Hello, hello and welcome backto another amazing episode of
the Wisdom Rising podcast.
I'm your host for today, isabelWells, and I am so excited and
(01:13):
honored to be sharing with youguys a topic that is very near
and dear to my heart today.
I actually just got back fromNew York where I was honored to
be a presenter and guest teacherat the Northeast Reiki Retreat,
and while I was there, I gave apresentation on
multidimensional healing throughthe chakras, looking at how the
(01:34):
chakras are more than justenergy centers along our spine.
They are actually the bridgebetween our physical, mental,
emotional and spiritual healthand well-being.
It is such a rare opportunityand gift for me to get to
present these things in person, since we are an online community
, and I have to say that it wasone of the most special
experiences of my life.
(01:55):
But it was also fantastic to beable to hear all of the
feedback from the people in theaudience, people who would come
up to me and say you know, I'vebeen teaching about the chakras
for years, but even this gave meinformation that I had no idea
about, or others who told methat this was one of the most
thorough presentations on thechakras that they've ever heard.
And so today, what you're goingto be hearing is an early draft
(02:19):
of the presentation that I gaveat the Northeast Reiki Retreat.
Things shifted and changed as Iwent along, but this recording
today's podcast episode is froman hour-long webinar that I did
as I was preparing this contentto take with me to New York.
Now I will put a little caveaton this and say that typically
this presentation is three hourslong, so this hour-long version
(02:42):
is a compacted version thatjust scratches the surface of
everything that we dive into, knowing that this presentation
is just day one of our SoulRising Shamanic Reiki program.
So, for all of the wealth ofinformation that you're going to
hear in today's episode.
It's just part of orientationfor our Soul Rising course, and
(03:02):
so, if you're interested indiving in even deeper, know that
we are currently acceptingenrollments on the down low.
So if you're listening to thisand you want to dive in, want to
put in your down payment, sendus a message, check out the link
below, but know that thisepisode is really here to help
open your eyes to an entirelynew way of viewing the chakras.
(03:26):
So, like I said, it is arecording from a webinar.
So if you hear references tothe chat or to people talking,
know that that was just part ofthe experience.
If you want to see theslideshow that goes along with
today's podcast, check out thiscompanion video over on our
YouTube channel so that you cansee all of the slides and follow
along with us.
(03:47):
And, of course, as you'll beable to hear in my voice, this
topic is my life's work.
It is one of my great passions, and so I would love to hear
your top takeaways or yourquestions from today's episode.
You can send me an email atisabel at moonrisingmysticscom,

who are walking this path rightalongside you and who are just
as excited to learn and shareabout these topics as you are.
Like I said, you can also findus on YouTube, instagram and on
our Facebook page, where we haveweekly live events on Monday
mornings at 9 am Mountain Time,11 a, and on our Facebook page,
where we have weekly live eventson Monday mornings at 9 am

spiritual topic every week, andwe would love to see you there.
(04:33):
And don't forget, before wedive in, to subscribe to the
podcast so that you can getaccess to new episodes sooner.
Like I said, I am so thrilledto be sharing this presentation
with you on today's show.
If you want to see theslideshow, head over to YouTube.
But I hope that you enjoy thisepisode, that it gives you a new
perspective on the chakras andit gives you a little bit of
(04:55):
hope that we really do have theroadmap to healing inside of us
if we know how to listen.
So, with that said, let's go tothe show.
So welcome.
Welcome to today's presentationon multidimensional healing
through the chakras.
This is one of my passion areas.
I am incredibly passionateabout finding the bridges
(05:16):
between science and spirituality, the places where what we know
in our 3D human lives todayconnects to what we know from
thousands and thousands of yearsof spiritual wisdom.
And so we're really going to befinding the balancing point
between those two today andlooking at how can we use this
(05:36):
balance of information to reallyunderstand ourselves, our
energy, our health andwell-being, to create a true
roadmap to healing through thechakras.
So we're going to be divinginto a completely different view
of the chakras than anythingyou've seen before.
So let's get started.
So, for today's presentation,we're going to be taking two
(05:57):
main perspectives to this, because these are the two
perspectives that I firmlybelieve in and really utilize in
my day-to-day life.
And the first is that of themind.
Right, we all are very familiarwith our mind.
It's very logical, rational, itwants to know the step-by-step
process, it wants evidence-basedproof, aka the scientific part
(06:18):
of ourselves.
And then the second perspectivethat we're going to be using is
the soul perspective, the onethat's intuitive and
experiential and feeling-based,that part of us that knows that
there is more to this world thanwhat meets the eye, and that's
going to be our spiritualperspective.
So we're really going to leaninto both of these in today's
presentation.
(06:39):
So the very first place that weneed to start is by
understanding that everything isenergy, and if you're listening
to this conversation, obviouslyyou already know that this is
true, right?
But we also know this from ascientific perspective, even
though a lot of the time, science tends to sweep the idea
that energy is everything underthe rug.
But when we are in basicchemistry class something that
(07:01):
everybody has to take, right welearn that the world is made up
of atoms.
And what are atoms but protons, neutrons and electrons?
And what are protons, neutronsand electrons but electrical
charges, right?
And so, in other words, everything in our world, from a
scientific perspective, is madeup of an electrical charge, in
other words, of energy.
(07:24):
From a spiritual perspective, wesee this idea across the world
throughout time.
Right, we have chi or ki inChinese philosophy, reiki in
Japanese philosophy, prana, holyspirit, mana, vital force and
many, many more.
This idea that there is anenergy underneath this physical
reality, that there is more herethan meets the eye, is
(07:44):
pervasive, no matter how we lookat it.
And so this is more here thanmeets the eye is pervasive, no
matter how we look at it, and sothis is really going to be the
foundation for our understandingtoday, because what this means
is that for everything in thisphysical world, there is what I
like to call an energeticblueprint.
So quantum physics andspiritual theories both
highlight the existence of anenergetic blueprint for our
physical reality.
(08:05):
Right, we know that everythingis made up of, again, those
atoms.
We know that now we have quarksand all of these subatomic
particles.
