Aloha and
welcome to your Heart Magic, an
illuminating space wherepsychology, spirituality and
heart wisdom meet.
Here's your host, dr BethannKapansky-Wright.
Author, psychologist andspiritual educator.
Dr. BethAnne Kapansky Wri (00:34):
Aloha
everybody, welcome to your
Heart Magic.
This is Dr BethannKapansky-Wright, and today we
are tapping into the Pisces newmoon.
We have a few new moon notesand we are also talking about
the idea of nurturing dreams andhow to nurture our dreams.
(00:55):
So this episode is inspired bythe Pisces new moon.
It's coming out this Thursdayon the new moon day and I was
thinking about that moon cycletoday as I sat down to put the
material together to share andit just felt so organic to tap
into the magic a little bit more, since we ride those new moon
(01:19):
waves up until the next mooncycle, so they will last through
the end of February into thebeginning of March.
It also sets the tone and isthe opening of eclipse season.
We'll talk more about that in amoment and I wanted to rock
that magic a little bit and justuse this episode to be very
(01:40):
Pisces new moon fluid, intuitive, imaginative and
interconnecting all sorts ofdifferent ideas.
So, first of all, this new moonhappening on the 27th is the
beginning of the eclipse seasonand the way that I often think
about eclipse seasons is there'snot an eclipse happening on
(02:03):
this new moon.
The lunar eclipse is on March14th, that's a full moon in
Virgo and then we have a partialsolar eclipse happening on
March 29th and that is in thesign of Aries, and then the
following full moon on April13th in Libra, is like the other
bookend.
(02:24):
So I always think about themoon cycle right before the
eclipses happen and the oneright after is being these two
bookends and these bookends holdthe two eclipses that will
happen in between and they arethe cover and like the back of a
book and then the story that'sgoing to unfold and the
(02:45):
different chapters and themesand transformative possibilities
that will be coming up are thearc of the story that will be
within those pages.
So this is a cosmic gateway ofsorts and I always love a Pisces
new moon.
Pisces is a very emotional sign.
It's a very sensitive sign.
(03:06):
Pisces ask us to tap into ourheart, to tap into our feelings,
to tap into our sensitivity, our empathy.
It asks us to be moreintuitively minded and consider
our creative self and our dreamsand work with feeling, our
(03:27):
interconnection with all things.
And it asks us to allow theboundaries to loosen a little
bit and some of the rigidboundaries that sometimes we put
in our mind and expand andimagine as a creative and, as a
writer, I always love any mooncycle that will ask me to tap
(03:48):
into some aspect of creativity, and Pisces is certainly a very
creative sign.
It's also the last sign in thezodiac calendar of the year, so
we start this new at leastzodiac astrological New Year
begins next month in Aries, andso there's an emphasis on
(04:09):
completions and endings at thistime.
I like to think of this wholestart of the new year almost
like a triple start.
We've got January 1st, whichhistorically many of us
recognize in the Gregoriancalendar, and we have a lot of
celebration around New Year'sDay and thinking about it's a
new calendar year.
(04:29):
We have a bright, new, shinynumber.
What will this be?
What will this mean?
And I usually think of Januaryas this slow moving month where
we have this like big burst ofenergy.
But oftentimes for me, januaryfeels like we are moving
underwater or like things kindof start and then stop, or we
have some false starts.
(04:50):
We're test piloting some thingsand trying it out.
And then comes the lunar newyear and I'm like, okay, that's
like second new year.
We sound like hobbits here.
Right, we got first new yearand second new year and third
new year and in second new year.
We have this opportunitywhenever the lunar new year is,
which is right at the end ofJanuary, beginning of February,
(05:12):
usually, depending on when thenew moon falls and it's this
chance to integrate the lessonsof January and think about, like
now that we are into the firstmonth of 2025 and we've kind of
tested some stuff out and we'regetting a feel for the themes
coming up this year and wherewe're at and where we're at on
our journey.
