and how are you today?
Speaker 2 (01:13):
I'm doing great.
Speaker 3 (01:14):
I appreciate you having me.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
Oh yeah, nah, no problem, no problem. We had to
do a redo after the predictions of Summer Slam.
Speaker 3 (01:22):
Yeah, SummerSlam was something.
Speaker 1 (01:23):
Oh yeah, it was very shocking though. Like I said,
I'm very pleased with how the outcome of SummerSlam went,
and then I would say, what were your overall thoughts
about this year SummerSlam for Night one and two?
Speaker 2 (01:36):
You know, it's kind of interesting how everything went because
this was the first first two night that we've seen,
so we saw that experience. I mean, it's a mixed
bag because it's felt like with Night one it was like,
just don't really feel like a pl e if. It
was more like an episode of SmackDown. And I think
they really wrap it up on Night two with the action,
(02:00):
so it kind of put a better taste your mouth.
I think for their very first showing, it was a
mixed bag of results because like I think, after Night one,
I felt like, yeah, this didn't really need to be
a two night show, and you know what, part of
me still feels like it doesn't need to be a
two night show. But at the same time, they stuck
the landing with Night two, and probably.
Speaker 3 (02:21):
I say Night two.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
Had the better action for sure, for sure, but I
think going the future, they'll have to do some better
things as far as what this looks like as far
as a two night event as opposed to so many
years being a.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
One Yeah, I have to agree with you. You know,
after Night One, it's like you really, you really thought, Okay,
do you really need a night too? Because what they're
gonna have to do now, Okay, it looked like they're
gonna stick with the night too because they're doing it
again next year. They're gonna have to get a bigger
match card than what they had, you know, even though
(02:55):
some of the matches there with decent, of course, and
I did have some favorites, and I had some favors,
but they're gonna have to really expand it. And I
think the way they need to do it is have
NXT involved the Summer Slam as well.
Speaker 3 (03:08):
Yeah, that'd be fun.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
I mean, a lot of the young superstars, I think
what messed up for me it was like a lot
of the matches, while they tried to make them feel big,
it's like maybe the bill to the match didn't didn't
warrant a Poe spot for certain things, mm hmm. And
I think that's what deluded element for me, at least
with Night one. It felt like Night one was such
a such a drag, which is unfortunate because it's always
(03:32):
a good thing we have as many superstars, you can
get on a big card, but at the same time,
it just felt like we were just passing the time.
Speaker 1 (03:40):
Yeah, true, Yeah, it seemed like Night two paved the
way for Night one because it's like it kind of
I mean, Night one was okay, even though, like I said,
you had decent matches, but it was something about Night
two that stood it out. So that's when I'm saying
moving forward, Okay, if they're gonna do too nice, it's fine,
but you gotta keep it going and keep it in
the tain and keep people. But wanted to see what's
(04:01):
gonna happen for Night too. So that's what I'm saying.
They're gonna have to get like a bigger match card.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
Yeah, do something to keep me engaged as a fan, Yep,
to make me want to see these matches, Like a
lot of these were just it felt like some of
the matches were kind of I don't want to say
they were thrown together, but at the same time, they
didn't feel as monumental for the biggest event of the
summer as they call it.
Speaker 1 (04:26):
Yep. Yeah, it was kind of like some stuff you
would see off Roles mackdown.
Speaker 3 (04:31):
Yeah pretty much.
Speaker 1 (04:32):
Yeah, fortunately, I know. Yeah, we would have wanted to
be more excited, but overall, like I said earlier, I'm
pretty much pleased with Mostly Night too. You know, of course,
with Cody Rowls becoming a new champion again and that
was a great match. I gotta say they put they
did that, they think way better than WrestleMania, and I'm
hoping by next year they could get an sp A
(04:55):
War for that performance, as that was a great match.
You've seen Sena at his best and you seen Cody
at his best, and it was it was pretty much
a war between those two, and that's what we should
we should have gotten at WrestleMania. But at least it
was able to make up for Somerslam. So I was
pleased with that match, and of course I was I
now want to talk about ninety one. I was kind
(05:16):
of disappointed because I had wanted to see seeing punk
and walk out of Somerslam as a champ. But of
course seth Ronis had to interfere and you know, cash
in on him and whatnot. So now that's going to
make that rivalry keep going even more.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
Man. The crazy thing is, I think we knew something
was going to happen because that's been like that's been
a long running thing that seth Rollins is just gonna
be lingering around seeing Punk, which I think a lot
of people got fatigued about it. But the way they
did that, and the only reason I say I like
it is because, I mean, the rest of the card
(05:52):
on night one was kind of kind of average, but
that moment that that was probably the biggest moment of
the weekend.
Speaker 3 (05:59):
For being honest, it just.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
Was yeah, because he made it seem like he was hurt,
but I know something was gonna happen. When he dropped
them crutches, I'm like, Okay, he's finna go ahead and
cash in on him.
Speaker 3 (06:11):
Very very well executed.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
I kind of wish they would have teased it a
little bit more, meaning like I wish that Paul Hayman
would have actually been walking to the back with him
as well. And then it happened. But just just judging
by how Viralid went the views just an excellent camera
angle and shot of him dropping the crutches. It was like, Okay,
(06:34):
it's great. How many times can you do.
Speaker 3 (06:38):
A heist?
Speaker 2 (06:39):
How many times can you screw see him punk? And
we actually get invested in care about how it was done.
That was masterfully done and a decade too, was it
like a decade since his first catching at WrestleMania, Like,
so you know, I think they paid to that stuff,
and I thought it was really well done.
Speaker 1 (06:59):
Oh yeah, yeah it was. It had me by shock.
I'm like, wait a minute, because it had been so long,
it had been over ten years since Punk had been champion.
Speaker 2 (07:08):
Oh yeah, oh yeah, It's glad he climbed the mountain.
I mean, it says a lot to me that they
even allowed Punk to go for going through in that way.
Going Through hasn't been penned cleanly very much since being
in WW at all.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
Sure, so the.
Speaker 3 (07:25):
Fact that Punk did it and the match kind of.
Speaker 2 (07:28):
Resembled I think it was Rocky three. It resembled like
Rocky three where Punk really just got bruised and battered
the whole time but still was able to overcome the
odds just to be better for three seconds. So told
that type of story. Was it Punk's best match? Maybe not,
(07:48):
but I mean any an he went over going Through
is huge and we haven't seen Gunther since. So yeah,
that's that's like a huge accolade for Punk, whether he's
champion or not.
Speaker 1 (07:58):
Yeah. True, I heard he was he silent and he's
sidelined due to an injury. This is gone through.
Speaker 3 (08:04):
Yeah, see he might be I read something like that too.
Speaker 2 (08:07):
I don't know what it is because, like they said,
they said he was dealing with a nose injury, which
is ironic because the nose is what got busted open
at SummerSlam. So maybe he was having some breathing problems.
Maybe there's something that takes a little bit of time
to actually heal, and they use that to tie into
his match with Punk, which again masterfully done. It's like
(08:29):
Gunnthro hasn't been beat up like that, so he finally
saw his own blood and freaked out.
Speaker 1 (08:35):
Yep. Sure, I've never seen him believe like that, but
like I said, I was as happy to see him.
Pump was able to get the win. But since you
know Seth did cash in on him, I still predict
that next year they're gonna push him to possibly win
the Royal Rumble to try to beat Seth for that
title at Mania, and that Pump don't wind Rumble, then
(08:55):
I think they're gonna push Sammy Zain to win a Rumble.
I know. Between those two guys, I feel like they
could win the Rumble next year. Yeah, it's like you
gotta look at the White Pump had dropped the title
to you know, he just had the title and Dan's gone,
and you gotta look at the Sam Muzay he's hungry
for a world champion opportunity.
Speaker 3 (09:14):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (09:15):
I see it being one of those guys or unless
there's somebody that just catches fire at the end of
the year here and it's like you can't deny him,
like like for me, carrying Cross comes to mind. If
he's somehow still actually with the company or gets re signed,
they're gonna pay that for it, because I don't think
anybody really thought they would pay it for with Jay
(09:35):
this year with John Cena, yeah, rumble, but they did so.
I think some of those things in the crowd audience
participation really matters a lot because there's more than one
way to get to WrestleMania, and we saw it.
Speaker 3 (09:50):
We saw.
Speaker 2 (09:52):
Saw Jay win the Rumble, we saw John win Elimination Chamber. Yeah,
they got multiple avenues now, which makes is it cool
for fans?
