Welcome, welcome back toanother amazing conversation.
I'm here with Christine Reneeand we're going to be diving
(01:09):
into connecting to yourintuition and how you can really
step into your higher self, step into that aspect of you
that knows who you are, beyondyour limits, the limits that we
place on ourselves, and so we'regoing to be diving into both of
these, and I'm so excited toshare this topic and really dive
in, because this is somethingthat I think I would say
(01:31):
probably 70% of people who joinour Moon Rising Shamanic Mystics
Facebook group.
We have a question where we askpeople where are you at on your
spiritual journey?
What are you working on mostright now?
And probably 70 to 80% ofpeople say something about I
want to connect with myintuition or I want to know more
about my higher self.
(01:51):
I want to know who my higherself is and how to connect with
them, and so we're really goingto dive into both of those
topics today, and I knowChristine is so excited to kick
us off with our conversationtoday.
So, christine, where do youwant to start?
Speaker 2 (02:08):
Oh, I know where I
want to start.
I know exactly where I want tostart.
I would love to start thisconversation to understand, like
the why, why awaken yourintuition?
Why are we really honing in onthis and higher self?
Are we really honing in on thisand higher self?
And it's this idea that whenour higher self is helping us in
(02:29):
our human life, make decisionsand pulling us in the in our
highest self direction, life isso much easier.
And I recently had a healingsession and it was with someone
who was a mixed modalitypractitioner.
So, yeah, she was a Reikimaster.
She was also a master teacher, nlp coach, she was.
(02:53):
She is a breath workpractitioner, and I came into
her office and we were doingsome coaching to begin with, and
the whole idea was okay.
Christine, if your subconscioushad a throne on it, who's
sitting in that chair?
Who's sitting in your throne'schair?
Is it your higher self, yourqueen, christine?
(03:14):
Or is it someone else right now?
Who is in charge?
Who is reigning their kingdomfrom from which?
From which you know internalpersonality, right Like from
which?
Is this your smaller self?
Is this your fear for self?
Is this your prideful self?
Is this your impatient self.
Is this your anxious self?
Like who's who's running theshow?
(03:36):
And it was such a dynamicquestion and I had been working
through a lot of these pieces ofthis internal struggle of like
this part of me wants this andthis part of me wants this, and
I'm having this internalargument all the time and and it
was just like timeout pause Doeither of those people who are
(03:58):
arguing within you are they yourhigher self?
Are they your higher self?
And the answer was like no.
Are they your higher self?
Are they your higher self?
And the answer was like no.
Queen Christine has had to takea backseat and she's like well,
there you go.
There's the problem.
We need to get her back incontrol, and I think that's why
I wanted to do this conversationso bad.
It's like when your higher selfis reigning your internal
(04:20):
kingdom and you're in your king, like if you're a man, are you
in your king.
If you're a woman, are you inyour queen, and that's just like
one way to look at it.
That's just one archetype, likeit can be anything that feels
good to you, but it's like thatpoint of view of are you
stepping into your full powerand majesty, and and clarity of
(04:41):
like this is my life and I getto freaking, decide how it rolls
out because I'm the freakingqueen, like it's that source of
power that we're looking for,and how do we go about making
life's choices?
Are we letting her reign or arewe letting some other version
(05:03):
of ourself take the wheel withtheir anxiety, with their doubt,
with their lack, with their?
Whatever it is coming to theforefront?
Speaker 1 (05:13):
And this is what I
love about higher self work is
when we're looking at it thisway.
So when for Moon RisingShamanic Institute, when we're
with our students it's 11, 11,my time as I'm saying this when
we're with our students and weengage in a shamanic practice
whether that's a journey or aclass or chakra spinning or
whatever it is when we'reholding space for our courses,
(05:33):
we always take a moment to callin the direction.
So there are seven directionsin traditional shamanic
teachings.
You have East, southwest, north, but you also have above, or
the upper world, where yourspirit guide, your guardian
angels, your loving ancestorsare all in this upper realm.
Then you have below, and thisis where mother nature, your
(05:56):
power animals, the mythicalcreatures, nature spirits all of
these are from below.
And then you have this middlerealm, which is essentially the
spiritual reflection of this 3Dreality, and so in this space
you can have middle world guides, but this is also where we meet
our inner child, from ashamanic perspective, but also
our higher self.
And when we call in thedirections, we're really taking
(06:18):
a moment to acknowledge thepower and healing that each
direction has to offer.
And when we call in our higherself, one of my favorite ways of
calling in that higher self isto say it's the one who knows
who we are when we release ourlimitations.
The fullest expression of ourpotential and this is, I think,
a really fantastic place tostart this conversation is
(06:41):
really honing in on who is ourhigher self, because that term
gets thrown around a lot and Ithink a lot of people end up
feeling like, well, that's great, but who is my higher self?
And so what I love about thisidea of whether you're looking
at it as who's on the throneright now, or you're looking at
it as what would the healedversion of myself choose in this
(07:02):
moment, or what would theversion of me that didn't have
any limitations or didn't haveanxiety, or didn't have limiting
beliefs, or however you want tophrase it in your head.
It's that you that is theboundless expression of your own
potential, of your own spirit.
It's that part of you whereyour soul is able to come
through and express itself inthe most healed, aligned version
(07:24):
.
And so, when we look at it thatway, what I love about this is
it gives us permission to havethose heavier feelings right.
We're allowed to be anxious,we're allowed to be sad, we're
allowed to have triggers, we'reallowed to have all of those
experiences because it's part ofwhat it means to be human, but
we don't have to make ourchoices from that place, and I
(07:46):
think this is really, for me,where being able to tune into
the higher self becomes a reallypowerful practice in just daily
life.
So, for example, last weekJanuary is a pretty rough month
for me.
My nervous system has a lot ofmemory of things that have
happened in my past, and Januarytends to be a month where I'm a
(08:06):
little more sensitive totriggers.
My nervous system is a littlemore open to having panic
attacks and things like this.
And so last week was a prettyrough week for me, and it
started out with this pretty bigtrigger.
