Marcos is sitting here with menow.
First off, thank you, marcos, for being here.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
Thanks, scott, pleasure to be here.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
Yeah, now, marcos has been in one role, but he's just
recently transitioned into anew role which we want to talk
about.
So, marcos, before we do that,I want to get a little bit of
background on you.
You're a younger guy, youngcompared to me, young compared
to most folks.
Tell me a little bit aboutyourself, just kind of the one

(02:18):
and a half to two minute versionof you know your life up until
now.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
So I was born and raised in Sacramento, sacramento
native.
I'm a huge Kings fan.
I'm sure we can get to thatlater.
Yeah, so I a prior life.
I came from education,specifically technology.
So I worked at a private schoolfor a long time about a decade
and, you know, got a chance towork with a lot of kids and
focus on, you know, it relatedmatters some video editing, a

(02:44):
little bit of photography so itwas fun for me, but also managed
all of the technology at thecampus, everything from MacBooks
to iPads.
So it's kind of an interestingtransition here.
You know, different career pathbut honestly, I love it.
I've always been interested infinance and I love, you know,
problem solving.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
So so we didn't just bring you here to give us new
email passwords and fix it whenwe can't log into account.
So so Marcos has been with usalmost two years.
I think he started right afterThanksgiving in 2021.
And you started in one, onerole, but now, over the last few
weeks, you're transitioninginto a new role.

(03:25):
You're a full fledged financialadvisor.
You've got your license.
So tell me about the licensethat you hold and also the new
role that you're transitioninginto as a service advisor here.

Speaker 3 (03:38):
Yeah, yeah.
So hold a series 65 license aswell as insurance.
So previously was assisting ouradvisors with some planning on
the back end, you know, usingour software to assist with
financial plans.
So, moving forward, I'm happyand excited to work with our
clients.
A lot of you guys have alreadyhad a chance to meet and work

(03:58):
with, but I'll be servicingChris's clients.
So Chris Boulman, our founderand CEO, had a chance to meet
some of you and excited to kindof expand on that and learn a
little bit more.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
One thing that we've noticed everyone has a different
personality and you know Ialways joke with you that your
personality you're so calm thatyou could tell someone.
Tell someone, hey, your houseis on fire, but everything's
going to be okay.
Tell me a little bit about you, know your, you know your
personality as, as you see itbecause when we're talking about

(04:29):
sensitive topics with folks beit money, market, risk, all
these different things how doesyour communication style, how do
you think that?
Why do you think that willtranslate well to folks?

Speaker 3 (04:41):
You know, I just think I'm pretty honest and
genuine and you know, for me Itry to not get too high or too
low about anything.
You know everything in my life.
I think my wife will laugh andjoke with me that you know I
don't get too animated or angry, which I think is a good thing,
and I hope I kind of convey that, that same comfort, to others.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
So yeah, I was going to ask so you mentioned your
wife.
Her name's Sammy.
You're somewhat newly marriednow still in that honeymoon
phase.
Tell me about your, your family, you and Sammy, how
everything's going at this point.

Speaker 3 (05:18):
Yeah, everything's been going great.
We we dated for quite some timeand we actually are coming up
on one year tomorrow, so sorry,it's our anniversary this
weekend.
We're getting out of town andgoing up to Tahoe, so just kind
of kind of enjoy.
But things have been goinggreat.
We're excited for the nextchapter.
She's a second grade teacherand she absolutely loves it.

(05:39):
We're excited to start a familysoon.
And, yeah, things have beengoing great.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
One thing you mentioned.
I guess I'm kind of dancingaround different topics, but you
mentioned that you've alwaysbeen interested in the financial
realm.
You know, now that you're herefull-fledged, what are some of
the things that you that youstill enjoy now that you're, you
know, knee-deep in it andworking with folks.
What are some of those thingsspecifically that you like about
.
You know finances and then therole that you're serving here.

