This week, Christine DeHerrera kept hearing the same themes showing up again and again—in client calls, conversations with colleagues and friends, and even her own reflections. In this episode, she goes behind the scenes of three of those powerful conversations, each offering an invitation to trust yourself more deeply, align your business with your values, and reclaim your energy.

Listeners will hear why a seasoned consultant found herself avoiding invoicing—and what that revealed beneath the surface. Christine shares the story of a wildly successful entrepreneur who realized she’d been outsourcing her wisdom to online experts and how she took her power back. And she explores what it really means to double down on your values—and align every decision, offer, and action with the frequency you want to hold.

If you’re ready to clear out the energy drains, the “shoulds,” and the invisible resistance keeping you stuck, download Christine’s free Business Detox Playbook. It’s designed to meet you where you are, whether you’re letting go of busywork or ready to go deep and name what’s really going on. Get it here.

Christine DeHerrera (00:04):
Welcome to you Are the Magic.
You know those weeks where itfeels like every single
conversation is trying to tellyou something.
This was one of those weeks forme, and I just love it.
It's how I know I'm on theright track.
In my life and work, I kepthearing the same themes showing
up in different ways through myclients, my colleagues and even

(00:26):
friends.
Underneath each story, eachstruggle, each breakthrough,
there was a pattern, a patternabout change and clarity and
power.
So in today's episode, I wantto take you inside three of
these conversations, each onerevealing something I think we
all need to hear right now.
We'll talk about why a seasonedconsultant working with

(00:49):
household names found herselfavoiding invoicing and what that
really means.
We'll talk about why a wildlysuccessful entrepreneur realized
she'd been outsourcing herpower to the experts and how she
took it back.
And we'll talk about what itmeans to double down on your
values and choose the frequencyyou want to hold.

(01:09):
These aren't just randomstories.
They're clues, invitations, amirror for your own business,
your own decisions, your ownpower, Because maybe what's
feeling hard isn't really theproblem.
Maybe what's draining you isn'twhat you think it is, and maybe
this was a big, important maybe, Maybe, the answers aren't

(01:35):
outside you.
They're already here waitingfor you to see them.
Let's dive in.
One of the most interestingconversations I had this week
came from someone using my newbusiness detox playbook, which
was really cool.
In step one of the playbook, you're asked to identify a task
or commitment you dread but thatyou keep doing anyway.

(01:57):
I mean, who hasn't done that?
So this incredible high levelconsultant who's making really
cool changes inside her clients'businesses and who has worked
with household names and bigtech firms so someone that
really knows what she's doingshe named invoicing as the task
she dreaded most in the playbook.

(02:18):
Now here's what's fascinatingto me.
The question in the playbook isdesigned to unearth the tasks
that are draining your energybut that aren't actually moving
the needle in your business.
In this case, though, invoicingabsolutely moves the needle.
In fact, it's oxygen for yourbusiness.
The resulting revenue is whatkeeps the doors open.

(02:41):
So for her to name invoicing asthe task she dreaded, it just
showed how powerful this toolcould be, which was really
exciting to me.
The playbook didn't justidentify a busy work task she
could let go of.
It surfaced a critical area ofresistance, something that was
asking for attention on a deeperlevel.

(03:01):
She wondered if she had a moneymindset issue, a scarcity issue
, and wondered if she had amoney mindset issue, a scarcity
issue, and I totally get that.
It's so common for highachievers, for over functioners,
for those of us trying to doeverything right, to immediately
wonder what's wrong with methat's making all of this feel
so hard.
Fortunately, we were able totalk about it and I quickly

(03:23):
discovered it wasn't that shelacked a system to automate the
invoicing or that she didn'thave somebody she could delegate
that task to.
The real issue wasn'tlogistical, it was a clarity
issue.
Because here's the thing wheninvoicing feels heavy or like it
can't be automated, it's notusually about the task itself.

(03:47):
It's a sign that thetransformation that you're
selling hasn't been fullyarticulated to yourself.
And that's not a personalfailing at all.
That's a messaging issue, andmessaging can be fixed.
So let me give you an example.
If you're billing for consultingor coaching, you need to be
crystal clear on thetransformation.