Speaker 1 (10:01):
Yeah? It do. It's like, you know, if it's like
a plan B, if that Plan A don't work for people,
for somebody to win to rumboldon as Plan B elimination chamber,
and Seena did approve that way all this year.
Speaker 3 (10:14):
Absolutely.
Speaker 1 (10:15):
Yeah. So now what would you said would be some
of your favorite matches if you have any.
Speaker 2 (10:20):
You know what, just thinking back, because I mean, I
think my favorite match, it's tough to go against the
uh the scene of Cody, Like I don't like the
result of Ceda Cody, but that was so beautifully done,
like really callback so many of Johnson's greatest moments.
Speaker 3 (10:41):
It was a very long, hard hitting match and it
felt like.
Speaker 2 (10:46):
I mean, it felt like the twenty tens John Cena,
like super John, and I really believed that we were
seeing peak John like that. If you told me that
was one of Johnson's best matches in his catalog, I
wouldn't disagree. But just because of what it was and
how crazy it was, I want to say the six
(11:09):
pack TLC match was probably my favorite.
Speaker 3 (11:13):
They did it very well. They didn't have to go.
Speaker 2 (11:19):
They didn't have to really leave that space around the arena,
and they used all that space to advantage. I mean,
it's absolutely chaos all over the place, but all those spots.
Speaker 3 (11:26):
They did.
Speaker 2 (11:29):
Kenis Larray taking the table spot the Wyatt Six using
the numbers advantage. I thought that was a beautifully structured
match and something that we've never seen before.
Speaker 3 (11:39):
Mm hmm.
Speaker 1 (11:40):
Yeah, I have to agree that CLC match was a
good match, and it was good that they bought back
the Dudley Boys and the Hardy Boys to watch that match.
You know. I just wish that Edge and Chrishta could
have been there, but I do understand they affiliated with
ae W, so that's probably why they didn't show up.
But it would have been nice to see those guys
because if it wasn't for those three, we wouldn't even
(12:00):
have have a THLC match and we would have never
seen what we saw a Samma slam in that match.
Speaker 2 (12:06):
Correct, Yeah, I think that was That was an anniversary time
that they had them there, so it was good that
they paid tribute. Kind of kind of a strange audience,
you know, where they're at in Jersey. Some of the
fans weren't very receptive of the Wyat six winning, and
I mean I remember being on the show. I picked
Androtti and Phoenix. I thought, I mean, they do this
(12:28):
stuff with tag teams all the time. It's a good
way to keep the WYAT six safe from actually taking
a pen. But interesting decision, but also even more interesting
seeing fans kind of have.
Speaker 3 (12:40):
Fatigue of the group, which is.
Speaker 2 (12:43):
I didn't think I don't think the company planned for
stuff like that this fact.
Speaker 1 (12:48):
Mm hmmm, no, no, But it was still, like I said,
I mean, I understand why they won. It was because
they just won the titles though, so I don't think
that that the b is ready for them to drop
them titles.
Speaker 3 (13:03):
Probably not.
Speaker 1 (13:04):
Probably not.
Speaker 2 (13:05):
I don't think they need belts to be an effective group.
But at the same time, if what the story, the
story as they're telling is that they're they're putting chaos
in the Tag Team division and they can't be beat,
so the Tag Team division has to come together to
figure out a way. I'm trying to see the play
here because SmackDown's Tax Team Division is probably the best
(13:27):
in the company, and it's almost like we're hindering the
growth of division now with the WYA six.
Speaker 1 (13:36):
Okay, yep. And then you notice that they're starting to
like it's like they're trying to put them in the
storyline with the tag teams. It's like they be trying
to scare the teams it's like I don't know if
you saw on SmackDown last week, but it was when
the when the MTF was talking and next thing you know,
Tala was just looking back there and they walked away,
and then next thing you know, you've seen one of
(13:57):
the WYA six come out. Yeah, so I think that's
the idea of what they're doing.
Speaker 3 (14:04):
It was gaysy.
Speaker 2 (14:06):
I think that was just wandering in the back, and
then they came out during the segment later on, so
it was like they're just I mean, I think it
makes more sense. It doesn't need a title to be
like just the scary figures in the background. But it
feels like with them as champions, like there their mission
has no direction for some reason, they're not They're not
(14:27):
doing the thing where it's like, hey, you have a
dark past and we want to hold you accountable for
it and giving people the tapes no more. I think
that that was great. The tapes were great. It's like, oh,
we've been watching you for some time, we're going to
hold you accountable for your sins type of thing, and
it's like we're not doing any of that because they're
tag team champions exactly.
Speaker 1 (14:49):
Yep. Yeah, that's true. Yeah, But like I said, that
was a good match. But I would definitely have to
say my favorite national course. We was just talking about
it a scene versus Cody. Like I said, that was
all out brawl, and then of course Sena and Cody
bought it to one another. It was times when you
seen Cody get frustrated, it was times when you saw
Sena get frustrated. It was just all the all out
(15:11):
war and that's and like I said, that's what should
have happened at Mania. But I got to say they
made up for it this year a SummerSlam and then
like I said, I'm hoping cross on my fingers, they
get their SB Award and then to see the return
of brock Lesnar after that hands down clever move, and
then of course it makes sense for them in the
battle one more time before Sena is officially done, because
(15:33):
I still say they have unfinished business. So I just
think it was smart for the WW to brank him
back after that match between Cody and Sena, which was
one of the best matches on the mail sat on
the match card, and of course I would have to
say another favorite match was Becky Lynch versus Libra. That
was a good match, you know. Yeah, they was in
(15:55):
the hardcore match, Like I said, hands down great. And
then I had a feeling that Bailey was gonna interfere
but it looked like she was trying to help out Lara.
But of course that you know, didn't go as planned.
But I am curious to see what they're gonna do
with her carots are moving forward, because it's like on
this past episode of SmackDown, it's like she was hearing
(16:17):
voices and stuff in her head. So you wondering, are
they gonna move with her Carrots are being schizophrenia schizophrenic
or whatnot? What's gonna happen now?
Speaker 3 (16:27):
Yeah, I'm still catching up on some of the past
couple of raws.
Speaker 2 (16:34):
I normally do the raw post show and watch along
on WWT, being kind of busy, but I have seen
these segments with Bailey where she's almost looking into her
past for guidance, right, And the cool thing is it's
like she hears the role model who was the star
of the pandemic. I believe that's when she was a
(16:54):
double champ. Of course, Bailey's your first ever Women's Grand
Slam champion. So many accolades just from the pandemic run,
but she's also hearing voices of the Hugger and who
she was coming into WW and the main roster, so
she's trying to see which person kind of like identity crisis,
which is cool. I think that's a good space for
Bailey to figure out which way she wants to go
(17:15):
or to invent something new. She's needed this character shift
for some time, Like even when she won at WrestleMania
last year. To me, it felt flat her beating Eo.
It didn't feel like it it stuck. So I think
what we see would Bailey be cool. I'm curious to
see what happens with Lyra Beau. I don't think Lyra's been.
Speaker 3 (17:37):
On the past uh she she wasn't on this.
Speaker 2 (17:41):
Past Monday Night raw, I don't think, but she was
on the one h after SummerSlam. Does Lyra start challenging
for the Big Belt? Does she move over to to
SmackDown and challenge Shiffney Stradden or challenge the United States
champion Julia.
Speaker 3 (17:59):
There's there's some great things you can do with Lyra
and Julia, by the way, but also like.
Speaker 2 (18:05):
Hope this isn't a spoiler because we're talking about Summer
Slam that we need a new women's champion on raw.
Does Lyra fit into that picture now that she can't
challenge for the IC title anymore.
Speaker 1 (18:16):
Yep, yeah, I mean you never know. And then and
that is some good theories about what Lyra could possibly do.
But I do say she is going to go after
the world heavyweight championship, I mean the women's world heavyweight title,
of course, with Naomi is expecting now and of course
she had to vacate the title. Okay, now they're finna
do a tournament and I could see Lyra possibly winning
(18:39):
that title, and if not, I could see Ria possibly
getting that title back. Or you never know, it could
be EO, you just never know.
Speaker 2 (18:48):
I think congratulations Naomi, and in Big GYM first and four,
like it's a beautiful, blessing run of a lifetime for Naomi,
from winning money in the bank, from having a character
shift the moment which with the Big Three and Bianca
and Jade cashing in at Evolution, winning the title, having
a beautifully done interest with her father who was as
(19:11):
a world renowned guitarist now expecting a child. Unbelievable run
by her and I'm pretty sure it's like all the
things she ever wanted before in the company when she
originally left to go to TNA and.
Speaker 3 (19:24):
Rebuild her name.