Speaker 3 (06:06):
Like I said earlier, I just I like problem solving.
You know I've always beenpassionate about the stock
market, been curious about it.
I'm a little bit of a nerd, youknow, my drive's home I'm not
listening to music generally ifit's just me in the car I'm
listening to, you know, newsbits and kind of seeing what's
going on with the Fed.
It just intrigues me.

(06:27):
So I like solving problems.
You know, help some familymembers out with questions,
friends with questions, soreally all of it is is
intriguing to me.
So I'm, you know, happy to kindof share that, that interest,
with others.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
Well, I told you I wouldn't throw any monkey
wrenches in, but here's one foryou.
There's.
I've heard a saying before thatsays you always want two people
younger than you your doctorand your financial advisor.
And you're a younger guy,you're in your early 30s.
Why, from your vantage point,is it important to be working
with someone that might beyounger?

Speaker 3 (07:01):
It's a good question.
I mean, I think there's alwaysthings that are changing,
whether that's technology, youknow, I also kind of have more
of a pulse on things, and thenI'm just I remain curious.
I'm a.
I see myself as a lifelonglearner.
I'm always going to be learning.
I want to stay kind of withwith the times, with the trends,
and I think I'll be around fora while.

Speaker 2 (07:21):
What you know when you're looking at.
You said problem solving, whichyou know there's always a lot
of problems in the financialrealm.
What are some of the ones thatyou've seen that we help solve
here and that you specificallyhave have a hand in?
Maybe not the specific stories, but just kind of in a general
sense?
What are some of the problemsthat you've seen that we've been
able to solve and obviously fitinto that equation?

Speaker 3 (07:42):
You know, I think things would just around tax
efficiency, right, we've got alot of people to have qualified
accounts, we've got RMDs comingup.
How can we kind of map out andplan, you know their what they
can expect to need to draw perthe IRS when they come that age?
You know 73 now it's going tobe 75 and 10 years or so.

(08:03):
So kind of getting ahead ofsome of those problems that we
foresee in the future and kindof taking the steps now to
mitigate some of that and thenalso just kind of compiling
different portfolios right, wedon't want to be all aggressive.
It depends on, or tooconservative it depends on,
someone's age.
So you know, using annuities asa component and kind of seeing

(08:25):
where that fits in with theiroverall portfolio.

Speaker 2 (08:28):
As you mentioned before, you've been interested
in finances for years.
Now that you're here working infinance for almost two years,
what are maybe a couple ofthings that have surprised you
now that you've been here, likewow, I didn't know, this was
like this, or is there anythingspecifically that made you stood
out that maybe surprised youbit now that you're working in
the actual financial realm?

Speaker 3 (08:49):
That's a good question.
Nothing that I can think ofspecifically.
I thought Bitcoin was going todo a little bit better, but no,
I'm kidding.
Yeah, really it's.
You know, I think once you'rekind of in the industry, hearing
the lingo and the jargon allthe time, it sounds really
daunting at first if you're notin this world.

(09:11):
And it's really not thatcomplex, and that's something I
think that we help our clientswith is getting to kind of break
that down right.
I mentioned I came fromeducation, so kind of explaining
things in a simpler way, breaking it down in the simplest
form, I think, is somethingthat we're all really good at as
a team and I think, becausewe're in it every day, it's easy

(09:34):
to us.

Speaker 2 (09:35):
Well, you mentioned earlier, you don't get too high
or too low.
At the same time, you're a bigsports fan.
Specifically, you know theKings, as you referenced
literally in the first 10seconds of your first answer.
So tell me about your lifelongfandom with the Kings and what
that looks like now that thingsare actually looking up for them

(09:56):
.

Speaker 3 (09:56):
Yeah, yeah, it's been a while.
I remember going to Kings gameswith my dad, you know, at Arco
Arena in Atomis and just theenvironment.
There is a little guy, you know, it was maybe three, four years
old.
That was my first game, growingup watching them on TV.
You know the Western ConferenceFinals run with the Lakers back
in the early 2000s it's.

