In 1730, the enigmatic Mr Chicken was the last private resident of the now famous No.10 Downing Street, London, before graciously moving next door to accommodate the nation’s line of Prime Ministers who would take residence there for the next 300 years. Nothing more is known about Mr Chicken. Until today, when he’s now a writer, screenwriter, director and film-maker who sometimes goes by the name M.A.Batten.
After winning over 150 creative awards during a 25-year career in advertising, he decided to start telling stories that didn't involve brands or their ridiculous reasons to buy. He is now collecting awards for his screenplays and films including Best Screenplay at TMFF (USA), two first places at NYC Midnight (USA), finalist at Page International Awards (UK), semi-finalist at 39th Elche (Spain), and a list of Official Selections. His first short film HUNT starred Byron J Brochmann (X-Men, Unbreakable), his second short film MISSING starred Laraine Dix (Black Mirror, Bodyguard), and his award-winning feature film screenplay CAPTURE was written for Rupert Grint (Harry Potter series).
His first fantasy novel DARK: AND THE BOY IN THE HOLE is completed and currently seeking representation (hint, hint). Meanwhile, he’s concurrently editing his off-beat Star Wars fan film, producing his next short film, in pre-production of his upcoming podcast for screenwriters and actors and developing a TV show.
His daughter either enjoys what he writes or is a convincing little liar.