Speaker 2 (19:25):
I think now with the title being up for grabs,
I really think it's paved the way for Stephanie Vaker.
And I think now the star that was so bright
that we saw NXT and then the appearances on Triple
A and things like that, now you can really put
that into high gear. And I think we're going to
(19:48):
see that, Like we're seeing this stuff with with EO
and Rhea and their respectful friendship, and now the stuff
happening with Oscar and Kyrie, and now it's like, are
they do they have each other's backs? Is their animosity?
I know Oscar just released a video I think yesterday,
but stephan Thecorius is there chilling. She was the number
(20:11):
one contender for Clash in Paris next weekend. I don't
know if we're building a number one contender to face
Stephanie for a vacant title, if we're gonna have multiple
women in the match, but seems like a good a
time as any for Stephanie to just carry that brand,
something fresh, something new, somebody who puts on great matches.
Speaker 3 (20:32):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (20:33):
I don't think she was gonna beat Naomi, I'll be clear,
but now it just just makes sense they do.
Speaker 1 (20:39):
Yeah, and I can see Liva. I mean, excuse me.
I could see Stephanie possibly doing something because I'm actually
a fan of her. You know, it's like she called
on very fast. It's like she was she was doing
her thing on nx T and now she's doing her
thing on the main roster. So I could definitely see
Stephanie doing something. And of course with her having a
(21:00):
victory at Evolution, of course that that really made a difference.
And that's just basically the introduction of Stephanie back here.
It's like she's read. I think she's ready, but I
but it's like, if she don't get that the world title,
now I think she could possibly become the women's I
S title. That could be an another compet that could
be more competition for Becky lynch Okay Becky versus Stephanie.
(21:23):
And if that don't work, then the course she'll try
to get after the world title and then I could
possibly see her winning the Women's Royal Rumbo next year.
Speaker 3 (21:32):
You just never know.
Speaker 2 (21:34):
Oh yeah, yeah, there's so many options they had, Like
they're not in a bad space.
Speaker 3 (21:42):
At all.
Speaker 1 (21:43):
Mm hmm, no, they not. They could definitely do something though.
But I could see Stephanie doing something though, because, like
I said, she you know, she has had a breakout
moment on the brand, so she has been doing a thing.
And then, now, what would you think about that match
between Roman, Reins and Jay who saw versus Broun and Bronson.
Speaker 3 (22:03):
I'm you know what.
Speaker 2 (22:05):
I had the bron Brons winning, of course, but I'm
surprised they lost. I thought that would be a good
time to position them as a as a strength. While
the Jay and Roman thing, I don't I want to
say it's being repaired. It's already repaired, but like they
don't team with each other that much anymore, so I
thought that would play a role. I think Roman, at
(22:29):
the biggest show of the summer pulled out some stuff
you never see him do. That dive over the top
bro he overshot the landing point. I guess who he
was aiming for. But I think what's cool is since
Roman and j One, Jay's positioned himself to be back
in the world title picture and Roman is kind of
an attraction. Now he's there, he's looking to get his
(22:50):
revenge against Seth and this faction. Now we know that
Seth is not hurt, we got to feel like that's
gonna happen sooner rather than later.
Speaker 3 (22:58):
But also.
Speaker 2 (23:00):
Roman's an instrink spot because he's not the top of
the mountain right now, and it's a chance for him
to work with some next up and coming stars like
Bronson Reed, like bron Breaker doing the Spear versus Spear thing,
and I think the layers that they showed of storytelling
in that match is what's gonna feed us for the
next months until we get into the next WrestleMania season.
Speaker 1 (23:23):
Yep, that's true. I could see him doing that, and
I love that saved though, It's like he had took
that spirit for j oh so I thought that was
a good move and then for them to go ahead
and get the victory. So I was happy though, even
though I predicted that bron and bronstaid was gonna win.
But I guess at the end of the day, it
made sense for Roman and Jada win just to let
(23:44):
them know that the bloodline is still dominant.
Speaker 3 (23:47):
Yeah, that's that's true. It's not other thing. The blood
line is still dominant, and the cool thing is.
Speaker 2 (23:52):
I guess no, No, everybody's not in one space anymore,
because Sammy just moved to SmackDown. But you can see
it kind of form again in passing with like with Jacob,
Sammy and Jimmy and now Roman and Jay having each
other's back on Raw. You can see those ties are
still there. So maybe we really are still in the
(24:14):
early stages of that story being told and everybody was
just on a side mission.
Speaker 1 (24:19):
Mm hmm, yeah that's what I think. Yeah, but overall
was a good match for Roma. Got to get them
shoes back. He lost. I won, but two shoes.
Speaker 3 (24:27):
Two pair of shoes, and I want them sold on
WWE shot. I want them sold.
Speaker 1 (24:32):
Yeah, they should do something like that. And but he
got a big feet. I think he is SaaS fifteen.
It might be yeah, yeah, he up there and shoe sizes.
Speaker 3 (24:42):
With a super falla tribal thief. It's oh, great, great
thing for Bronson Breed what.
Speaker 1 (24:48):
They're doing with him exactly. I'm getting a nice little push.
And then it just made sense for the vision to
come together all the way that they did. Yeah, So
now what would you say about that match between Charlotte
and Alexa versus Rock Hill and the Rock Sand for
the tag team titles.
Speaker 3 (25:04):
Good match.
Speaker 2 (25:05):
You see the partnership and the real tag team building
between Alexa and Charlotte, even Charlotte still saving Alexa after
eating a punch for it that was clearly accidental. Yeah face, Yeah,
I guess I'm still in waiting c mode on them
as a tag team, and of course they they have
(25:27):
their own merch. They're becoming more and more like friends.
It reminds me of Cain and Daniel Briant with Team
Hell Knows so much, like just this awkward pairing that
you didn't expect that went on to do great things.
It's a great space for Charlotte, especially after her players
should do an article to get the adoration and fanfare
she rightfully deserves, and keeps her away from the major titles,
(25:49):
including the singles mid card titles. So I can't be
mad at it. I just don't see why. I just
didn't see, like, why pull the titles off Judgment Day
so soon into this, like this version of Roxanne that
was taking over for Live. That's what I don't get.
Maybe they'll get another rematch, Maybe the tag team be
(26:11):
short lived.
Speaker 3 (26:12):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (26:12):
But that's the only thing that confused me is that
I felt like they pulled the trigger too soon for
Charlotte and Alexa.
Speaker 1 (26:19):
Yeah. True, but you know what I mean, you just
never know. I mean because you typically when people lose
the titles, they got something better in store for them.
So I'm thinking, like maybe for Roxanne and Roquel, you know,
it might be something better going on for them, So
I mean, you never know, liv might be on her
way back soon, you know, and then they might start
(26:41):
and then maybe Roqueale and Roxanne may start to have
issues with one another and then they battle one another.
You just never know. And then of course Live might
make a return at some point, and you never know,
she might join SATs with either Roquel or Roxanne. But
it's like we got to find out. So I'm thinking
they dropped titles for a reason because I think something
(27:02):
better is gonna happen. But you never know, maybe Alexa
and Charlotte, Charlotte might not have the titles that long,
or maybe they might have them because I don't know
if you saw them, but you know how she got
Lily the Doll and they had introduced Charlie the Doll,
So that could tell you something that maybe they gonna
team up a little longer and have the titles longer
than what we think.
Speaker 2 (27:23):
Maybe that's what I'm saying. It's such a weird it's
such a weird landing spot for both.
Speaker 3 (27:31):
That maybe it just becomes one of these things where
they make the most of it. I have no idea.
Speaker 1 (27:36):
Yeah, it's like we just gotta watch you keep on looking.
But they are cool to start as champions. Stuff you
think about it. I'm talking about with Charlotte and Alexa.
I mean, they dominated on NXT and now to come
to the main roster and finally team up after this time,
I guess it just made sense to do it. But
it's like, I don't know. I mean, if this is
short lived, the least they could say, we could say
(27:57):
they want the titles.
Speaker 3 (27:58):
Yeah exactly.
Speaker 1 (28:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (28:00):
They did achieve the.
Speaker 1 (28:02):
Accolade exactly, something that we didn't expect though. Now, what
would you say about the match between Sammy and carry across.
Speaker 2 (28:12):
Another one that was a shocker, especially knowing that we
know now.
Speaker 3 (28:17):
I thought that.
