Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello friends,
welcome to your Motivational Gen
Z and Millennial Expert Podcast.
I am your host, dr JasonWiggins.
It is fantastic to be here.
Thank you very much for joiningus today, and we have got a
great episode our 165th episodeand I am here to share some
(00:21):
great information that will helpus pursue our life interests
and really make a mark on whatwe want to do, moving forward.
Therefore, today we are goingto talk about having a plan.
This podcast is for those whowant to be motivated, who are
(00:42):
Gen Z and millennials and anyone of us that have that
inspiration to just be a littlebit better.
Life is hard We've discussedthat before but this motivation
podcast is here to help usachieve our success.
Now, listening to somebody isjust not going to be the one and
(01:02):
only thing that helps yousucceed in life.
I get that, but the key focuswe're going to talk about today
is number one having a plan.
Number two you have to bedisciplined for your pursuit.
So if you're undisciplined forthe pursuit of what you want to
(01:24):
make happen in your life, thatmakes us desperate.
That makes us desperate andgrasping for things that we want
but we can't reach becausewe're not disciplined in what we
want to achieve.
And the third part of today'sconversation we're going to talk
about being an agent ofself-change and then we're going
(01:48):
to talk about the steps, abouthow we can make sure that we are
disciplined for that pursuit ofwhat we want and how we can
create the path of change in ourlife.
So today is an action-packedpodcast that's really going to
focus on what we can do to bebetter.
(02:11):
It's a new year, it's a new you, and if you haven't achieved or
even started what we call NewYear's resolutions, that is
absolutely okay, because theonly success that we're going to
have is by starting from dayone.
(02:32):
So if you've tried, you failed, you tried again, you failed.
Well, guess what?
You keep trying until yousucceed, all right.
So number one is having a plan.
It sounds simple Write it down, write what you want to achieve
down and then write how you'regoing to focus on achieving that
(02:56):
plan.
Look for ways or scenarios thatare going to be obstacles to
achieving your plan and thenlook at the resources that you
have to have to achieve the plan.
And if you don't see any ofthose that you currently have,
(03:16):
then we got to find ways tocreate that ability to achieve
the resources to achieveeverything that you want within
your plan.
But the key thing about theplan, about achieving the plan,
(03:40):
is not being undisciplined forthe pursuit.
You have to buy in to what youwant to achieve.
Now, what is success andachievement?
Of course it's about the endresult.
But the result, the end result, for that matter, is about the
pursuit of how you're going toget there, and that's where the
plan, that's where beingdisciplined and it's going to
(04:04):
really impact your ability to besuccessful.
Creating that path of beingdisciplined and pursuing and
achieving your plan now wetalked about desperation makes
us do things that we don't wantto do.
That can be in business, thatcan be in our personal life,
(04:26):
that can be in any range ofmotion about everyday
circumstances.
We already have a lot ofcraziness in the world.
Wherever you look, there iscraziness.
Why?
Because in a lot of cases, people don't have a plan, people
(04:50):
don't have the discipline.
And how do you get that?
It's not always plain andsimple, but when you look in the
mirror and you say I'm sick andtired of being sick and tired,
that is when you start deciding.
(05:13):
These are the changes that Iwant to make in my life.
These are the resources and thetools that are going to help me
get me there.
Remember, the one thing in lifethat we have control of is what
we have control of, and I knowwhat does that mean.
(05:35):
It means we can have thebiggest impact in our own life,
and that is why beingdisciplined, having a plan, are
going to help set each and everyone of us up for success.
We're millennials, we're Gen ZIn my case, I'm a Generation X.
(05:57):
We're baby boomers.
Whatever you may be, as youlisten to this podcast, all
around the world, it is aboutbeing true to yourself and being
disciplined for the pursuit.
And, for example, let's picksomething what are you not happy
about?
(06:17):
Maybe you just don't have theability to be happy.
Maybe you have negativethoughts that always run through
your head.
It's about I can't achieve this.
I can't achieve that.
I want to be happy.
Well, we have to remove thebarriers that are keeping us
(06:38):
from being happy.
Happiness is about a perceptionof what you want to be like.
If you look at people and yousay, oh, I believe they're happy
.
Maybe you think they're happy,but they're not.
They may be absolutelymiserable, because the
(07:01):
perception they demonstrateshows they're happy, but the
result, the actions, the innerfeelings that they may have,
they may not be happy.
So you want pure, realhappiness.
So how you do that?
Well, you have to decide what'sgoing to make you happy, what
(07:25):
is the path to get the happiness, how are you going to be
disciplined for the pursuit ofthat happiness?
And then the key thing, the lastand final key thing and we're
going to talk about this alittle more in depth it's about
self-change management, being anagent of change, and you'll see
(07:49):
businesses have changemanagement, they'll have this
whole gamut of the ability ofthem to achieve agent of change
within their departments, withintheir company, focusing on
profits, revenue, decreasingexpenses.
These are all things thatimpact a business, from the
(08:10):
board of directors to the owners, to the employees, to the
overall facilities, whatever itmay be.
That's the big focus aboutchange.
Management is, from a lot oftimes, top down management to
the line level, employees.
Well, guess what?
