Before there was Slenderman, there was Cropsey. A terrifying urban legend that haunted Staten Island in the 80s. Cropsey was said to be a deranged killer who preyed on children near the abandoned Willowbrook State School, a former institution for the developmentally disabled that was exposed for its horrific conditions and abuse. The legend became reality when Andre Rand, a former employee of Willowbrook, was arrested and convicted for kidnapping and murdering several children.