Speaker 2 (28:20):
I thought this was a good time to put crossover,
and I think the only time he beat Sammy. If
he did, it was on a Monday Night Raw where
he kind of cheated to win. So I don't know
what they were trying to tell with Cross. But at
the same time, now in the aftermath, we know that
Cross and Scarlet their contracts weren't renewed, and you can
watch Crosses log and documentary that he had that has
(28:43):
so many views right now kind of telling her story.
I think he just got his first independent date as well.
So this was if this was like the culmination of
all that stuff they were doing for months. It was
done very weird. It wasn't one of the best matches.
It was a typical Sammy's ain't match that ain't went
over Across, And now we know that Sammy is on
(29:04):
officially on SmackDown and a completely different storyline going against
Solo for the US title, which none of it makes sense.
It's like such a fever dream that we spent all
this time Across being in Sammy's ear just to like
lose the big one. So I don't know, it doesn't
(29:25):
It didn't put a great taste in my mouth, and
now we just have to try to act like it
didn't happen.
Speaker 1 (29:30):
Is that, Yeah, because I thought that was a good
idea to pair up across to Sammy to work with
one another, because as you know, Carrie and he hasn't
been getting bigger pushes like that, so I felt like
it made sense for him and Sammy to work together,
and it would have been cool to see Sammy do it.
He'll turn and they possibly become a team together for
some time, and so one of them turned on one another,
(29:53):
and then it possibly could have put him on SmackDown
to team up with the with the blood line, you know,
just to make it make sense. Because it's like I
hated when they starts storylines, it gets interesting and then
that's it. Mm hmm. They just nowhere exactly. So that's
what I felt like they did with Sammy and Cross.
They pulled that plug too soon. I would have wanted
(30:15):
to see more because Cross was it looked like he
was getting in Sammy's head for one second, and it's
like we wanted to find out was he ever going
to get in his head? So where Sammy just say, Oh,
I'm gonna do what I got to do to get
to the top. You know, I don't care about this.
I don't care about that, you know, we would have
wanted to see something like that exactly.
Speaker 3 (30:35):
That that's where I thought we were going with everything.
Speaker 1 (30:36):
But yeah, that it was a tease basically. Yeah. So, now,
what would you say about the match between Tiffany and Jade.
Speaker 2 (30:46):
That one was a that one was a car crash.
I agree, it felt it felt very stiff, and not
in a good way. Like everything looked very stiff, and
even the ending kind of felt flat.
Speaker 3 (31:04):
You know.
Speaker 2 (31:05):
Now, Tiffany has the accolades of like, hey, I beat
Charlotte Flair WrestleMania, I beat Jade Cargill.
Speaker 3 (31:13):
Who is unbeaten. I've beaten Nya Jackson. You guys said
I could.
Speaker 2 (31:16):
And it's like, I don't know what we're doing with
Tiffany or which are what kind of story we're trying
to tell with her title reign. She's got some big wins,
but none of their performances are necessarily memorable, at least
in my opinion, So like beating Jade, and I think
Jade's very much still in the picture, judging by this
most recent SmackDown, I would hope that I don't think
(31:40):
fans are getting Tiffany fatigue, but it's It's definitely not
the best title reign, if I'm being honest.
Speaker 3 (31:47):
It doesn't.
Speaker 2 (31:47):
It doesn't feel like the division around her is like
what they're doing with it doesn't make her division feel strong.
Speaker 1 (31:56):
I'll put it. It's like she needs more competition. But
I definitely have to agree with you. This match was
the car crash number one. The match was not long
at all. I felt like I was looking looking at
watching them wrestle for five minutes, and next thing you know,
Jay's showed us down for the three count. I'm like, okay,
but I understand why Tiffany retained, but I felt like
(32:17):
that match should have been longer than what it was.
Seven minutes, right, Yeah, that's too short. And then Jake
and I know Jane and Tiffany could go longer than that.
You know, My thing is, you know, she even had
a better match with Naya Jackson. I felt like she
had a better match with Naya. Make her have even
a better match with Jay car Gill. That's what I
(32:37):
think should have happened. They should have had them wrestle
a little bit longer than that. And then too, I
just felt like, in my opinion, they could have had
it to where Jay kickout on one prettiest Moon Salt,
and then the second one she do maybe that'll beat her.
That's making more interested. I don't think she should have
taken that three fall, that three count fall on the
first Moon Salt. I think either a second know a
(33:00):
third one should have been it to make the match
longer and interesting, show that she's.
Speaker 2 (33:08):
A real problem to the title, and that she really
had to put her away. That's why it's like, oh, wow,
like are we doing like this unbeatable force that's Tiffany Stretton.
That made no sense to if you were pressed for time.
Speaker 3 (33:22):
Cool, I get it, but.
Speaker 2 (33:24):
Like, we don't get Jade out of here that that
quick and then make it seem like, oh, she's still
a threat in the.
Speaker 1 (33:30):
Division, right, That's what I felt like they did. It's
like they didn't really give her a chance to really
challenge Tiffany for that title. It's like, Oh, we're just
gonna let them to fight for seven minutes and that's it. Nah,
that shouldn't have been more of a match because, like
I said, I know both of them can go longer
than that. There's no way she should have been put
over in seven minutes. I'm sorry, you know, especially with
(33:52):
her making an impact on the main roster. You think
about it, Jay entered her first WrestleMania when she was
into the company for a few months, and then she
goes to wrestlem In again this year, so that tells
you there she has potential to become Champion, but they
just have to utilize her properly. And I'm hoping that
they get a rematch soon because that just wasn't it.
(34:15):
I just felt like that match shouldn't have been better done.
And I don't know who produced that match, but hopefully
they get a better producer or the producer could produce
better than that, because I know we got Survivor series
that's right around the corner. So I'm hoping, crossing my fingers,
they could get a rematch and it could be a
hardcore match or something to make it interesting, you know,
(34:36):
show what Jay can really do, show what Tiffany can
really do with Champion. So that's all I got to
say about it. I mean, that just was my least
favorite match. So now, what would you say about the
match between Drew and Logan versus Randy and Jelly Roll?
Speaker 2 (34:52):
Oh Man, this is another one where I get the
crossover appeal stuff like that. This match had way more
Jelly Roll than I thought, way more, and I mean
not for no reason. They want to showcase like, hey,
he's really been training, he's really been trying. But shout
(35:14):
out to him forgetting the ring, living his dream. I
think that's important. He took a very very nasty table spot.
I was surprised at the Heels won and drew and
Logan Paul. Maybe that sets up something with Logan Paul
and Jelly Roll down the road. But nothing about the
match made me feel like, oh, yeah, Jalli Rowl is
like a threat to either of them, and maybe that's
(35:36):
maybe that's what you want to showcase, is that, hey,
he had heart and he tried. Yeah he bit off
more than he can chew. You can tell at times
he was really gassed in the ring and and yeah,
I mean they lost, but he still got up and
got his respect afterwards. Salute for jumping in the ring
(35:57):
and taking some of those spots in those bumps. But
this is another thing where like the build up got
me bought into it, but in no shape or forms,
it's just this match should not have been the Komaine
on Night one. That's where you lost me, like you
could have sandwiched this in somewhere, like maybe after crossing
(36:23):
Zane or before, But by no stretch of the imagination,
this should have been the comaine of the first night.
Speaker 1 (36:31):
I agree, it was a lot of hype, and that's
one thing the WWE do when celebrities get in the ring,
it be too much hype and then that's what you get. Now.
Don't get me wrong. I do respect Jelly Roll for
getting in the ring. You know, as much punishment as
he took and he still walked away. But you know,
it was all right. But he did put a message
in that match, like don't give up, just keep going.
(36:52):
But I do say for his first wrestling match, that
was too much for him to take that table shot
like that. It's like, low, do the throg splash and
crash him through the table. I felt like that was
a little bit too much for his first match, But
I kind of get what they was doing. But I
still said for the first match, they could have did
something else.
Speaker 3 (37:13):
Yeah, I agree, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (37:15):
Yeah, that was too much, But like I said, it
was a decent match. I mean, like I said, he
put a message behind like you just keep going, no
matter how hard it is to just go and at least,
you know, he got a chance to work with Randy Ordan,
which is hey, he's a future Hall of Famer, so
at least he got that that opportunity to live out
his childhood dreams. And then he still uppere at night
(37:36):
too when they introduced him. Yeah true, yeah, yeah. So
other than that, that was a decent match. Now we did
talk about seeing Punk versus Gone Through. I would have
to say that was one of my favorite Seeing Punk
matches because he really bought the He really gave gone
Through a run for his money. It's like, but he
gave him a good fight. And if you think about it,
(37:57):
you know, seeing Punk has been trying to has been
trying to be champion now for over ten years since
that was the last time he held the title, so
to finally see him get it and it was short lived, okay,
I get it. But then again too, like I said earlier,
I think they might push him to possibly win the
Roy roanbo next year to really have him work for
that moment, and then what a way to try to
(38:19):
take it off the SEF because I already know he's
gonna stay champion for a while. He ain't getting a
hint that's heinow ain't coming off of him.