(04:09):
Your client is paying for theresult.
For example, in my one-on-oneprogram the subtraction strategy
my clients don't just get alist of things to stop doing.
They get a prioritized, personalized action plan
designed to deliver the specificresult they're looking for,
whether that's more revenue ormore hours back in their day or

(04:31):
up leveling their ideal client.
So when the transformation isclear, the invoice feels clear
too.
The exchange of money makessense.
It's like buying a Pepsi threebucks or a branded sweatshirt
200 bucks.
The transformation or theresult is already baked into the
price.

(04:51):
But when you haven't fully namedthe transformation to yourself,
even if your client is thrilled, the invoicing process can feel
personal, emotional wobbly.
And that's a clue, not acharacter flaw.
Here's why this happens.
For those of us who areover-functioners good girls,

(05:13):
perfectionists we've madeover-delivering a way of life.
We always see where we couldhave done more, where we could
have been even better, andbecause we can always imagine
that extra thing we could havegiven, we can feel weird
charging for what we alreadyhave delivered.
It's not that you don't believeyou're good at what you do.
It's not that you doubt yourproduct or your service.
It's that your brain hasn'tpaused long enough to name the

(05:36):
incredible transformation you'realready providing.
Once you name it, thatenergetic wobble disappears
Sometimes.
It's not that we're makingthings harder than they need to
be.
It's that we're misdiagnosingthe real problem.
We tell ourselves.
I have a money mindset issue, Imust have some scarcity blocks

(05:56):
around invoicing, but really theissue might be something much
more practical and solvable.
I haven't fully articulated thetransformation my client
receives, and that's truewhether you're selling a service
or a product.
So once you name thetransformation, clearly the
exchange of money feels cleartoo.
So I'll ask you this is theresomething in your business

(06:20):
you're avoiding?
Not because it's truly hard, but because maybe you've
misunderstood what's actuallygoing on.
If you want to explore this foryourself, the Business Detox
Playbook is a great place tostart.
It's designed to meet you whereyou are, whether you need to
clear out busy work and shouldsor you're ready to go deep, like

(06:42):
this woman did.
It will help you uncoverexactly what's draining your
energy and keeping you stuck.
I've linked it for you in theshow notes and, speaking of
clarity, this brings me toanother powerful conversation I
had this week.
I was talking with a brilliant,accomplished entrepreneur.
She's built multiple businesses, all successful, and now she's

(07:04):
stepping into something new, launching a business in the
online space.
And, like so many of us do whenwe're in unfamiliar territory,
she started listening to all theexperts.
She bought the courses, followed the online gurus tried
to learn all the things and Ican totally relate to that and
in the process, she startedoutsourcing her own wisdom to

(07:26):
these online professionals.
Now, don't get me wrong.
She learned a lot.
She picked up strategies aboutbusiness models, messaging,
using social media to generateleads, blah, blah, blah, blah,
blah.
No doubt really, really good, but she spent way more time on
it than she really needed to.
One day it hit her and shefinally got clear.

(07:49):
She knew exactly what her newproduct was going to be.
She knew who the ideal clientwas, she knew the problem she
was solving and thetransformation she was giving
them, and in that moment, shemade a very bold decision she
decided to build the product.
Now, if you've been in theonline space for a while or the

(08:11):
tech space, you've probablyheard plenty of experts say
don't build the product, validate it, sell it before you
make it.
But this time she didn't listento the experts, she listened to
herself.
She started building theproduct, she iterated, she made
sure it worked properly, shereally put the time and effort

(08:33):
in and she started a wait list.
So when she finally dropped thelink to the product, believe it
or not, every single person onthat wait list, bought it.
Later she told me I couldn'thave sold it if it didn't exist,
and for her that was true.
But here's what I've learned wealready know so much more than
we give ourselves credit for.

(08:54):
Yes, expert guidance canabsolutely shorten the path if
you're learning from someonewho's a great fit for you.
But even then, their wisdomneeds to filter through you,
your values, your vision, yourway of doing things, your
intuition, Because nobody knowswhat's right for you better than

(09:14):
you.
So if you've been waiting forsomebody else to tell you you're
ready, let this be it.
You're ready.
Stop outsourcing that power andinstead double down on your
values.
Which brings me to anotherincredible conversation I had
this week.
Really, truly, this was quite aweek.
So I was talking to yet anotheramazing woman, an incredible

(09:39):
businesswoman, a coach, anauthor, a speaker, a general
baddie.
But lately she told me she'dbeen feeling a little bit off, a
little bit stuck.
She told me she was strugglingto complete business tasks that
are normally some of herfavorite parts of the week, and
she wasn't sure why.
Well, of course, I had a fewideas, because I'm the outside

(09:59):
observer.
We are in an incredible time influx in history.
There's truly not an area ofour lives that isn't being
changed, whether that's pricinghumanity or lack thereof,
corporations, government, how wedo day-to-day tasks Everything
feels like it's getting turnedupside down.

