Have you ever found yourselffrustrated about your prayer
life? Not that you're not goingto God with your prayers, and
you're kind of listing off thatlaundry list of people that you

(00:50):
pray for things that you prayfor her. Or maybe you even have
those moments when you're like,I don't even know what to pray
for. Lord, please help me. Andyou get frustrated, because
there's that lack of focusthere. But then you're also
trying to listen to God, you'retrying to hear his voice, and
really spend that time with God,not walk in, make your list of

(01:15):
demands, and then walk out. Butjust really getting a hold of
God and having that time withyour Creator. With this is a
deep subject, we're going todive right into today. So grab
your coffee, grab your tea, graba notebook to make some notes,
and let's get to it.

(01:36):
Welcome to worth it, the podcastwhere we answer anxiety, deflate
fear, and shut down shame, because ain't no woman got time
for that you were made tothrive. My mission is to help
you get deeply rooted with Godand reclaim your weapon that the
enemy of God has been usingagainst you. After going to
battle for my own mind. Threeyears ago, I realized that there

(01:59):
is a war going on for our minds.
A battle that begins with how wethink says you have much more
control, then you realize witheach episode, you'll learn how
to fight back and become moreconfident in the truth that God
already knows, you are worth it.
I'm Michelle Remington,Christian mindset coach, thought

(02:19):
strategist, and warrior Mama.
Grab your sword, daughter of theking, it's time to unleash your
inner warrior princess.
Welcome back, warrior woman, thank you so much for joining me

(02:40):
for another episode of worth it.
So we're frustrated about ourprayer life. And there could be
many reasons for that. Maybeit's lack of focus and not
knowing what to pray for. Maybeit's you feel like you're going
through the motions. And you'regoing through this list of
things you're praying for, butyou're not feeling like you're

(03:00):
getting what you need from yourprayer life. I have been there.
And I am going to share with youtoday the things that I have
used the things that I have doneto help myself through this
process.
And the first thing I want totell you is that this is a

(03:20):
process, honey, you got to bepatient with yourself. Because
all of these things that you'retrying to change our behaviors.
And these behaviors didn'thappen overnight. They're
influenced by several differentareas of your life, outside
influences inside influencesyour thoughts, your emotions,

(03:42):
their spiritual things in there.
And I want you to just havegrace and mercy with yourself
through this process.
So I'm going to go through mylist of things that have helped
me actions steps that I'vetaken, that I have found most
beneficial to help my prayerlife, even with a preschooler at

(04:07):
home. It's sometimes as aparent, it can be difficult to
find that time. So either way,if you have kids, maybe you got
four babies that are demanding, you get a job that's demanding,
you need to make the time, makethe time for yourself through

(04:28):
this because if you don't maketime for yourself, you're going
to get burnt out. You're justgoing to fizzle burn out. And
that is most definitely not whatwe want. Because what I want you
to gain from this podcast is Iwant you to gain fulfillment. I
want you to gain encouragement.
And I want you to leave hopefulknowing that you've just been
equipped with something thatwill help you through this

(04:51):
process. And the number onething that I want you to do with
any advice that I give throughmy podcast is Take it to God,
take it to God, because this isall about you and your
relationship with God. If that'snot right, nothing else in life
is going to be right. So we gotto get that right.
So let's get started. So thefirst thing is probably the most

(05:15):
obvious thing, a distractionfree environment is going to be
challenging, you have to be veryintentional about this. And
you'll also want to be focused, and this is something that I'm
working on is gaining that focuswhen I go into my prayer time,
because I'll, I'll make thattime. And then I'll go in my

(05:38):
mind is not focused, kind oflike when you get the time to go
to sleep, but your brain won'tshut off. Same thing. So talking
about outside distractions, sothat means maybe putting the
phone in another room, turningoff all music, TV computer, just

(05:59):
get all that out of the spacethat you're in. And if you have
kids, maybe this is where youneed to either wake up early, or
stay up a little later. Or maybeduring the kids nap time or
something like that. I don'tknow what your schedule is, but
you know what time is gonna workfor you or you're going to find
it. And I know you will. And ifthis is a struggle for you, pray

(06:23):
about it. Be like, Lord, I wantmore of you. Please help me find
the time to have that communionwith you.
And then focus, focus. Let'stalk about that. So, focus has a

(06:45):
lot to do with the thoughts thatyou have going in your mind. But
it's also mainly how disciplinedyou are in those thoughts. And a
lot of times when you hearsomething like that, you may
think like, oh, disciplined inyour thoughts, like some kind of
drill sergeant or something. No,this is possible for all human

(07:09):
beings. You know how I know.
Because God made us that way.
And the Scriptures speak to thatdiscipline, that spiritual
discipline, that mentaldiscipline that He created us to
have, we just need to exerciseit, we need to build those

(07:30):
muscles, so that we can gainthat focus. And I myself am
working through this right now.
But I'm starting to see thefruits of it. So we know that it
is working. And it can work foryou too.
So when it comes to focus, thenumber one thing you're going to
want to look at is your gates, your gates, are your eyes, your

(07:52):
ears, your nose, your mouth, what are you letting in what are
you being influenced by. Andthen the other thing with focus
is maybe it's just, you know, you got a really busy life. And
you, you know, even when youhave time to just sit down and
relax, you're still thinkingabout all the things you got to

(08:14):
do. This is where the Word ofGod can be a different kind of
tool for you to where you cantake a particular scripture and
focus on that scripture. Ormaybe you want to focus on a
particular praise or worshipsong that just resonates with

(08:34):
you. This really speaks to youand where you are in your desire
in your relationship with God.
Next, we're looking at mindset, and attitude. Because a lot of
times, and I've definitely gonethrough this myself, a lot of
times we get frustrated withourselves, and what happens when

(08:56):
we get frustrated withourselves. Hmm, yep, we start to
be like, what's wrong with you?
Why can't you do this? And youknow, all those downer kind of
thoughts come into play. Sofirst, you're going to take that
to the Word of God, is it thetruth? And the answer is more
than likely, no. So we want tocheck our attitude before we go

(09:18):
into prayer. And you know what, there's a lot of times where I'm
just frustrated about the day. Imean, there have been a lot of
times where I'm just in I'm inthe middle of the day, I'm
frustrated. I haven't even takenthe time to pray yet because the

(09:38):
kiddo was up first thing in themorning and it was up and Run,
Run, Run, Run Run, and by thetime I get to go to prayer, but
by the time I get so frustratedthat I make the time to go to
prayer, I have this stankyattitude in the presence of God.
Yeah, some of that that don'tsound right does it?