Speaker 2 (38:26):
No, it's more about like that faction growing and actually
reaching their goal by me at the same time, they
achieved the idea that seeing Punk was able to leave
the company after a decade still climb the mountaintop to
become champion against one of the most dominant athletes in
the sport, and whether whether he gets the title back
(38:46):
soon or not, he still achieved that he still can
claim that he'd beat Kunth, which so many other people
have not. So I think it's a good thing for
Punk to showcase that he can still go with this
younger generation.
Speaker 1 (39:00):
Can And that's why I have to say this would
be one of my favorite performances Bipunk and one of
my favorite matches because he basically, like you just said,
he can go tell toe to toe with these young
ones and it's like he ain't missed the beat either.
For him to get that win, it was cool. But
now it's like they're gonna make him really work to
be champion, right and and and that's fine too, But
(39:22):
like I said, it's either he wins the rumpl he
may win an elimination chamber, you never know. So now
I want to get into night two. So what about
the match between Naomi, excuse me, Naomi versus Ria versus EO.
Speaker 3 (39:37):
Uh, Hugh showing, Hue showing.
Speaker 2 (39:41):
I thought I was curious how they would all play
off each other, which in the last time we got
a triple threat of this magnitude. That was Bianca Blair
in there, not Naomi. But this was a phenomenal match
in Naomi did her thing in this match. And to
think that she was what, uh seven weeks pregnant or
at least at least somewhat pregnant at the time, judging
(40:02):
by her interview recently, taking some of those bumps in
the match, then, uh, phenomenal showing.
Speaker 3 (40:10):
Loved the entrance with their.
Speaker 2 (40:11):
Dad, the the proceed with caution, gimmick is wildly over
and she hung with with Rhea and EO and almost
and in many spots outshine them with her athleticism. It
was a beautiful showing by her.
Speaker 1 (40:26):
Mm hmm. Yeah. She definitely did her thing though. And then,
of course, and I think we predicted this. I think
we predicted it right that Rio was gonna be the
one to take the pen mm hmmm. Yeah. And then
because if we figured EO had already took the pen
when she dropped the tide of to the nay on me,
so it made sense for her to beat Ria the way.
Speaker 2 (40:47):
That she did, and that was bigger the fact that
she pinned Real however we got there the roll up
to get about of it, like she she pinned Rhea,
which same thing I'm gonna say about gun there. It
doesn't happen often. So the fact that your champion in
that iteration was able to do that is huge.
Speaker 1 (41:05):
And to know that she was pregnant at the time
and still did all that, Yeah, yeah, so yeah, that
says a lot there. Oh then did you check out
that interview with her and Big Jim on stephan on
Stephanie Makeman's podcast.
Speaker 2 (41:18):
I checked out the clips, So that's how I know
she was still pregnant during that match, during that time,
and that's why she found out like I think official
officially like shortly after, which is what stopped the match
against EO last week, because.
Speaker 1 (41:33):
I knew something was up when they said she ain't
medically clear, and I put in my mind, okay, I
know her and Jim want to start one to half
kids together, so it made sense. And if you think
about it, Naomi has beaten the best throughout her over
ten year career. You know, she's did her thing. You
think about it. She came into business as a dancer
and a manager. She went from dad to the champion
(41:53):
and now to a future mom. So that says a
lot right there. I will have to say twenty twenty
five was the year for Naomi, but technically late twenty
twenty four was her year because of course she took
out Jade and of course you know she have a
match with j She had one of the greatest promos.
She covered Bianca Belera earlier this year, and then she
(42:16):
go to Evolution. Well then did she become money in
the bank? First go to Evolution and then you become
the champion. Now you get the best New zeal Life.
So yeah, she had a great year though, Yeah, and
I do like but she had a relinqui shut title.
How she snapped off on Adam Pierce. She said, yeah,
these hormones are kicking in, so you need to get
(42:37):
out the ring.
Speaker 3 (42:39):
Well done, like well done.
Speaker 2 (42:43):
One thing I noticed that she's done and balanced, so
well is and you know that she's having so much
fun because she's still smiling and tearing up when people
are giving her flower stuff like that. But she still
turns on her character, and I've seen it at the
she got the money in the bank, where Biggie was
still giving her flowers and she was trying not to
(43:04):
cry in front of them in tyr up. She turned
around in the next breath and told the crowd to
shut up. And she did the same thing in Vegas
at waialle Mania, where everybody was showering her with love
and adoration. She was one of the guest of honors,
and then next thing you know, she's ripping off a
whole profanity laden speech, cussing everybody out, just balancing that
(43:25):
character so well and letting reminder y'all it's like, yes,
I love y'all too, but I don't care right now.
This is where I'm at.
Speaker 1 (43:32):
Yeah, It's like she could flip from now y'all meet
to Trinity at any time.
Speaker 3 (43:36):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (43:37):
Yeah, that's what I like, though. I mean, yeah, like
I said, she played that perceived a caution to a
t though. Yeah, but I am gonna kind of miss
her in the ring though, But I understand it's all
it's for the best for right now, and then she
deserves to be happy.
Speaker 2 (43:51):
Yeah, And if that's like, if it takes whatever amount
of time it takes to come back, I mean, we're
gonna remember that she was at the top of her
aim when she left, like at the very top, like
one of the most marketable, profitable characters. You can imagine
fans showing up with caution tape videos is cheering her
(44:13):
all like this was a big time verse and whenever
she she wanted to come back, she can walk right
into that because we still it's not finished. Like it's
like it's one of the best things she's ever done
and it's not finished. So it's like fans are just
gonna clamor for that even more.
Speaker 1 (44:31):
Is that kind of like how Becky Lynch was when
she found out she was pregnant. It's like she was
at the top of her game, but sure not. She
had to relinquish the title because she had just had
a match with Oscar and then that was when the
next day they said, okay, you beat me, so you
had you the champion now because she said, I'm gonna
enjoy being the mom. So it's kind of similar to
how it was with Becky Lynch with Naomi. It's like they,
(44:53):
like you said, at the top of their careers, and
of course you know that, and of course they're experiencing
mother the hood about the experienced motherhood too, So yeah,
she whenever she comes back, you know, of course we'll
never forget her. We'll know that she had she could
still go. Yeah. So yeah. Other than that, that was
a good match though. And now we talked a little
(45:15):
bit about the TLC ladder match, so I gotta say
that was a good match though, very brutal though, especially
when Candice Loray went through that ladder or maybe she
had went through that table. But it was still a
good match though.
Speaker 2 (45:28):
Yeah, a lot of a lot of crazy spots in that.
They definitely paid tribute to the first TLC match. The
outcome itself, I mean, so so many near grabs, like
so many near grabs are times I legit thought that
the street profits might get it or praxium, Like there's
(45:52):
a legit moment I thought that Ray Phoenix and the
Driver gonna get it, and all these guys took like
such brutal pain. I mean, my favorite moment of the
match might have been when when Shampa was actually hanging
from the belt and somebody think, I fear who's trying
to grab his legs. We lifted his legs up, showed
that core strength and it was literally just hanging from
the middle of the ring like stuff like that you.
Speaker 3 (46:12):
Don't normally see. So they really did a lot of things.
Speaker 2 (46:15):
If you go back and rewatch it, there were so
many things they did that you might have seen for
the first time in a TLC match, which speaks volumes
of everybody's creativity and like how much joy they get out
of doing the tag team wrestling exactly.
Speaker 1 (46:30):
Yeah, but that was a great match though, Like I said,
I did not get I did not take my eyes
off of that match because it's like it was so
entertaining because you got a lot of athleticism in that ring.
You got montez Ford, you had Johnny Gargano, you had
some Masso, then you had Praxium and there all that,
all that athletic talent in that ring. That's what made
(46:51):
that match so so you know, so entertaining to what
to what, you just couldn't even take your eyes off
of it. But you know, even though I was go
on for the street profits to win, but I guess
it just made sense for the White Six to retain,
as I said earlier, because they just got the titles.
But I'm hoping that the Street Profits can go ahead
and regain the titles because at the time I didn't
(47:13):
know it had been when they first won the titles back.
I didn't know it had been over six years they
had been champion, while yeah, yeah, and I just felt
like that's too long, especially for a team like that.
