Ever feel like you're drowning in noise—from social media, news cycles, and even your own mental chatter? You're not alone. The Akashic Records have a timely message about "cutting through the noise" during this transformative period in late September.

In this episode, we explore the Records' guidance for navigating the intense energies of late September, focusing on "cutting through the noise" to reconnect with our core values and inner wisdom. The metaphor of a cake knife slicing through layers reveals the importance of discernment during times of overwhelming change.

Key talking points include:

• What's pulling at your attention, and is it worth your time?
• Reconnecting with core values as an anchor during chaotic times
• Three-layer journaling practice to clear mental clutter
• Top layer: brain dump of mental chatter
• Middle layer: practical concerns and to-do lists
• Bottom layer: connecting with heart wisdom
• The Hermit card appears as confirmation of the need for introspection
• Living authentically requires continually tuning out the world's expectations

Rather than offering complicated spiritual practices, this episode delivers three powerful questions that act as your compass: What's pulling at your attention? Is it worth your time? What are your core values? These simple inquiries create immediate clarity when life feels chaotic. Dr. BethAnne shares a personal example of catching self-doubt and choosing to release it rather than waste precious energy on unhelpful thought patterns.

The synchronistic appearance of the Hermit card confirms this inward journey is exactly what we need right now. Place your hand on your heart. Take a deep breath. Remember that even in solitude, you belong to yourself, to nature, and to love.

Join us next week after Equinox for a special episode celebrating nature, balance, and harmony.

Intro/Outro Music (00:13):
Aloha and welcome to your Heart Magic, an
illuminating space wherepsychology, spirituality and
heart wisdom meet.
Here's your host, dr BethannKapansky-Wright.
Author, psychologist andspiritual educator.

Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wri (00:33):
Aloha everybody, welcome to your
Heart Magic.
This is Dr BethannKapansky-Wright, and today we
have an energy update for theweek from the Akashic Records.
I opened the records and lookedat the energy for the second
half of September because Ipersonally felt inspired to zoom
in on this chunk of time.

(00:54):
Right now there's so muchhappening we have a new moon
coming up, equinox is coming up,there is a lot going on in the
world at this time.
There is a lot going on in theworld at this time and with all
of that energy swirling, I findit helpful for my own practice
to go into the records andreceive guidance, and this week
I thought, well, why not sharethat on the podcast?

(01:15):
If it is something that I feelis helpful and it's so grounding
to me, I think others wouldrelate to it and connect with it
as well.
So it was kind of interestingwhen I opened the Akashic
Records for this week ahead andI opened it specifically for the
second half of the month ofSeptember I was hearing and
seeing the phrase cuttingthrough the noise and I also had

(01:39):
an image of this big cake knifeand it was going through a
layer cake and it was cuttingthrough the layers so that one
could not only have their pieceof cake, but the emphasis was on
the idea of layers and cuttingthrough something and really
seeing what's there, and so allthe imagery and the feeling that
was coming through was rightnow there's a profound

(02:02):
invitation to cut through thenoise, cut through the chatter,
cut through the layers andreally bring things back to a
core place where we feelgrounded, where we feel like we
can see things clearly, where wefeel like we can get into our
hearts.
I really had this colossalsense of chaos swirling right

(02:24):
now noise swirling, thingshappening at such a rapid fire
velocity, and the greatermessage from the Akashic Records
for the fourth quarter of 2025is all about change and
embracing change and leaninginto the change and surrendering
into it, and so there's a lotof change energy happening at

(02:47):
this time, and I don't thinkthat is something that is really
revolutionary to anybodylistening to this.
We are all tuned in in our ownways, to what's happening in the
world around us and ourcommunities, and we know we're
in the middle of change.
We know change is the onlyconstant.
I think it feels more evidentthan ever, though, and that

(03:08):
oftentimes, many of us arelooking at some of the things
happening and saying, well, Idon't have a script for this, I
don't have a good template forhow to navigate this and how to
work with some of thefluctuations and challenges and
information that is coming upand coming through at this time.
And so what do I do with this?
And it can be absolutelyoverwhelming to figure out how

(03:32):
to ground ourselves and what totune into and how to stay
focused and on our paths anddiscerning.
And what if I really were tomake a laundry list of all the
different things that we couldpotentially do to stay centered,
to practice good judgment, tostay connected.
It feels overwhelming to me,even when we're trying to come

