Intro/Outro Music (00:13):
Aloha and
welcome to your Heart Magic, an
illuminating space wherepsychology, spirituality and
heart wisdom meet.
Here's your host, dr BethannKapansky-Wright.
Author, psychologist andspiritual educator.
Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wri (00:32):
Aloha
everybody.
This is Dr BethannKapansky-Wright.
Welcome to your Heart Magic.
I wanted to share a fewthoughts today on the concept of
anchoring into our hearts andthe importance of getting into
our hearts and using our heartsas a touchstone, building a well
of love inside of ourselves, away to connect with our voice,
(00:57):
within our truth, within ourheart magic in essence, and why
that is so meaningful to me andwhy I'm such a big believer in
it.
And it was interesting.
This is one of those weeks wherethe podcast almost couldn't
have been made if I had let lifecarry me along with its
currents, which are fast andplentiful.
(01:19):
This week, and I've often foundthat when we are going through
big changes in the world andwhen there's big cosmic energy
going on, the day this podcastcomes out is a couple days
before the full moon, onLionsgate, manifestation energy,
big moon energy and all of thisvery heightened stuff.
That is really an invitation tomanifest and dream and tap into
(01:41):
the cosmic consciousness, cosmic intelligence, to connect
(02:09):
with our intuition and to reallyget our spiritual groove on and
make the most of these bigenergies.
At the same time, in mypsychology practice and in my
personal life right now, I'mhearing a lot of transition
going on for people, a lot ofchange, a lot of upheaval.
(02:30):
I know for myself personally.
Last night I was doing my oraclecard reflection of the day.
This is something that I oftentry and do on a daily basis, and
sometimes what I'll do as oneof my practices is I will just
write out a list of questions ora list of things that I need
(02:50):
guidance on, so I might writewhat do I most need to know for
my highest good?
That's kind of the question, and then I will write down like
card one is going to be on thistopic, card two is for this
challenge, card three is forthis thing over here that I have
a question about, and theremight be three or four cards
(03:12):
where I just assign a differenttopic du jour to them of
something that's a challenge inmy life or a question mark or
something that I want wisdom on.
I'm asking the question what doI most need to know about this
for my highest good at this time?
And then my final card willalways be a message from spirit,
from the angels, the universe,however.
You might want to think aboutthat if you want to adopt that
(03:35):
into your own practice.
And last night was one of thosenights where I had like six
cards.
I had so much stuff and I wasdoing my cards and it was almost
midnight because it was thatkind of a day that it was that
long and there was just a lotgoing on and a lot to process,
and so I just had this moment ofrealization that it's so easy
(03:57):
to skip these practices and it'sso easy for life to happen and
for life to carry us along inits currents, as I said, and to
sweep us up.
It happens to all of us fromtime to time.
But I had that momentaryawareness that if I didn't
mindfully take that space anddrop into my heart and drop into
(04:19):
my spiritual connection and mypersonal inner garden, my
personal inner sanctuary I use alot of narratives that are
metaphorical to think of theworld within me and how my heart
is this portal that helpsconnect me to my deeper truth
and to my wellspring of truthand that also connects me to
(04:40):
universal truth and higherperspective and if I didn't take
time to get in touch with thatand to cut through the mental
chatter, everything happening onthe surface, and get into my
heart space, that it would bereally easy to mindlessly just
fall asleep and go through themotions of closing out the day
(05:03):
and start another day withouttaking that moment to unlayer
myself, to do some release work,to get some insight, and I was
really tired, but it was stillso helpful.
We don't always need a hugespace to get big benefits, and I
feel like that's a prettyimportant concept in our modern
day world, because sometimes weuse the excuse of not having
(05:26):
enough time to not do somethingor we feel like we don't have
enough, whatever it is, toadequately tap in, and I've
often found that a little bitgoes a long way.
If you have 10 minutes, take 10minutes.
If you have five, take five.
If you have two, take two.
(05:48):
We talked about last week howlittle steps, little action
steps, add up to somethingbigger.
So I'm a believer that do whatyou can, even if it's just a
tiny little thing, and you cantake more time later.
But for me last night it reallyhelped me reset myself and
remember that it's on me, theonus is on me If I want to cut
(06:11):
through the mental chatter, thesmog, if you will like, a layer
of smog over an atmospheresomewhere that is composed of
stress and my own worries aboutsome things in my life and
things coming up around mysphere.