We know that beyond what we cansee, feel, hear, taste and
touch, there's this entire depthof reality that, for scientists
, we need a microscope to see.
But for those of us who areleaning into the spiritual side,
(08:26):
we know that we just need toawaken our intuition in order to
be able to feel the energychannels, the chakras, things
like the meridians, the nadis, the sen, right?
So spiritual theories, liketraditional Chinese medicine,
for example, believe that energyflows through our bodies,
through meridians, whereasmodern medicine, or the
scientific side of things, believes that energetic impulses
(08:49):
flow through our nervous system, and there's actually a lot of
really fascinating researchhappening right now about
whether the nervous system andthe meridian map lines up and is
the same thing, and oftentimesyou'll find that the map of the
meridians, when you put it overa map of the nervous system,
actually does line up, which isreally fascinating and really
(09:09):
exciting this idea that, from ascientific perspective, we have
electricity flowing through ournervous system at all times.
That's how we interact with theworld around us.
But from an energeticperspective, we have energy
flowing through us at all timesand we're seeing this place
where the science and thespirituality meet, so we can
understand that for everythingin this physical world there is
(09:30):
an energetic blueprint,something deeper.
Now let's shift gears a littlebit here and start with our
scientific, medical perspectiveby talking about the nervous
system.
Right, so the nervous system, again, our electricity, our
energy, from a medicalperspective, is constantly
flowing through our body, through our nervous system.
(09:51):
We know this, right.
We have our central nervoussystem, which is made up of our
brain and our spinal cord, andthen we have our peripheral
nervous system.
Essentially everything else, right, our arms, our digestive
system, everything else is ourperipheral nervous system.
And our peripheral nervoussystem functions in two main
nervous system states.
You've probably heard of these.
They're big buzzwords.
(10:12):
Right now, we have oursympathetic nervous system,
which is our fight, flight, freeze, fawn response.
This is when our body ispriming us, from a biological
perspective, to run to flee, toget away from danger.
When our nervous system feelslike we're in danger, we tip
into the sympathetic response.
This looks like an increase inour blood pressure, our heart
(10:35):
rate, our stress hormones.
It decreases our immuneresponse.
Hello, getting sick very often, right, and this is activated by
stress, and we're going to talkmore about stress here in a
little bit.
But the spiritual perspective ofthis is that when we are in a
sympathetic nervous system state, our energy is not flowing.
We are out of balance whenwe're in a sympathetic state.
(10:57):
But the other state that ourperipheral nervous system has is
the parasympathetic state.
This is our rest, digest andheal function.
So this is where we see anincrease in blood flow,
digestion, mood and immuneresponse, because all of our
energy is now being redirectedback to our vital organs so that
we can rest and heal.
In other words, there is nopossibility of us healing unless
(11:22):
we are in a parasympatheticnervous system state.
So from a spiritual perspective, this is where we would say
that energy is flowing, ourenergy is aligned and balanced
and moving when we're in aparasympathetic state and I do
have a little note here at thebottom that says that there's
this really interesting theoryright now, polyvagal theory
(11:43):
that's suggesting three states,and there's more information
about that in the workbook ifyou want to check that out.
But for today's purposes we'regoing to focus on these two main
states sympathetic or stress, and parasympathetic or rest.
Now let's talk about sympatheticactivation here for a little
bit, because we all know this asbeing stressed.
(12:04):
Because of the pace of ourlives, our jobs, our thoughts,
the way that our society is setup, almost everyone is pretty
much constantly in a state ofsympathetic activation.
Think about how many times overthe last day, let alone the
last week or year, that you havesaid that you felt stressed or
overwhelmed or tired or anxious.
(12:26):
All of those are states thatare connected to our sympathetic
activation.
And when we have a chronicsympathetic activation, or in
other words when we're stressedfor a long time, it can lead to
a slew of health issues, fromanxiety and depression to sleep
problems, heart disease, headaches, digestive issues and
more.
And what we find is that thesehealth effects actually look a
(12:50):
lot like the health effects thatwe see from the impact of
adverse childhood experiences,or ACEs.
Now, the ACEs were ninespecific childhood events that
have been linked to a number ofdifferent health outcomes, like
you can see here heart disease, depression, substance abuse,
asthma, copd, cancer, diabetes, all kinds of things.
(13:12):
Right.
But we also know that childhoodtrauma as a whole can lead to
these impacts.
Why?
Because childhood trauma leadsto chronic sympathetic
activation.
So let's dive into that alittle bit more.
A sympathetic nervous systemstate, right, is caused by what
we called stress.
Our body knows when it isstressed or not stressed,
(13:35):
depending on the activity of alittle center of our brain
called the amygdala.
You guys might have heard ofthis called the lizard brain.
Right, it's the part of ourbrain that says we're either
safe or we're not safe.
It's a very primal function.
So when our amygdala isactivated, it sends messages to
the hypothalamus, which thencommunicates with the rest of
(13:56):
the body.
Hey, we're stressed.
We need to go into thatsympathetic state so that we can
prepare to make ourselves safe,so we can prepare to get away
from the danger.
When we have a normallyfunctioning amygdala, this
typically works pretty well.
If we're in an actualphysically frightening situation
, our amygdala activates, we getthe stress, we get the
adrenaline we need to getthrough the moment.
(14:19):
But what happens if our amygdalais misfiring or misdeveloped?
This is exactly what happenswhen we've experienced childhood
trauma.
So after childhood trauma, ourbrains change in two primary
ways.
Right, there's an enlargementand an overactivity of the
amygdala, meaning that our brainis constantly firing off red
alerts saying hey, we're indanger.
(14:40):
It also has a shrinkage of thehippocampus, which is the memory
center, which means that it hasless of a capacity to remember
the times that we were safe, toremember the times that things
did go okay.
So this means that traumaliterally primes our brain, and
therefore our nervous system, tolook for danger or to be on
(15:00):
alert for negative experiences, which means that childhood
trauma primes our nervous systemto constantly be in a state of
stress, which is going to leadto all of the adverse health
outcomes.
So why is this important?
Why focus on childhood trauma,right?