(10:18):
You know it's been a tough 15,20 years but it's nice to kind
of see them coming around.
I try to take an annual trip tokind of go see them play in a
different city every year.
That's kind of my fun littlevacation.
I don't travel a whole lot, soit's a nice excuse to go explore
a new city and, you know, travel the country.
But I've always been intosports, and basketball

(10:40):
specifically has been a passionof mine.

Speaker 2 (10:42):
So yeah, so last year , I think, you went to Minnesota
for a trip.
Do you know yet where you andyour buddies are going for the
next season, or is that kind ofTBD to be determined?

Speaker 3 (10:53):
So the schedule dropped, I think about a week
and a half ago, and 30 minuteslater someone from our group had
a spreadsheet mapped out withcolor-coded options for us.
So I think we're leaningtowards New York and Brooklyn,
but nothing decided in stone yet.

Speaker 2 (11:09):
Speaking of interesting, I don't know if
this is up on the website yet,but I'm sure it's coming.
Generally, it's kind of fun forus to you know on our website
seeing 10 things you didn't knowabout.
So-and-so, what are two thingsthat people might be surprised
to know about you?

Speaker 3 (11:27):
Yeah, I said earlier, I'm kind of a nerd at heart.
I think you have to be superinto technology and even finance
, so I'd say that's probably one.
I'm surprised you haven't jokedabout this yet, although I did.
You just say yeah.
Yeah, I play in asemi-competitive kickball league
and it gets laughs around theoffice here, but I do enjoy it.

(11:50):
I try to stay as active aspossible.
I think that's important,especially getting into my 30s.
Now Parts of me get sore.
They didn't used to get sore inmy 20s, so yeah, that's kind of
an odd fact about me.

Speaker 2 (12:04):
Yeah, so you're a nerd at heart and you're into
kickball this interestingcombination.
We could go on and on.
But, as I said earlier, ifanything you heard today, even
about Marcos, or maybe I'm surea lot of you have spoken with
Marcos, either audibly on thephone, maybe at a Zoom call,
maybe have emailed.
But if you have questions forMarcos or want to chat with them

(12:24):
further, then always reach outto us at ask at bullmanwealthcom
.
But to cap things off, you'vementioned a few of these things
along the way of we're problemsolvers when it comes to finance
.
What are some of the things?
Now that you've been herealmost two years and your roles
change and you're going to havemore of a firm hand on those
problem solving instances, whatare some of the things that you

(12:46):
like about what we do and thathave you kind of excited moving
forward with this path?

Speaker 3 (12:52):
Well, I think it's just being able to kind of serve
our clients more frequently andjust kind of connect with
people differently.
We always say we're arelationship firm and I feel
that that's important, not onlyhere within in the office.
I think we're a very tight knitgroup and I think we emphasize
that with our clients as well.
I'm excited to kind of get intolearning about our clients a

(13:15):
little bit deeper, andeveryone's got different needs,
different goals.
It's not a cookie cutterproblem solving.
So getting to do financialplans and kind of planning out,
mapping out the next 15, 20, 30years for our clients, that's
what gets me excited.

Speaker 2 (13:31):
Well, let's leave this on a level of excitement.
You can jinx your team.
What is your?
Last year of the Kings?
They made it to the first round, which was quite a feat.
What is the prediction?
How far will they go in theplayoffs this upcoming season?

Speaker 3 (13:47):
Well, I got to say at least round two, as long as we
don't play the Warriors again.
We'll see.
Yeah, I'm really excited, I'mreally excited, but that's my
prediction.
Yeah, round two.

Speaker 2 (13:58):
Got it All right.
Well, we're excited to haveMarcos here.
As I mentioned, he's been herealmost two years.
A lot of our clients havegotten to know him and we'll get
to know him even better.
But thanks for joining us today.
It's fun to work with you andkind of see your growth.
But hey, everyone, thanks forlistening.
We were recording this leadinginto the Labor Day weekend.
Marcos about to celebrate hisone-year anniversary of marriage

(14:20):
.
But enjoy wherever you'relistening to this, enjoy the
rest of your day.