(05:33):
Now here's an opportunity tocement those a little bit more
around the new moon and to lookat how to align our intentions
and to recalibrate and stepdeeper into alignment and deeper
into our authenticity.
And then we get to have the newyear that starts with the
(05:55):
astrological new year and thatwon't be until March 20.
So we have a little bit moretime.
But this Pisces new moon kindof marks this last stretch of
time before we go into theastrological new year and it's
definitely an invitation, especially as we start to go
into eclipse season, to reallylook at what themes have been
(06:17):
coming up for us, whattransformative possibilities
have been happening for us, howhave we been guided to
creatively redirect our thoughts, redirect our attention.
How might we be understandingourselves in a new way based on
the new material and informationthat's emerged over the past
(06:39):
couple months?
How might that impact what ourhopes and our wishes and our
dreams are, and how we aremoving our energy at this time,
how we are feeling called toshine our light?
So it's just an opportunity todive into those things even
deeper and to take a moment andenergetically dust yourself off
(07:01):
this new moon.
Do something that symbolizesthe energy of an ending and a
beginning, something that isabout setting intentions or
nurturing a vision or thinkingabout what you're envisioning in
your life right now.
It might just be an opportunityto get in touch with nature or
(07:22):
your spiritual connection oryour intuition, and be a little
bit more mindful and think aboutsome of the qualities and
energies that are associatedright now with the cosmic cycles
going on, and how do they applyto you, what sense do they make
in your life?
What keywords might light youup?
(07:43):
What associations might youhave with some of the things
that we're talking about today?
What intrigues you?
What is calling you forth?
What might you feel curiousabout or like you want to
reinvent?
We don't have to have awell-formed picture, to be drawn
to something and have areaction towards it, a feeling
(08:03):
towards it, a resonance towardsit.
So whatever feels most relevantto you, go with that right,
because that's what Pisces isall about.
It reminds us that we're allinterconnected and our unique
individuality is part of thewhole and we become part of the
whole and we celebrate thatinterconnection through being
(08:26):
our unique, creative self, through trusting our intuition,
through following the wisdom inour heart and through bringing
our energy and our contributionthrough at this time.
So I want to share a passagetoday to speak a little bit more
about the matter of dreams.
This is called Bigger Dreams.
(08:46):
It's a short passage from mybook Small Pearls, big Wisdom,
and this is passage number 40.
If you don't dare to dream, nothing will ever change,
including you Maybe.
Even if we aren't always in aplace in life that allows us to
pursue our change immediately,it's still worth it to envision
(09:09):
the dream.
Because what if it's the dreamitself that begins to change us?
What if it's planting the seedof the dream and allowing it to
take root inside us that helpsus consider a bigger possibility
of self?
What if imagining a biggerscope for our lives opens our
hearts to a more expanded visionof who we could be.
(09:32):
What if the manifestation ofthe dream is less important than
taking the risk of opening toits genesis?
Maybe the genesis is exactlywhat we need to stand a little
taller, walk a little braver andbelieve in ourselves a little
bit harder so we find thecourage we need to move forward
(09:54):
in our lives with faith, fortitude and love.
Whether or not our dreamsmanifest in the form of our
initial vision, dreaming allowsus to see wider, reach higher
and believe we are worthy ofmore.
Over time, our hopes andbeliefs begin to add up,
creating the path needed to livewith conviction and dare to
(10:18):
dream even bigger dreams, biggerdreams.
Something that I love about thispassage is the idea that it's
the act of dreaming itself, theact of being a dreamer, of
daring to expand and considerhigher possibilities for life,
that helps us grow into who weneed to be to actualize a dream.
(10:44):
That the act of dreaming, thegenesis of a dream, that sitting
down and brainstorming abouteverything from the tiny little
dreams that we might have to thebig grand visions that we have,
like just that right there, opens us up to a greater
possibility of self.
And what if that greaterpossibility begins to change us?