In addition to this physicalcomponent of how it impacts our
(15:22):
nervous system, we also knowthat childhood trauma directly
impacts the subconscious mind.
So our subconscious mind isdeveloping between the time
you're born and ages six toeight Some psychological
theories say age 10, but we'llgo with eight for this.
So during this time, your brainis creating a framework for how
to quote unquote accuratelyperceive yourself, the world and
(15:44):
your place in it, meaning thatyour brain is forming the
foundation for how you're goingto perceive the entire rest of
your life.
You can think of this like ablank slate.
Everything that happens fromage zero to eight is like a
paint spatter on this blankcanvas.
It gets embedded into yoursubconscious mind and you take
it on as truth.
(16:04):
So the opinions of your parents, right?
Money doesn't grow on trees.
You have to work hard to playhard things like this.
You're not worth the time andattention, whatever it is, get
turned from an opinion.
It's your parents' opinion,right?
You could recognize that as anadult, but as a child, you don't
know the difference betweentruth and opinion, and so
(16:24):
everything you experience getstaken on as a fact of.
This is just how the worldworks.
This thing that I experiencedis the absolute truth, which
means that our childhoodexperiences are the beginning of
limiting beliefs and the seatof our core assumption.
Now, limiting beliefs are reallyimportant for this conversation
, because limiting beliefs arebeliefs about ourselves, others
(16:47):
and the world around us thatrestrict us from reaching our
full potential.
Right, so they're false beliefs.
These aren't true, but theseare the things that tell us I'm
not enough, I'm not worthy, I'mnot lovable, I'm a waste of time
, I'm a waste of space, I don'tdeserve this right.
These voices that are in ourheads that at some point we're
trying to keep us safe.
(17:08):
More often than not, they'rethe voice of a parent who was
doing the best they could in themoment.
But because, as children, weinternalize everything, every
experience gets taken on as areflection of us right.
However, limiting beliefs dojust that.
They limit us.
They keep us stuck in cycles ofself-sabotage and constriction
(17:29):
and cognitive dissonance andemotional turmoil and, because
of the activation of ouramygdala, they keep us stuck in
a sympathetic cycle.
So how does this work?
How does this work?
We know that our childhoodtrauma primes our brain to be in
a stress response, but whatalso happens is that, because
(17:50):
our subconscious mind forms theframework for how we see the
world, that means thateverything that we experience in
adult life gets passed throughthis filter of our subconscious
mind, and our subconscious mindchooses is this situation safe
or unsafe?
Now imagine if that frameworkis littered with beliefs like
I'm not enough, I'm not safe, Idon't deserve this, I'm not good
(18:12):
enough, I shouldn't even try, what's going to happen?
More and more and more of ouradult experiences are going to
get flagged as dangerous oruncomfortable or unsafe or not
okay, which means that ourlimiting beliefs are those
triggers.
Right, when we talk about beingtriggered, those are our
(18:32):
limiting beliefs that are notonly triggering this emotional
cascade of believing that we'relimited, that we're not good
enough, but they're alsotriggering this physical cascade
of sympathetic activation andstress which is going to lead to
all of the negative healthoutcomes on the physical and
psychological level.
So we know this, right.
(18:52):
We know that our childhoodexperiences and the limiting
beliefs they create set the tonefor our beliefs and choices as
adults.
And it's important here to notethat, even though the majority
of this research has gonetowards childhood trauma so
truly traumatic experiences wecan also define trauma at any
time that we had to denyourselves, limit ourselves or
(19:13):
make ourselves smaller in orderto feel safe, when the brain
felt like we were not inherentlysafe and we needed to do
something to make up for that.
That is interpreted in thebrain as trauma.
That is interpreted in thebrain as trauma.
That is interpreted in thebrain as what becomes a limiting
belief.
Right?
So all of our childhoodexperiences are impacting this
(19:34):
and forming the blueprint forour worldview, our neural
networks, our self-sabotagingcycles and our stress response.
So we know that it impacts uspsychologically.
We know it impacts usphysically through our nervous
system.
But what about energetically?
And this is where the chakrascome in.
So the chakras are our energycenters within the body.
They're originally found in theVedas of Hindu philosophy, and
(19:57):
many, many versions of thechakras exist across cultures.
Some cultures have five primary, some have nine, some have 15.
There are actually hundreds ofchakras throughout the body, but
typically, especially inWestern culture, we see them
represented as seven primaryenergy centers along the spine.
What's interesting about thisinterpretation is that, from a
(20:18):
physical standpoint, if we lookat the nervous system, there is
actually a bundle of nerves, what we call a nervous system,
plexi or plexus within the bodyat the exact location of each of
these seven chakras, meaningthat from an electrical
perspective, from a medicalperspective, these seven places
in our body have a heightenedenergetic, electrical feel and
(20:43):
activity to them, becausethere's actually a center of the
nervous system at these points,right?
So medicine is finally startingto catch up with the fact that,
hey, there's something to thiswhole energy thing.
What are the chances that theseseven chakras that we see all
the way back in the Vedas arenow being seen from a medical
perspective as bundles in thenervous system?
(21:05):
So suddenly already we see thatthe chakras are a lot more than
just energetic.
They're also physical.
Now what's really interestingabout this is that when we look
at our chakra system, our chakradevelops very much like we
develop as human beings, right?
So this doesn't mean that youdon't have a crown chakra until
you're 43, right, we always haveall of our chakras.
(21:28):
But each chakra takes on what Ilike to call its fingerprint,
its energetic blueprint, inseven year increments.
So, from ages zero to seven,we're really forming the shape
of our root chakra for thislifetime and on and on.
So, age eight to 14, we seesacral chakra develop 15 to 21,.
We see solar plexus chakra, andon and on.
So, age eight to 14, we seesacral chakra develop 15 to 21,.
We see solar plexus chakra, andon and on.
(21:49):
And this makes a lot of sensewhen we think about what we're
doing as a human being.
In those age ranges, right Fromzero to seven, what's being
developed?
Our subconscious mind and ourroot chakra represents our
foundation From ages 15 to 21,.
What are you primarily focusedon?
Figuring out who you are inthis world.
And what does solar plexusdevelop?
