Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, Wits and Weights family, I just have a quick
bonus episode for you.
I was thinking about the wordphysique.
Actually, I think about itquite a bit because of Physique
University, and when you thinkof that word, you probably think
six-pack, abs, muscles, symmetry, the stuff that we see
visually, the stuff that you seeon your Instagram feed.
But that is really justscratching the surface, because

(00:21):
I believe that physique isn'tjust about how you look.
It is about all the things withyour body how you move, how you
feel, how your body supportsyou through your life.
So I was thinking what do wemean by physique?
What are the different elementsthat you can represent with
your physique?
The first one is physique asstrength.
Right, Physique isn't just forshow.

(00:42):
It's like the engine that letsyou, you know, do all the things
you do in life.
The stronger you are, the moremuscle you build, the more
resilient your body becomes.
It, then, is part of yourphysical identity.
It is proof that your physiqueis working for you, you know,
not just against gravity, justto keep you alive into
decrepitude of old age.
That's a really meaningfulthing.

(01:02):
Then we have physique asfunction.
Can you carry your groceries inone trip and like I like to do
with my ego.
10 bags at a time?
Can you sprint after your kidsor grandkids hike up a mountain
without stopping?
You know that is your physiquein action, that's in motion as
function.
A true, you know, capablephysique isn't static, but it's
dynamic, allows you to do more,to live more, to engage more

(01:25):
fully with the world.
Then we have physique as health.
This is massive.
Muscle mass is protectiveagainst disease.
Strength training improves bonedensity, insulin sensitivity,
cardiovascular function.
Your physique literally extendsyour lifespan and your quality
of life.
So, again, it's not just aboutlooking good but also living

(01:46):
well.
And finally, we have physique asconfidence and identity.
This is mental, emotionalhealth.
Your physique tells your story.
It reflects your discipline, your care, your growth, the
attention you put into yourself.
It's not about fitting into anideal but really owning your
body composition as your versionof whatever optimal means

(02:09):
strong, capable, healthy.
So the next time you hear theword physique, I want you to go
beyond picturing just biceps andhow you look.
Think about strength, thinkfunction, think health and think
identity.
That, to me, is the truedefinition, it's the one that I
want you to carry with you onthis journey.
And if this is home.

(02:30):
If you enjoyed this very shortepisode, which hopefully my
thoughts helped you reframe whatphysique means, all I want you
to do is text this episode witha friend.
That's it.
Just share this with someoneelse who might find it
interesting and make sure you'refollowing this podcast for our
next big episode, and I will seeyou on Monday.