And from the outside right, this is how triggers work.
It didn't seem like much.
I had to set a boundary at oneof my other jobs and I could
feel myself starting to betriggered, feel myself starting
(08:29):
to be like well, who am I to setthat boundary?
Who am I to speak up for myself?
Who am I to share my truth?
Who am I to say that, well, no,I can't get that done because I
need time for my self-care.
Why do I deserve something?
I could feel that spiral that Ithink everybody has, and what I
could have done is I could havelet it carry me away.
I could have fallen into thatpattern and started going no,
(08:51):
you know what, I'm not worthy tohave time for myself.
I'm not worthy to set thisboundary.
That's absolutely not okay.
I should apologize.
I should extend that olivebranch and try and make up for
it.
But what I did in that momentwas say, okay, I recognize that
this is an inner child part ofmyself that is wounded, it's
being triggered, it's beingpoked at, but it's not the only
(09:13):
part of myself.
And so can I take a moment totake a few deep breaths so that
I can respond instead of react.
And in that moment, shifting to, is there a different way that
I could see this?
Is there a different part ofmyself that isn't wounded, that
isn't being poked at?
Right now, who can have thathigher quote, unquote
perspective of what's going on?
(09:34):
And I was able to kind of shiftover into that energy, into
that mindfulness of this woundedpart isn't all of me, it's part
of me.
But what I can choose to do inthis moment is go in and heal it
, go in and help it.
Go in and have a conversationwith that part of myself so that
healing is happening, ratherthan perpetuating the cycle by
(09:55):
letting that thought pattern runaway with me.
And so your higher self-work cantake on a myriad of different
appearances, but what it reallyis is your ability to take a
step back and recognize that youare not your wounds, you are
not your triggers, you are notthese choices that you make.
You are the one who gets tomake those choices.
(10:15):
You are the one who gets toobserve all of it and say how do
I want to respond?
And when we can take back thatpower is essentially what it is.
Our higher self is the versionof us who has not given away any
of our power.
We have not given away anyounce of our self-worth or our
power to anyone or anything else.
That is our true higher self.
(10:36):
And so when we can say I knowthat I have this power, I might
not feel connected to it rightnow.
When I'm triggered, I might notbe sitting here thinking, yes,
I am worthy to set this boundary, but I know that that part of
myself exists.
And when we can do that, thisis what I love about this work
is, I think so often peoplethink that healing means you
never get triggered.
(10:56):
Healing means that you're nevergoing to be anxious, that you're
never sad, that you never getfrustrated with somebody.
We think that you knowespecially for, let's say,
people with PTSD, this was a bigstory that my mind had is that
if you're healed, you never haveany of those things come up
again, like healing means you'redone.
Essentially is the story thatwe have, and it's it's not.
(11:17):
Healing is our ability torespond to a trigger rather than
react, and so I love this ideaof who's playing on the throne
of your subconscious mind, because, to me, true healing is
when those triggers can come up.
Those subconscious storylinescan come up, those thought
patterns, those flashbacks,whatever it are.
They can come up, but they'reno longer the loudest voice in
(11:40):
your head.
You can recognize that they areone of many.
Right, you have that woundedpart of yourself and it's okay
that that's there.
Working with your higher selfdoesn't mean that you suddenly
have to be perfect or yousuddenly have to be free from
triggers or whatever it is thatyour mind is saying.
Working with your higher selfmeans that you have this ability
to understand that that voicein your head is just one of the
(12:03):
many and you have the ability totune into a different energy,
to tune into a differentconsciousness, so that when the
trigger comes up, when theflashback comes up, when the
anger comes up, whatever it isfor you, you can then say yes,
but it's not the only voice,it's not the strongest voice,
and you're able to take a stepback, to take those three deep
(12:24):
breaths and to tune in withyourself.
And I think that is the beautyof higher self-work, is it
really?
It's not about never beingtriggered, it's not about being
perfect, it's not about beingquote unquote healed Cause
that's.
You know, that's kind of a myth, but what it is is that when
those things come up, you're no,you're no longer overtaken by
them, you're not swallowed whole.
You're able to step back and belike that's not the only way
(12:46):
that this has to happen, that'snot the only outcome, that's not
the only way of seeing thesituation.
So can I bring in my higherself, or my intuition, to be
able to help me see more clearlywhat I can't see in this moment
?
Speaker 2 (13:00):
And I think that
self-awareness is huge and I
think that needs to becultivated.
It's not something thatnecessarily is automatic of
recognizing, okay, who issitting on that internal throne
Like, who's making the decisionsright now?
Who's which archetype isshowing up for me?
Which inner child is woundedthat's showing up for me right
(13:20):
now?
Like, just having thatself-awareness of going, my
nervous system is off.
Why, like, even if we juststarted there going, I have a
lot more anxiety in my liferight now.
I wonder what that's about.
Who is making these choices?
Because it's not the grandestversion of me, the grandest
(13:42):
version of me, my higher self, because it's not the grandest
version of me, the grandestversion of me, my higher self,
my queen Christine, whatever itis, wouldn't be making decisions
that would lead to anxiety.
Right Like, that higher self isgoing to set you up to feel in a
place of calm and peace andthis knowingness that the
universe has your back, likeeverything is going to work out
(14:02):
when the higher self is sittingon the throne at least 51% of
the time.
I think that's a really like.
Can we allow our higher self tobe in the throne room and
really be reigning from thatposition at least 50, 51% of the
time.
More than half of the time itis totally okay to be like I
want to go, allow my inner childthis space to play and
(14:26):
experience and, yeah, maybe evenbe triggered so that we can
work through those things, butshe's not in the seat a hundred
percent of the time.
You know, like I think we needto have that level of
self-awareness to recognize whenwe're dysregulated, to
recognize when we are off.
And when I say off, it's likeI'm off the throne, that higher
(14:49):
self is off that seat, thatinternal seat of power and
wisdom and connection with thedivine.