(22:10):
It shows us our confidence, ourmotivation, our sense of self,
right when we get to crownchakra and we have age 43 to 49,
.
What often happens when we're 49?
We have a midlife crisis.
Why?
Because we've gone through allthe chakras and we tend to start
over and go back and see whatneeds developed, what needs
(22:30):
honed.
That's why many peopleexperience their first big
spiritual awakening around theage of 49, because it's this
time when we get to go back andreassess how our energy field is
working and shifting.
Again, that doesn't mean thatwe don't always have each chakra
.
It just means that each one isbeing shaped and developed at
these times.
So we can see already that here, root chakra from ages zero to
(22:54):
seven, is corresponding to oursubconscious mind.
Now, what's really interestingabout this is here's where we
start to see how it all beginsto connect together.
Right, we start to see that ourchakras are connected to our
nervous system, that each centerin our nervous system is
connected to our spine, to ourbrain.
We know that our brain is thecenter of our limiting beliefs
(23:14):
and our thoughts.
And so suddenly, our chakrasystem becomes a lot more than
just an energetic system.
We start to see that everychakra connects to something
physical.
It has a physical response, ithas organs that it's responsible
for, but it also has ourpsychological connection, our
emotional connection.
So what does this mean?
(23:35):
This means that when weunderstand the chakras, truly
understand them, not just asroot chakra is a glowing red
ball at the base of my spine, but truly understand what root
chakra means symbolically.
How does it connect to ourphysical body?
How does it connect to ourpsychology?
What parts of us, what layer ofour being is connected with
(23:56):
this root chakra?
This is when we start to formour blueprint for healing.
So let's take it one step at atime.
Right, hopefully by now we'reall a little familiar with the
chakras.
Right, we know root chakra isat the base of the spine.
It's red.
We know it's probably connectedto the element of earth.
We know it's our foundation, our safety, security.
(24:18):
But what might we not knowabout it?
Right, root chakra againconnects to our subconscious
mind.
It's looking to have ourphysiological needs met.
Are we safe?
It's core limiting belief, thatlimiting belief that gets
wedged in there is I'm not safe.
That's a root chakra fear.
When our root chakra is balanced, this can look like financial
(24:40):
stability.
We're able to trust, we'represent, we're grounded, we feel
safe.
Our instinct in our root chakrais to have right.
We want to have thosephysiological needs met.
Are we safe?
Do we have a solid foundation?
Do we feel secure?
So what does imbalance look likein the root chakra?
(25:01):
Because again, once we knowthese signs and symptoms, we can
start to connect it on a deeperlevel.
So, from a psychologicalstandpoint, an imbalanced root
chakra is going to look like themonkey mind going and going.
You're constantly fearful andanxious.
You feel unsafe, physically oremotionally.
You have a victimhood mindsetor a state of lack there's never
(25:22):
enough.
You have financial difficulties, you have abandonment fears,
you have body dysmorph orfeeling uncomfortable in the
physical world.
So you can see here that whenwe feel unsafe, when we feel
insecure, not in self-worth, butin the world, when we don't
feel secure, that's a sign thatour root chakra is imbalanced.
(25:44):
From the physical perspective, this is going to look like
broken bones or sprains, infections in our feet and
toenails, problems with ourlower back, our hips, knees, our
ankles, our legs, unknownbruises and bumps, because we're
not fully in our physical body.
We might have anxiety, nightmares hoarding or
overeating, again trying to holdon because you feel like
(26:06):
there's not enough.
And also sciatica.
Sciatica is an interesting onebecause often we see that one
directly correlated to financialdifficulties.
So what's the importance ofunderstanding these right?
And these are just a few of thesigns of imbalance.
This means that let's say thatyou start to get an infection in
your big toe.
By the end of this presentation, you're going to understand a
(26:26):
little bit about the flow ofenergy and you'll be able to say
okay, something in my big toethat is connected to my root
chakra, which is connected to myfeelings of safety and security
how am I not feeling safe rightnow?
How am I not grounding myself?
What does my nervous systemneed to feel safe?
What other emotions are comingup around the idea of safety?
(26:48):
And suddenly you've opened upthis roadmap to say I know that
that big toe infection is morethan just an infection, because
everything manifests in thephysical world after the
energetic world.
So this means that anyimbalance that we see physically
happened first in the energeticand it's just presenting itself
(27:08):
in our physical body and so wecan walk it back from our
physical and say I know that toeinfection is more than just a
toe infection.
So what is it symbolizing?
What is my energetic, psychological self crying out
for attention?
What does it need?
To come back into balance.
This is where it getsinteresting.
To come back into balance, thisis where it gets interesting.
(27:29):
So let's move on to sacralchakra.
Right, we all know sacralchakra.
It's right below our navel.
It's connected to our kidneys, our adrenals, our sexual organs.
It's usually orange.
Its element is water.
We connect it with creativityand sensuality and sexuality.
Right.
But our sacral chakra also seeksto have its emotional needs met
(27:50):
.
It wants to feel safe to playand experience this physical
world.
Its core belief is that it'sworthless.
I am worthless, I am not worththis life.
You can't find that pleasure inlife.
And its instinct is to feel.
It wants to experienceeverything.
A balanced sacral chakraexperiences fun and play,
(28:14):
sexually active and still ableto orgasm and enjoys the
pleasures of life.
So using our five senses toenjoy this physical experience
is a very sacral chakraexperience, as is creativity,
the ability to be creative.
So when our sacral chakra isimbalanced, this is going to
look like victimhood mentality.
Maybe we've suffered fromemotional or sexual abuse.
(28:37):
Childhood wounding and innerchild wounds oftentimes live in
our sacral chakra.
Sexual imbalance, a lack ofcreativity, rigidity in our
personality or an inability togo with the flow and addiction.
Physically, we're going to seeproblems with our kidneys and
adrenal glands, bladder orurinary tract infections.
(28:57):
Our saliva and our blowing ofthe saliva is connected to our
sacral chakra, our blood andcirculatory system again
thinking about that waterelement our sexual organs, the
fluids associated with those, our lower back and sacrum area,
and also infertility.