They had solid team, so I just felt like it
should have never taken them six years to get them
titles back on them. And like I said, I'm just
hoping that they do right by them this time around
(47:36):
so where they can become the tag team champions again.
But they don't have to wait that long because I
feel like they deserve them pushes though, but I do
caution now, are they gonna become heels so once they
become the tent the champions again. That's kind of what
I'm trying to figure out because I don't know if
you saw the SmackDown after SummerSlam, but it's like when
(47:56):
I think it was Jackie Redman had asked them a
question about the match and then and then Angelo was like, well,
we didn't get the dub though, and he just said
he hate losing. And you notice that mons Hans didn't
say nothing. He just walked right away, So that would happen.
Speaker 3 (48:10):
Yeah, I don't.
Speaker 2 (48:11):
I don't get that man that. It's like we starting
to start so many things. The Street Profits is like
that was like any any normal person gonna think like, okay,
they teasing the breakup, and then it's like the following week,
I forget who they ran up on last week on SmackDown,
but something happened where it's like, oh, yeah we want
to smoke, YadA YadA, and now be fabies back riding
(48:33):
with him. So it's like we just forgot all about
that thing. We forgot all about it.
Speaker 1 (48:38):
Right, And I thought that was would have been a
good and I think it makes sense to let Chance
be the heel and then maybe he could and maybe
him and Angelo could do something together. But yeah, I
noticed that he just walked away, and I'm like that
would have been perfect to at least get something going.
So they just got to know what direction they want
to take with the Street Profits. But I do say
(48:59):
they do this one more title deserve another title ring
you know as tag Seem champions, and I'm hoping they
could possibly get it as Survivor Series or maybe next
year at the Rumble something to where you know they
can get another shot and it don't take them six
years no more to get another shot. Yeah, so I
would say for the next mess. So we talked about
Becky versus Libral. I gotta say that was one of
(49:21):
my favorite female matches. You know, they really, uh, they
really gave each other a run for the money. You know,
It's like you had Lira, she was taed up at
one point, and it's like you was wondering, Okay, she's
gonna get free or what's gonna happen? You know, But
to see her and Becky go at it the way
that they did it just says that, hey, they could
do anything. So what was your thoughts about that match?
Speaker 2 (49:45):
I thought they did it the right way where Becky
retains what you need because she's very good for the division,
and Becky as a champion in that spot can help
elevate and showcase way more superizars and Lyra can.
Speaker 3 (49:59):
Lyra always have.
Speaker 2 (50:02):
The gravity and delight that she was the first woman's
in her kindo champion, but she wasn't doing anything for
the division except putting on good matches. Becky finally brought
out that fire and that character we needed to see,
and she can hang her head on that. It wasn't
entirely her fault that she lost, you know, but it's
time for her to do something else. And I think
they did it right with introducing Bailey into the match
(50:24):
somehow to kind of help but kind of messing up
at the same time.
Speaker 1 (50:29):
Exactly, Yeah, because she hit a La right dead in
the face and you could see how she wasn't trying
to do it. But that ain't doing nothing but trying
to add more, you know, that ain't doing nothing but
spicing up the storyline for them in the future. But
I am, like we was talking about earlier with Bailey,
I am curious to see what they're gonna do with
her care It's because it's like she's trying to go back,
(50:51):
trying to go back in the past, She's trying to
go back in the present. So it's like we just
got to see and then, like you said in a
predictionous episode, it really gonna make sense for Lyra to
even go after the women's I see title no more.
It's time for her to go for the big for
the big belt now right and then, like I said earlier,
she could be another one that could finally become champion
(51:12):
since the title was vacant right now. Yeah. But other
than that, that was that was hands down a good
match though, especially in the women's division, because it's like,
growing up, I didn't see women fight like that. So
to finally see what the women I get in their
flowers a recognition that says a lot. And that's why
I got to say that was one of my favorite matches. Now,
what would you say about the cage match with Solo
(51:34):
Sokoa and Jacob Battu. Uh?
Speaker 2 (51:37):
We we didn't need this one a pl Yeah, that's
what I think. I mean. I knew Solo was gonna
not no disrespect to like Jacob's previous a runner him
gunning for the title, but I think what everybody wants.
Everybody was waiting to see Jacob jump off the cage,
and he did it. After the match, I feel like
(51:57):
the ending was kind of flat. I'm a big fan
of people walking out of the cage, big fan of that.
I think people need to exit the cage more in
cage matches because it's a legal thing to do. But
we already knew that the MFTs were gonna get involved.
We knew that that Jacob would have some backup in
(52:18):
the form of Jimmy, but it just it meant nothing
when you're out numbered. But at the same time, it
was just weird that at the end of the match,
it's like, oh, yeah, like I'm gonna lock you in
the It was a showcase for Jacob. It's like, hey,
I'm gonna lock you in the cage with this monster.
He's gonna beat both l up and jump off the cage,
but and then dance afterwards.
Speaker 3 (52:40):
It just felt weird, like it felt it felt too
cheesy for me.
Speaker 1 (52:44):
It did. It did everything that we predicted happened, So
we already knew that MFT MTF was gonna interfere, of course,
and then I had a feeling that, of course Solo
was not gonna drop the title. He was gonna beat
Jacob though, But I just wish it would have been
less in a few interest in that match, and that's
why I said they probably shouldn't have made this a
hell in the Sale match. I think that would have
(53:06):
been cool to see at SummerSlam, and you just never know.
I think I think it would have been a better
outcome than what it was.
Speaker 2 (53:12):
Yeah yeah, maybe, like maybe it's trending towards that with
that match. That match didn't do anything for me to
actually care about the rivalry.
Speaker 1 (53:21):
And then it was just water down in my opinion.
But I gotta say, my funded a funny moment that
happened in that match. It was when Jacob looked like
he was about to escape out the door he was.
He told the rep close that goddamn door. I'm on
goddamn gas, That's what he said. Yeah, then then he
started beating up Solo. So I gotta say that was
a funny moment in that match. But other than that,
(53:43):
it wasn't my favorite match though, because it's like I
already knew what was gonna happen, you know, maybe I've
had it been a hell in a Sale match. Maybe
I think different. Yeah, but we'll see though. It's like
they continue in the storyline now, so now you got
to see what direction are they gonna take with them
with Jacob become a two ten I'm champion or was
Solo just continue his reign. We just got to see Now,
(54:04):
what would you say about that match between the Dominika AJ.
Speaker 2 (54:07):
You know what, I thought they did it very well.
AJ Styles works seamlessly with everybody and his chase of
Dom and kind of being out smarted there with something
that AJ didn't plan for and Dom did this by himself.
You know, that was what I took from this match,
that Dom beat AJ Styles alone with just some old
(54:28):
fashioned Eddie Garre trickery with the boot. Now, I do
think it's dumb. And now I'm being honest, like when
I had to suspend my wrestling logic so much, that's like, okay,
so a boot in my hand, it's gonna hurt you
more than like a super kick. It's just gonna knock
you out like that don't compute to me. But maybe
(54:49):
the boot is loaded. But was the bootloaded on his
foot earlier? I don't know, but it was about to
take AJ Styles out temporarily to get the win, and
even AJ congratulated Dom on how smart him next night.
Now we know now that it's not over because last
weekend at Triple A, AJ went all the way to
Mexico to make sure Dom didn't win the Triple A Championship.
Speaker 3 (55:10):
So they'll running back.
Speaker 2 (55:12):
Aj is still hunting for that title, but it's still
did this match added a layer of credibility to Dominic's
title reign.
Speaker 1 (55:21):
Yeah, that's the thing though, I mean I felt like
in the way it did because he was basically dedicating
that match to Eddie Gerillro. You can tell because if
you think about it, twenty years ago, they had that
infamous match him and his dad for the custody of Dominick.
So that's what I felt like. It was all about,
all about a tribute to him, you know, as to
why he won the title, why he retained the title
(55:42):
the way that he did, because if you think about
what Eddie was a w W champion, that was the
way he beat Kurt Angle at russell Mania twenty So
I just think it was more of a dedication match,
and I am in a good way for him to
retain his title because he's still derby Dominick mysterio. So yeah,
so we had seed though, Now what would you say now?
(56:04):
Of course he talked about seeing it versus Cody, So
now do you feel like they're gonna get an sp
Award for that performance?
Speaker 3 (56:12):
You know, they might.
Speaker 2 (56:15):
SP's are always tricky because we got all the way
until next summer. Now it's like I live in California
and I always forget the SP's.
Speaker 3 (56:22):
Are coming around. They didn't really market it this.