And from that, knowing that I'moff, how do I then resource and
I'm saying resource as like ahyphenated word, meaning how can
I learn to reconnect to sourceby taking these action steps to
(15:11):
allow her to come back, to allowthat higher self to come back
into the throne room and takeher seat, her proper place, and
so that resourcing is going.
What sources do I have in mylife that will help me remember
hyphenate the word?
What sources do I have in mylife that will help me remember
hyphenate the word, remember whoI am?
So I'm resourcing to sourcewith the divine.
So I'm looking at the sources, what tools in my toolbox do I
(15:33):
have that I want to pull forwardto help me come into my highest
self and truth?
And what do I need to do in thatprocess to help me remember the
truth of who I am, the grandestversion of who I am, because
oftentimes we forget that wehave a grandest version of who
we are who doesn't have anylimiting beliefs, who doesn't
have anxiety, who doesn't likeare tripping over themselves all
(15:54):
the time, because they justknow they have this knowingness,
they have a faith that all iswell and all is going to be well
and all is happening in perfectdivine timing and so let's not
stress about it, right?
And so there's that balance ofrecognizing that emotional
nervous system dysregulation andgoing.
(16:15):
What are my next steps?
And I think that that we needto pause.
This is why it's so beautifulIf you can have some type of
daily Reiki practice or dailymeditation practice or something
to kind of just tune intoourselves, to recognize where we
are.
Who is leading today, who ismaking the choices today?
(16:38):
And it's okay to be like.
Today is a day for fun and play, and this is who I want to
present as Knowing that I'mstill like letting that other
version of me, that differentarchetype of me, sit in the
throne, but she's still holdingthe hand of the higher self, and
the higher self is ready tocome back into her proper
position at any moment if sheneeds to.
Speaker 1 (17:01):
And this is what I
love about this work is that
when we look at it this way ofwho's making the choices today,
suddenly we open up thiscompletely different way of
working with the higher selfthan I think I see represented
anywhere else, of this idea thatthere's kind of two
perspectives to the higher self.
Right, you can take it as thisreally spiritual, energetic
(17:23):
experience where there is thisenergy, this manifestation of
your soul, of your true selfthat you can embody, that you
could step into right, and itcan be this really spiritual
experience where you connect tothem in a meditation or in a
journey or what have you.
And there's this other way ofseeing the higher self, where we
look at it more from thatpsychological point of view of
(17:45):
we all know that we have thepower of choice, that we can
choose how we respond or how wereact, and we know that we have
the parts of ourselves that arewounded and hurting and we have
the parts of ourselves that arealigned and connected and
balanced and flowing andwhatever words you use to
understand that.
And we know that we can choose,if we cultivate that
(18:05):
self-awareness, which one ofthose versions of ourselves is
the one making those decisions.
And so this is where, again, like Christine was saying, that
self-awareness comes in, becausewe want to be able to know
ourselves in and out, becauseboth of these versions and all
of the expressions between rightthe one who is triggered and
(18:26):
upset and the one who is alignedand powerful and making their
decisions there's a wide rangeof experiences and versions of
ourselves between those twobookends.
But until we know ourselves, until we have that ability to
sit with ourselves and reallywitness, who am I?
What do I feel like when I amaligned, when my energy is
flowing, when I feel connectedto nature or spirit or God,
(18:49):
universe, self source, whateveryou like to call it?
How do I feel when I am alignedand in flow versus how do I
feel when I'm out of alignment?
How do I feel when I'mtriggered?
How do I feel when theseemotions come up?
How do I feel when my nervoussystem is out of balance?
Are I making choices from aplace that's not my best and
highest self?
(19:10):
Because once we have thatawareness, it becomes really
easy to almost have this littlelitmus test when we make choices
of was that in keeping withthat highest version of myself,
whether we're looking at it fromthat energetic perspective.
Did the energy I was puttingforward in this situation match
with the energy of my higherself?
Or we're looking at it from apsychological standpoint?
(19:31):
Was that choice a choice thatthat version of myself who
exists beyond this wound orbeyond this limiting belief
would have made we have suddenlythis little litmus test of?
Was that in alignment with theperson that I want to be?
Is another way of looking atthis.
And what I think is so beautifulabout that question is it
brings us back to thisunderstanding that our higher
(19:52):
self is that manifestation ofour capital, t, true self, right
, our soul self, our spirit self, whatever you want to call that
, that manifestation of who wewere quote unquote meant to be.
And I don't mean that in like adestiny seeking kind of way, I
mean that in a if you were thefullest expression of your
potential, like we said earlier, who would you be?
(20:12):
And when we think of it thatway, we all know that we have
this soul centered part ofourselves, right, we have our
mind, the thinker, the problemsolver, the one who likes to
have all the questions and thethoughts and all the things.
But we also know that we havethis deeper part of ourselves.
Whether you call it soul, whether you call it intuition,
whether you call it somethingelse, we have that deeper part
(20:32):
of ourselves and it is from thatplace that we are constantly
being called towards our healing, towards our highest potential,
towards choosing the choicesthat are aligned with the divine
, because it is that piece ofthe divine within us is what's
calling us forward.
And when we think of the higherself in this way, of our
highest, fullest potential, itsuddenly becomes so clear that
(20:56):
our intuition, or our soul, isconnected to our higher self.
Our higher self is this idea, ifyou will, this energy, this
manifestation of everything thatour soul could be when we
embody into this physical personcharacteristic suit.
It's that expression of who wecould be, but it is led always
(21:19):
by our soul, or, in other words,it is led always by our
connection to the divine, by ourconnection to spirit.
And so we inherently know whenwe are connected to our higher
self and when we're not simplybased on something as simple as
how we feel right.
We know when we're triggeredand we react when we lash out at
(21:40):
somebody or we slam the door orwhatever it is that we do.
We have that moment of thatwasn't my best moment, right?
That's a phrase that I thinkall of us have said at some
point.
That wasn't my best moment, orthat decision that was a mistake
.
We know, and so we can comeback into this knowing of.
I have not only this higher self, energy, this psychological
(22:03):
construct.
