I'm Eric.
You know my friend Heather HiAt the end of this five, over
the course of the next fiveminutes.
We're just here to encourageyou, sharing some ideas and some
thoughts and some inspirationfor you.
And at the end of the fiveminutes, if you still need some
encouragement, we'd invite youto listen to Virginia's home for
encouragement WPER.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
Yeah, you can listen on your smart speaker.
Just tell it to play WPER, oryou can download the WPER app at
WPERorg.

Speaker 1 (00:31):
Looking for every way we can to encourage you.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Especially after you've had one of those days
right where everything feelslike it's just too much and the
to-do list keeps growing andpeople keep needing you and all
you want to do is hit pause, butyou can't now.
If that is you in this moment, take a deep breath, because
you're in the right place for alittle encouragement you've seen
the memes like a dumpster fire.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
Yeah, but life can actually truly feel that way
sometimes.
You know it piles up work, family responsibilities,
expectations.
It's like you're juggling ahundred things at once.
That's not even part.
Well, I don't know if youpractice Maybe.
Nobody wants to do that, youknow.
And then if one more thing getsthrown into the mix, you feel
like you're going to dropeverything.
If you've ever thought I know,I have.

(01:17):
I can't handle this.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
Oh gosh, yes.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
You were actually never meant to handle it all
alone.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
Yeah, absolutely.
But that's easy to forget whenyou're right in the middle of it
.
For me, I'm a wife, I'm amother, I'm a full-time employee
, I'm a friend, I'm a sister,I'm a daughter and I'm always
going to show up because I wantto help the people in my life
that I care for.
But I know a lot of people justlike me who keep showing up for
everybody else and puttingourselves last and last week I

(01:44):
was sitting in my car after areally long day.
I get this email about somemedical treatment for our
daughter and they're like oh,it's only going to be $6,000.
I broke down I don't have thatand like that was the last
little thing.
So tears start pouring down myface and I just was saying God,
I don't know how much more ofthis I can take.

(02:05):
And even in that moment ofanger, of frustration and
exasperation, I heard thislittle small whisper God said
you were never meant to carry itall by yourself.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
And when you're knee deep in whatever it is you're
facing and trying to handleeverything or fix things, you
get to that point where maybeand you've said it, I have I
can't do it anymore.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
You know, maybe that's.
The problem, though, you know,is that we're telling God that
we're not able to do it, becauseif we admit that we feel weak,
you know, it's almost like we'resaying to God I can't handle
everything going on in my liferight now, so I'm a total
failure.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
Well, here's the thing God doesn't expect us to
handle it or take care ofeverything by ourselves.
Matthew 11, 28, right there inhis living words, has come to me
.
All you who are weary andburdened, and I will give you
rest.
God isn't asking you to carrythe weight of everything going
on in the world.
He's inviting you to lay itdown.

(03:07):
Lay down the burden of doing itall by yourself.
Lay down the stress of trying tohold everything together.
Listen, drop the weight ofbeing everything to everyone.
Just drop it.
He is asking you to give it tohim.

Speaker 2 (03:17):
Oh gosh, I love that.
So what do you do when youstart feeling overwhelmed?
First thing is to literallystop right where you are.
I had a pastor tell me that andI was like that feels crazy.
But when you physically stopright where you are and you take
a deep breath, and then another, if you have to, and then maybe
another, just breathe, and theninstead of saying God help me

(03:41):
figure this out, or God, I haveto do this, just say God, I'm
giving this to you now.
Don't ask for his help.
Give it to him because it's alittle clue I'm learning.
He didn't need your help, heyeven a simpler prayer.

Speaker 1 (03:54):
if you can't remember all that is just Lord, help me.
Yes, so powerful in thosemoments.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
And something else you can do when you're
overwhelmed is prioritize yourpeace right, it's not selfish,
it's essential, becauseeverything feels urgent, right,
but not everything that you haveto do is essential.
So ask yourself what needs myattention right now?
What needs my attention today?
Can it wait till tomorrow?

(04:20):
What can I say no to?

Speaker 1 (04:22):
And give yourself permission to say no to things.
I mean it's okay to say no ifit's going to preserve you and
give you a little more peace inyour life.

Speaker 2 (04:30):
Yes, and we can say it together.
I am not alone, I do not haveto do everything by myself, and
I won't let my overwhelm stealmy peace.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
God's holding you and his grace is enough.

Speaker 2 (04:41):
Yep.
His grace is enough.
Now, if this message encouragedyou, share it with somebody
else who needs to hear it.
And don't forget you're doingbetter than you think.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
Hey, if you need more encouragement, remember
Virginia's home forencouragement, WPER.
Just download the WPER app.

Speaker 2 (04:55):
Yep, you can do that at WPERorg.
