Let's get started.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
Welcome everyone.
I'm Sofia Ay Yvette, co-hostand producer here in the studio
with Hunter Ross.
Hunter, how's it going today?
Speaker 3 (00:53):
Hey, it's going great
.
How are you, Sofia?
Speaker 2 (00:55):
I'm doing great
Hunter, so over the years you've
grown a remarkable following.
However, some listeners mightnot be familiar with your full
journey.
Let's take it from the top.
Could you share a littlebackground about your company
and what you do?
Speaker 3 (01:12):
Yeah, absolutely.
First off, I just want to saythank you for this, and doing
this first podcast is, I think,a beginning of a good journey
and I'm excited to share all thethings that we do and the
things that we've learned overthe time with everybody.
So I think it's going to be alot of fun.
So jumping into Wood Floors ofDallas and kind of what we do is
(01:34):
pretty straightforward.
We have been hardwood expertsfor a very long time for
hardwood flooring.
I started many years ago as arep in this business selling
other people's engineeredhardwood floors.
Through that process got tomeet a lot of really good people
in the industry both on themanufacturing side and
distribution side, as well asthe retail side of people who
(01:57):
sell floors to other people andalso make really good contacts
and find really good people whoare experts in their craft at
all the installation.
The way I got into the businessis a culmination of a lot of
studying, a lot of hard work andunderstanding the flooring
industry from kind of end to end, and then I had an opportunity
(02:19):
to start my own company and thatwas 12 years ago.
So been doing it a long timeand over the process just have
kind of made myself an expert bydoing all the investigation and
learning that's necessary tounderstand all the different
facets of the industry, all thedifferent products and the best
(02:39):
ways to do installation.
It's kind of where we startedfrom.
Today we are a full serviceflooring company.
We do all kinds of hardwood.
Of course, we specialize inhigh-end residential remodel.
For the most part, we dobuilder business.
We do commercial projects andmost of our clients call us when
(03:01):
they need a technical expert tosolve problems.
We also do full remodels nowwith kitchen and bath remodels,
et cetera.
So we act as a generalcontractor a lot of our big
projects.
That's been a long journey andwe've got an amazing team.
If it wasn't for them, Iwouldn't be here.
My support staff is awesome andall the people we work with in
(03:22):
the trades that we work with arereally good people that I've
known a long time.
So, yeah, we've built a prettysuccessful business and I'm
happy to share what we do witheverybody else.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
So, hunter, when
you're not busy running your
business, what do you do for fun?
Speaker 3 (03:40):
Ooh, lots of things,
Because when you work to all
hours of the day at night andyour phone never stops ringing,
you definitely have to have somemental breaks.
One of my favorite things to dois beach sand volleyball.
I play a lot of volleyballduring the summer and
paddleboard is a really good wayto clear your head at the end
of a long day.
I have a membership where if myday's going really hard or
(04:05):
strenuous dressed out, I canjust pull up to the place, grab
a paddleboard, go out and hangout and watch the sunset for an
hour or whatever it is to getthose breaks.
But I love being outside.
I love.
I also definitely spend a lotof time working out and eating
right and things like that, justto kind of keep the energy ball
rolling, if you will.
(04:25):
I have two boys.
One is 22 and one is 18.
And they're obviously in schooland doing all the things that
they do, but when I can, I spenda lot of time with them and the
family and friends, et cetera.
Speaker 2 (04:38):
Amazing, and family
is always so important.
So, hunter, you are a very busyperson and all of our listeners
want to know, in your own words, why are you doing this?
Speaker 3 (04:57):
That's pretty easy.
I know myself pretty well atthis point.
Right, I'm 44.
So I know what drives me and, more than anything else, I love
creating awesome stuff.
The benefit that you have with acustomer coming to you with a
problem or a need, the benefitthat you get out of it from
being able to take that need, turn it into a project and then
(05:20):
watch the whole thing unfold andthen the result being a very
happy client or a very happycustomer with beautiful new
flooring, for example, client ora very happy customer with
beautiful new flooring, forexample it's hard to beat that
reward.
So I think definitely for meit's the reward of getting to
make awesome things for people.
There's so many people that cancome into your home and kind of
(05:41):
say what they want to say toconvince you to do their work.
But it's a whole other level ofaccountability when you take
their jobs very seriously, likeyou treat their house like your
home, and that's what we dothroughout our kind of chain of
command, throughout everythingwe do is we consider every
single project important and wespend a lot of time and effort
(06:02):
and focus in making that happen.
And the end result is if we careabout your project and we put
all of our effort into making itdo the best that you can.
That reward is even greaterbecause, if they hadn't chosen
us, we feel very confidentlythat the other companies that
are out here in the market don'thave that kind of devotion to
(06:25):
the whole process and to endingwith such a good outcome.
The whole process and to endingwith such a good outcome,
customer service obviously beingthe most important thing that
we do, because anybody can do afloor, but it's the heart and
the integrity that you havebehind it to make sure that if
mistakes happen or anythinghappens with a project, that you
honor your commitments and youdo what's right.
So, yeah, that's kind of thedrive we have behind that, for
(06:49):
sure.
Speaker 2 (06:50):
Love it, Hunter.
We'll catch you in the nextepisode where we'll dive into
some frequently asked questions.
Have a fantastic rest of yourday.

Sophia.
