Everyone wants to achieve their highest potential. To achieve it, we often scramble for a new idea or a new set of people to help. However, sometimes best ideas come from helping those around us. Jen Berry and Ryden Brittany of The Mycelorium are doing exactly that. The Mycelorium is a community that connects Bridgewater Associates alumni founders with a network of experts who can help them grow their big ideas. They also operate a syndicate that invests in companies raising pre-seed funding. Before The Mycelorium, Jen was the President of Lifelines LLC, a venture created by Melissa and Doug Bernstein, specializing in mental health & wellness products, and was critical in fundraising efforts that garnered $30mm. She has also been the Chief Experience Officer at Thrive Global under Arianna Huffington, where she developed programming for both internal and external clients. She started her career at Bridgewater, the world's largest hedge fund, where she spent most of her time working with Ray Dalio, across different verticals of the fund. Ryden Brittany was recruited by Jen into Bridgewater and the two have a long history of working together. Post Bridgewater, Ryden coached and brought out the best potential in people through her work at Talentism and as the Founder and CEO of La Chispa Incubadora, which is an incubator based in Mexico. In this episode, Jen and Ryden talk about:- Building communities and investing syndicates: processes, LP structure, funding terms - Working with Ray Dalio and Arianna Huffington - Principles learned at Bridgewater Associates to achieve the highest potential - Differentiating between shiny objects and opportunities- Their favorite things to do in NYC!Share the episode with folks who are building a community of founders and investors and/or running an investment syndicate. Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