(03:55):
at it from a spiritualperspective, and so the message
this week from the Akashic feltreally on point with this idea
of how do we just come back tothe core of things and cut
through all the noise, includingour own mental chatter, and
come back into that space ofgroundedness and come back into

(04:15):
our center.
So they gave some really goodguidance that I want to share
with you and some questions, some self-exploration questions
that we can ask ourselves, andthese can absolutely be used as
contemplation or journalingprompts.
And the first one is what'spulling at you and trying to get
your attention?
I really like this questionbecause I think if we just sit

(04:38):
down and, in our journal, make alist of all the different
things that might be pulling atour attention, and that could be
anything from things that wemight see on the internet,
social media, something that isa little bit more
technologically oriented.
It could be people, commitmentsand obligations.
It could be things thatsomebody wants us to do

(05:00):
something and we're on the fenceabout saying yes.
It could be something that isless relational and social and
coming from more of a spacewithin ourselves.
Am I getting distracted by myown thought process, by my own
mental chatter?
And the follow-up question tothat was is it worth your time?

(05:20):
And I love this question somuch because our time is so
valuable and I'm not intomaximizing time in a sense that
makes us feel like we alwayshave to be living to the fullest
or being productive or makingsure that we've accounted for
every single moment.
I think many people are reallychallenged with wasting time by

(05:44):
scrolling or being online orfeeling sometimes maybe we
procrastinate and don't feellike we use our time well, and
there's all sorts of tips andtools and strategies to try and
manage those things better inour life.
Having said that, I also thinkthat sometimes we just have to

(06:04):
have grace and recognize that wecan't always be maximizing time
and spending it wisely.
I think we aim for the ballparkof that, that we try and get
close to having a sense that weare using our time well, and
that that's not about perfection.
It's about feeling like, themajority of the time, we are

(06:25):
doing good things with the timethat we've been given that
resonate with us, and so when werecognize that we're spending
time dwelling on something, falling down the rabbit hole and
reading something or looking atsomething, watching something,
anything that doesn't reallyline up in our personal value
systems, where we feel likesomething's worth our time, then

(06:49):
there's an invitation there toremap and relook at what we're
giving our time to.
And so I really like thisquestion, and both of these
questions that the Akashic gaveus were given in a really
nonjudgmental way.
These are more questions forpersonal evaluation and
discernment and practicingwisdom.
Right now, there's not a rightor wrong answer to any of this.

(07:12):
Somebody might say that theyreally enjoy watching cat videos
or something, and that's agreat use of their time because
it makes them laugh and theyfeel lighter and that they need
time for their brain to unwindand to focus on something silly
or frivolous.
And so it's not about right orwrong and it's not about

(07:32):
justifying what we're doing toanybody's spirit.
It's not out there judging you.
There's not some universaljudge with a gavel telling you
that you're wasting your time orthat you're doing a good job
with your time.
It's not about that.
It's about coming into our ownpersonal value system and
checking in with ourselves andasking how do I feel about this

(07:53):
and does this feel good to me?
I'll give you a really goodexample.
It's a really simple one, butit was a thought that I had the
other night.
I'm doing a choreographyproject and I was driving back
home from it and I had thismoment of self-doubt, with some
of the dance I'd come up withand an exchange that I'd had
that evening.
It was something really small.

(08:14):
This was just my anxiety mind,my self-doubt, my stuff that was
coming up, and it was this kindof hit to confidence and I
maybe entertained this way ofthinking for just a little bit
of time and I had this moment ofclarity driving where I just
thought this is just not evenworth wasting any time worrying

(08:36):
about.
I cannot control how somethingis being perceived.
I can't control any of that.
All I can do is show up asmyself and show up with my best,
and I just chose in the momentto let it go, to not even go
down that pathway of thinkingand go into any self-doubt,
anything that entertains a lackof confidence in myself or my

(09:00):
work, and that was reallystriking to me.
It was something that I kind oftook with me and thought I
really want to stay mindful formyself of when I am falling into
self-doubt or mental chatter oranything that undermines my
path.
At this time where I waste timequestioning myself or

(09:20):
questioning my journey orquestioning something about me
and it really doesn't matter.
It's just getting in the way ofme feeling empowered to keep
being myself and sharing mylight and doing me in the best
way that I know how in any givenmoment.
And so sometimes when we'reasking ourself is this worth my

