Michelle Remington (00:35):
What is your emotional intelligence, some
call it an EQ. This is somethingI never really thought about,
until I found myself in themidst of postpartum depression,
ready to end my life. And Godintervened. And I latched on

(00:56):
with everything I had. Becauseat that point, that was all I
had. God was the hope. That'swhen I began to learn about
emotional intelligence and howreally, the Scriptures teach a
ton about emotionalintelligence. So today, we are
talking about EQ.

Mental Health Disclaimer (01:16):
Before we dive in, I do want to say
that I am not a mental healthprofessional. I'm simply sharing
from my experience withdepression, the strategies and
steps that helped me. So firstand foremost, I want you to know
that you are not alone. Reachout to friends and family, tell
them how you're feeling. Don'tbe afraid to ask for help. The

(01:40):
world is so much better with youin it. If you need help, or
resources, or just moreinformation for yourself or for
someone else, I encourage you toreach out to the National
Suicide Prevention hotline, their phone number is
1-800-273-8255. That's1-800-273-8255.

Michelle Remington (02:07):
Now, when it comes to emotional intelligence,
I'm still learning and I suspectI always will be I mean, this is
something that you're alwaysgoing to be learning about. And
as believers, emotionalintelligence is a tool that God
has given us through His Word.
Now that I've been learningabout what emotional
intelligence is, and how topractice emotional intelligence,

(02:30):
the more I read God's word, themore I see, like, Oh, I get that
now. Okay, I understand thatmakes a whole lot more sense now
that I'm understanding how toregulate my emotions, how to
recognize my emotions, and thentake action on how to deal with
it in a healthy way. And if Ineed to deal with it at all.

(02:55):
The Bible is full of knowledge,Proverbs, and wisdom that speaks
to our emotions, and ourthoughts. And it teaches us that
when coupled with God, workingin us, through His Spirit, all
things are possible, where humaneffort alone may fail. With the

(03:17):
Almighty God, the impossible canbecome your testimony. He sees
you, he knows you. Heunderstands you. And as you
deepen your relationship withGod, He will help you look
deeply within yourself. He'llwork through the deep pain, and

(03:41):
continue his perfect work in youto set you free, and bring you
closer to him. So I encourageyou, if you haven't made the
time today, make some time to goto God in prayer.
And a little exercise that youcan do to start learning

(04:04):
emotional intelligence would betake the top three things that
you often kind of beat yourselfup about, in your mind, the top
three things, take those toprayer. A lot of times I'm like
God, you know, I feel this. Whyis that all about? Where's it
coming from? And what God willdo is, take me back through a

(04:29):
memory and recognize, oh, that'swhere that started. That's where
that's rooted. I mean, guys, soamazing.
When you fully submit to God,every part of you, your
thoughts, your experiences, youremotions, your will, when you

(04:51):
just say, Here you go, God Youcreated me. Like I'm just, I'm
just figuring it out, trying towing it and you I'll figure out
how I can drive this plane. Butyou're the one that understands
how the engine works. You're theone that understands how every
part functions and what it'ssupposed to do and how it's

(05:12):
supposed to function. So I don'tthink I should be the one
piloting this plane. I think, Ithink, Lord, I trust you more
than I trust myself. So here yougo, I give it to you. I give
myself back to you, God, work inme move in me. However it is,

(05:34):
you need to work God, I give youfull permission to access every
pain, every joy, every darkmoment, every light moment and
everything in between God, fullyrestore me, God, I trust you.
It can be scary at first. But asis the title of this podcast, it

(05:59):
will be worth it. As the lateZig Ziglar said, it's not gonna
be easy. It's gonna be worth it.
That's kind of the story of thetitle. Part of it is that the
journey is worth it. And part ofit is to remind you that you are
worth the journey. Because a lotof times we need convincing just

(06:21):
that, that we can even take thejourney that we're worthy of the
journey because we've lost sightof our worth. So I hope this
encourages you today. I want tothank you again for joining me.
This has been a worth it moment.
And I hope it blesses you, inJesus' name.
