Ashley Janey, and as usual, I want to thank God
for blessing me to do another episode, and I would
(00:51):
like to thank you all for your support and patience.
So I'm sure you all know who why we'll be
talking about today. According to the title, you know, he's
definitely one of the goats of professional wrestling. He's definitely
paved the way for a lot of superstars that we
see today, and of course we all know that his
legacy will forever live on. And I'm going to be
(01:11):
talking about the legendary WWE Hall of Famer Latino Heat
Eddie Guerrero. So please begin me for not being able
to release this episode last month, because when it comes
to putting together a tribute episode, I have to make
sure it's right and that I tell it right. So
I'm basically going to reflect on my favorite moments of
Eddie and how he influenced so many superstars and how
(01:35):
he's going to inspire many future talents. So let's do it.
So I'm sure we all know that Eddie was from
El Paso, Texas and he was the second generation wrestler
who was the son of the legendary Gory Gueriro and
his brothers Mondo Hector and Chappo Senior aka Chapo Classic
well also pro wrestlers as well. And of course Eddie
(01:58):
was the uncle of Chabo Guerriro and they were a
tag team as well in a w w E and
then also his daughter Shaogariro aka Rocky Olds, was also
a professional wrestler, making her a third generation wrestler slash
superstar as well, where she wrestled at FCW and n XT.
(02:18):
But Eddie definitely had a lot of success as a
performer slash superstar, winning multiple titles with Triple A, e
c W, New Japan, WCW, and of course the WWE,
so he definitely accomplished the line in every promotion he
was affiliated with. And we also can't forget those three
amigos he used to do and that incredible fog splash
(02:41):
she would do off the turnbuckle, which won him most
of his titles, or I should say all of his titles,
including a WWE championship. You know. But as a kid,
I definitely remember watching him wrestle every Thursday night on
SmackDown on UPN when I first got deeply involved with
watching the WWE. So when I first started watching SmackDown,
(03:03):
Eddie had just split from Chavo because Chavo had just
betrayed him, and that's when Chavel Senior got involved in
that storyline, which made it cool to see because he
basically betrayed Eddie along with Chavo Junior calls in family
drama in that angle, and Shavel Senior even got back
in the ring temporarily to continue that angle. Then he
(03:24):
would eventually become the WWE Champion, which was a special
moment that I'm going to discuss later on. But I
can definitely talk about Eddie for hours because he did
so much for the business and he was very passionate
and dedicated about his craft. So that's what made Eddie
so special and unique and why his physical presence would
definitely be missed, and every storyline he was involved in,
(03:47):
he always gave it his all and he definitely entertained
people to a team because his my skills were over
the top, which brought out his character while he was
so great at his craft. And also those lows he
used to come out with for all dope and now
I will never forget when Vince McMahon got in the
Low Rider with Eddie and I remember that look on
Ben's face when Eddie made it go up and down,
(04:10):
and I must say that was an epic moment that
I will never forget. So now I want to get
into my favorite memorable Eddie Gueriro moments. So my first
favorite moment was when he was involved in the storyline
with the Late Great Hall of Fame of China, and
this was actually, in my opinion, one of the best
storylines ever because it bought out that fun sat of
(04:31):
both of them, and it also happened during the end
of the Attitude eras, and those two really played their
role to a t because that scene where Eddie had
snapped off on Shina was epic. I thought I was
literally watching the soap opera because he played his part,
and that argument happened because Shina felt that Eddie was
using her to become the IC champion, and he was like,
(04:52):
how could you stand there and talk to me like
this after everything I done for you? And that's when
the whole vibe changed. That's when he went off making
her cry and he was like, look look at me
when I'm talking to you, and he was like, there's
the door and I was like wow, And when I
first saw that, it's like that segment became a masterpiece.
(05:13):
And then he decided he wanted to work it out
with her, begging for her forgiveness the next week on Wrong.
