Speaker 1 (00:00):
We are making our own
story as we go.
Hi, welcome to your Dream DayPodcast.
I'm Kathy Peach Lucas with yourDream Day, and today I'm here
with Christy Bulock of BridesMafia, and we're going to talk
about mimosas.
Yes, mimosas, the mimosas.
So what are the mimosas?
Speaker 2 (00:18):
all about Mimosas
with the mafia.
So it's our wedding show that'scoming up on March 23rd, which
is a Sunday.
So so it's our wedding showthat's coming up on March 23rd,
which is a Sunday.
So a little bit different thanwhat we've done in the past.
We've always been thatafter-hour show.
So if you've heard of theafter-hours, we're now mimosas
with the mafia.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
And what's great is
it's from 12 to 3 at Memorial
Hall on March 23rd Yep andpeople can go to church and then
they can pray for help withtheir wedding and then they can
actually go to the wedding showand get it.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
Yes, yeah, we're all
about that ease, making sure
that you know people can comeit's a one-stop shop and get it
done.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
Well and it's.
There's no cost to go, that'scorrect, it's free.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
That's you can't, get
any better wedding planning
than that?
Speaker 1 (00:57):
Yeah, what are you
going to find really in your
wedding that's free, like whenyou're planning, let's be honest
, and it's also what's greatabout wedding shows is they're a
nice change of pace fromscrolling through TikTok and
Instagram Reels, because that'swhat a lot of couples are doing
now is they're going on TikTokand Instagram Reels to get ideas
for their wedding.
Which ideas and brainstorms aregreat.
They're like a Pinterest board, but translating those to
(01:18):
in-human, in-person talking tothe vendor.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
Right.
Speaker 1 (01:22):
That's where a
wedding show can really come
into play.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
Right, and talking to
the vendor.
That's where a wedding show canreally come into play, right,
and that's what we are here for.
We are your Pinterest boardthat comes to life.
So you walk in, you've gotdecor, you've got vendors
building out booths to show youreally what they can do, not
just a photo of something.
So, you know, immerse yourselfwithin that scene and be like
this is what my wedding couldhonestly feel like, and it's
(01:43):
exciting to watch the couplescome and it all, like you start
to see it come together, because, I mean, I'm sure that you know
if you've been engaged for alittle bit, you've gotten to the
other big shows, but we're notlike those.
We are all about, you know, getting you into who you are
going to be and telling yourstory on your wedding day, and
that's what our vendors arethere for to really showcase
(02:04):
what they can do.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
Your dream day.
Your dream day, that's right.
Well, and it goes back to youknow, one of the themes for the
show is personalization.
We'll talk a little bit aboutthe personalization.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
Yeah, so you can
personalize your dress with
Renee Grace Bridal, which isgoing to be super exciting.
She has little cutouts of likedresses and can show you what
all you can do and I mean thedresses she has were here in the
store today.
It's just absolutely stunning.
And what's so cool is you pickwhat you want on your dress, so
it's not just going in andpicking one off of the shelf
(02:37):
Always, you know, like you haveat some of the other stores
around town.
You can really sit down withher, personalize it.
It's such a unique experience.
We're excited to have them apart of the show again.
And then also personalizing, you know, your wedding
photography, your catering menu, your desserts, which I'm so
excited for.
Even your bartending, especially drinks, are still
(02:58):
huge.
Do you want an espresso martini?
Do you want a mimosa?
We're going to have it all, butyou can personalize with the
bartenders that are going to beat the show to really like set
the theme for your wedding.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
Oh, that's wonderful.
That's wonderful, and peoplecan taste as well.
Oh, absolutely so.
They'll be catering there.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
There will be
catering.
Yes, we make sure that we coverall of those.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
Well, what are some
tips of something that someone
should do when they go to awedding show Especially?
You know, what's nice about theMafia show is it's a little
more intimate as opposed to thelarge ones that they've seen up
to this point at conventions onours, Correct.
So what are some questions thatthey can be asking vendors
during shows like this?
Speaker 2 (03:41):
Yeah.
So I mean, first and foremost, you want to make sure that the
vendor is available for yourdate.
Um, if you don't have a date, that's fine, still come out,
because that's going to be thenext thing in your planning.
Um, you know, just get to knowtheir personality, especially
people who are with you all dayphotography, videography,
wedding coordinator you need tomake sure that you mesh well.
They're going to set the wholetone for the day.
(04:02):
If you're having a great timewith your photographer and
videographer, that's going toshow in your photos.
If your wedding coordinator andyou are button heads, that's
not going to, you know, go verywell.
So you want to make sure thatyou really like them.
So really meeting thatface-to-face person, getting
their expert advice.
Talk to them.
They do this every day.
