practice
of reconnecting andreconnecting and letting go and
letting go is so important, because it does give us that
discernment of is this littlevoice coming from my mind or my
ego, or is this little voicecoming from that deeper part of

(38:25):
myself?
If it is coming from thatdeeper part, that flame that
you've lit within, the more youfollow it, the more aligned
you're going to become, the morein flow you're going to feel,
the more connected you're goingto be because you're choosing
that spirit, that deeper part ofyou, over the more superficial
mind, ego level of ourselves.

(38:47):
And that's really what we mean, right, when we talk about
setting our ego aside in Reiki.
It's not that the mind is bad,it's not that the ego is bad.
It's just that those levels ofour being are kind of added on
top of our spirit, on top of oursoul, on top of that deeper
truth, and when we can separateourselves from it and realize

(39:07):
that we're not our mind, we'renot our ego, connected and
flowing and able to experiencethings like compassion and
unconditional love and trust andsurrender and truth and all of
those things, none of thoseexperiences that so many of us

(39:29):
are yearning for in our day today, right, that feeling of
peace or calm or connection orcompassion or love or whatever
it is, none of those come fromthe mind, and I think that's why
a lot of people often end upfeeling lost on this path and
why Reiki does serve as such aspiritual threshold for so many
people, because it's this momentof realizing I'm not my mind

(39:53):
and those experiences that I'mlooking for don't come from
trying to get rid of my mind, they don't come from trying to
fight my mind, they don't comefrom trying to unravel
everything so that I finally geta straight shot through.
It comes from being able to setyour mind aside for a moment
and connect with that deeperaspect of you where that love
and peace and compassion isalready existing.
And Reiki is that pathway.

(40:14):
The ability to connect withReiki energy is that catalyst
that allows us to drop into thatdeep connection and then use
that to guide us forward and saywhat is showing up for me.
You know what is next on myhealing path, and can I let that
be okay?
Can I come into such a deeptrust in this energy, in this

(40:35):
universal life force in myspirit and my soul?
Can I come into such a deeptrust of that that I'm willing
to follow it, even if it takesme somewhere that nobody else
has gone before?
Am I willing to trust thisenergy more than the minds of
myself and everybody else?
Is really that question that westart to come down to when we

(40:55):
have that urge to, you know, letgo of the hand positions or try
a new modality or follow theintuitive nudge?
It's that question of what areyou going to trust more in this
moment, your mind or your soul, knowing that neither choice is
good or bad.
It is what it is.
That's the beauty of free will, right.
But Reiki helps us have theawareness to discern those

(41:16):
different parts of ourselves sothat we can truly use our free
will in that way that we havethe freedom of choice to say
this is my mind, this is my soul, which path do I want to follow
in this moment?
And I find that Reiki is reallythe catalyst for that kind of
awareness that then lets uschoose which path we want to
follow, moving forward.

Speaker 2 (41:37):
Yeah, it gives us so many opportunities and it really
is.
In the end, like you're saying,it's our own discernment.
We get to choose right.
It's our free will to say, yes,I want to take this path or I
want to take that path.
And I think, in the end, withReiki is it's going to guide you
, whether you choose it now oryou choose it later, it's going

(42:00):
to guide you.
It's going to loop you all theway back around to where you're
going to fall in love with it.
Anyway, at some point.
You know, and I always find, like people who who are really
involved in like say, in thebeginning they come, they
they're attuned, or they comejust for sessions and then they
leave, and then they come back, like months later, a year later,
they show back up and they'rejust like I need to start this

(42:23):
journey.
It's because it's like thiscalling within them and so at
some point you're going tosurrender to it because it is, I
believe, such a deeperenergetic level than our mind.
Our mind is what's trying tocontrol the situation and say,
no, you can't leave me out of it, you can't.
You have to analyze it, youhave to understand it, you have

(42:44):
to see it for all the components.
And Reiki isn't that, it'sreally just trusting and it is
connecting to our intuition.
So I love when you're talkingabout that, like how deep and
how more expansive our intuitionbecomes right, because you
start to truly trust it and thenknowing that what we're doing
is happening in the quantum aswell, right?
So it's like there's so manylayers and depth to what Reiki