(11:06):
What if it takes root?
What if it starts to grow in usin a way that opens us up and
opens up our energy and opens upour hearts and makes us feel a
little bit more expanded, alittle bit more hope driven, a
little bit more motivated byself-belief and believing that
bigger things are possible?
(11:28):
And how might we change?
How might we choose to expressourselves differently, to carry
ourselves differently, to moveour energy differently, if we
were coming at it from just thegenesis of a dream and embodying
that genesis and reallystepping into something for me
(11:48):
is greater and bigger, and Ibelieve it, and I've got some
ideas right now on what thatmight look like.
But I'm a little less attachedto that exactitude of what it
has to be and I'm just moreintrigued by the idea right now
that I am a creature of infinitepossibilities and I am able to
dream my life into being and tokeep creating new dreams and
(12:13):
keep creating and expanding andgrowing, no matter where I find
myself.
Like what if that changes us?
And when I think we start tooperate from a different
paradigm, a more expanded viewof what might be possible in our
lives?
It gives us more courage, ithelps us find the fortitude to
(12:35):
take a risk or do something thatfeels brave.
Things that once feltimpossible all of a sudden feel
a little bit more doable.
We might find what we need totake that first step and to
attract something into us thatmatches the vibration or the
frequency of that dream.
And it might not come in at allin the form that we thought it
(12:56):
would.
It could look entirely different, but something else that I
believe about dreams is thatthey are fluid, they are
malleable, they oftentimes takeon a different form than what we
initially envisioned, but theessence is still the same, and
so, in that fluidity, we mightstart putting out there to the
(13:19):
universe this is my vision, thisis my dream, and we create a
new core vision inside ofourselves that we begin to
believe in, we begin to believein a bigger possibility, and
that shifts our energy and thatshifts what we might be open to
and thus what we might be opento receiving, what we might
(13:41):
attract and magnetize into us.
And I think that it says to theuniverse I want to attract into
me something that's on thisfrequency, and right now the
version I have of my dream isthe best I know to come up with,
because I only know what I know.
Maybe you know something better.
So I am open to anotherpossibility that matches this,
(14:04):
even if it's not exactly what Ithought it was going to be, and
I'm actually open to somethingeven better.
Maybe the universe and all ofits vast divine intelligence
knows a few things that we don'tknow in our limited thinking
and our limited information andview of how we might think of
(14:25):
the world, and so maybe thatvast intelligence has a way of
alchemizing and bringingsomething together that creates
the path that we were hoping tocreate all along, and we
couldn't have envisioned itbecause it hadn't been created
yet.
It was waiting for us to openup to it and to expand and to
say I'm going to follow thisthing inside of me that's
(14:46):
calling forth this dream, and sosometimes we have a very firm
step that we take with the dreamand we maybe say I want to be a
writer, I want to write, orsomething like that.
Creativity is always an easy oneto use as an example.
I want to be an artist, I wantto do more with my art, and so
maybe that first step is well,do you have a writing practice?
(15:07):
Do you have an art practice?
Are you doing something?
And if the answer's no to that,a great first step for a dream
would be okay.
Well, just start there.
Just start with embodying theenergy of I am a writer and find
a writing practice, even nomatter what it is, make it fun,
but something where you'rewriting either every single day
or a few times a week, or you'redoing a writing prompt a few
(15:31):
times a week, something thathelps you start to embody that
energy.
And as you get used to that, then the next step is going to
open from there.
That's usually how it works.
We have these bits and pieces ofwhat a dream is and as we step
into that energy and learn toembody it, that next part of the
path begins to unfold.
(15:51):
So I think this Pisces, newmoon and Pisces season in
general, and then as we moveinto next month and eclipses and
Aries season and the beginningof the astrological new year,
it's like a ripe time right nowto dream and to engage in the
act of envisioning and to allowourselves to let go of a
(16:14):
specific form.
