For JC, life was just one big adventure waiting to be taken by the reigns. Though he devoted his life to many heroic duties such as spending his time as a firefighter and a paramedic rescue specialist in the Air Force, his real passion lied with adventure. So it was no surprise when JC launched a company devoted to training athletes and supplying adventure inspiration.
This inspiration was never in short supply, and this includes August 3 2021, when JC began what was supposed to be an educational video about an upcoming triathlon. To help fellow athletes understand the route, JC got into the murky green lake and began tracing the route while a friend piloted a drone just overhead - but unusual for JC, he left caution in the rearview when he jumped into Lake Thonotosassa in Hillsborough County, Florida that day, and a 12 foot American Alligator took the opportunity to attack JC in a surprise encounter that left him badly injured.