(43:05):
is, and so it's knowing thatwhat we're doing here is
happening in the etheric realm.
It's happening on the spiritualbody.
It's happening on the physicalbody, the mental, the emotional.
It's like all aspects ofourselves are literally being
aligned through all timelines, space and dimensions.
So it's like aligning usthrough all of our different

(43:26):
past lives.
It's aligning us in thiscurrent lifetime.
It's helping us to release andpeel back all of the layers that
need to be, and it's just sopowerful, but I think because it
shows up, like I said earlier,in a softer gentler way
sometimes it feels like it's notas powerful as maybe breathing

(43:46):
deeply or taking in plantmedicine and being like an
instant force through of opening.
But there are times too, witheven those, that I feel like
I've had clients come in and I'mhaving to close up certain
aspects of themselves, liketheir crown chakras, like you
know, or whatever.
And so there are aspects to allmodalities.

(44:09):
I feel that we just need tolearn and trust and study them
before we jump into them andwith that it's just kind of
again doing your discernment.
If you're called to go to othermodalities, do your research
first.
Don't just jump on thebandwagon because suddenly it's
this popular thing to go.
Do you know, and everybody isdoing plant medicine or

(44:31):
everybody's you know, doing DMTor whatever.
It is like research.
It first to make sure that thisis something that's really
going to connect with you sothat as you are integrating
these medicines, you are healingthrough them and you're able to
release what needs to go,because that is should be the
end goal.
It's not just to go and havethat experience, but the end

(44:54):
goal should be that you arehelping yourself to release a
lot of trauma and past pains, and that is the goal itself with
all healing modalities.
But if there's another agenda, then that agenda can actually
have a really negative sideeffect.

Speaker 1 (45:09):
And, you know, I do wonder if we could even take
that a step deeper and say that,in addition to that goal being
to release the trauma and thelayers and the limiting beliefs,
to release the trauma and thelayers and the limiting beliefs,
that we're doing that inservice of the ability to fully
experience this lifetime, we'redoing that in service to this
ability to be present, to havejoy, to experience love and

(45:33):
connection, to really live ourlives instead of living in fear,
instead of living in these kindof bonds that hold us back.
That all of that releasing andthe shedding and the healing and
everything that we're doing, like we talked about in last
week's conversation, is inservice of not that one day
we're going to be healed andperfect and complete and then

(45:54):
we'll get to live life, but thatin the process of that
releasing and that constantrecalibration that we do as
human beings, even in that we'reliving and we're experiencing
and we're able to have that deepconnection to all things.
And this is such a powerfulpoint too of so many of us now

(46:16):
know, if we didn't before.
We now know what it means tofeel isolated right, especially
after the COVID isolated right, especially after the COVID era
right.
A lot of us now know what itmeans to feel that sense of
disconnection from ourselves, from other people, from the
world.
Can you imagine how healing itwould be to be able to feel that
deep connection to all things,in a safe way, to know that you

(46:39):
are part of that net of love andcompassion and truth and flow?
That is the universe?
Because you are, and that'swhat Reiki offers us.
It offers us that opportunityto serve as a catalyst to help
us release, to help us toprocess through our trauma, to
help us let go of all of thethings that are holding us back,
so that we can really fullyexperience this life while we're

(47:03):
living it, instead of lookingback one day and wishing that we
had been more present.
We get to do that now.
We get to live.
We get to smell the flowers andfeel the air, and watch the
fire and hug our friends andconnect with Reiki energy and
feel that sense of bliss andplay in the spirit realm and go
for walks and do our jobs and becreative and all of these

(47:24):
amazing, incredible things that,if we're holding on to all of
these layers, we don't reallyget to experience.
We end up kind of thinking ourway through life instead of
experiencing our way throughlife and for me, that is one of
the most powerful invitations ofReiki.
Is that invitation of yes, youcan drop in, you can feel

(47:44):
connected to all things in asafe and loving way and you can
really experience what's rightin front of you fully and
completely our way through lifeversus feeling our way through
life right and experiencing ourway through life.