You've probably not planned awedding, or maybe you've planned
(04:24):
one before, but you still mightneed that guidance to see what
it is that you are wanting toachieve.
So really that like one-on-one,talking with them.
You know, don't just like runby the booth.
You know they're nice, I promisethey won't bite you Um, you
know we're all there to help youand plan your day um the best
way possible and make sure thatit's.
You know it goes off, just likeaddress labels, so you don't
(04:51):
have to sit there and write yourname.
So you can put your name, yourdate If you have a wedding venue
and a date, that's great onthere your email, your phone
number, ways that they can getin touch with you, so that way
you're not writing it down 50different times and then you can
just stick it on their sheet, whatever and it's legible.
And it's legible.
You don't want to miss out on awinning something because you
(05:12):
can't read it like a Y.
That's right.
Um, so, yeah, so there'll beexclusive discounts.
I'm sure that vendors will begiving um, there's a $500
giveaway that day for ahoneymoon.
Um, there's a $10,000 vacationgiveaway, that there, you can
register for that day, and thenalso I can get married again.
Speaker 1 (05:30):
Okay, let's go.
Don't tell Jimmy it again.
Speaker 2 (05:32):
Okay, let's go, don't
tell Jimmy, and then everybody
that comes gets $100 credittowards Susan's getaways and
dreams vacation.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
So right there
walking in the door.
You get 100 bucks from them.
You're already ahead of thegame.
Speaker 2 (05:45):
You're already ahead
of the game and we're going to
have some swag bags which havelike some fun little things in
it Gift certificates todifferent vendors, also some
freebies I can't really say yet,but there's some really cool
nice little hair products andstuff that we've got in there
from a big name company.
So, yeah, it's going to be.
It's going to be really fun andI like the Spivex, because
(06:06):
they're pink.
Speaker 1 (06:07):
Oh yeah, they say
you're doing a podcast on it,
which is why we're so gladyou're tuned into us.
Yes, well, and I was justthinking about what you were
talking about with.
The reason why wedding showsare so great is that you get a
chance to know the vendors, because you're going to be
working with them so much behindthe scenes on the day of the
wedding and you don't just speakas a wedding show producer, you
(06:29):
also speak as a photographer.
Speaker 2 (06:30):
Yes, yeah, so you
know, speak as a photographer?
Yes, yeah, so you know.
Yeah, that one-on-one gettingto know my client is huge,
because then I can really figureout who they are and make that,
you know, show in their photoswhether they're a silly, you
know couple together.
We want to show those candidlaughing moments or, you know,
are they more like that you knowromantic type where, um, you
(06:53):
know, they just fall togetherperfectly, so like when we do
engagement shoots.
That's why we do engagementshoots is to get to know them.
This is kind of like I say it'sa trial run for the wedding day
.
This is a trial run for yourwedding day.
Come to the show, get to knowthem and meet them, talk with
them, find out what it is thatthey do, whether it's dresses,
food, video, you name it andyou're one step ahead, you know,
(07:17):
right there.
Then you can start talkingabout packages and you know all
the fun stuff that goes into it.
Speaker 1 (07:22):
The other thing
that's so great about wedding
shows is that it's an outing, yes, so fun, and you don't just
want to come with just yourfiance, no.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
Bring the guys, bring
the family.
You know it's fun for everybodyand there's something for
everybody.
I mean even the dads love, because there's cake, you know,
and there's food and we don'thave to worry about football
this time of year that's right,I know, I know, yep, that's true
.
But yeah, bring your friends,you.
But, yeah, bring your friends.
You can get dressed up, you candress down.
(07:55):
Come as you are, have a greattime.
Speaker 1 (07:57):
That's one thing that
we do see at wedding shows a
lot, where it's almost like theydress up like they do for the
bachelorette party.
Speaker 2 (08:03):
Yeah, yeah, They'll
wear like these sashes.
Well, we'll give you a sash ina veil.
We've got all that covered, ohfun, so don't worry about that.
Speaker 1 (08:13):
But you know,
seriously, get dressed, get
dressed up, make fun t-shirts.
Speaker 2 (08:17):
Yeah, and wear sashes
and we see like pins that say
like bride groom, you know, engage whatever.
It's super fun yeah.
Speaker 1 (08:24):
So it's an outing as
well as something that's going
to legitimately help you planyour wedding.
Speaker 2 (08:29):
Oh, for sure.
Speaker 1 (08:30):
And in theory you
could plan your entire wedding
in one day, one day Done.
Speaker 2 (08:34):
Yeah, that would be
so easy, wouldn't it?
Speaker 1 (08:36):
I would love that,
let's do it, then let's do it
March 23rd.
Speaker 2 (08:40):
Come on out and we'll
plan your wedding.
That's right.
Speaker 1 (08:44):
March 23rd at
Memorial Hall.