Then my next favorite moment was when he had beef
for John Cena and this was when Sina had the
Doctor a Dugonomics gimmick, So he was a heel at
this point. And we all know that Eddie did not
play about his low riders. So he went backstage to
(05:35):
the parking lot and he approached his car and he
noticed that all four of his tires were missing, and
he started asking different superstars, did any of them see
what happened? So he was like, I can't believe this, essay,
He's killing my car. Ah yah, yeah, Mama Setha. He
was like, he was like, did any of you all
see who did it? And he told Fanaki even if
(05:57):
you got to talk to me in Japanese, essay, just
tell me, and Banoki was like, I don't know. And
the last superstars he asked about it, they started laughing
and Eddie was like, oh, you think this is funny,
You think this is funny, and that's when he knocked
one of them down to the ground and he started
attacking the other guy, and the other superstars got in
to break it in. They was like Eddie, Eddie, Eddie,
(06:19):
come on, Eddie, and he was like, nah, that's my
ride as safe, that's my ride man. So Eddie definitely
did not play about his lowriders. Those were his prize
possessions in wrestling. But of course Sena was the one
that did it, and that's what led to that parking
lot brawl they had on SmackDown. And the next moment
was when Eddie ordered them burritos and Big Show got
(06:40):
ahold of them and got sick. And this all came
about when Big Show had disrespected Eddie and Schoppo Junior because,
as we all know, Show was a heel at this time,
and his character was a bully. So all three of
them had a segment backstage. The Show had made some
mean remarks to them, and that's when he pushed both
of them down to the ground, and that's when Eddie
(07:01):
came up with an idea. So that's when a delivery
driver came in the locker rolled with a burrito order
for Eddie, but Show just happened to be there, so
he took the order and started eating the burritos, and
that's when he opened another one where he licked at it.
Then he spit on it and wrapped it back up
and asked the delivery driver to give it to Eddie
and he was like, okay, Holmes. And later that night,
(07:24):
Show had a match with Orlando Jordan, and you could
tell something was wrong with Show. When he came down
to the ring, you can tell his stomach was hurting.
You could see the pain in his eyes, and when
he did his signature poles in the ring, you could
really tell that something was wrong with him. And even
doing the match, you could tell his stomach was on
(07:46):
one hundred because when Orlando had backed him up in
the corner and started giving him those shoulder thrust in
the stomach. Show was like oh oh, and Michael Cole
was like, what the hell is the matter with the
big show? And that's what show gave Orlando a clothesline,
and after he landed it, he couldn't wrestle no more
because he was bent over, and that's when he got
(08:07):
out of the ring and lost the match to a
count now, and you could tell he needed that toilet
like a heartbeat because the way he was walking to
the backstage area, you could tell he was squeezing his
cheks so he wouldn't do number two all on himself.
So when he finally made it to the backstage and
in the bathroom, all you heard was and that's when
(08:28):
Eddie came in and said, a chie wah wah, ma'am.
The show was like, leave me alone, and Eddie says,
smells like something done crawded. Then you and died, ma'am.
And that's when Eddie admitted he was the reason why
show was on the toilet. And that's when Eddie said, well,
what are you gonna do to wipe your ass? Because
it wasn't no tissue in the stall. The show was like,
no Eddie, no there's no toilet paper in here. Don't
(08:52):
do this to me. And Eddie was like, I'm sorry,
I took the toilet paper about an hour ago, and
that's what Eddie said, but I got something for you
to your ass with. Here it goes and all you
heard was boom, and that's when he kicked down the
stall that show was in and Show stood up and
was like you son of book and he had to
do number two still, and then that's when Eddie walked
(09:12):
out the bathroom with Show holding the stall that was
that was kicked down while he was still on the toilet.
So that scene would forever be epic and the true
classic and still would have have to be one of
my favorite Eddie Guerrero scenes. So the next moment was whening.
He sprayed show with a host that had water from
the sewel in it, and I must say I was
(09:33):
crying laughing when I first saw this, because again Eddie
and Shavel Junior were still having issues with Show. So
of course Show comes down the aisle while Chavo was
in the ring to have a match with him. The
Show was like, I'm dressed up nicely and I smelled good.
So in other words, he wasn't gonna fight Shavl, so
Chavo Trot started talking talking to him to get him
(09:55):
to fight, so Show decided to get in the ring
to face him. So the match ended in the count
out because Chavo never got back in the ring, so
Show won and that's when y'avo waved his hand to
give Eddie a que to come out with the sewer truck.