(10:19):
So it should be no surprisethat she, or any of us, was
feeling this way, feeling duck, for lack of a better term.
So we started digging into thishow, in times like this, doing
things the way we've always donethem just doesn't feel right
anymore, and it's not just okaybut actually necessary to stop

(10:40):
and ask should I still be doingthis, how should I be doing this
?
And, most important of all, doI want to be doing this Right
now?
In my opinion, everything is upfor reassessment from your
business model to your leadgeneration, to how many hours
you work, who you work with, howyou work in every sense of the
word, all of it.

(11:00):
And while this, of course, feels scary, there's a gentle
process that can make all ofthis questioning and assessment
not only more effective, butactually fun and reassuring and
giving you a sense of safety.
I think this process is soimportant that it's one of the
first things I do with all myclients, and that is really kind

(11:24):
of simple, but we identifytheir values.
Some people come to me withtheir values clearly identified.
Some don't.
Some come to me with valuesthat completely change, Because
values aren't just words on awall.
Values are the fundamentalbeliefs that guide every
decision and action in your lifeand business.

(11:45):
So if you're not running theactivities that you're doing
through your values, then likelythere are many little ways that
you're out of alignment withyourself, even if you are
reaching all of your goals.
And if you're not hitting themark.
Being at cross purposes withyour values is often the culprit
, and what's great about that isyou can change it.

(12:07):
And let me give you one morelittle surprise about values.
They change over time.
They evolve as you evolve andwith everything that's happening
right now, of course, yourvalues are changing.
So in my conversation with thisbaddie who was feeling off, she
realized she wasn't quitetaking action from her values.
And this is when things gotspicy, Because it's not just the

(12:30):
value itself, it's thefrequency of the value, the
energy behind the words.
Take joy or happiness or delight.
They all mean similar things, but they don't carry the same
energy.
They're different frequencies.
See what I mean.
So once you choose a value, youare choosing the frequency you

(12:51):
want to hold as you go throughyour day.
So let's take joy as one ofyour core values.
You filter everything, and Imean everything your offers,
your marketing, your schedule, your collaborations, your social
media everything gets filteredthrough the frequency of joy.

(13:11):
Or let's say, hustle is one ofyour values.
Then you filter everythingthrough the lens of hustle.
Although, spoiler, I feel likehustle is going to be getting a
facelift for people.
Now you might be thinking okay, come on, nobody can be in joy
all the time.
Or hustle all the time.
Maybe, maybe not.

(13:33):
But when you know that sendingan email to your list three
times a week feels like theopposite of joy, that's a clue,
that's the signal it's time toadjust.
And that's what I want you totake away from this conversation
.
Your values.
They're not just concepts,they're a frequency, a guide, a

(13:53):
filter, a compass.
When you double down on them, everything starts to evolve to
where you are right now no morefeeling stuck.
So those were just three of theconversations I had this week.
When I first put this episodetogether, I naively thought I
was going to give you sixconversations and that would

(14:15):
have been way too much.
So I'll save those for anotherepisode, but what a powerful
week.
Here's what I want you toremember You're not stuck,
You're not behind, You're notmissing some secret key, You're
not wrong.
You know so much more than yougive yourself credit for.
And when you double down onyour values, when you filter

(14:37):
your decisions, your offers, your schedule, your marketing
through the frequency youactually down on your values.
When you filter your decisions, your offers, your schedule,
your marketing, through thefrequency you actually want to
live in, you can't help butbuild something true, something
lasting, something fully aligned.
That's the work, that's themagic and that's the invitation.
So if you want to startuncovering what's draining your

(14:57):
energy or what's been keepingyou stuck, my Business Detox
Playbook is a really beautifulplace to begin.
It's free, it's powerful andit's linked for you right in the
show notes.
And if you love this episode,it would mean the world to me if
you'd leave a five-star reviewwherever you're listening.
It helps more people find thiswork and it helps me keep
creating content that supportsyou on your journey.

(15:19):
So thank you so much for beinghere with me today and until
next time, remember you are themagic.
