In this soulful episode of You Are the Magic, Christine DeHerrera explores the transformative power of living from your values—not your to-do list. Inspired by the timeless poem She Walks in Beauty by Lord Byron, Christine shares how rediscovering beauty as a core frequency has reshaped her life, her business, and her creative energy. Beauty, she reminds us, isn’t surface-level or decorative—it’s a way of seeing and being that infuses our days with reverence, joy, and aliveness.

Through personal reflections on somatic healing, nervous system regulation, and the slow unraveling of what no longer fits, Christine reveals how aligning with values like joy, connection, serendipity, and gentleness creates momentum that feels grounded and true. She invites you to reflect on your own guiding frequencies and to finish the year strong—not by doing more, but by returning to what truly matters.

If you’ve been craving inspiration, peace, and a sense of reconnection with yourself, this episode is your reminder that beauty isn’t something outside of you—it’s the frequency of who you are.

Christine DeHerrera (00:00):
Welcome to You Are the Magic.
I'm Christine DeHerrera, andI'm so glad you're here.
My entire idea for this episodewas to talk about beauty.
You might have guessed I'm aLibra.
I was going to talk about howto find beauty in the everyday,
how to get inspired from beauty, because recently I remembered

(00:22):
that way back in high school, ormaybe it was college, I
encountered this rather famouspoem by Lord Byron, She Walks in
Beauty.
He was one of the romanticpoets, and I was super into that
at that age.
And it's still a reallyinspiring poem.
And I hadn't thought about thatpoem in forever.
And this year I have beenrevisiting my values, which I

(00:47):
like to think of as thefrequency from which we're
living, the feelings that we'rehaving.
So when I say values, that'swhat I'm talking about.
And I remembered this poembecause it's really about the
essence of beauty, not justphysical beauty.
I'm gonna just read you alittle bit of it.
And then I found this amazingversion by Tom Hiddleston on

(01:09):
YouTube, and I will link that inthe show notes because I can't
do this poem justice, but itgives you an idea of why I'm so
inspired by it.
She walks in beauty like thenight of cloudless climbs and
starry skies, and all that'sbest of dark and bright meet in
her aspect and her eyes, thusmellowed to that tender light,

(01:31):
which heaven to gaudy daydenies.
It's not a real long poem.
You should definitely listen toTom Middleston read it to you
because it's amazing.
And I've just loved that poemfor as long as I can remember,
but I had forgotten about it.
And how often does this happen?
That we are busy in our lives, doing our work, taking care of

(01:53):
our families.
And the very things that aremost important to us, we forget
about them.
We forget about the valueswe're supposed to be living from
throughout our entire day.
And that's why I wanted tocircle back around to this,
because this year I redid all ofmy core values.
It's been a really long timecoming.
And I was really surprised backin March when I was doing a

(02:18):
breath work that beauty came upas one of my values.
When I talk about beauty, I amnot talking about surface-level
aesthetics or lip fillers orwhatever.
All those things are fine, butI'm talking beauty as in the
platonic sense of the word, intrinsic inner beauty.
You know it when you see aflower or a hedgehog or a

(02:43):
beautiful crystal or a rock.
Beauty as a core frequency, beauty as a way of seeing and
living.
And I was really surprised whenthat came up, but it felt like
exactly what I needed for thisyear, seeing as how this year is
a dumpster fire in the generalsense.
Living from beauty seems reallyvaluable.

(03:05):
And that's when I thought, oh,besides just talking about
beauty on this episode, I reallywant to talk about the power of
living from your values.
This is the time to really getback to that and how values or
these frequencies or thesefeelings can shape the way
you're building your businessand doing your work, how you're

(03:27):
navigating your relationships.
And basically, this is how youmove through your life.
Of course, this is not a newidea.
Values work has been around forforever.
It's the basis of intentionalliving, conscious creation, and
values work is talked about inbusiness all the time.
For decades, people havedeveloped their business core

(03:49):
values.
So this is something peopleknow about.
But how often do we drift awayfrom those values?
How often are we makingdecisions from fear or
obligation or scarcity?
Maybe you've had one of thosemornings, I know I have, where
you sit down for your money dateand you feel that pinch of
constriction, even though yourvalue is abundance.