And if I want to cut throughthat and come into a space of
(06:32):
peace and calm, I have to beintentional about that and I
have to carve it out and I haveto practice.
And when we practice and wefigure out some way that we tap
in and listen, it could besomething like put your hand on
your heart, take some deepbreaths and ask yourself how am
(06:52):
I doing today?
Sometimes with clients it'sI'll do guided meditation work
and I'll ask what color is yourheart today, after we've done
some breathing and checking inwith ourselves and then just
doing a what color is your hearttoday?
As a way to connect to thelanguage of the heart and to
engage our creative mind, ourintuitive, our imaginative mind,
(07:16):
and to start to tap into thatlanguage of metaphor and feeling
and resonance and trustingthose intuitive nudges that can
help create a pathway into ourinner world, our intuitive world
.
And the more we practice that, the more it becomes well-trod,
(07:37):
the more it is like a familiarpathway through the woods that
you step on and it just becomessomething that you instantly
start to anchor in because youwalk in the same space multiple
times a week, or if you've everlived somewhere where there's
not a trail and you have to makethe trail through the mud or
(07:57):
the snow or the grass after awhile.
To make the trail through themud or the snow or the grass
after a while it becomes morewell-worn and you know how to
follow that, and I think that isa wonderful metaphor for
tapping in and anchoring intoour hearts.
I think we create a set pointinside of ourselves of our heart
energy when we do that.
So like riding a bicycle orgoing through the motions, where
(08:23):
we do something repetitivelyand our body memorizes this
muscle memory of this is whatthis feels like to me.
I think our spiritual practices, our heart practices, any
practice that helps us drop into that inner space, helps us do
it more quickly each time wecue ourselves.
(08:44):
That this is what I'm going todo now.
Last night I was very tired lateat night doing this, but I
still got something out of itbecause it's well-practiced for
me and I know that my littleritual of putting a t-shirt over
my lamp to keep the lightreally dim my husband was
already asleep and that's mycompromise of can I have the
(09:07):
light on and still do my littleoracle thing in bed, but it will
be dim so you can sleep.
Once I do that and I open myjournal and I sit down in this
really quiet space and I startshuffling the cards and pulling
cards.
Those are my sensory cues, mybody cues, that I'm about to
take a moment and pause from mystream of just thinking about
(09:31):
things and come into my heartspace.
And so there's many, many wayswe can find that for ourselves.
There's many rituals, there'smany forms of coming into our
heart space.
There's not a right or wrong onhow to do it, there's just you
doing you and figuring out whatways do you tap in.
(09:51):
But I feel like it's so vital atthis time because with big
energy and big cosmic changesand big spiritual energy also
comes big changes in our life.
And sometimes big cosmic stuffdoesn't always look like dreamy,
juicy, magical, intuitivethings coming through.
Sometimes it looks like bigeruptions happening on the
(10:14):
surface, happening in ourcircumstances, big changes being
brought to us that we are askedto face with courage and to
stay awake through them, and sowe need that way to ground into
our heart so we can stay open tothe cosmic wonder and all of
that beautiful intuitive magic, and so we can stay grounded in
(10:37):
ourselves and grounded in ourwisdom and grounded in our inner
voice, which is, I think, whatis most valuable in helping us
navigate our lives that innercompass inside of us.
There might be wonderful thingsthat we read from many people
writing wise things on socialmedia platforms, and many of
(10:59):
them know what they're talkingabout.
At the same time, they can'ttell you what's in your heart
and they can't tell you whatmight hold true for you or what
you might need in a given moment.
It is more of an umbrella ofhere's some energies to be aware
of, here's some wisdoms tothink of.
But ultimately, you are yourtruth seeker and you are the one
(11:21):
who can compass yourself intoyour heart and listen to that
inner truth.
And so that's my exhortationfor you, for this podcast this
week is to be mindful of how doyou tap in, how do you come into
that compass inside of you, andto know that right now, with
these big magical energies goingon, if life doesn't feel so
(11:43):
magical, that's okay too.
With big spiritual energy alwayscomes big change on the earth.
It goes hand in hand.
You don't have one without theother and we can't always
control what change looks like.
It is both creativity and chaos, love and grief.