However you're choosing to lookat it, I have this version of
myself that is healed and wholeand knows their power and knows
their worth and is choosing tostay in that, and I have this
version of me that's willing togive that power away.
Which one do I want to stepinto?
And when we look at it that way, we understand that our soul,
(22:26):
our intuition, that spirit, truepart of ourselves, is always
going to be calling us towardsstepping into the higher self,
because it is that expression ofthe divine in us.
It is that expression of who wewere meant to be.
I said in class a few days agothat we are a manifestation of
our soul.
Said in class a few days agothat we are a manifestation of
(22:47):
our soul, and what I mean bythat is that our soul is
constantly expressing itselfthrough us.
Right, we are this expressionof divine, of consciousness, of
whatever you want to call it,coming to earth to experience
life.
And we have this internal testof am I being aligned with the
choices that my soul would make, that spirit would make, that
divine would make?
(23:09):
Recognizing that our higher selfis just an extension of that,
it's just the version of ourhuman self that knows how to
live in alignment with our soulis another way of saying it.
And so suddenly we have thisopportunity to realize that
these two things that seem sodisconnected, right, our higher
self and our intuition areessentially just different ways
of talking about the same thing, that inner truth, that inner
(23:33):
essence of who you are, with acapital A of looking at.
Are you connected to the divine?
Are you making the choices thatyou would make if you truly
knew, if you came back intoconnection with the knowing,
that you would make if you trulyknew, if you came back into
connection with the knowing thatyou are just divine embodied?
Is this choice a choice youwould make if you truly believed
that you were the divineembodied?
(23:53):
And I love that question.
Speaker 2 (23:56):
Well, and I think it
goes to like also, similar
questions might be what wouldlove do?
Like if I was the embodiment oflove or if I am the embodiment
of this expansive universal?
I think that's another reallygreat way to think of it.
Like are you in a state ofcontraction or expansion I know
I bring this up often of like, recognizing.
(24:18):
Am I making choices from aplace of fear?
Or making place of choices fromexpansion, from growth, from a
state of an excited yes, right, and giving yourself some grace
in this too.
Like every once in a whilesometimes it feels like the
(24:39):
divine comes in and throws aveil over my eyes and wants me
to have a life experience sothat I learn something deeper.
Right, and so giving yourselfgrace, like if you're like yeah,
I totally fucked up last week,or whatever it was that what
happened of giving yourself thisgrace that it's always coming
(25:01):
back into alignment.
Like giving yourself permissionthat knowing that if, even
though it feels like you'restuck in this pattern, that the
willingness to always try andattempt to come back into a
place of alignment, a placewhere your higher self is making
the choices, like it's aprocess.
(25:22):
It's a process to recognize,and I think this is why I love
working with the archetypes Ilove working with.
Okay, what would my higher selfdo?
What would be the grandestversion decision I could make
today?
How can I, whatever it is, andrecognize what am I doing to
cultivate those types ofquestions and giving myself
space to do that, cultivatethose types of questions and
(25:46):
giving myself space to do that, and that is where really we need
time.
So, if you are running througha nine to five, running your
kids around making dinners andmeals and like are exhausted by
the day and just want to zoneout from the TV, that's a very
typical American lifestyle,right?
And what we're saying is likeis that what your grandest
version wants to do?
(26:07):
And all around?
For me, in my life, in myexperience, my higher self hated
all of that.
It hated the nine to five.
It hated running my kids around.
It hated rushing making dinners.
It hated all of that.
It wanted to slow down that.
(26:27):
It wanted to slow down andbecause I'm having this
intentional morning practice, like I used to be so
dysregulated before I'd go towork Even if my work was my
Reiki practice because I wasrush, rush, rush.
Get the kids out of the door, make sure their lunches are
perfect, do all of the things, and there was not a space to
breathe.
It was just full on anxiety, mom mode and it sucked the life
(26:49):
out of me.
I was so exhausted all of thetime and all at what, like over
the years, it's been nothingmore than a mindset check of
okay, in the morning I'm goingto play my morning playlist.
My morning playlist is full ofmusic around gratitude and
having the best day ever andit's just super, super positive.
(27:09):
And I sing and dance my waythrough the mornings.
Why?
Because I know my higher selfenjoys that and if I allowed my
inner freaked out, anxious momto show up, it's going to be a
really stressful morning.
So I'm going to dance my waythrough my mornings and go and
if I have any extra spare time,it's like how can I take a
(27:33):
moment of peace?
What does that look like for me?
Like sometimes it's looking outthe window and watching the
snowfall and watching the deerscuddled up in the negative
degree weather, like they didthis morning, and going.
You know, I'm going to enjoythis moment and be grateful for
it.
Like I'm going to slow downenough to be grateful to see
what is going on outside mywindow and that's enough.
(27:54):
It's enough to kind of helppull me back into center.
And so it's recognizing whenI'm off center and it's
recognizing when you're in it.
You know, and I think that's, Ithink that's big, that
self-awareness piece is big, andgiving yourself grace again and
again and again and again andagain, when you find yourself
out of balance, when you findyourself out of alignment, when
(28:16):
you find yourself off your, youknow your, your path and going,
you know what.
Maybe the universe brought me ona detour for a reason.
Maybe I needed to remember whoI am this way, so I can remember
how fucking powerful I actuallyam.
Right, like there's this pieceof it going.
What if you just can't fuck itup?
(28:38):
What if the attempt is, I'malways going to come back to
center, but along thosediversions I'm going to learn
lessons.
And if so, if I fall off thepath, I'm going to witness
myself, recognize myself, takethe time to sit with it and see
what's going on and then bringmyself back.
So it's like, how do you wantto live your life?
(28:59):
Do you want to live your lifein a, in the flow?
And and it can be easier, and Ijust so have such a personal
connection to remembering whenlife was rush, rush, rush to how
my life is now, and I reflectedthe other day.
I'm like, wow, five years ago Iwas not able to do this.