Speaker 2 (48:03):
And even with saying that Reiki is a gentle way,
there are sessions that you knowand experiences that we have
where they're not.
It is like sometimes you'reopening that Pandora's box, if
you will, and everything comesup and that's where you know we
do experience different things, like the dark night of the soul
and we're working with ourshadow and all that.
But even with that, being inthe energy of Reiki is still a

(48:26):
softer way of going throughthose experiences, because it's
giving you a tool, it's givingyou an energy to work with
that's going to help you toprocess all the things that
you're going through.
It's going to help you totransmute it.
It's going to help you torelease it.
It's going to help you totransmute it.
It's going to help you torelease it.
It's going to help you tointegrate it right, especially
if you have a mentor, if youhave a teacher who is guiding
you through that.

(48:46):
That's there to help you withthose tools right and to process
through that energy.
And so that is my hope foreveryone who does go to Reiki is
that they do have that supportsystem, and so it is.
If you are working on yourselfand you need somebody else to
assist you, make sure that youfind something you feel
completely connected with, evenif it's like I'm going to have a

(49:09):
session here and there or Ijust need to talk, or whatever
it is like.
Find somebody that you trust, that you can provide your
information to, and that's goingto be able to hold space for
you to be able to release thethings that you need to.
But knowing that this is reallyabout us connecting in this
lifetime, even though we talkabout all the other layers upon

(49:33):
layers.
It is us coming and connectingto our lifetime now, and that's
because that's why we're here.
We're here to experience ourfive senses.
We're here to experience lovein a physical body and to know
like to eat the foods and tastethe things and touch and see,
and to really embody everythingaround us and to embrace it.

(49:55):
And that is what life is about.
And when you are thinking aboutit, when you are processing it
oh, being all up in the headsometimes we really miss so much
because the mind is going totake over and say you just need
to live like this, you don'tneed to look anywhere else Just
go, go, go, go.
And then before you know it,you look up and it's five, 10

(50:15):
years later You're like shit, where have I been?
And it's almost like you'relike shit, where have I been?
And it's almost like you'rewaking up from a dream like
where have I been all this time?
You know, you're just kind ofon autopilot and I think Reiki
brings us out of that energy.

Speaker 1 (50:31):
You're no longer on autopilot, right, you can see
all the things through differentlens absolutely, and and so I
think that really is ourinvitation for you today, after
listening to this conversation,is can you allow yourself to
connect with Reiki?
Not to achieve healing, not tobalance this chakra, not to do X
, y, z, but can you let yourselfconnect with Reiki in a way

(50:53):
that feels like it allows you todrop back into the experience
of life, whether that's, likeChantel said, just sitting by a
tree and listening to the birdsand listening to the nature and
connecting in that way, orthat's doing some Reiki in the
shower and feeling the waterwash over you, or going for a
walk, or sitting in meditationand doing a self-Reiki session,

(51:13):
whatever it is for you, can youallow Reiki today and this week
to be a practice that brings youback into the present, so that
you are experiencing life, rather than confining Reiki to
this healing modality that helpsus in XYZ way, or that we want
to work in XYZ way?

(51:33):
Can you really open yourself upto for the greatest and highest
good, and may this experiencehelp me drop in so that I am
actually experiencing what's infront of me.
What would you add to that, chantel?
And highest good, and may thisexperience help me drop in so
that I am actually experiencingwhat's in front of me.
What would you add to that, chantel?

Speaker 2 (51:47):
I think you said that perfectly and I'm really hoping
that people take thatinvitation to be able to drop
into it today, this week, tofill into it.
And even when you're giving allyour examples, I was thinking,
even if you are in a cubicleright raking your workspace,
give yourself that little bubbleof energy that wraps around you

(52:08):
wherever you work so that youare always surrounded by it.
And if that's raking yourcomputer, if you're on the phone
all day, whatever you do forwork, rake it so that you are
leveling that up.
You're bringing that energyforward so that you're fully
connected all the time andthat's going to bring you
present, that's going to bringyou here and now.

Speaker 1 (52:29):
Yeah, feeling that connection to all things, so
that deeper energy beyond thesurface level stuff that we
collect in the human form, butthat deeper life that is in all
things.
Can you let yourself connect tothat this week?
And that's our invitation foryou?
