In the second episode of Long Term Care Legislative Updates I am joined by return guest Cinnamon St. John from the Center for Medicare Advocacy to discuss the details of proposed legislation in Connecticut and on the Federal level.

We focus this episode on staffing challenges; wage disparities, pool agencies, consistency of quality care, turnover, and staff burnout. We are hoping to create transparency related to nursing home operations and each component of care. We discuss which issues have been ongoing and those who have appeared during the pandemic.

Possible solutions we talk about are adding value to staff positions, appropriate pay, and adding back programs that allow employees to move up the career ladder.

Mairead Painter is the Long Term Care Ombudsman for the state of Connecticut and a leader who is building strong community ties in the challenging area of long term care. She brings her expertise to address issues and solutions to Your Care-Your Rights-Your Voice podcast.