Like, I am now able to run mycommunity's carpool every
(29:24):
morning and get my kids out thedoor by 7.55 without freaking
out and without being stressed, and having made a beautiful
homemade breakfast that's soimportant to me, right Like, and
I'm not getting any less sleep.
I'm not waking up at 5 am, I'mnot even waking up at 6 am.
I rarely roll out of bed before6.
(29:45):
Because I don't like mornings, right Like, I want them to be
easy, I want them to be fun, Iwant them to be playful, I want
everyone to be fed and I want itto go nicely.
And so, like, my mornings arereally good.
Reflection if I'm in alignmentor not.
Because if I'm stressed whenI'm walking out the door with
three kids to carpool them allto school, I know I'm out of
(30:07):
alignment.
But if I can do that with asense of fun, play and ease, I'm
in it.
Right.
And so it's just like what arethese really mundane things in
your life and can you say I canhave fun at this.
This can be easy for me.
I'm not allowing that internaldialogue of repeated thoughts
(30:28):
and and like.
I think that's where so many ofus get caught up with going
like.
I'm thinking about that again.
I'm really struggling with thisthought process process again,
like, what is that?
Like?
Why are, why is oursubconscious going in circles
and circles and repeated thoughtpatterns?
And can we put a pin in it andgo wait, stop, I'm doing it
(30:49):
again.
I need to make a new choice.
I need to thought, catch mythoughts and stop talking bad
about myself or replaying thatscenario that happened the other
day, of when I didn't show upin my higher self or whatever it
was, because there's a part ofyou that like wants to slow down
, to figure out this lesson ofwhy this is happening, so that
(31:11):
you can come back in again Right.
Like in my world, like it is,it's all about lessons and
learnings and healings.
Like and I'm not ashamed ofthat I feel like I can have the
best version of me, the mostexpanded version of me, the most
playful version of me, if Iknow my life's work, and not be
(31:33):
not be upset about that, not belike, ashamed of that, like, my
life is freaking amazing.
The students that I help areamazing.
I have the privilege too.
I'm honored so that, like allof these things, so I'm not
going to feel bad that I need, Iwant to meditate in the morning
or I want to do this practice, like if this allows me to be in
(31:57):
my higher self and to trust thedivine and to be a co
collaborator, a co-consciousco-creatrix, if you will, into
your life.
Yeah, yes, please and thank you, yes, please and thank you.
So where are you at, like, howis your self-awareness, your
self-observation, are you givingyourself time for that and do
(32:19):
you have tools to help yourself, resource like, source up with
divine, and what does that looklike for you?
I think that those are somereally key questions to ask
ourselves so that we can know ifwe're living our life from our
fullest potential or if we'reliving life in fear.
Speaker 1 (32:39):
And you know, I love
that last point of are we living
life in our highest potential?
Are we living like in fear?
Because our higher self, ourintuition, exists in the present
.
It doesn't exist in the future,it doesn't exist in the past,
but those are the two placesthat our mind exists, and I want
you to notice this for a minute.
Notice everything that you'vebeen thinking about this morning
(33:01):
, right, everything that you canthink of.
So I know that today for myself, I thought about everything
that you've been thinking aboutthis morning, right, everything
that you can think of.
So I know that today for myself, I've thought about everything
that I need to get done at work.
I've thought about if I've hadenough, if I got all of the
groceries that I needed toyesterday.
I've thought about what I needto pack for the trip that's
coming up at the end of thisweek for me, and I have also
thought about an experience thatI had yesterday with my family.
(33:22):
Those have been the main thingsthat my mind has been thinking
about this morning, and noticinghow not a single one of those
had anything to do with thispresent moment, with what was
right in front of me.
And so take a moment to reallythink about.
What has your mind been chewingon today?
What has it been cycling about?
What are those thought patternsthat Christine was saying, that
(33:44):
your brain has gotten caughtinto, and what timeline do they
exist in?
Are they past, present orfuture?
And begin to notice how yourmind is always going to be
thinking about either the pastor the future, and I love to
explain this to my students bytalking about how our mind is
kind of like an Excelspreadsheet.
You can put in all of the datainto those cells and you can use
(34:06):
the sum or the average formulato pop out a new number, or you
can use the tool to predict thenext number, right?
But that prediction is justbased on the data that you've
already put in.
It can't just spontaneouslycome up with something
completely new.
It's always built on whathappened in the past, and this
is how our minds work.
(34:27):
Our minds are just data storagecenters and they're constantly
looking at and siphoning througheverything that's happened in
the past to try and then spitthose into the future so that we
can feel more prepared, so thatwe can feel more in control, so
that we can avoid making themistakes that we made in the
past.
Right, that's essentially allour mind is ever doing.
But what happens is that whenwe start to forget that our mind
(34:49):
is just a tool, that our mindis just that Excel spreadsheet
and we start to give it weightand we start to let it make our
decisions, and we start to thinkthat it's what should be
running our lives, that's whenwe get anxiety and that's when
we get fear.
Right, because we're thinkingabout what could happen in the
future or what already happenedin the past that could have gone
differently, that we could havedone better, in that we wish
(35:11):
hadn't happened.
Whatever it is, our mind isstuck in this polarity of what
did happen and what could happennext, constantly trying to
figure out how can I do itbetter next time, how can I keep
myself safe next time, how canI do this better?
And again, that's where all ofour shoulds come in, right.
So we live in a society that iscompletely built on those
(35:34):
shoulds, coulds and woulds ofwhat you should have done, what
you could have done better.
If you had only done it thisway, then maybe it would have
turned out differently, right?
We even think about somethingas simple as going to the
grocery store right, is feedinginto our minds tool of trying to
figure out what's going tohappen next.
What do we want for dinnertomorrow?
What do we want for lunch threedays from now?
(35:55):
What are our kids going to behungry for in a week?
And can we plan all of thatahead of time so that we're
prepared in the week to comeright?
But that's pushing us fartherinto our minds.
It's pushing us farther intowhat's happening next instead of
what's happening now.