If we're not sure what that is,we can always look at the
energies and qualities that wewant to cultivate in our lives
and to begin to nurture theseeds of those dreams.
And we nurture them throughspending time with them.
We nurture them through sittingdown in our journal or spending
some time in contemplation andjust identifying.
(16:37):
How am I investing in my dreamsright now?
How am I cultivating andcurating my dreams right now?
What does that mean for me?
What's a simple, practical stepthat I can take.
And I like to playfully envisionfor myself that I've got this
like big magical cauldron goingon, is constantly brewing
(16:58):
something and kind of bubblingaway and I add these different
ingredients that help alchemizeand help create whatever I want
to envision from my cauldron ofmagic and dreaming.
I like to think that I'mputting in well.
I want more joy in my life.
Right, that's part of my dream.
That can be a dream.
(17:19):
I want to create joy.
I want to craft more joy.
I want to have moreopportunities for joy For myself
.
I am a writer.
I definitely have ideas aroundhow I might continue to build
that.
So I'm going to dump some stuffin around that and sprinkle in
some creativity and maybe evenlook at some ideas on how I
(17:41):
might want to manifest mywriting in specific form, since
that kind of fits where I'm aton my path at this time I'd like
more peace fits where I'm at onmy path at this time I'd like
more peace.
That's one of my dreams rightnow is learning to keep finding
more opportunities for innerpeace in my life.
I have a lot of big thingsgoing on and I think for many of
(18:02):
us, we have a lot going onright now.
There's a lot going on in ourworld.
I definitely look at wherewe're at right now and think, as
human beings, we signed up tobe here at this point in time on
our soul journey, so we are inthe right place at the right
time, no matter what it feelslike.
And for myself, I've reallybeen working on radical
(18:24):
acceptance and surrender and notwaiting for anything to shift
or get better, but just beingable to look at life right now
and say like this is life, mypersonal circumstances, some of
the bigger things that we're allumbrellaed under happening in
our world.
This is just life.
It is this and that andeverything in between.
(18:47):
And how can I find peace inthat flow?
How can I keep learning to be apeace dreamer and to dream
about peace for myself andcultivate more peace in my life.
So I'm going to, of course, want to sprinkle some of that
into my dream cauldron.
So when we talk about the matterof dreams, it's important to
remember that it's the act ofdreaming that is so invaluable
(19:09):
and a beautiful focus.
Right now, you do not have toworry about the manifestation
stage.
Just engage in some fun dreamwork.
Right now, our dreams are fluidand they're allowed to be
malleable and they're allowed toshapeshift and transform as we
change.
And we are allowed to have anon-specific dream where it
(19:32):
doesn't necessarily have a formattached to it, but we just know
there's something more that wewant to cultivate, or we're
intrigued by intuition.
We would love to live moreintuitively.
Maybe we don't even know whatthat means or what that means
for us, but that becomessomething that we're dreaming
for ourselves.
I want to see myself as moreintuitive and feel more in touch
(19:53):
with my intuition.
I want to learn about astrologyand feel more knowledgeable
about that and feel like I canbetter engage with some of these
cosmic cycles and use that aspart of my intuitive knowing.
There are so many ways that adream can take form, so I
encourage everybody to beexpansive, to be generous and
(20:14):
playful in how you think aboutyour dreams, and I personally
feel right now, the lesspressure the better.
That it's not about puttingpressure on ourselves with
anything.
It's more about empoweringourselves to live with more joy
and beauty and play and truthand fun and creativity and keep
(20:35):
crafting the life that we desirewithin the ups and downs and
ebbs and flows of the greaterriver of life.
So happy new moon and Pisces toeverybody.
I will be back next week with anew episode of your heart magic
, where we will be talking aboutsomething related to psychology
(20:57):
, spirituality, creativity andstorytelling and in the meantime
, have a beautiful week and, asalways, be well, be love, be you
and be magic.
Intro/Outro Music (21:26):
Be love, be
you and be magic.