Speaker 2 (56:24):
Year like previous years, but it was one of those
matches when you look at the retirement tour, easily the
best match of his retirement tour so far, and even
like when you look at Johnson his twenty three year catalog,
like it's up there, it's easily gonna be in the
top ten. It was such a great match that at
(56:46):
almost fifty years old, John looked like.
Speaker 3 (56:49):
He could still go.
Speaker 2 (56:51):
And I don't know if like earlier this year he
was kind of like mailing it in on purpose because
the heel gimmick and kind of doing those things. This
looked like the John Cena that can power through everything
and put on a great performance through the crowd. The
moment where he used Cody's elevator and holds him up,
like those are things that are going to be embedded
(57:12):
in our brains for years because it's it was such
it was like bone chilling to see, like it was
so cool. I don't like that Cody one. I don't
know what type of story we're trying to tell when
a superstar takes what what was it, eight attitude adjustments something?
Speaker 1 (57:35):
Yeah, like I said that was a ward.
Speaker 2 (57:36):
We saw yeah taking taking that many and kicking out
and still getting over to win. It's like for me,
I don't think Cody tells a compelling story as champion,
and while we're still basically in the middle heading towards
end John's title run, I don't think he needed to
drop that belt until the end. Like if this match
was that, if this was Johnson's last match, great you
(58:00):
you passed the torch to Cody, you put him over,
and you gave us one good final hurrah.
Speaker 3 (58:04):
But like the way they did it.
Speaker 2 (58:07):
Where it's like John has given us his greatest hits
and then Cody can just overcome all this and just
beat John after Crossroads everget how many? But just like
that's lame to me, and I don't think. I don't
think we need a passing of the torch moment this
early into John seen this victory lap?
Speaker 1 (58:27):
Correct? Yeah, I agree? But I believe you had predicted
that Cody was gonna win in a Predictions episode.
Speaker 3 (58:34):
Yeah, I did.
Speaker 2 (58:34):
I did think he was gonna win against against my heart,
I didn't want him to win, but it's like, yeah,
they're gonna be, don't They don't leave me no a
wiggle room to feel like they're gonna do the hard decisions.
And you know, the tough thing to do would be,
let's carry John into the end of the year, like
he said he was gonna do. I'm going to keep
this belt all year and I'm going to go home
(58:54):
with it. And at that point, it's like, well, who's
going to be the hero to step up and take
that belt off me when it's not for me to
go home?
Speaker 3 (59:03):
Or do you just vacate it?
Speaker 2 (59:04):
I think that tells a much better story than Cody
Roads winning again. Like the only thing Cody hasn't been ingranted,
Like the numbers might say something different, the merch might
say something different, but it hasn't been interesting to watch
Cody do anything unless he's chasing the belt. And I'm
talking about he's chasing Roman rings right outside of this,
(59:25):
Like John was championed for what a few months, m
and that's it?
Speaker 1 (59:30):
Come on now, yeah, yeah, And I agree with what
you're saying too. It's like, you know, it's like he
could have Cody could have taken that tie to offer him,
you know, at the end of the year rather than now.
But I kind of understand what they're doing because now
they won't broad last than or Sena to a battle
one more time. But it's like we was really filling
(59:50):
the Cody moment though. So yeah, but like I said,
that was a great match, and I do a mayor
John Seena showing sportsmanship to Cody at the end, that
was that was really nice. And then of course we
know he's the baby face again now, so I got
to say the sportsmanship was nice, and of course the
return of brock Lessner was magical. So now we just
got to see what's what and then how long would
(01:00:13):
Cody holt this title for? Because another thing I was
going to ask shoot to since Sina it is babyface, now,
do you think he might have one more heel run
to him Sena. Yep.
Speaker 3 (01:00:24):
Now it's done. It's done. Weird, we're scrapping all of
that because.
Speaker 2 (01:00:29):
While it was still well received, I think they want
to capitalize off the things that didn't change, Like you
want to give a good taste of fans in their
mouth like that. Whatever fans thought they were getting with
Travis Scott and the Rock and Sina, it's not going
to happen. Like whatever the backstage politics are with Dwayne
(01:00:52):
and WW Creative, whatever happened with Travis Scott falling out
of Favorite WB, they had to pivot off those things.
So we forgot about him and now we're looking at
it like, hey, we only got eleven days left of
john Let's savor every moment. And then one of the
cool things they were doing with Johnson, even despite him
being healed, is like everywhere he goes, he has a
(01:01:13):
new T shirt colorway, So it's like they want to
sell more of those shirts. You're gonna sell more of
those shirts when you have the video backgrounds behind Johnson
and representing each city.
Speaker 3 (01:01:25):
So I think it was a sharp pivot. It could
have been done better.
Speaker 2 (01:01:30):
But like when Johnson gave that promo before Summer Slam,
it sold me. It's like he did the work to
sell me on why he became his old self, and
now we just have to like like I said about
the carry across Sammy's anything, we just got to forget
about it.
Speaker 3 (01:01:46):
He's gotta move forward.
Speaker 1 (01:01:48):
Yeah, But other than that, they put on a great match. So,
like I said way better than this. She is Russell
Manning because I was mad after I saw that. It's like,
what is this? I know he healed, but come on now,
he could have won better. But other than I'm just
glad they got they rematch. It was a success. Now
we just got to see what Cody's gonna do a
champion And another thing I was gonna ask about seeing
(01:02:08):
and now do you see him becoming an eighteen SAM champion?
Because you did say something that was interesting in the
predictionous episode. You said if he dropped the title the
title to Cody, he could possibly try to win the
title again in December to become an eighteen SAM champion.
So do you see that happening.
Speaker 2 (01:02:25):
It's very hard to tell right now, and I would
still love for that to happen because it seems like
the rest of these dates are so confusing because I
don't know what story we're trying to tell with John
now that he's babyface. Is it going to be like
a trip down memory lane, which is kind of what
we were doing, like when we first got Randy right
(01:02:45):
off the back of the hill turn, It's.
Speaker 3 (01:02:47):
Like, I don't know what we're doing.
Speaker 2 (01:02:49):
It would be nice if we saw John become an
eighteen time champ, because if he closed his career out
like that, Like, who's to say John can't be the uh,
the antithesis to the vision.
Speaker 3 (01:03:04):
Who's to say he can't be?
Speaker 2 (01:03:05):
Like you know what, I'm gonna stop Seth Robins and
he goes and a CM punk Roman and Jay, Like
what if he goes and takes that boat off Seth
and vacates it?
Speaker 3 (01:03:19):
Like that would be cool.
Speaker 2 (01:03:20):
I don't trust WW to do anything like that. I
think we're just gonna get straight up matches and like
we know the last match he's gonna do is on
December thirteenth now at Saturday Night main Event, So it's like,
I don't I would love for it to happen. I
think it would be interesting if it can happen, But
I don't trust them. If there's anything about this Sena run,
(01:03:41):
I think Sena is working with the with the creative
and script they gave him. He's being he's being the
company guy like he always has and he's just making
the most out of it. But I think from a
creative standpoint, they haven't always sticked the landing with with this.
Speaker 3 (01:03:59):
Run like it be.
Speaker 2 (01:04:02):
We should be looking fondly back on this, and I
think there's gonna be a lot of sour points within
this heel run and this this victory lap tour for
John Cena.
Speaker 1 (01:04:11):
Yeah, Now do you think they flipped they flipped the
script too soon, meaning that they made him back the
baby face too soon, or do you think they turned
him back babyface the correct way and at the right time.
Speaker 2 (01:04:23):
I'm not mad that he turned baby face at all.
I just think that they I think they were forced to.
I think they were forced to do it abruptly because
we know that we're not getting any type of we're
not getting any interaction with Dwayne Johnson, who was like
this whole thing and this is Cody's fault, by the way,
This this whole thing is like, hey, we want it.
(01:04:44):
I want Cody's soul. Since Bad Blood last year, he
asked for his soul. He says, Hey, I'm gonna be
atn elimination chamber to get your soul. Give me an answer,
he says, no. Johnsena turns hill and probably the most
stunn anything that happens all year. And there's no payoff,
right If there's not going to be a payoff, to it.
Speaker 3 (01:05:06):
You got to get rid of it, That's true.
Speaker 1 (01:05:08):
I was very disappointed about that because I just felt
like The Rock should have been involved in that storyline
a little bit more because he did jump started. And
I don't know if you saw that interview on the
Pack McAfee show when he basically was explained of why
he didn't show up at WrestleMania because a lot of
people was expecting and hoping that he was gonna be there.