Then noticing how, in thein-between there, when your mind
is stuck in the past and thefuture, your intuition, your
(36:17):
higher self, is only everfocused on what's happening now.
And sometimes you make choicesnow to influence what happens
next.
Right, but it's always aboutwhat decision do you make now?
What feels aligned now?
What are you feeling called todo now, in this present moment?
And this is why your intuitionand your higher self exist
(36:41):
outside of fear.
You'll notice that yourintuition, your higher self, is
never afraid, is never anxious, never has doubt why?
Because it exists in thepresent.
It has let go of the need tofigure out what went wrong in
the past so that we can predictthe future.
It knows that everythingimportant, everything valuable
(37:01):
is happening right now, righthere in front of us.
And so when we can take thosemoments to think about what is
right in front of me, what ishappening now, whether that's
something like you know the 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 technique, where you
look for five things, you cansee four things, you can hear
three things, you can touch, tuning into your senses, or it's
(37:21):
something as simple as what amI not seeing right now?
Right, because our brain getsso good at filtering out
stimulus so that we can staytuned in to what our mind thinks
is important, aka the past orthe future.
So if we take a moment to takethree deep breaths, shift back
into a little bit of thatparasympathetic nervous system
and think about what is it thatI'm not seeing right now,
(37:49):
suddenly what I like to call thepresent of the present moment
reveals itself.
And this is really similar towhat Christine was saying of
what lesson is the universeflowing me to in this moment?
What am I learning from thisdetour?
It's the same thing ofunderstanding that something in
this present moment is happeningof value.
You would not be experiencingthis moment.
Your soul, your higher self, your intuition wouldn't have led
you to this moment, as mundaneas it may seem.
(38:11):
Right, I'm not talking aboutthe big, huge firework moments
although those count too buteven something as simple as when
you make your cup of coffee inthe morning, you would not be
experiencing that moment ifthere wasn't value in it, if
there wasn't something of worthin it for you and for your
experience.
So can you take a moment and askyourself what is the present of
(38:33):
the present moment, what is inthis now moment that I'm meant
to be experiencing, and when wecan do that?
Suddenly we've let the mind diedown and we've stepped back
into the present, and sometimeswe have to coax our mind a
little bit to get it to let usto do that, because we are so
used to living life from ourminds, we're so used to making
(38:55):
our decisions from this Excelspreadsheet tool that it's
really hard to drop in because, again, it's just trying to keep
us safe.
It's just trying to keep usgoing, and so sometimes we have
to pretend like our mind is alittle bit of a toddler and coax
it through of.
You know what?
I get it.
I get that you're keeping mesafe.
I understand why you'restressed.
(39:16):
I understand why you're makingthe decisions that you're making
because you think it's what youshould be doing.
But what if?
Right, not saying we're goingto make this decision, not
saying we have to make thisdecision.
But what if there was adifferent way?
What if you got to choose whatwas right and wrong?
What if there wasn't a shouldand you could do anything that
(39:37):
you wanted to do?
What if you got to call theshots?
What would happen?
And when we frame it that way, when we step into this positive
what-if state, it lets our mindrelax a little bit because
suddenly you know it's still alittle bit in control, right?
It gets to have a say in whatdecision you're going to make.
So it feels like it can stretchits wings a little bit and let
(39:58):
you be safe.
Within the context of exploring, what choice would I make If you
were making the decisions?
If you let go of the shoulds,if you let go of a, this is what
my morning should look like.
Or this is how working a nineto five should look, or this is
the steps that my life shouldtake to be a good life.
If you let go of all of that, what decision would you make
(40:19):
right now?
It might be the same decision, but at least if you pause and
ask yourself, then it gets to beyour decision and not a
decision that's driven byeveryone else's perceptions of
what you should do.
And so, once again, this iswhere this is another tool for
figuring out are you in yourhigher self, your intuitive
state, or are you in thatmind-driven state of?
(40:39):
Are the frameworks, are therules that you're using to make
your current decisions?
Are they yours or are theysomeone else's?
Are you doing it because it'swhat you should be doing?
Are you doing it because it'swhat everybody does in this
situation?
Are you feeling this way, acting this way, thinking this
way, whatever?
Because that's what's expectedof you?
(40:59):
And if the answer is, well, I'mexpecting it of myself.
Who taught you thoseexpectations?
Where did you get thoseexpectations from?
Are they truly coming fromyourself?
Because here's the thing yourintuition, your higher self, has
no expectations of you.
It has possibilities for you,it has potential for you, it has
alignment for you if you chooseto step into it, but it doesn't
(41:22):
have expectations.
Your intuition, your higherself, there's no shoulds there.
There's again just what ishappening right now, and where
is the value in it, where is theworth in it.
And so when we can step backand we can ask ourselves, why am
I about to make the choice I'mabout to make?
Is it because I should on anylevel?
Then that's my mind talking.
(41:42):
And can I take a moment to stepback and say, if there weren't
any shoulds?
Like, yes, mind, I know you'redoing such a good job keeping me
safe, you're doing such a goodjob trying to help me make the
right decision, but what ifthere weren't any shoulds?
What decision would I make?
Because the thing is, we allknow and I think that's
something that I love about thiswork so much is it is so simple
(42:05):
.
That doesn't mean it's easy, but it is that simple because we
are made of this.
We are made of our higher self,we are made of our intuition.
And if we give that voice achance to speak, if we take that
time to take three deep breaths, to drop back into the present,
where we know our higher selfand our intuition exist, and we
(42:25):
let them speak, they're going toright.
If you sit down right now andthink to yourself what do I want
to be doing right now?
What choice would I make?
You instantly know.
But what happens is thatthought comes up we all have it,
that little voice, that gutfeeling, your intuition,
whatever you want to call it.
We all have that.
(42:45):
And then our mind steps back inwith its Excel spreadsheet and
its checklist of saying, well, you can't do that because this
or that wouldn't align with yourexpectations for the day, so we
need to cut that out, orso-and-so is expecting you to do
this.
You have to do that instead.