These are all signs that yoursacral chakra, that this second
(29:20):
level of self, your sacral self,is calling out for attention.
So then, what about solar plexuschakra?
Solar plexus is located betweenthe navel and the sternum right
.
It's connected to our digestiveorgans.
It vibrates yellow.
Its element is fire and we seethat in our digestion right.
Our digestion is our ability toalchemize our food into
(29:42):
nutrients and to release that.
When we think of solar plexus,we think of our identity, our
motivation, our purpose.
It wants to know its value andworth.
Our solar plexus core, limitingbelief is I'm not enough.
I think almost everyonestruggles with this belief at
some point, and that is deeplyrooted in the solar plexus
(30:02):
chakra.
When it's balanced, it feelsconfident, motivated and
inspired in daily life.
You have a healthy sense ofself and you feel passionate and
purposeful.
The solar plexus instinct is toact.
You want to go out into theworld and take action.
You want to do things, you wantto follow your passion and
purpose.
(30:23):
But when it's imbalanced from apsychological perspective, we're
going to have a hard timedigesting life.
We're going to hold on togrudges.
We're going to hold on toconversations.
We're going to constantly goover and over.
What did they say?
What could I have said?
What could I have done better?
You're going to be afraid ofbeing judged or rejected by
other people.
You might feel anger andfrustration.
That's that fire building up inour system.
(30:45):
You might be indecisive, a lackof fire, unable to know which
path to follow.
You might have low energy orself-esteem, narcissism and
pride as well.
And comparitis.
So if you're constantlycomparing yourself to other
people, it's because we don'tfeel like we're enough and
that's a solar plexus issue.
Physically, we're going to seeissues with our stomach, with
(31:07):
our intestines again,constipation, diarrhea.
How's that fire in yourdigestive system?
Connections to our liver andtherefore our skin, our pancreas
, spleen, adrenals Again, adrenals is one of these organs
that there's a little bit ofdebate about.
Is it a sacral chakra organ ora solar plexus organ?
So feel into it for you, butalso your diaphragm and your
(31:30):
vagal nerve endings.
Now what's really interestingabout this connection here is
that your vagus nerve is theprimary nerve that activates
your parasympathetic nervoussystem response.
It's also the nerve thatinnervates your diaphragm.
So anytime you take really deepbelly breaths, you are
activating your parasympatheticnervous system because it's
(31:51):
activating your vagus nerve.
Now what's really fascinatingabout that is, 99% of the time,
like I said, most people hold onto some kind of limiting belief
about I'm not enough, which wetalked about, how those limiting
beliefs are the triggers thattip us over into an imbalanced
or sympathetic energetic state.
(32:12):
So what's really interesting isthat the thing that causes most
of our stress I'm not enough, that belief is also housed in
the same place.
That can fix that.
That has the nerve activationto bring us back into a state of
rest and digest.
It's just a fun littleconnection.
So what about our heart chakra?
This chakra that's locatedright here at the center of our
(32:34):
sternum.
It's green, it's connected withair, it's connected with love
and connection and compassion.
It seeks to belong, to connectand to love the people around it
.
Its core limiting belief is thepeople around it.
Its core limiting belief is I'munlovable.
Its instinct is to love and sowhen it feels like it doesn't
deserve that love, that I'munlovable, that others can never
(32:55):
love me, it feels cut off.
But when it's balanced, ourheart chakra is able to give and
receive love, compassion andsupport.
It feels connected andsupported.
It doesn't have an issuereaching out for help or giving
help in a balanced way.
But when it's imbalanced, wesee heartbreak, betrayal and
envy.
(33:15):
We see grief and loss is big.
In the heart chakra we see alack of compassion or
over-empathizing, taking onother people's issues and
feelings as your own.
We see relationship or trustissues, an imbalance in our
ability to nurture others.
Either we're giving, giving, giving way too much or we're
taking, taking, taking Againthat grief.
(33:38):
We see issues with receiving, which is on our left side, and
giving, which is our right side.
We'll talk about that morelater.
This is also our internalcapacity and stamina.
So how much of life are youable to hold?
How much are you able to showup for the world.
That energetic capacity isoften heart chakra because it
represents our balance.
(34:00):
Physically, our heart chakra isconnected to our heart and our
circulatory system, our thymusand our immune system, our lymph
system, our breasts, our lungsand our arms, elbows and hands
are all connected to our heartchakra.
So if we see imbalance ordis-ease in any one of these
physical centers, we know thatit's a deeper sign that our
(34:21):
heart chakra is calling out forattention.
So what about throat chakra?
Rightates blue.
It's right here with our throat, our tonsils, our thyroid, our
ears.
Its element is ether or space, and when we think of throat
chakra we think of communicating, listening and expressing right
(34:42):
.
So it seeks to communicate, toexpress itself, but also to hear
, to listen to, to be heard.
Its core limiting belief is I amunable to speak my truth.
Now what's really interestingis, once we get past heart
chakra and we get into theseupper chakras, these limiting
beliefs start to be an add-on toa deeper limiting belief.
So the deeper into our chakrasystem we go, the deeper into
(35:07):
the roots of our limitingbeliefs we get.
Again, thinking about how thatI'm not enough is often the
deepest part for a lot of people, and so you'll notice how I am
unable to speak my truth is athroat chakra limiting belief.
But when we really start topeel that away, oftentimes it's
that you don't feel like youdeserve to speak your truth.
(35:29):
You don't think that you canspeak your truth without being
rejected, which is solar plexus.
You don't feel safe to speakyour truth, which is root chakra
.
So these upper chakras start tobe connected to our lower
chakras because, again, thechakra system is like a zipper.
It zips up and all of theenergy is shared between all of
the chakras.
It's all connected.
When our throat chakra isbalanced, we're able to speak
(35:52):
our truth compassionately whilelistening to others, and its
instinct is to speak again, tocommunicate and express.
When our throat chakra isimbalanced, we see an inability
to communicate clearly.
We might be using wishy-washywords.
We might have imbalancedcommunication, talking too much,
listening too little.
We might be interrupting othersor find ourselves being
(36:15):
constantly interrupted.