Then that's when Eddie came out and came out with
it and said, I told you essay, don't mess with me, Holmes,
(10:16):
and then he said, I want you to be my cousin, Chewie,
and then Eddie started explaining what type of truck he
was standing on top of and why there was a
hose attached to the truck. Then he said, I'm going
to get down this truck. I'm going to grab that
special hose and I'm going to cover your ass with
sugar honey ice tea, and I'm sure you all know
what that means. And then Show tried to stop him,
(10:38):
but it was too latee Eddie meant what he said,
and that's when Shoe got out of the ring to
get out the way, and that's when y'all was stretched
one of the cords out that went to the cameras,
and that's when show fell backwards and all I saw
was some brown sandals in the ear, and that's when
Eddie sprayed that sewer water all on him and the
crowd and Michael Cole and the task went crazy and
(11:01):
Eddie sprayed so much on him that show couldn't even
get back on his feet. And what made this situation
so funny was when his theme song came on and
all you heard was, well will it's the Big Show
and he was missing one sandal off his foot and
everyone couldn't help but cover their noses because that's how
bad that sewer water smelled. And then when he finally
(11:23):
got back on his feet, he had the most pitiful
look on his face, like why did this have to
happen to me? So that was definitely a classic Savage
moment from Latino, Heath and Shaveo that was given to
the Big Show. So the next moment was when Kurt
Angle tried to take Eddie's Lowrider, and as I stated earlier,
Eddie did not play about his cars. So it was
(11:45):
a moment on SmackDown when Kurt and Eddie were in
the act of rivalry with one another. So Eddie was
in the ring with all of Kurt's pictures and gold medals,
and he tried to auction off his medals laugh that night,
and Eddie was like, who wants to buy some metal?
Order lay and the crowd went crazy, and then he
said twenty five cent or fifty cent, and that's when
(12:06):
Kurt came out and said, you want to steal some
of my stuff, how about I steal something of yours.
Then Kurt started walking toward Eddie's car and Eddie was like, Hey,
that's my lowrider. Don't touch my lowrider. And then he said, Kurt,
I wouldn't do that, essay, and I wouldn't do that homes,
I'm serious. And then he mentioned something about an antid
(12:27):
device and Kurt said, nice, try Eddie, see you lay
the homes. Then he started up the car and then
that's when some type of whipped cream or some type
of smoke blasted in his face and he finally got
out of the car and Eddie was like, I told you,
you thought I was lying, and the crowd went crazy
with laughter. So that was definitely a classic moment. Then
the next moment was when Summer Slammed two thousand and
(12:49):
four US right around the corner. So the WWE had
created some promos to promote the event where they had
where they would have various superstars cut a promo that
was containing the Summer Olympics of that year. So Eddie
cut a promo where he was running track. So the
video began with him and some other track stars positioning
them themselves on the starting block to listen for the
(13:12):
gunshot and to begin running. So as soon as the
gunshot was heard, that's when the track stars starting blocks
got locked on their feet except for Eddie's and he
started taunting the track stars, acting like he was going
to help them up, and that's when he started running
and dancing at the same time because he knew he
was going to cheat to win. All you heard was
(13:32):
people chatting Eddie, Eddie, Eddie. And what's funny is I
remember that moment like it was yesterday because I was
watching SmackDown when it first aired. And also Summer Snaps
two thousand and four was the first ever wrestling poe
Me and my brother watched because our dad had ordered
it for us. And this is when pay per view
was like fifty four to ninety nine for special events.
(13:55):
Then they would show up on your bill the next
month and you would have to and it will come
on slide and you would have to wait a month
later to buy it on DVD. And that's what I
did as well, and my mom was the one who
bought it for me on DVD the next month, and
I still and I still have it as we speak
right now. To Symble last my first ever po that
I watched. So the next moment was when Eddie destroyed
(14:19):
Teddy Long's car thinking it was kerr Angle's car. So
I remember this moment like it was yesterday. And this
is when Kurt and Eddie was still beefing with one another,
and this happened after SummerSlam. So I remember Eddie coming
out to the ring without his low Rider was and
receiving so much, so much love from the crowd as usual.