There's so many emotionshappening right now and so many
things going on, and it doesn'talways present itself in a way
(12:07):
that we would understand ismagical.
It does not mean that magic'snot there, so stay open to
whatever is coming through thisweek, even if it's really
challenging, even if you can'tsee the light in it yet, and
it's something hard.
Sometimes it takes us a whileto understand the magic of
something or to understand thegift that was there.
(12:29):
And I want to share a passagetoday from Small Pearls, big
Wisdom to finish up this podcast.
I'm smiling over here.
I don't know if you can hear itin my voice, but I chose this
passage it's called Lighthousesof Hope because when I was
thinking about what do I talkabout on the podcast today and I
thought, well, talk about thisexperience and how I really
(12:51):
easily could have skipped thisweek, but I didn't want to.
I really try and show up asmuch as I can in this space.
I think in the three years I'vebeen doing it, I've only taken
one week off and I am open tothose weeks that I just can't do
it and to give myselfpermission to take space and
have grace if I need it.
But I am a believer inconsistency and constancy and
(13:15):
right now, at this point in time, it still feels most right to
me in my heart to be consistentin this space and to show up
here and share something andknow that there are others out
there that I might not ever meetor talk to, but maybe you're
nodding along or it resonateswith you.
So thank you for being herewith me today and this
(13:37):
Lighthouses of Hope passage thatI want to share.
As I said, I'm smiling becauseI realize it's passage 333,
magical angel number there, lighthouses of Hope.
When I get discouraged about theworld, when I notice that
hopelessness and helplessnessare setting in, or empathy and
compassion fatigue begin tocreep in, or a news feed brings
(14:01):
more angry faces, words andevents that make my heart want
to give up and split, when I getlike this, I am reminded it is
time to lay it down, turn it off, let it go.
Breathe, look up, shift, shift.
My focus to all that is right, all that is joy and all that is
(14:25):
the distance I've come.
My repository of recollectionsand collections of good become
my lighthouses of hope in thehuge sweep of life's storm.
They light my way with words ofgrace Keep walking.
You haven't quit yet.
Don't start now.
Keep on with joy.
(14:45):
There is always joy to be found.
Cry when you need and laughlike you must, for laughter will
always be the true magneticcompass that leads you out of
the lost forest of despair.
Breathe, my dear one.
Breathe.
We are nothing without breath.
Stop looking to the world toset your tone.
(15:05):
You were never meant to bewell-adjusted to a maladjusted
system.
Instead, bring it back to theonly world you can control the
space inside your heart.
Be still, be you, be peace, bereal and let the energy of love
flow from there.
I was going to close with thattoday, but surprise bonus second
(15:30):
passage that I want to share Ihad it flash in my head to read
another one as well.
So I ran and grabbedRevelations of the Sky, and this
passage is called AugustBlessing, and I want to offer
this out to anybody today aswell who needs a little bit of
extra TLC in their life.
Passage 91, august Blessingfrom Revelations of the Sky.
(15:55):
Sometimes we have those weekswith a lot of twists and turns,
where worlds fall into theconvoluted cracks and our small
spaces of still pause andsilence become extremely golden.
That's life sometimes, isn't it?
Twisted and turned, with cracksin between, and we learn to
anchor ourselves in the pauses, cradle, our moments of solitude,
(16:19):
raindrops and grounding intowhatever feels and heals our
hearts as home.
We find ourselves again inthose spaces, tap into sacred
laughter and gentler ways ofbeing, allow our ego states to
fall away as we drop into deepertruths that bring us back to
the light within and allow us toreconnect and rekindle.
(16:43):
If you've had one of those weeks, then I wish you ease.
If you're feeling fatigued, then I wish you rest.
If you're feeling grieved, thenI wish your heart the comfort
of a thousand angel songs, andif you're in need of joy, then I
offer you this wisdom Go findsomething that makes you laugh,
(17:03):
because when we can find levityand the gravity, all the heavens
smile with us, be good to youand cherish your soul.
It holds the truth of who youare.
Thank you so much for joiningme on the podcast today.
I will be back next week withan all-new episode of your heart
magic on some topic related topsychology, spirituality,
(17:28):
creativity and heart, wisdom and, in the meantime, have a
beautiful week and, as always,be well, be loved, be you, be
loved, be you and be magic.