And suddenly we had thisglimmer of our higher self, the
one who exists beyond ourlimitations, aka the one who
exists beyond the Excel sheet ofour mind.
(43:06):
And we chose the Excel sheetinstead.
And that's okay.
We're allowed to make thatchoice.
We're allowed to have thosemoments where we go, ah shit,
you know what, that was a mindchoice.
That's okay, because what we'redoing every time we come back
into awareness of that, everytime we come back into this idea
of that that was my mind, whether we're able to notice it
(43:27):
before and say you know what I'mgoing to ask myself what
decision I would make and we canstep away before we've made the
mind choice, or we catch itafter and we're like you know
what?
I didn't see it then, but thatwasn't my higher self, that
wasn't what my intuition wascalling me to.
Every time we take that momentto notice, to step into that
(43:48):
self-awareness, what we're doingis we are retraining our mind
to be in resonance with our soul, to be in resonance with our
higher self, our intuition.
We're putting data into thespreadsheet that says, hey, when
I listen to my intuition, intothe spreadsheet that says, hey,
when I listen to my intuition, when I step into my higher self,
(44:09):
magic happens.
And when I don't listen to myintuition, when I don't listen
to my higher self, then thingsdon't feel good.
Right, my day didn't go the wayI thought it would, or I feel
bad at the end of it, or I'mconstantly living in stress, and
I don't want that.
And the more you can step intothat awareness, the more your
(44:30):
brain, your mind, this tool thatyou have, is going to be able
to start leading you towardseventually.
Hey, what if we made the higherself decision instead?
What if we made the intuitivedecision instead?
And you get to bring your mindon board.
But this is where, likeChristine was saying, that
gentleness, that compassion withyourself comes in of knowing
that it gets to be a process.
And isn't that amazing that wearen't stuck in this war with
(44:54):
our minds.
It's not always going to feellike this strong tug of war
because we get to embark on theprocess of retuning our mind, of
bringing our mind back intoalignment with our intuition.
And so, whether that's takingyour three deep breaths and
coming back into the present, whether that's taking a moment
to ask that question of you, know what decision would I make?
(45:14):
Whether it's using the toolsthat Christine was talking about
, whatever it is for you, whenwe take that moment to come back
into the present, knowing thatthat's where our intuition and
our higher self is, and we letourselves be open to the answer
of what would my higher self do,what would my intuition do?
It gets to be that simplebecause as soon as you ask
(45:35):
yourself that, as soon as yougive yourself space for your
true self to speak instead ofjust your mind, that knowing is
going to fall into yourawareness.
The hard part is choosing to goalong with it.
The hard part is actuallymaking the choice to say I know
what I need to do.
Can I let myself do it?
Because that's where the mindis going to say that's scary,
(45:56):
that's the unknown, but when wecan come back into that
connection, with every time wemake that choice, every time we
choose to be in alignment withour higher self or let our
intuition call the shots, we'reretuning our mind and we're
retuning our mind and we'reretuning our mind, and it's okay
if it feels uncomfortablebecause, if we think about it,
your intuition has one frequency, your mind has another.
(46:18):
When you choose yourintuition's frequency, it's
going to clash a little bit withthe frequency of your mind, and
that's okay.
That's the discomfort that wefeel when we have that mental
tension, when we're sittingthere going, oh my gosh, I
shouldn't have made thatdecision, or whatever it is.
The amount of mental discomfortthat we have is directly
proportionate to the differencein how your mind sees the
(46:41):
situation and how your soul seesthe situation.
So, with Christine, we're goingto take her for an example,
with her morning routine whereshe was feeling really stressed
and she was feeling like well, Ihave to do it this way.
I have to get the kids out thedoor, I have to get them food, I
have to get ready for myworkday, I have to, I have to, I
have to, aka I should.
That's the mind's view of whatshould be happening, and that
(47:01):
stress that she was feeling, that distress of being in that
situation, was her soul tryingto say hey, that's not how I see
this, that's not how I feelaligned to this, there's a
different way.
And so when we start to noticethat and we start to see that
distress, that stress, thatanxiety, that discomfort, that
(47:23):
tension, whatever it is for you, when we make a decision or when
we step into a situation, asthis is just a sign that my mind
is seeing this differently thanmy soul.
And can I give myself thatmoment to take those deep
breaths, to come back intoconnection, to the present
moment and see what does my soulhave to say, and then make the
decision when you have all ofthe information, when you have
(47:45):
your mind's point of view andyour higher self or your
intuition's point of view, andthen you make the decision.
That's a decision that was trulyyours, that was fueled by
yourself, with a capital S thatwas in your power, in your worth
, in your awareness.
No matter which you choose togo with, no matter if you choose
(48:05):
the mind's choice or the soul'schoice, it was at least your
choice and in that you'reclaiming back your power, you're
retuning your mind, you'recoming back into the present and
even if you go with the mind'schoice, you're still stepping
into your higher self becauseyou've reclaimed your power to
say this is my choice.
And it's that cycle of doing itover and over and over again
(48:30):
that suddenly you begin torealize this is all just coming
together, it's all falling intoplace because I am my higher
self, I am my intuition, I getto make the choices that express
that in this lifetime.
Speaker 2 (48:45):
Well, and I think
what I love about this is that
our higher self is going tochoose self-love every time,
right.
And so if we're makingdecisions and staying in
situations, or staying in thepattern, or making decisions
again and again, and if you slowdown and ask yourself if I
loved myself a hundred percent,a hundred percent completely,
(49:09):
I'm in love with myself Would Icontinue on this path?
Would I continue making thisdecision?
And if the answer is like no,no, I wouldn't then you need to
be making another choice.
And so I had a friend recentlytell me how her boyfriend was
(49:29):
calling her names and I'm likewould your and my mind?
I'm like would her higher selfstay?
Her higher self loves her ahundred percent completely and
wouldn't tolerate emotionalabuse, right.
And so it's like how can weremember our value, our worth,
our self-dignity, our, ourself-love?
(49:50):
And that's how we return tocenter too.