So he mentioned that Kurk damaged his car and Eddie
(14:42):
said he still Eddie said he didn't want to wrestle Kirk,
but he wanted to fight him, and he said, let's
stop wasting any time and get your a out here
right now. So that's when Luther rings who was a
WWE superstar at the time that was working with Kerk
came out to the theme song and he told Eddie
to be careful for what he wishes for because he
(15:02):
mentioned that he saw a lot of fights in prison
and the streets. And then he also told Eddie if
Kurt got in the ring with him, he would hurt him.
But Eddie wasn't going and that's when Kurk came on
the screen and told him if he wants to fight,
then meet him in the parking lot. So he got
out of the ring to meet Kurt in the lot,
and that's when Kurr was trying to get away from
(15:23):
him and they ended up near Teddy's car, but Kurt
said it was his car, and that's when Eddie said, oh,
this is your car, and that's when he had dumped
some garbage from a trash can on top of the car.
Then he grabbed a lab pipe and went to work
on that car. He broke all of the windows side
of the car, and that's when Luther had jumped Eddie
and they ran away and drove away from the arena,
(15:44):
and that's when Eddie continued to destroy the car, and
that's when Teddy came out and said Eddie, what do
you think you're doing? And he said, take it easy,
I'm just detailing Kurt Angle's car. And Teddy was like what.
This car does not belonged to Kurt Angle. It belongs
to me. And that's where Eddie couldn't believe it, and
he was about to do more damage to the car
and Teddy was like, stop it, Eddie, stop it. Just
(16:05):
like I said, this car does not belong to krr Angle.
It belongs to me. And that's when Teddy had security
remove him from the arena and he was like, no, no, no,
I didn't mean it. And Teddy was like, my car,
Look at my car? What have they done to my car?
This is a nineteen oh. He just broke down crying
on the roof of the car and it was like,
(16:28):
look at my car. This is my car. The windows
started broken down, everything. This is a nineteen eighty nine classic.
And that's when Kurt and Luther came back to the
arena and Teddy arranged the match between him and Eddie.
So that moment will always be a memorable moment watching
Eddie destroy Teddy's car because he did it with class,
and when he found out it was Teddy's car. The
(16:49):
look on his face said it all and that would
forever be a classic moment for me. Now, the next
moment was when Eddie cut that emotional promo with brock
Lessner leading up to that Tide match. It No Way Out,
And in my opinion, this is one of Eddie's best
promos in the WWE because he was so it was
so authentic and aspiring, which is also another reason why
(17:11):
he would forever be one of the ghosts of all time.
So the promo started with both men in the ring,
and of course brock was a heel, so he was
sending a lot of mean things to Eddie, like calling
him an attic, and he said, come this Sunday and
no Way Out. You will not be fighting the odds.
You will be fighting me, brock Lessener, and he said,
I hope you are addicted to losing. And that's when
(17:32):
Eddie nailed the promo by mentioning his past and how
he overcame addiction. And he also mentioned how he had
to come up with a decision and he said he
did it because it was a do of that situation,
and he said, I'm still here right now, day by
day by the grace of God, and he said he
had to earn his way back to the ring he
earned the respect of his kids again, and he also
(17:54):
mentioned how to tie up would be his way of
apologizing to his family and providing a better way of
life for his kids. And he basically concluded the promo
by saying he was going to be Brock for that title,
and sure enough, on that Sunday and no way out,
he defeated Brock for that title. And still to this day,
that will always remain a very emotional Eddie Gerillro moment
(18:15):
because that was his first WWE title whim and that
happened a year before he had passed, So that will
always remain a huge sentimental moment in WWE history because
you had someone who overcame so much, overcame the eyes
and still became the champion at the end of the day.
So that moment will always remain a huge, a very
huge sentimental moment in the business because he defeated the
(18:38):
eyes that were stacked against him. It still came out
victorious in front of his family, peers, and fans, and
I'm just glad he was able to experience that moment
and added to his resume of professional wrestling, because that
was definitely a magical moment for him because it was
well deserved and it goes to show you that hard
work pays off and never let no one tell you
(18:58):
what you can't do. So definitely that was a special moment.
