Dr. Sara Petras is a veterinarian who has spent extensive time abroad in Hungary. In this episode, Dr. Petras shows up with her new baby in one hand and a bottle of Hungarian brandy in the other to celebrate her last day of maternity leave. Peer pressured, Bethany and Chris find themselves doing shots at the start of the interview. Chris is promptly drunk and Bethany tries to remember her train of thought for the rest of the interview. Dr. Petras and Bethany discuss their grade school days together and recall the shared memory of a children’s-birthday-piñata-turned-medical-emergency. We learn about Hungarian culture and Dr. Petras’s experiences studying veterinary medicine in Budapest–and finding international love. Finally, Chris tries to finagle a discount on veterinary care, and Dr. Petras shares some of the good, the bad, and the strange of life as a veterinarian.

Intentionally Disturbing
Join me on this podcast as I navigate the murky waters of human behavior, current events, and personal anecdotes through in-depth interviews with incredible people—all served with a generous helping of sarcasm and satire. After years as a forensic and clinical psychologist, I offer a unique interview style and a low tolerance for bullshit, quickly steering conversations toward depth and darkness. I honor the seriousness while also appreciating wit. I’m your guide through the twisted labyrinth of the human psyche, armed with dark humor and biting wit.