(10:04):
So what I have started to do andwhat I find is most helpful is I
will literally just be truthfulwith God. I'm like, you know
what, Lord, I've been frustratedabout the day, I got this, this,
this, this and this going on.
And I am just, I'm frustratedright now just so Lord, can you

(10:25):
just just melt this away? Canyou help me with this
frustration? Can you help mewith this anger, or whatever
other emotion that you'refeeling. And for myself, when I
do that, I feel as I'm saying, these things, Lord helped me
with this, Lord, help me withthat. He's literally dissolving

(10:45):
these things away. So don't beafraid to be real with God, and
your emotions and how you'refeeling. Don't be afraid,
because God already knows. Butthe power is, when you actually
go before God, you speak thesethings before God. And you're
literally submitting them to Godand saying, you know what this

(11:07):
is what is happening. And themoment you ask for help, is when
you're going to see that powerand action. So keep that in
mind, especially if you havesituations going on where you
need to change your attitudebefore you get to that point of
taking the time to listen toGod.
And then the third thing isquieting your mind. This can be

(11:31):
applicable in so many differentareas of our lives, like those
moments when you are trying togo to sleep. And your mind just
keeps on going and going andgoing. Or if you wake up in the
middle of the night, and yourmind just keeps going and going
and going and you really wantedto go back to sleep. Or when you

(11:53):
just want to go to prayer.
You're just like, Lord, this isthe time that I have made to go
to prayer. Why isn't my mindshutting off. So the first thing
that you can do is prayer. AskGod to help you to quiet your
mind.
Secondly, remember that you havea choice. So if those thoughts

(12:13):
come into your mind, and a lotof times they're like those
anxious kind of thoughts, likewhat if this happens? And what
if this happens? You canliterally say out loud, even if
you want, no, I have a choice, and I will not let that thought,
take over my time with God. Andquite honestly, I will literally

(12:36):
just rebuke that in the name ofJesus, I'll say, No, the Lord
rebuke you in the name of Jesus.
I mean, whatever it takes, butwe've got power that God has
given us, because he is thesource of that power. He is the
power. So if God has given usmouths to speak, and minds to

(12:57):
understand the power of whoJesus is, why don't we use that
power? So I just started usingit. Girl, let me tell you,
there's times when I just rebukesome things that just seem
silly. But there's times when Irebuke my thoughts, and I rebuke
my emotions, and the Lordinstantly comes into action. So

(13:22):
do not forget that as abeliever, because you know who
Jesus is, and because you knowhis power, you can use that.
So you have a choice, rebukethose on wanted thoughts. I kind
of like to call it, rebuke, andreverse, right? If you even want

(13:46):
to take it that step. So maybeyou got to worry that comes into
your mind, well, what if thishappens to my kid? Or what if
this happens to me, because theyare rebuke that thought in the
name of Jesus, God has promisedthat he will protect me, I live
for God, I have dedicated myselfto God. And because of that God

(14:08):
has a hedge of protection aroundme, rebuke, and reverse.
Ask for help. If you are tryingto quiet your mind. Ask God to
help you quiet your mind. It'sfunny for a while, for a long
time, many, many, many years. Ikind of had this mindset of

(14:32):
like, why would I ask God tohelp me with my thoughts? I
should be able to regulate mythoughts or why should I help
God to help me to regulate myemotions and how I react to
things I should be able to dothat. You know, just like
putting this pressure onyourself, that you need to know
a discipline that you've neveractually learned?

(14:55):
It's really just expanding yourrelationship with God taken to a
whole new level, when we humbleourselves before God, and
recognize that Jesus is oursovereign, he's sovereign over
us. He is our God, our king, ourSavior, he knows us better than

(15:19):
we know ourselves. So why are wegoing to be some stubborn mule,
and reject the help that God isready to give? And says that he
wants to give come to me? Iguess I guess that scripture is

(15:39):
another think of it that thatscripture is really the one that
we turn to when we're just fedup with ourselves. And we're
just so burnt out trying to doit ourselves. When we hear come
to me, all you who are weary andheavy laden, and I will give you
rest. Well, why do we got to getto that point? I finally came to

(16:03):
that point, when I let it go toofar. And thankfully, God showed
up and saved me. That's when Irealized, why do I even have to
let it get so far that I'm wearyand broken down? Yes, that's an
option. But why am I going tobreak myself down when God is

(16:25):
trying to build me up? So askyourself that question, maybe
that's something that you needto address for yourself. I
didn't plan on saying that. Butthe Lord knows that he knows
somebody needs to hear that.
So I hope this has encouragedyou, I hope you have gotten some

(16:46):
insight and some good actionsteps that you can take to help
you and by all means, let meknow if these steps have helped
you. You can, if you've alreadyjoined the worth that group on

And you're so loving. And Ithank you so much, Lord, just to
know who you are. Debt, be ableto go to your in prayer and have
a relationship with you God. AndI pray that you would continue