And another moment was when he went against Kurt for
the title at wrussell Mania twenty, which was a very
great match with a funny ending to the match because
he definitely had that ankle lock in place and it
didn't look like he was gonna let go, So that's
when Eddie got out of the lock by flipping him
(19:19):
over and sausting him out of the ring, and that's
when Eddie started to untie his boot to make it
look like he suffered damage to his ankle, and that's
when Kurt got back in the ring and put the
lock on him again, and this time Eddie's boot came
off unexpectedly and he rolled him up in a small
package and got the one, two three and won the match,
and Kerk got so mad that he threw his boot
(19:40):
at him and started crying in the corner of the ring,
and that had to be the funniest outcome to a
title matching history, because Eddie still got the job done
his way and still came out victorious. And the next
moment I want to discuss this when he turned on
Ray mystereo and a month prior to this situation, he
had lost to Rape at Wreussell Maniasuni and this was
(20:01):
when Eddie had trouble beating Ray. So at this time
I believe they had just lost the tag team titles
and Ray had a match on SmackDown. Eddie was supposed
to come out, was supposed to come to his aid,
but instead he ended up giving Ray to business. And
I remember, like yesterday, watching this at home and being
so upset with Eddie because at the time I had
(20:21):
never seen Ray getting beat up this badly. So he
gave Ray a clothes line. Then he then he started
stumping and kicking him. Then he tossed him out the
ring and ran his face into the pole that split
that split him open, and that's when he ripped his
mask and tossed him in the ring, and then Eddie said,
you want to fight, you want to fight, Essay, I'm
(20:41):
right here at homes. That's when Eddie got out of
the ring to set up those steel steps so he
could finish the job of Ray. So he pulled him
out of the ring and he suplexed him on top
of the steps, and I just remember being in shock
and disbelief watching that live as a kid, because I
didn't think that Eddie would turn on Ray. But that
was forever be one of the most shocking heel turns
(21:02):
in WWE history because it was unexpected. And one thing
about Eddie was he can he can be a great
babyface that he could also be a great heel So
he definitely did his thing with that heel tern and
that's what eventually led up to their historic infamous storyline
that involved the Dominick Mystereo, which is the next moment
I'm going to discuss right now, And I'm must say
(21:24):
this angle will forever be one of my favorite storylines
of all time because one I remember watching this unfold
at my grandmother's house while I was on summer break
from school. Number two, everyone played their parts to a
t and number three, this was Eddie's last major storyline
where he did an amazing job connected with the fans
(21:45):
when telling them bedtime stories, you know, in this angle
and of course, he entertained the heck out of everyone
because even I was confused as a twelve year old
kid wondering, okay, well, who is Dominic's dad? Even my
mom was like, well he looked like the men in
the mask, so what they talking about? So long story short,
around the summer of two thousand and five, there was
(22:07):
a lot of dysfunction and confusion with Eddie and Ray.
So of course in the storyline, Eddie had trouble beating
the Ray in the one oh one match, and you
could tell after Wrestle Many in twenty one when they
challenged each other and Ray got the win. You know,
Eddie was obviously upset about not getting the job done.
So eventually that led to a lot of tension and
frustration from Eddie. And even even though they had won
(22:32):
the tag team titles, it was still a missing puzzle
piece and that was for Eddie to get a victory
over Ray. So, of course, as I mentioned in the
last segment, Eddie did a He'll turn on Ray. So
that's when the ankle really got deep when Dominic got
involved in the storyline. So that's where Eddie came to
Dom's daycare center to talk to him and give him candy,
(22:52):
and that was basically Eddie's way of playing nine Games
of Ray. But in the storyline, you could tell that
Dom and Eddie had a genuine connection with you because
Eddie asked him do you love me? And Dom was
like yeah, Uncle Eddie, and Eddie was like, I love you,
and Dom said I love you too, Uncle Eddie. And
in that moment, I could tell they had a strong
connection and that this is going to be a great storyline.
(23:14):
And while Don was hugging Eddie, that expression that Eddie
made was priceless because in that moment, because he made
that moment at sense and he had everyone wondering what
was going to happen next. Then the following week, Gonna
Smack Down Ray refronts Eddie to leave his family out
of the situation that Eddie also threatened to tell Dom
the secret, but Raights told him don't do it. Then
(23:37):
the following week, Vicki and their daughters, including Shaw, came
out to me Eddie at ringside to try to stop
him from revealing the secret. Then when he was escorting
his family back to the car, it really got a
tense because he was raising his voice, causing the scene.