(04:11):
Or maybe you open the documentfor your creative project.
And instead of feeling joy andpossibility, you feel like this
has to work.
I have to make this work.
This has to make money.
This has to prove something tosomeone.
And need is driving the businstead of the values that you
intended to live from.
We all do it.
There's no shame in it.

(04:32):
And we're living in a time whenthe old systems are cracking.
Everything that is broken issurfacing so we can rebuild it
with love and humanity.
And that's exactly why thiswork, your work, my work, this
values work matters so muchright now.
Like I said, values work hasbeen around forever.

(04:52):
I used it to intentionallybuild my business way back in
the day.
But this all took on adifferent meaning, a different
feeling around 10 years ago.
Back then, I really wasn'tthinking about how I felt when I
was doing things.
I was thinking about whatneeded to get done, even if it
was things I was really excitedabout, like my writing projects

(05:13):
or taking care of clients andtaking care of my children,
basically taking care ofeverything and everyone.
And I was not thinking, how doI want to feel as I do this?
I was just doing.
But I started learning aboutthis and I started small.
I picked a few words thatrepresented how I wanted to feel
at the time.

(05:33):
These were my core values.
How do I want to feel as I movethroughout my day?
How do I want to feel when I'mtaking care of my kids?
How do I want to feel when I'mtaking care of my clients?
How do I want to feel?
At first, my words were thingslike spacious, nourished,
vibrant, magic, connected.
Pretty much the opposite of howI'd been living because I was

(05:55):
over-efforting, I wasover-delivering, I was busy all
the time.
Of course, all of these arequalities our culture completely
rewards, but that wereabsolutely draining the life out
of me.
And so I started living fromspaciousness and creating space
in my day.
And that's a core piece of myframework when I work with my

(06:16):
one-to-one coaching clients.
Same thing with nourished.
I took that beyond the literalsense of eating healthy food,
which I had always done, butliterally nourishing my mind, my
body, my soul in everyday life.
And again, I have incorporatedthis into the business I have
built now, which is reallyexciting and fun.

(06:37):
Once you pick your core values, your core frequencies, you
don't just keep them forever.
And so every once in a whileI'd sit down with a cup of
delicious coffee and my journal, and I would revisit those words
and see if they stillresonated.
Sometimes I would tweak them aslife evolved.
And then during the pandemic, everything went bananas, right?

(06:58):
But I found a whole new levelthat involved somatic healing.
I began to learn about thenervous system for the first
time.
And that was before these hadbecome common everyday things.
And that's when everythingreally began to change for me.
And at first, of course, itchanged in the hard way.

(07:21):
More problems, more challenges.
I had to learn to really embodythese frequencies on a whole
nother level.
And in 2023, I finally found myown amazing teacher, Alicia,
who is, in my humble opinion, the world's best at nervous
system regulation and somatichealing.

(07:42):
And she's got a whole notherlayer of being a priestess.
And I started doing the workwith her.
So I was doing breath work, somatic movement.
I was learning how my body wascommunicating with me.
Piece by piece, it startedopening me up to something
deeper.
The values work that I had donehad definitely created space.
I had definitely beennourishing myself.

(08:04):
And I couldn't have done thisnew level without having gone
through all of that.
This somatic work and thebreath work really let my body
begin to speak and I could hearfor the first time.
That was profound and wild.
It wasn't surprising that someold grief came back up,
obviously, memories about mydad's diagnosis and death when I

(08:28):
was a teenager, my brother'ssudden passing a little bit
later.
But it was all of theday-to-day experiences where I'd
silenced myself or not beenfully myself that had really
shaped me as an adult.
And so I had to slow down andlisten to my body.

(08:48):
And as I did, my body began toreveal who I was becoming.
This has been a very longprocess.
And so this year in 2025, it'sall starting to come together.
So after what I've jokinglycalled my dark decade of the
soul, and thanks for thelanguaging for that, Kyra.
I've been asking, like, who amI now?

(09:11):
What do I stand for now?
What do I want to create now?
And I've been working in thisfrequency work, this values
work.
And that's when beauty startedcoming up.
That's when joy really startedcoming up.
And joy, I'm a happy, enthusiastic person, but joy has
never been a frequency thatreally resonated with me.