(09:41):
time?
It could be something that'spulling at us from outside of us
.
It can also be an old story oran old value or something that
is pulling at us from within us.
So it doesn't matter, it cancome from different directions.
But when we recognize thatwe're giving our time, our
thought, our energy to somethingthat doesn't really feel like

(10:02):
it's supporting or serving us,then there's an opportunity
there for evaluation of howcould I redirect my focus at
this time.
And we're not rejectingwhatever it is that we decide is
a waste or just not worth it.
We're just reallocating andsaying this is just not the
direction I want to go at thistime and I'm just going to

(10:25):
reorient myself and refix myfocus.
The other question that theAkashic gave us is what are your
core values and the guidance toreconnect with those at this
time?
And I really like that as well, because I think when we're
trying to cut through the noiseof life and cut through the
sheer quantity of informationand events happening and the

(10:49):
massive amount of big energythat we might be feeling within
the collective or in our ownindividual communities and
perhaps families andrelationships, when we're trying
to cut through that and findourselves in the mix especially
if you run really empathic orvery energetically sensitive it

(11:12):
can be really hard to discernwhat's mine and what is just
energy right now.
What's noise?
What's me being pulled intosomething and so that idea of
what are your values andconnecting with those again and
then being able to just askyourself am I in alignment with
those right now?

(11:32):
And again, we're doing thiswith compassion.
This is not about judgment orshaming ourselves if we feel
like we're off track.
It's more of an invitation anda way to come back into our
center and perhaps we say well,my values are trying to be
peaceful, trying to practicegrace, trying to be more

(11:53):
self-loving.
There's so many differentthings that might fall under
that umbrella of core values andthere might be times that we're
focusing more on some corevalues than others in our life.
Like specifying our focus, ifyou're really practicing
self-love right now, then maybethat is the core value that you

(12:13):
check in with first.
And if you can say to yourselfyes, I think I'm in alignment
with that right now and I'mreally working hard on my path
right now to stay in self-loveand to give self-love for not
only myself, but perhaps so Ican better love the people
around me and give myself grace, give them grace then that's a
beautiful way to use that toaccomplish yourself right now

(12:38):
and stay centered as younavigate life.
So I really love thesequestions the Akasha gave us.
I think they're very edifying.
Really love these questions theAkashic gave us.
I think they're very edifying,they're really useful.
The other thing that I want tooffer and this is not from the
Akashic records, this is just aBethann idea but I want to give
a journaling prompt for thisweek that ties into this message

(13:00):
of cutting through the noiseand it's something that I
sometimes use in my ownjournaling time and I find it
really helpful.
And I will do three differentfocuses in my journal.
And the first one is this ideaof the top layer and what kinds
of things are cluttering up mymind.
And sometimes that's called abrain dump where you just free

(13:21):
write anything and everythingthat's in your mind.
But I will put out on a pieceof paper all the stuff right now
that feels like the pollutionin my mind, and it's not all a
pollutant.
I just think of it as thatenergetic smog that I try and
burn off so that I can reallyget more clear and clear my mind
out to connect.

(13:42):
So that's the first one.
It's just writing out whateverit is that's at the top of your
mind, without any judgment, without any need to fix, solve,
resolve, anything like that.
You're just clearing space.
And then the next layer islooking at things from more of a
practical lens, and that iswhat concerns do I have right

(14:02):
now?
Where might I need support?
What's on my to-do list?
This is more of the practicalstuff that goes beyond just
mental chatter and idle notionsand actually is what's
preoccupying my attention andlife at this time, and I find
this really useful.
I actually have quite a fewto-do lists in my journal that

(14:23):
are sandwiched in between oraclecard readings and prayers to
spirit and all of those things.
There might be a grocery list inthe middle of all of that, but
I do that practice because itreally helps me to identify what
needs to get done today, maybethis week, what is running
through my mind that I know Ineed to bring out into my

(14:44):
external life and take care ofthis.
I might, from just writing thatlist, have a couple steps that
I need to do.
I might write I need to getsome support on this.
It really helps me organize, not just the task of what's
happening in my life, but seewhat feels like something that
either I just need to get doneand punch it out or I actually

(15:06):
have more concern about, andthat kind of takes me into the
last layer and that is the heartof the matter, takes me into
the last layer and that is theheart of the matter, what's
really on my heart?
And so sometimes I mightidentify, just through those
practices, something that'sreally bothering me, and so
maybe that's what I want someguidance from in my spirit time.
Maybe it's something that hasto do with a desire to connect

