Speaker 1 (00:09):
Good morning guys.
Welcome to Word Up.
It is Monday morning and I hopethat you all had an amazing
Easter weekend, awesome timewith your church family.
Yesterday I know we did.
It truly was a very specialservice just to see following

(00:30):
Jesus come to life.
So in our Easter service weended the invitation with an
outdoor baptism and, just seeing, we had one of our men playing
Jesus and carrying the cross outand the church following Jesus
to the watery grave.
It really was a special, special thing to see and just to

(00:53):
challenge us and each one of us.
That should be every day.
That should not just be onEaster Sunday, but do we wake up
every day?
Just be on Easter Sunday, butdo we wake up every day and
truly commit to dying toourselves and following Christ?
And so I had one of mydaughters.
She was baptized yesterday, gave her life to the Lord

(01:16):
Wednesday night and I just thinkback to exactly what she said
to me.
Our message was on the prodigalson, but we talked about
negotiating with God, just likethe prodigal son in the story,
the way Jesus taught it, wherehe came and asked for his
inheritance early.

(01:36):
How many times do we justnegotiate with God and ask for
him to give us peace through asituation, because it's hard.
And then we run right back outto living our life.
And so she goes down to thealtar that night and she said
you know, I just went toapologize to God for negotiating

(01:57):
with him.
I hadn't truly given him myvery best, I hadn't surrendered
to him, I just negotiated withhim.
And she said, and when I gotdown there to apologize, he just
made it clear that the firststep was to completely surrender
, that I needed to give my lifeto him in order to move on.
And you know, then this morningI get up and I'm looking at.

(02:21):
I've started a new discipleshipgroup and through that
discipleship they have set quiettimes every morning, and quiet
time number one 1, john 5, 11through 13,.
God has given us eternal life.
This life is in his Son.
He who has the Son of God haslife.

(02:41):
He who does not have the Son ofGod does not have life.
I write these things so thatyou may believe in the name of
the Son of God has life.
He who does not have the Son ofGod does not have life.
I write these things so thatyou may believe in the name of
the Son of God and that you mayknow that you have eternal life.
Guys, coming off of EasterSunday, christ's death, his
resurrection, that's what madeit possible for you to be in a

(03:02):
right relationship with God,both now and forever.
The Bible calls thisrelationship eternal life.
We get so focused on the thingsthat we do and the way that we
do them that we completely missthe point of what God did and
where that assurance comes from.

(03:22):
It says I have written thesethings so that you may know Not
that we have to guess, not thatwe ever have to try to figure it
out.
He is the reason when he cameand died on that cross.
When we put our trust and faithin him, it changes everything.

(03:44):
And now a lot of the people thatare listening to this.
You know for sure that you'veput your trust and faith in
Christ.
You know for sure that you havefollowed him at some point in
your life.
But now I think about the waythat we're living it.
Whenever I see thatpresentation of Jesus walking
out of the sanctuary and thechurch, choosing to follow Jesus

(04:08):
, I have decided to follow Jesus.
Did you just decide that onetime in your life, or do you
decide that every single daywhen you wake up.
If I look at where you'respending your time and your
money, what does that look like?
What is important to you, basedon where we're spending our

(04:33):
time and our money when we getup every single day, does our
life look like we are sold outfollowers of Christ?
I think even deeper in my walkas I read that scripture.
Yes, I know for sure that Ihave eternal life.
I know for sure that I'veaccepted Christ.
But I also think about he gaveme eternal life.

(04:58):
He didn't give it to me just soI could go through the motions.
He gave me that so that I couldbe used by Him.
And if I truly am a sold-outfollower of Christ, if I truly
believe that he is in control ofall things, that he is great

(05:19):
and wonderful and eternal lifeis the number one priority in my
life, then you would think thatyou would see it in the way
that I live every single day.
You would see it in the thingsthat I'm doing, that I wouldn't
miss opportunities to share thegospel and to go out and build
up the kingdom.
That's where I would be puttingmy time and effort if, every

(05:43):
day, I'm getting up and I seeJesus carrying the cross and I'm
walking right behind Him.
And so why do we struggle withthat?
Because we get distracted bythe things of this world.
We get distracted by thinkingthat we need to go here and do
this and fit in here and spendour money here, and soon enough

(06:06):
we lose sight of where we'resupposed to be and who we're
supposed to be and what it isthat we're supposed to be doing.
So my challenge to you guyslook back at that scripture
today.
Go to 1 John, 5, 11 through 13.
Read that.
Do you know for sure that youhave the Son of God?
Do you know for sure that youhave eternal life?

(06:29):
Is that the most importantthing to you?
And if it is, know that thatpower lives inside of you.
What is it that God's callingyou to do today?
Make that the most importantthing on your schedule.
Take something off and putserving God in its place.

(06:50):
Go out and be bold in your walkwith Christ.