Then that's where hardcore Holly tried to step in and
diffuse the situation, and that's where Eddie pushed him and said,
(23:58):
you man your own business, and that's when Holly pushed
him back into the car and then he had put
a huge dent in the door, and that's when he
apologized to his girls and told Vicky to just go
before I get hurt, and then he said get the
hell out. So that was definitely a classical moment. And
then Ray and Eddie had that match at the Great
(24:20):
American Bachelor. Don was at ringside and where Eddie threatened
to tell Don the secret, but since Ray had won
to match, the secret was not supposed to be revealed,
but of course Eddie lied and told Don the secret
anyway on SmackDown following the pole while Ray was trying
to stop him. And we already know what the secret was,
and it was basically Eddie was Don's real father, and
(24:42):
of course Don played his part when he said his
infamous loud which was is it true, Dad? Is it
really true? That was pretty much that the turning point
of the angle, because eventually Dom would go to Foster
Care into SummerSlam since Eddie and Ray were fighting for
the custody of him and the latter match, and I'm
gonna say that was one of the best ladder matches
(25:03):
of all time because both men u the last their
high flying abilities. They knew each other like a book.
And even Dom made his ladder match debut by shaking
the ladder while Eddie was up there. He was like,
what are you doing shaking the ladder like that? Don't
you know? I could have fallen? And he was like,
give me a hug. Don't you love me? You're gonna
(25:23):
love me. You know why? It's because I'm your new
daddy now, essay and it Doam was not going and
then that's where Eddie tried to hit him, and next
thing you know, Ray came out of nowhere and saw
Eddie up for trying to hit him, and so it's
the end of the match. Vicky comes out to stop
Eddie but help Ray at the same time to become
victorious in the match. And you should have seen a
(25:44):
look on Dom's face when Ray got that briefcase. He
was so happy that he got in the ring to
celebrate with him, you know. But overall, that was an
incredible storyline. And performance by both men, and of course
Dom who was twenty years away from being dirty, dumb
and Nickola Stie put on a great performance as well,
and look at where he's at today, so you could
(26:05):
see he definitely took a lot of notes from Eddie
and Rape and that he studied Eddie a lot to
become the heel that he is today. And the next
moment I want to discuss is where Eddie finally beat
Ray in the steel cage match on SmackDown, And of
course this was their last match ever, but I'm just
glad that he was finally able to get that whim
and he was able to fulfill that missing peace to
(26:27):
the puzzle. But it was definitely a great match as
usual because they had so much chemistry in the ring.
But towards the end of the match, Eddie had an
opportunity to beat Ray by walking out of the cage,
but before he can escape, he stopped and looked back
at him and decided to not escape but instead give
him the frog splash and pin him one, two or
(26:47):
three to get the win. So at least he did
beat him and he was able to check that moment
off his bucket list. So the last moment I would
like to discuss is when he became a babyface one
more time and when he started working with Batista. And
this was when Batista was on top of the SmackDown
brand because he had won the Rumble earlier that year
(27:09):
split from Evolution. He challenged Triplation to win the Road
heavyweight title at Maynia that year, and then he eventually
got traded to SmackDown. So five was definitely a great
year for Batista as far as success wise, and of
course he had got a chance to work with the
Latino Heat. But my favorite memorable MAMA was when Eddie
had ordered some food backstage and that's when Batista came
(27:31):
towards his way while he was eating, and Eddie was like, hey,
Dave was up homes and that's when they started talking
about a previous match that took place a week prior,
and Dave was like, fool, looks good. You sure you
should be eating this? And Eddie was like why not?