We might be over or undersharing and we might not want to
hear others' opinions, or wemight think that other people's
opinions are more valid thanours, that they deserve to be
heard more.
From a physical standpoint, wemight see jaw issues, such as
(36:36):
TMJ.
We might see issues with thethroat, the thyroid or sinuses.
So chronic strep, hello throatchakra.
Vertigo is also connected withour throat chakra because
vertigo happens with the littlebones in the inside of our ears,
and ears are connected to ourthroat chakra.
We might see thyroid imbalance, hearing problems or issues with
our teeth and gums.
(36:57):
So what about third eye?
Third eye is located betweenthe eyebrows, right.
So we have our brain, ourpineal gland, which is this
amazing gland that activateswhen we meditate, when we're in
theta brainwave states.
That takes us to states ofspiritual transcendence.
Third eye chakra is oftenpurple or indigo and its element
is light.
So we can think spirituality, insight and knowledge.
(37:20):
When we think of the third eye,it seeks to perceive and to
know.
It wants to know things, itwants to pull it apart, it wants
to understand.
The core limiting belief here isI'm not intuitive, I can't
connect.
Notice again how that might bea cover for a deeper limiting
belief like I'm not enough, Idon't deserve to connect, I'm
(37:41):
not worth being intuitive.
When it's balanced, we're ableto meditate and connect with our
intuition.
We're able to see the worldaround us beyond what meets the
eye and we can use our spiritualgifts in a balanced way,
whatever those spiritual giftsare for us, its instinct is to
know, wants to know, but whenit's imbalanced, we might find
(38:02):
ourselves being reallyclosed-minded.
We might not dream or we mighthave an excess of dreams and be
constantly up through the nightgetting messages and downloads.
We might be unable to daydreamor we might lose ourselves in
our daydreams.
We might only believe in facts.
Right, we might not wantanything to do with spirituality
, we just want to see the proof, and we might not be able to
(38:24):
connect or hear or trust ourintuition.
We're disconnected from thatsense of spiritual sight.
Or it could be on the oppositeside and our spiritual gifts are
turned up to a hundred percent, they're constantly on.
We feel overwhelmed andoverloaded.
Notice how each of the chakrashere has an imbalance on either
side of the pendulum swing.
(38:45):
It can be overactive, with ourspiritual gifts turned on to 100
and never turning off, or itcan be completely underactive,
where we just want the science,we just want the facts.
And every chakra is like this.
It has this pendulum swing.
So from a physical perspective,we might get vision problems,
migraines and headaches.
We might see mental disorders, especially personality disorders
(39:08):
or bipolar disorder.
We might have issues withhormonal regulation, we might
see sleep disorders,hallucinations, etc.
These are all physical signsthat our third eye needs some
support.
And then we get to our crownchakra.
So our crown chakra is locatedat the top of our head.
It's connected with our brainand also the pineal chakra is
located at the top of our head.
It's connected with our brainand also the pineal gland, but
(39:30):
sometimes the pituitary gland.
It vibrates violet or white, depending on which school of
thought, and its element isconsciousness itself
Consciousness, all that is.
When we think of crown chakra,we think of divinity, wisdom and
higher connection.
Our crown chakra seeks to beconnected with the divine and
(39:51):
its core, limiting belief is Iam alone in the universe.
There is nothing out there tosave me.
There's nothing out therethat's greater than me.
I am alone.
When it's balanced, our crownchakra allows us to trust and
connect to something bigger thanourselves, to feel like there
is magic in the world around usand that there is more to this
world than meets the eye, thatthere's a sense of purpose and a
(40:14):
bigger picture and its instinctis to just be.
You've probably experienced thisbeing when you're deep in
meditation.
But when we're imbalanced inour crown chakra, we'll see
disassociation.
So we're going to be reallyflighty and out of our bodies.
We might feel really ill atease in our bodies.
It might be really hard for usto ground.
(40:35):
We might be apathetic towardslife, that sense of there's no
point, there's no point to this.
That apathy is a sign of crownchakra imbalance.
We might also take on theworld's problems as our own.
So we're internalizingeverything, because if there's
nothing greater than you, thenit's up to you to control it all
.
We might have difficultyfocusing, we might live in the
(40:57):
clouds, we might often be late,or again we might feel
completely disconnected from anykind of spiritual connection.
Physically, this is where we seeAlzheimer's or memory issues,
learning disabilities, epilepsy.
We see mental illness,depression, apathy,
schizophrenia those sides of themental illness spectrum.
(41:18):
We also see issues with ourinternal clock or our circadian
rhythms, and this again isconnected to our pituitary gland
, which helps with our hormonalregulation.
So our circadian rhythms arethe things that say you're going
to wake up at this time, you'regoing to go to sleep at this
time and we're going to regulateall of your hormones in between
to make sure that you're onthat 24-hour cycle that's going
(41:39):
to help you rest and digest andbe balanced.
So we know all of this nowright, this is a really brief,
snappy overview of the chakras, and what I love about this is
that we can take this evendeeper.
In fact, in the Soul Risingcourse, I spend four months
teaching about just the lowerfour chakras.
(42:00):
I'm actually writing a bookright now, a whole book
dedicated to each chakra and towhat these connections are.
So you can imagine that whatwe're covering here in this hour
is just the tip of the iceberg.
But what's important tounderstand, what's important to
take away from this, is knowingthat our chakras aren't just
these energetic balls that wecan feel when we do Reiki.
(42:22):
They are so much more.
They're connected to ourphysical health.
They're connected to ourpsychological health.
They are a wealth ofmetaphorical and symbolic wisdom
that, when we learn how tolisten, when we learn how to
look at our energetic system andunderstand what it's saying, it
can unlock this roadmap tohealing.
And here's how, here's how wetie it all together and start to
(42:44):
heal.
Before we get to that, it'simportant to understand the
direction of energy flow.
Now, why is this important?
You'll remember earlier when Isaid that maybe you had an
infection in your big toe.
This is where we ask which bigtoe, which side?
And this is important because, just like everything has
(43:06):
metaphor and symbolism,everything is energy.
Everything has a deeper meaningthan just what meets the eye.