(15:30):
with my heart more, somethinghaving to do with my spiritual
practice.
A lot of times that third layeris where I might do a tarot or
oracle card reading and I mightask questions about what's the
energy around me at this time, what's my best focus, best
guidance right now, what's themessage from the universe for me

(15:52):
today?
And that's a really good way totap into my soul, to get to the
heart of the matter, to tapinto my heart wisdom and to come
into my core values.
And it's really simple.
It doesn't require a lot to dothis.
It just requires taking alittle bit of time and carving
out that time so that I'm ableto take that space for

(16:14):
self-examination and reflection.
So the takeaway message fromthe Akashic for this week was
really about staying aware ofthe massive amount of things and
information and change that ispulling on us at this time and
choosing to engage withdiscernment and with good

(16:34):
judgment and just trying to staymindful and, when we realize
we've gotten wrapped up into it,taking that space so that we
can come back into our core andcome back into our center.
I also pulled a tarot card thisweek for a little bit of support
for the week.
I love this so much because Idid a really good shuffle in the

(16:54):
deck and just asked for a cardto support the message right now
and support the energy, and Igot the card the Hermit.
And the Hermit is a card aboutsolitude.
It's a card about seekingstillness and coming into
ourselves and coming into ourinner wisdom and seeking
enlightenment.
Enlightenment not necessarilybeing going up to a mountaintop

(17:16):
to meditate, to open up to thecosmic mysteries.
Enlightenment is just turningthe lights on in the rooms
inside of ourselves, inside ofour lives, that previously felt
dark, so we can examine what'sthere, and not being afraid of
bringing whatever is in theunconscious and bringing it into
the light, into ourconsciousness, so we can explore

(17:39):
it and develop awareness andgrow, transmute all those good
things that we do in our innerwork.
The tarot deck I'm using is theGood Tarot by Colette
Barron-Reed, and the message forthis card from the guidebook is
Hermit time out.
Sometimes it's necessary to taketime out for regrouping and

(18:02):
introspection.
This is a temporary experience, but one necessary for my growth
.
When I step back, retreat, regroup and renew, I have a
clear perspective on everythingin my life.
I want to close today with apassage from Small Pearl's Big
Wisdom.
This is called we Belong toLove.

(18:23):
Sometimes, walking our truth canbe a lonely road.
I've had many moments offeeling like a hungry ghost,
palms pressed against the glass, yearning for a seat at the
banquet table.
The tea party of authenticitymight be a juicy wild ride, but
it will require more of us.
It mostly requires us tocontinually tune out the chatter

(18:47):
and buzz in this world whichtells us who to be, how to be
and how to do things a certainway.
We will be asked to continuallyshed old ways of being and
leave behind old skins.
We will be asked to keep livingour authentic truth by taking
things back to a space ofourselves, to engage in solitude

(19:09):
, to create space for our higherselves and truths to come in,
to wade through the world'schatter, sifting the sands for
our gems of wisdom.
It can get lonely in thesolitude space, but please
remember above all else thateven in loneliness we belong to
ourselves, we belong to nature,we belong to our heart and we

(19:32):
belong to love.
You are not alone on thejourney and you can always keep
tapping into your heart's wisdom, which is endlessly available
to guide and direct us.
Please keep on doing you.
Be intentional about creatingspace.
Challenge external messages, open your mind's eye and examine

(19:52):
all things for truth.
Place your hand on your heartoften and ask yourself how do I
feel about this and what do Ineed to know for my highest
truth?
Invite your wiser self into themix and ask for deeper wisdom.
Live life from the inside out.
Create rose gardens in yourheart.
Plant seeds of authenticity inthe entirety of your being and

(20:17):
water them with your faith, fortitude and refusal to be
anyone other than yourself.
Allow yourself space to grow.
Place your hand on your heartand gratitude for all that
you're becoming and all thatyou've become.
Thank you so much for joining metoday on the podcast.
I will be back next week withan all new your Heart Magic.

(20:40):
It is an episode that's goingto come out right after Equinox,
so our topic will probably besome form of a celebration on
nature.
I love to use solstice and theequinoxes to talk about topics
related to balance and harmonyand living closer to nature, so

(21:01):

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