And he said and he was like I don't think so, man,
you had that stomach thing last week. He said, let
(27:52):
me take this, I eat this. Eddie was like what
because he wanted the fool and then he was about
to only eat the tortillas, and then Dave came back
and said, oh, that's what I'm missing and see you
in the ring, and Eddie had that look on his
face like, no, he didn't just take my food away
from me. Then they would eventually have a match with
each other for the World Heavyweight title and No Mercy,
(28:14):
which would have been Eddie's last poe ever. And even
though Dave retained the title, it was still a great
match because I did hear, you know years later that
eventually Eddie would have defeated Dave for the title, and
I heard the day of his past, so it was
the day he was supposed to be victorious and be
a two time champion, And of course before he transitioned,
(28:35):
he had already originally had a spot of Team SmackDown
for Survivor series of that year, and I also heard
he was supposed to be involved in a storyline slash
rivalry with Sean Michaels, which by the way, would have
been epic because you would have had two legends over
twenty years of experience at the time going at it
by just putting on the classic show. And of course
(28:58):
Sean and Eddie were my favorite superstars at the time
and still are my favorites to this day, So it
definitely would have been cool to see this moment happen,
and I do believe they would have gone at it
for the World Heavyweight title, possibly at Wrestler Ania in
twenty two, and I believe Eddie would have pertained before
dropping it to Shane at a future event. So they
were definitely a lot of great ideas and the works
(29:20):
for Eddie. But I'm just very thankful that he was
still able to accomplish a lot in his career, you know,
especially why being in the business, because everything he did
in the company was a huge success, and of course
he gave it his all at one hundred percent, and
that's what made him unique and that's what made him
Latino heat. He definitely has such a strong impact in
(29:41):
the wrestling world and the reason why everyone took the
news so hard because he was deeply cherished by everyone
that knew him very well, and it seemed like we
all knew him personally because he was so relatable. So
hands down, he did a lot in his career where
he had so much success. But I was definitely excited
when he made it into the Hall of Fame the
following year in my home sound of Chicago, and I
(30:04):
must say it was definitely a well deserved moment. It's
just a huge celebration of his life, career in legacy,
and you could tell by watching the event that he
definitely had a large family and a large fan base,
because I believe the event has sold out rapidly because
everyone wanted to be there for that event. So just
imagine how pack the rose Mon Theater was that night.
(30:27):
And when they honored Eddie the next night at Wresselmania
twenty two at the All State Arena, just imagine how
loud and pack it was at that arena. And it
just goes to show you how popular and loved he
was as a superstar. And now it's a Hall of Famer.
But as I stated early in this episode, his legacy
will always live on because he definitely influenced a lot
(30:48):
of the superstars that we see today in the WWE
or all the wrestling promotions, Like he definitely affluenced Sasha Banks,
who we now know today is Mercedes Money. I could
tell she was deeper influenced by him because her WrestleMania
thirty two gear was inspired by him, and whoever created
the gear did a phenomenal job with it because her
(31:08):
wrestling types looked just like the tights he used to wear.
And those boots she wore was the icing on the
cake because they were very identical to the boots he
used to wear. So, hands down, that will always be
my favorite costume that she wore a WrestleMania. And I
even watched a lot of interviews when she was asked
who was her favorite wrestler or who inspired her to
(31:28):
become a superstar, she will always say Eddie Guerrero, So
she was so she was most definitely a huge fan,
and there were times when I would see her give
her opponents the Three Amigos and the frog splash. I
saw Bailey was aspired by him as well, and of
course the next superstar he inspired with it was of
course Dominique Mysterio or I should say Dirty Dominique Mysterio.
(31:52):
You know, as I stated earlier, domin Eddie definitely had
a strong connection with one another, and that's another reason
of why that storyline such a huge success, because besides
looking up Say, I could tell he was influenced by
Eddie as well. Because currently dom is rocking the mullet
slash mustache look, and of course that was the same
look that Eddie used to rock in his w c
(32:14):
W days in his early WWE years, So I believe
he's rocking that look to pay homage to him, because
I ain't gonna lie. He does look very similar to
him with that look, and he also does the three
amigos and the frog splash, so we could all tell
he was deeply influenced by him. And of course he
squeezes in the sixty one nine as his signature moved too.
(32:35):
And he also uses Eddie's sheeting tactics because in that
match that Dom had with EDJ Styles at SummerSlam where
he on zipped his boot and that's when AJ removed
the boot unexpectedly, causing him to lose the match to
Dom for the IC title. And J was also inspired
by Eddie that he even wore some gear that was
(32:56):
just like Eddie's gear at SummerSlam. Then he and his
son came out with a low Rider that same night.