Our energy flows in specificways that we can learn to decode
.
So the left side isrepresentative of receiving
feminine energy and past.
The right side isrepresentative of giving
(43:27):
masculine and future.
The front of our body and thetop of our body is connected to
the future, and the back of ourbody, or the bottom of our body,
is connected to the past.
We can even take this furtherand look for the symbolism in
things like our joints, whichsymbolize our flexibility, or
our shoulders, you know, carrying the weight of the world
(43:49):
.
Our shoulders represent oursense of responsibility.
Our legs represent our abilityto move through life.
There are people who havededicated their entire lives to
mapping out how the bodysymbolizes this energetic flow.
Louise Hay is a really famousexample.
But what does this mean, right?
So this means that if we lookat something that we're
(44:10):
experiencing physically, we candecode it to walk it back to
exactly what in the energetic oremotional realm is causing this
physical imbalance.
So here's an example.
If we have an issue with theright foot.
We know that the right side ismasculine, right.
We know that our legs representour ability to move confidently
(44:33):
forward.
We know that our right side isthe future, but we also know
that the bottom of our body isconnected to the past.
So when we put all thesetogether, an issue with our
right foot may represent a pastexperience, because it's lower
in the body, with a prominentmasculine figure, because it's
that right side, that masculineside, that's holding us back
(44:55):
from confidently living life, because it's holding us back
from being able to walk, it'sholding us back from being able
to function and move forwardAgain, that future orientation
of the right side in our life.
So, suddenly, an issue with ourright foot, like a sprain or
you know, a stress fracture thatwe're like oh, I just, you know
, I stress, fractured my foot, Iused it too much.
No, no, no, why?
(45:17):
My favorite question to ask, with people who are struggling
to see how one little injury orone little physical symptom can
be indicative of somethinggreater, is to ask two people
fall down the stairs right.
One of them breaks their hip,one of them breaks their wrist.
Why, why is there thatdifference there.
It's because where our energyis weaker, our physical body
(45:40):
will be weaker Again.
Going back to that idea of anenergetic blueprint where our
energy is strong, we arephysically strong, and so the
places that we see imbalance ordis-ease again, dis-ease not
flowing in our physical body aresigns of something deeper in
our energy.
So let's do another one.
Let's say you have a chronicissue with your left lung.
(46:01):
We know that the left side isour feminine side, our receiving
side, the one that wants toallow us to receive nutrients
and support.
We also know that our lung isconnected with our heart chakra,
which is our sense ofconnection and compassion and
love and support.
So a chronic issue with yourleft lung may indicate stuck
(46:22):
feelings of grief again hello, heart chakra from the past left
side and an inability to receivesupport for that right Again,
that receiving.
Once again we can start to seehow the little things become
maps to the bigger issues.
So how do we heal?
We're going to heal on threelevels energy, body and mind.
(46:45):
So when we look at our energy,we're talking about our chakras.
We know that when energy isflowing through our energetic
system, that's when weexperience health and well-being
.
We also know from a physicalperspective that when energy is
flowing, that's when we're in aparasympathetic nervous system
response or a healing state.
(47:05):
So how do we get into abalanced flowing state in our
energy?
The first thing is we getcurious.
We get curious to understandwhy isn't this chakra flowing?
What's impacting it?
What does it feel like to me?
What does it feel like whenit's flowing and how does it
feel differently now?
And then we start to understandwhat are the tips and
(47:26):
techniques that work for you toconnect to the essence of that
chakra.
So, with root chakra, we'regoing to look at grounding or
earthing.
What's going to help you feelreally safe and secure?
Can you go walk barefoot in thegrass?
Can you organize your house andget your physical space again,
physical needs, to a place wherethey feel really good and
(47:47):
supportive?
Sacral chakra we're going toget creative.
Can you play with fingerprints?
Can you go dancing?
Can you sing and dance around?
Can you get creative?
Solar plexus chakra this iswhere I am, journaling comes
into play.
So journaling the opposite ofyour limiting beliefs.
I am strong, I am creative, Iam enough, I am loved, I am, I
(48:07):
am.
I am Affirming who you are in apositive way, or in other words
, what's going to help you feelmotivated and strong in your
sense of self?
In heart chakra I've got theseflipped here In heart chakra,
we'll see breath work right.
So can you use your lungs, canyou open your heart space to
(48:28):
move that energy through yourbreath?
What's going to help you feelopen and connected?
In throat chakra, chanting orhumming.
Third eye chakra, visualizingand daydreaming, leaning into
your imagination.
And in crown chakra, meditating, getting connected with spirit.
Now the question here might behow is, for example, humming
(48:50):
going to help me heal mychildhood trauma?
How is humming going to help meheal a limiting belief?
Here's the thing Because ourlimiting beliefs are impacting
our energy flow, we often holdourselves back from doing the
things that would restore thatenergy flow because of the
limiting belief.
Again, we create this littletriangle here and so if we can
(49:10):
cut to the thing that we're notdoing to restore the energy flow
, if we can start restoring theflow, we're going to prove to
our mind that that limitingbelief it wasn't true.
We can have flow here.
We can show up here.
We can do it in spite of thelimiting belief and see that
everything is fine the more ourenergy starts to flow, the more
(49:31):
we start to see that it's okayfor it to flow.
In that way, we're kind ofcutting the loop, cutting the
circuit and getting back tobasic, getting back to that
state of energy flow and from amental level, we also need to
look at that limiting beliefright.
So we want to get curious aboutfinding the limiting belief.
(49:52):
So when we notice that we'retriggered, when we notice that
we're upset or having adifficult time, this is where we
can start asking ourselvesthose deeper questions of what
am I feeling right now?
What am I worried about?
What am I afraid of?
What does that say about me?
Again, we're looking for howthis circumstance in your life
whether it's your spouse sayingsomething to you that triggered
(50:13):
you, or you're moving and you'rereally wildly stressed about it
and your response is out ofproportion when you're triggered
you're going to look at what isit about this situation that
triggered me and why?
What am I worried about?
How did I internalize that?
What do I believe about myselfin this situation?
What's the I am statementunderneath this?