Like we can, we can put ourfoot down and be like no, I'm no
longer available for this, andI think that's a huge phrase.
I use all the time I amavailable for this.
Where I'm not available forthis and I think that's a huge
phrase I use all the time I amavailable for this.
Where I'm not available forthis.
I'm not available to be in arelationship that includes X, y
and Z.
I'm not available to have thatas part of my reality.
But I am available for X, this, these beautiful parts, and like
(50:13):
, let let those be yourboundaries, right.
And so part of the havingboundaries is our higher self
saying yes to self-love.
So how can we love ourselfcompletely?
That's how we know when thehigher self is really in the
decision-making chair is becauseshe's going to choose love.
(50:34):
She's going to choose love ofself.
She's going to love you so muchthat she would never want to
have you in a position whereyou're being less than period
period, solid period there.
And so it's.
It's really recognizing likeyour own self-worth, your own
(50:54):
self-love.
And then, when you find yourselflike, wow, I've given my power
away, I've been making poorchoices, I've been making poor
choices, I've been doing this, the way we come back into
alignment is choosing self-love.
And what does your self-lovepath look like?
What fills your cup up?
What says yes to your higherself being on that throne?
What does she want, right?
And so it can be a choice ofradical self-love and you fill
(51:20):
up your cup, and so then it's somuch easier to say no, I'm not
available to that thing.
That stresses me out becauseI'm going to do this instead.
That feels good to me and letit be that.
And like, how am I feedingmyself in my world?
What friendships do I have?
What media do I expose myself?
What do I listen to on thepodcast?
What books on tape do I engagewith?
(51:41):
What movies do I have?
What media do I expose myself?
What do I listen to on thepodcast?
What books on tape do I engagewith?
What movies do I watch?
How is it helping me come intomy power and claiming my
sovereignty Because it alwayscomes back to our personal power
and our sovereignty of am I inthe decision-making spot that's
going to say yes to the fullestversion of who I am and let that
(52:04):
be okay.
Let like recognize thediscomfort of like okay,
boundaries are scary becausewhen I've set them in the past,
my subconscious does X, y and Zand freaks out.
But you deserve better, youdeserve better, you deserve
better.
You deserve to have a magicalfucking life.
You do, you do and your higherself knows exactly what you need
(52:25):
to do to have a completelymagical life.
So don't let someone steal yourmagic, like, don't give your
power away.
And I say that to myself justas much as I say it to everyone
else, because we need thereminder right.
And it's okay to fall out ofalignment and come back again
and again, and again, and againand again, because that's part
(52:46):
of being human.
So we are human and balancedwith our higher self.
Or when our higher self is inalignment, then we, our
intuition, is on point.
The intuition tells us whatnext step to take and all we
have to do is know that our lifeis of divine and of service and
wait for the call to have thenext divine action step in front
(53:07):
of us.
Like I've been.
I got back into town maybe aweek ago a little bit longer
than that and I've been like, okay, my brain is like, quote,
unquote.
I should put something on thecalendar for this month for
Bozeman.
I should set up another goddessplay date with for my community
, I should teach a class in townor whatever it is.
And it was like you know, no, Ihaven't heard the call from my
(53:32):
higher self to do something yet.
Like, I know it's percolating,I know it's in the background.
I'm giving myself the time toland back in Bozeman and get on
my feet and then I'm waiting.
I'm waiting in this magicalspace of self-love and self-care
, so I am pouring it in.
I want to take time numeroustimes a day to say yes to
(53:57):
self-love and I'm going to waitfor the divine to speak to my
higher self, through my higherself, for next action steps.
And that is the basis for themagical life.
It's not hurry up and do X, yand Z.
That's the mind it is.
I'm going to wait patiently.
I'm going to lean back intothis knowingness that the
(54:19):
universe has me taken care of.
It has got the money figuredout, it's got the way figured
out, it's got the pieces inplace.
The divine timing is happeningand I am in this.
I can be in a waiting patternof wait for that divine
inspiration.
And so yesterday, part of mydivine inspiration was like
share about your self-care path, about what you're doing for
(54:41):
self-love.
Like share that go online everyday, do a little video, do
something to share what you aredoing, to help resource your
connection, to display what's inyour toolbox.
Because even if that's all mydivine inspiration is for right
now, what a beautiful tool it isfor all of our audience to go.
If she can do it, I can do ittoo.
(55:02):
There's toolbox full of magicalthings to help us come back
into our alignment and and it'sokay, it's okay.
And so, even if you took whetherit is five minutes, I think
there's a lot of people outthere that thinks that their
practice needs to be a full hourthing.
And what if it was five minutesof Reiki before bed?
And what if it was five minutesof dance movement?
(55:25):
And what if it was five minuteshere and that's all.
It was 15 minutes total, butyou it's broken up so that you
can find the, the place andspace to remember who you
ultimately are, which is yoursoul, which is your higher self,
and in that space the intuitionis going to show up.
Speaker 1 (55:45):
Absolutely.
And so, knowing in thisconversation that this is, as
always, an invitation to takewhat we've talked about and
bring it into your own life, ofwhen we boil it down, can you
take a moment to take some deepbreaths, to come back into the
present, this now moment, andask yourself who's making the
decisions?
Who do I want to be making thedecisions?
(56:06):
And if I allowed my higher selfand my intuition to speak up,
what decision would they make?
What decision would comeforward in this present moment
from that highest space ofmyself, for my highest good?
And then can you allow yourselfto take action on that
inspiration, whatever it is?
So we would love to know, afterlistening to this podcast, after
(56:29):
trying this, after taking amoment to make the choice from
your higher self, from yourintuitive space, what happened,
how did your day unfold, how didit feel to make that choice and
how did you breathe through anydiscomfort as you were
experiencing that dissonance ofretuning your mind, of coming
back into the present?
We would love to know all ofthis over in our Moon Rising
(56:50):
Shamanic Mystics Facebook group.
We would love for you to sendus a message about it so we can
connect and hear how is thisexperience for you?