So as you are could see, there are so many
superstars that were influenced by his craft, and there is
still to this day mention of his name in the company,
so his legacy will forever live on, and also superstars
like Raymonstereo, montez Ford, Kevin Owens except Roylins will also
(33:21):
aspired by him because they also do frog splashes too. Now.
Also Ray paid Thomas to him at WrestleMania thirty nine
when he was going against Damned and he came out
to his theme song and a Lowrider, and it was
definitely a beautiful moment to hear his theme song again
after eighteen years, because it bought back a lot of memories.
And the last time his song was played that WrestleMania
(33:43):
it was that WrestleMania twenty one and that was back
in two thousand and five, and that just goes to
show us that still to this day, his legacy will
forever live on and we will always hear his name
mentioned in the company. But overall, he definitely aspired so
many current talents and I do see where he has
inspired the future talents that we see today, especially on NXTO,
(34:07):
because there are a lot of high Flyers SAT Slash
superstars that were from nxt who are now on the
main roster that were inspired by him, like Raquel Rodriguez,
Dragon Lee, Carmelo, Hayes, Angel Garza, Javon Evans, Rock San Perez,
and many more. So he's definitely a pact at the
future of the business and I believe he will always
(34:29):
continue to make that impact for years to come. But overall,
Eddie would definitely be missed in the wrestling business, and
of course he will always be missed by his family
and fans, and of course I definitely would miss his
presence as well. And it was definitely a huge honor
putting this episode together to celebrate his life, career and legacy.
And I'm not gonna lie, but the WWE was never
(34:51):
the same again after his passing, you know, even though
there were different talents holding it down, but it still
wasn't the same because obviously the bes and this was
missing that one person that was very passionate, very talented
and entertaining. But the company still held it together and
was able to promote other talents. But I'm just very
(35:12):
thankful for YouTube so I could go back and watch
some of my favorite moments with him. And I'm also
very thankful for the Peacock and the ESPN apps so
I could watch some of my favorite moments with him.
To go back down memory lane and just to feel
like a kid again watching those moments, because he had
a lot of great matches and he was definitely a
great performer who knew how to hype the crowd up
(35:35):
and give them the best show possible. And again, that's
what made him unique, and that's what made him stand
out because its natural abilities were the performer entertained. So
rest in peace to Latino heat Ati Guerrero. So that's
going to do it for this episode of Wrestling Discussions.
I hope you all enjoyed it, and I hope I
(35:56):
was able to bring you all back down memory lane
discussing those wonderful moments. And also I did feature Eddie
and my mini series title if they Didn't Lead So Soon,
where I discussed the various legends slash Hall of Famous
that passed away very soon, and I just basically discussed
their careers and where I think they would have been
in their careers and lives if they didn't pass away
(36:17):
so soon. So he is featured in one of the episodes,
which is part four of the series, and I will
leave that info in the description box. And also I
will be releasing two more episodes of Wrestling Discussions very
soon because the season finale is approaching and after I
released the final two episodes, now will be taking a
(36:39):
break from podcasting so I could focus on other personal
goals I would like to achieve. But however, I know
that the Royal Rambo was right around the corner that
would take place on January thirty first, twenty twenty six,
and reade Saudi Here Arabia that we will be streaming
on the ESPN app in the US and internationally on Netflix,
(36:59):
so I'm definitely looking forward to it. But the good
news is I will be releasing a bonus episode DISCUSSI
from my predictions on who will win the Men's and
Women's Rumble, and I will do a brief bonus episode
about the results of the event. And while taking the
break of preparing for season two, I will release bonus
episodes about Elimination Chamber, wrestle Mania and SummerSlam. And of
(37:22):
course I will be making an announcement on when Season
two of Wrestling Discussions will return on all streaming platforms
and if anyone is interested, I still have merch on
my website and I will leave that info in the
box as well, and also check you could check out
my other podcast, Inspiring Discussions, where I just released a
(37:42):
new episode titled The Best of Rights where I sit
down with Ritis who's a podcaster and music artists to
discuss his new album that dropped today streaming on all
music platforms. And I will also leave that episode in
the box as well so you can check it out,
and you walk a check out my YouTube channel as
well and I will provide that info. So thank you
(38:04):
all so much for tuning in, Stay safe, happy holidays,
and God bless you all.