(50:35):
So, if your spouse saidsomething that really triggered
you, and you sit down and youthink through, what am I worried
about.
What do I believe about myself?
It might be well, he said thisand it made me feel like I'm not
doing enough.
It made me worry that he'sgoing to leave me because I'm
not enough.
And there's our I am statementI'm not enough.
And then we can think about whenwas the first time that I
(50:57):
remember thinking or feelingthis way?
Where does this belief comefrom?
And we realize, oh, you knowwhat I used to feel that way all
the time with my mom.
I never did enough to make hernotice me.
I never felt like I earned herlove.
She taught me that love wasconditional.
And so now I'm worried that ifI'm not doing enough, my
partner's gonna leave me.
(51:21):
And suddenly we see that thatone little comment from our
spouse was so much more to ourminds and to our energy.
And so we wanna find the corelimiting belief.
And then we want to work onreleasing that by going back to
those energetic states, to ourchakras, and doing things that
are going to reinforce thepositive belief.
So once we find that limitingbelief, we can say you know what
(51:41):
?
I can let that go, I can chooseto believe something new
instead and we can put apositive belief in its place and
pair it with an action toactivate our energy in that
space.
So I'm not enough.
We know that is a solar plexuslimiting belief.
So what we're going to do iswe're going to say my new belief
is I am enough and I'm going topair that with the I am
(52:04):
journaling to help increase myenergy flow in that particular
area of life, in that particulararea of self.
I'm going to increase theenergy flow there to help seal
in this healing.
And because we know that thatprocess of getting triggered and
figuring it out is going topush us into a stressed space,
we also want to be payingattention to our body, to our
(52:27):
nervous system, by moving from asympathetic or stressed state
to a parasympathetic or balancedstate.
So we can do this by workingthrough our limiting beliefs
again, getting rid of thosetriggers, working through those
and tying the knots by balancingour energy, because again, we
know when our energy is flowingour nervous system is flowing as
(52:47):
well.
So when we do those activatingactions for our chakras.
But we can also take care ofour physical body.
Again, going back to the basicshow are we eating, are we
exercising, are we gettingenough sleep?
We can also never underestimatethe importance of three deep
breaths.
Do you remember when we were insolar plexus and we were
(53:07):
talking about why belly breathsactivate the parasympathetic
nervous system because of itsconnection to that big vagus
nerve?
Three deep breaths there'sactually studies on this are
enough to take you from asympathetic stress state to a
parasympathetic or balancedstate.
This is also where somatic workcomes really handy, or even
just putting your hands on yourheart chakra and being present
(53:30):
with yourself.
When we can put all of thesetogether, we start to see this
roadmap to healing right.
So, again, this is a lot ofinformation.
That's why we have the workbook.
That's why we have chances tocontinue learning about this,
because this is just the tip ofthe iceberg.
You can come back to thispresentation again and again,
(53:50):
but what I want you to walk awaywith from today is this
understanding that our nervoussystem is the gateway between
our body and our mind.
When we understand how it getstriggered, we can understand how
to heal it.
We want to understand thatlimiting beliefs impact us on
all levels, not just ourthoughts, but on the physical,
(54:11):
mental, emotional and energeticsides, which means that while
they impact us on all levels.
We can also change them on alllevels right.
We can change them by workingwith our energy and our chakras.
We can change them by workingthrough our mental and emotional
symptoms.
We can change them by workingthrough our mental and emotional
symptoms.
We can change them by takingcare of our physical body, by
(54:32):
learning how to interpret andread our energy fields, again,
by being able to look at thatchronic lung issue and say, oh,
you know what I'm actuallyholding onto grief that I never
processed and I'm not lettingmyself receive support.
Once you have that awareness, you can then start taking
conscious actions, makingconscious choices to choose
(54:52):
differently, to restore balance,to process the emotion and the
limiting belief and to step intoa new, healed reality.
And our chakras offer us thisroadmap to healing on all levels
through their connection withall levels of our being.
This also means that healingcan be simple, so long as we
(55:15):
know how to listen.
How often do we feel like we'rechasing our tails trying to
figure out how do I fix this?
How do I fix this?
What do I do when we understandhow to read our energy and we
can bring it back down to basicsof?
I have this lung issue.
It's on my left side.
What does left side symbolize?
It symbolizes my heart chakra.
It symbolizes feminine energy,receiving energy.
So where am I holding on to theemotions associated with heart
(55:39):
chakra, to grief, to feelingdisconnected?
Where am I not allowing myselfto receive or like in that
situation where your spouse sayssomething that really triggers
you?
What am I feeling?
Where am I not allowing myselfto receive or like in that
situation where your spouse sayssomething that really triggers
you?
What am I feeling?
Where am I feeling?
Well, it feels like a punch tothe stomach.
Okay, what's the stomach?
That's my solar plexus, that'smy center of motivation.
What am I feeling about thatsituation?
(56:01):
What is it that I'm thinkingwhile I'm sitting here, thinking
I'm so mad at him because I'mactually really just scared that
he's going to leave.
Why am I scared?
He's going to leave?
Because I feel like I'm notenough.
When we can see theseconnections, when we can
understand our energy, what eachchakra symbolizes, how the
energy flow works again, leftversus right side, top versus
bottom and how that connects toour physical nervous, physical
(56:26):
nervous system states and ourpsychological thoughts, healing
can become really simple, because then we can realize what
I need to do is sit with mygrief and let it be processed.
What I need to do is activatemy solar plexus a little bit
more and do something that'sgoing to help me stand in my
confidence.
Suddenly, instead of justputting band-aid on top of
band-aid on top of band-aid,you're actually getting to the
(56:49):
root Now.
Just because it's simpledoesn't mean it's easy.
Again, I teach months-longcourses about how to do this
process and really integrate it,and so it's okay if it feels
like this is all just kind ofjangling around your brain and
not quite landing.
The important thing to take awayfrom today is what each chakra
symbolizes, how it's connectedto the physical, mental,
(57:11):
emotional and energetic space, and starting to play with in
your own life.
How is energy showing up foryou?
What's showing up in yourphysical life?
How can you start using this todecode your experience and get