He never showed up. Yeah, So that part was kind
(01:05:30):
of disappointed though. And then I do wonder, Okay, it's
the Rock going to show back up now that that
Sena only have eleven dates left. Yeah, yeah, so that's
so that's the only thing I'm cautionnaire also too, Now
do you think Brock less than might be his last opponent?
Speaker 2 (01:05:46):
His last note? I think that's going to speed up
right here after a clash at the Castle because we're
getting Logan Paul for whatever reason, that clashed the Castle
and Brock came back to a tax Sena. We didn't
really get a chance to address it because of Logan
Paul confronting John. I know that they announced some other
(01:06:08):
Brock listener dates being I think the twelfth and the
nineteenth of September, so whatever pl that they're doing, I
think in Indianapolis next month, the rest of Palooza or whatever.
I think that's when you see brock Lesner, because I
think for the final date, which is December thirteenth, I
don't think.
Speaker 3 (01:06:27):
We really know yet. I don't think we know.
Speaker 2 (01:06:30):
I mean, I get that scene of rock Lessner Network
television might do a lot of viewership, but it's also
Johnsen's last match, and I don't think you need brock
Lesner for that. It's gonna sell regardless, So I don't
think they know who his last opponent's going to be.
Speaker 1 (01:06:45):
That's what I was going to ask too, who do
you think his last opponent can be? Because I think
it might be a blast in the past, somebody gonna
come back to try to challenge him.
Speaker 3 (01:06:54):
I have no clue, zero clue. I don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:06:59):
I don't think there's many names out there that just
stick out to me that makes sense for the final one,
because I think I think whoever the final one is,
you're going to scrutinize it either way as a fan,
because like, oh, why couldn't have been this guy?
Speaker 3 (01:07:12):
Why couldn't it have been an up and comer.
Speaker 2 (01:07:14):
So the coolest thing that I've seen, and I wish
I can credit it, but I saw it online was
that John's final match at least that last hour, and
maybe you can do that hour of TV commercial free
on NBC and peacock. Maybe it's a gauntlet. It should
just be a gauntlet match that yeah, yeah, And if
(01:07:37):
you want to do Blash from the Past and do
like little two to three minute matches and a gauntlet,
do that.
Speaker 3 (01:07:42):
But he's at least in a gauntlet.
Speaker 2 (01:07:43):
Match, you're showcasing John one final time, and you can
cram everybody.
Speaker 3 (01:07:48):
In Blash from the past.
Speaker 2 (01:07:50):
You're young and up and coming superstars like your Pintas,
your Joe Hendry's, your Carmelo Hayes. You can showcase those
guys and give them a Johnson a rub on his
way out, and then the final person can be somebody
like that Johnson wants to lose to, you know, or
it can be the Rock. If I said, you can
(01:08:11):
mend things by then and people can get their head
out of their ass and men things by then, it's
the Rock and it's like, Okay, I'm gonna be the
one to put the final nail in the coffin for John,
and it's like you can tell that story and there's
still time. You still have four months to really get
this right. But I don't think if you ask me today,
I don't think there's any one person that should be
(01:08:32):
the final match.
Speaker 1 (01:08:34):
I know it's hard, but I do. Hey, I thought
about the Rock being his final matches. If you think
about it, both matches they had at the Manius in
the past was spot on, and it was basically a
fantasy match because we didn't think we was gonna see that,
kind of like we're him in Hallkogan. We didn't think
we was gonna see the fight at eighteen, but it happened.
But it would be cool to see the Rock and
(01:08:55):
seen to close out.
Speaker 2 (01:08:56):
Well. The thing that scares me about that is like, since
they're one in one, who wins because neither one is
a part of the company going forward, And is it
gonna is it? Is it gonna be a draw? Is
somebody gonna break up the match and like attack both
guys because you know that John's not wrestling again after
that date. He's already said it's a hard no. So
(01:09:17):
it's like, how do you if that were to happen,
You're gonna sell a lot of tickets, You're gonna get
a lot of viewership for like the whole thrice in
a lifetime thing. But it's like, how does one person
go over the other for the rubber match when both
guys are kind of done with their careers.
Speaker 1 (01:09:34):
That's true, Yeah, yeah, you never know, because I mean
last year when the Rock wrestled, he didn't miss a beat.
That dude was still in tip top shape and he
could still go. So it's like, you know, it would
be a good match, but I kind of understand what
you're saying. It's like, who will win if they both
sad and I think that'll be that'd be hard to
kind of determine. But I'm still but and then that
(01:09:56):
was a good idea of the guntlet match. I could
see something like that happening, So we just got to
figure out and see. All right, so now we're gonna
have a little bit of fun. Now we're gonna play
guest the finisher. So I'm gonna name us some finisher
moves and then you just let me know who Superstar
it is. Okay, and it's from different eras too. So
(01:10:17):
what about the Sweet Chien Music Sean Michaels yep, six
one nine D, Mysterio World Strongest Slam.
Speaker 2 (01:10:26):
Mark Henry three D, The Dudley.
Speaker 1 (01:10:30):
Voice, yep, the Stratisfaction True Stratus. Let's see f five
Brock Listener, all right, money shot.
Speaker 3 (01:10:42):
Ooh Venus Yep, there you go.
Speaker 1 (01:10:45):
Okay, four fifty splash four fifty?
Speaker 2 (01:10:50):
Who did a four to fifty as their finisher? Just
a straight up four to fifty and it was it
wasn't called anything special.
Speaker 1 (01:10:58):
Uh, four to fifty splash, that's a they called it.
Speaker 3 (01:11:04):
Yeah, I don't know. I don't know. I'm drawing a
blank there.
Speaker 1 (01:11:06):
Yeah. Paul London, Ah, okay, t Bone suplex.
Speaker 3 (01:11:14):
Ooh that's another one. Yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (01:11:21):
Yeah, Shelton Benjamin really yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:11:26):
I know he had other finishers than that though.
Speaker 1 (01:11:28):
Yeah. No, that was suspinished though. He That's how he
became the IC champion. It's that tee Bone supplex. Yeah.
What about the Twist of Fade Jeff Party Yeah and
who and his brother? Yeah? Uh huh okay, So now
we're moving into this era now, Superman Punch, Okay, what
(01:11:51):
about the Holuva Kick Sam say, okay, the stump, prettiest Moon, Salt, Tiffany,
and then can you name j car Gill's finisher?
Speaker 3 (01:12:08):
Damn, Oh my god, I'm drawing a blank.
Speaker 1 (01:12:11):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (01:12:12):
There's so many like storm one, tandras there. Damn it.
Speaker 2 (01:12:18):
I don't know why my mind is thinking of the
name of Roussev's finisher right now.
Speaker 3 (01:12:22):
And it's not that Uh don't, don't tell me. Uh
is it?
Speaker 2 (01:12:40):
Does?
Speaker 3 (01:12:40):
She still call it jaded?
Speaker 1 (01:12:41):
Yep, that's it, all right, you gotta yeah, I have
to throw that one in there, yeah, Jaded? Alrighty So
is there anything else you want to leave with the listeners?
Speaker 2 (01:12:55):
Yeah, Like I'm I'm about to get back on the
horse and create some more content soon. I know LA
Comic CON's coming up, going to go out there and
get some interviews. Of course, they're on the European tour,
but like you said earlier in the show, we got
Survivor series coming up and then sen San Diego. So
I plan on being out there at all the events,
trying to get interviews from your favorite stars, collab with
other creators out in the space as well. I am
(01:13:18):
going to be trying to boost my TikTok views up
and give you guys more content in the near future.
Of course, I am still with the Women's Wrestling Talk
brand doing WWT Live and all of our after show
contents post shows, and know we got some more coming
up with NXT heat Wave and aw Forbidden Door coming
up this weekend. But yeah, find me in all those spaces.
(01:13:40):
Said is the answer on TikTok as well as Instagram,
said says on Twitter, And yeah, all right, I do
content creation, do interviews, and I'm available for all podcasts
and hosting the opportunities.
Speaker 1 (01:13:53):
All right, Well, thank you so much for coming.
Speaker 3 (01:13:55):
Back to the show anytime.
Speaker 1 (01:13:57):
All right, thank you and take care you too. So
that's gonna do it. For this episode of Wrestling Discussions,
I would like to thank Cedric again for coming through,
and I would like to thank you all again for
your support and please check out my second podcast, Inspiring Discussions,
where I just released a new episode featuring Hollis Rock

who's a hip hop artist from Chicago, Illinois, where he
discussed his new album, his new EP, Legendary that's available
on all streaming platforms, and many more. And also I
released the bonus episode titled The bucket List, where I