(09:32):
I literally didn't get it.
But this year, joy becamesomething that was calling to
me.
And I realized I wasrecalibrating and changing and
becoming a new person again thisyear.
I was trying to sort of nailthem down.
I'm like, let's get going.
I want to get momentum.
I have things I'm doing.
I have projects I'm working on.

(09:52):
I'm building this newer versionof my business and I'm ready
for momentum.
Like every day I wrote down theword momentum.
And but finally on October 7thof this year, it all came at
once.
Just bam.
But it was because I had beendoing all of this work for
literally years at this point.
And what dropped in for me wasjoy and beauty, connection,

(10:16):
serendipity.
I love that word, like the JohnCusack movie, renaissance, and
also the word gentle.
Because as a high achiever anda go-getter, I want to achieve
all of these things withgentleness.
And then all of this being heldin a container of
effervescence.
I've often described myself asenthusiastic, and that's

(10:39):
legitimately my natural state.
But effervescence has thissparkly champagne quality and
fun that I would like to holdjoy, beauty, connection,
serendipity, renaissance, andgentleness in a beautiful cup of
effervescence with a dash ofrebirth.
Because hey, we're here totransform.
And I thought, yes, this is whoI'm becoming.

(11:02):
This is who I am now.
So it's continuing to holdthese vibrations, these values,
and finding the things thatinspire us and remind us every
day.
And this is also fresh to me.
I have to look at this everyday.
I need reminders on my phoneall day long to stay in these
frequencies, to remind myself,to take care of myself so I can

(11:24):
hold these frequencies.
And I've been in a program withAlicia for the vast majority of
this year where that is what weare learning to do is to hold
the voltage of our power, ourinternal power.
We're not talking about powerover anybody else.
We're talking about our ownlife force energy.
And I wanted to share all ofthis because if you're like me,
this has been a reallyinteresting year and you've been

(11:46):
shedding old identities, maybeyou've built some new things.
And we're at that time of theyear where we're taking stock of
did I live up to that word ofthe year?
Did I get those projectscreated that I said I wanted to
create this year?
And also looking ahead to 2026.
And so if you are feeling like, hey, I need to do my own values

(12:08):
work, then this is your sign todo it.
Or if you've already done thatand you're feeling really solid
for each of them, how can youfind inspiration?
Do you find that through music, books, going for walks in
nature, trips to the art museum, decorating your house for
holidays or baking beautifulmeals for your family or
friends?
And it doesn't have to besomething big.

(12:30):
Using beauty as our example.
Beauty is not perfection ordecoration.
It's it's reverence, really.
It's noticing the symmetry of aleaf, the way the sunlight
comes in through the kitchenwindow, the color of a horse's
mane, stranger's smile, orremembering that old poem I used
to like back in the day andremembering it still existed.

(12:53):
Beauty is being awake to theworld, its presence.
And so I am making it apriority to spend time in places
that stir beauty in me.
It might be the botanicgardens, a quiet trail, fashion.
I'm really excited to return tomy love of fashion.
Basically anything anywherethat helps me remember how

(13:14):
miraculous this life really is.
And as I'm returning to beautyand my other core values, the
more everything else isaligning.
My creativity, my energy, myrelationships, my business.
I have new programs coming thatI have been dreaming of coming
into the world now.
And I'm so excited.
And I want that for you becauseI know you're passionate about

(13:37):
what you're doing and the workyou're creating and your
relationships with your people.
So I'd love for you to considerwhat is the frequency you want
to live right now?
And what values and feelings doyou want to guide your choices,
your creations, yourrelationships?
And use this time to reflect.
Who did I think I'd be by nowwhen this year began?

(13:58):
Who am I actually becoming?
And there's still so much yearleft.
And we're not gonna get wherewe're going by pushing harder,
but by going deeper.
And so revisit those values.
Remember who you are, name howyou want to feel as this year is
winding down, but also rememberthere's so much year left.

(14:20):
When you live from your values, the frequencies that matter,
the frequencies of joy andbeauty and gentleness, you
become the tuning fork forpeace.
You don't just shift your ownlife, but all the lives around
you.
And all that shifting changeseverything.
And that's what the world needsright now: humanity, love,

(14:40):
people living from aliveness andresonance and reverence for
what this life is.
So, in closing, I want to hearwhat your values are, what
values are guiding you thisseason.