As a self-agent of change, youare trying to break down those
(08:34):
building blocks and rebuild towhat you want to do, what you
want to do, what you want toachieve and what's going to,
overall, make you successful inyour eyes and how, maybe, you
align your skills, your thoughts, your ability to achieve, with
(08:55):
what the perception of othersthink about you.
Remember, though I've talkedabout in previous episodes, it
is not about what people thinkabout you.
Remember, though I've talkedabout in previous episodes, it
is not about what people thinkabout you, it's not about their
perception of you.
It's about how each and everyone of us feel about ourselves.
We had that ability to ensurethat, with the plan, by being
(09:22):
disciplined and being an agentof self-change, we can make all
the impacts that we want.
So today we've talked abouthaving a plan.
Make sure you write it down, you focus on it, you have the
available resources and you moveforward with that plan.
But then you want to make surethat you are disciplined for the
(09:44):
pursuit of the plan and notbeing desperate to grab onto
certain things that will helpyou.
For example, let's say you wantto lose weight, you want to
diet, you want to.
The end result is to lose xamount of pounds.
Well, the desperation part ofthat is trying some fad diet
that will maybe help you loseweight, but at the end result
(10:08):
will likely be you gain moreweight than you actually lost.
And that happens all the time, because you try these self-fad
diets and the end result isfailure.
But if you find a system whereyou eat right, you exercise, you
(10:28):
follow a disciplined plan, youhave a more likelihood for
success.
And that's just one example ofthe ability to realize the
impact you can make.
And that starts with being anagent of self-change.
(10:50):
So, first, what we're going todo as a self-change is we're
going to embrace the resistance.
That.
What does that mean?
Necessarily, step one of beingan agent of self-change.
It's about embracing theresistance.
It's about understanding thatsometimes we're weak.
Sometimes we think we know whatto do but we realize what we're
(11:15):
doing is not right now working.
It hasn't worked before.
What is the definition ofinsanity?
The definition of insanity isdoing things over and over with
the expectation that you'll getdifferent results.
Different results happen whenyou change the course of your
(11:36):
actions.
So embrace the ability that Iam weak, I need help.
I'm going to find ways to getthe help, get the resources.
That's going to help me achievemy plan with my discipline
through the agent of self-change.
Then, once you realize you havethe help, you have the
(12:06):
resources you want to create avision, create the end result of
what you think your expectationof the results will be meaning.
If you want to be a great chef,it vision yourself at the end
result of making a great dinner, utilizing all the different
(12:27):
herbs, spices, how you cook andsaying that's the vision that I
want to see myself creating as awonderful plate.
That's just one example.
Anything in life, it's thepursuit of happiness.
See the result of you smiling, laughing, being somebody that
(12:52):
people want to be around.
That vision is going to helpyou get there.
Envision the end result andthat will drive you to keep
pushing forward.
We talked about the diets.
Okay, what's the vision of yousee yourself?
You see yourself being 20pounds lighter.
(13:13):
You see yourself workingtowards a physical well-being,
being in good health, being, uh,looking good, whatever it may
be.
Look at that and be realisticabout the results you want to
achieve, but then keeping thoseresults.
So that's visioning.
And then you have to get thebuy-in from yourself.
(13:34):
You have to say, okay, I seethe vision.
I understand that I had tobreak down the resistance.
Now it's about me determiningcan I do this?
Will I do this?
Will I fail?
Am I going to overcomepotential failure?
If I do fail, how am I going toget back to achieving those
(13:57):
results, and that's where youget the buy-in.
And now here's a reallyimportant part it's when you
have those small wins.
Number four it's about creatinga track record and building
momentum.
Building momentum is gettingthose small wins and realizing
(14:18):
that, hey, I achieved this Again.
Let's go back to losing weight.
I achieved, I lost five pounds.
I did it the right way.
I continue working out, Icontinue to exercise, I continue
to eat better.
And then I did that byunderstanding that what I was
doing before wasn't working.
And then I created that visionof how I was going to align what
(14:41):
I wanted to do with theresources I have available to do
it.
And then I worked to get thebuy-in from myself, to realize I
have the ability to achieve.
I just need to gain thatmomentum, build that momentum
and create a positive trackrecord of success.
(15:02):
And that is number four.
And then number five is makethe change normal.
That means, once you've madethe change, then continue to
work forward.
You may digress a little bit,but keep the track record to
ensure that you are able to notonly achieve the success but
(15:26):
sustain the success in anythingyou do.
The purpose of change managementis to be able to implement
those changes in your life, andthat will be for creating
effective change.
And then we control that changethrough being a self-agent of
(15:46):
our change.
We talked about the onset today, about number one, having a
plan.
Number two, being disciplinedfor that pursuit and not making
desperate moves like desperationmakes us do sometimes.
And then being a change, aself-change agent.
(16:11):
And then we talked about thefive steps of being a change
agent.
Number one was embraceresistance.
Number Number two was co wascreating that vision.
And then three was getting thebuy-in.
And then four was buildingmomentum, that creating that
overall track record.
(16:32):
And five was making changenormal.
If you're listening to thispodcast, then you have the
momentum already.
You have the desire to wantsuccess.
You have the desire todemonstrate the willingness to
(16:53):
succeed.
So I want to implore everybodythat's listening to this podcast
that you can do it.
If you failed 10 times, maybeyou'll fail five more times, but
maybe you'll succeed on yoursixth time.
Just don't stop.

(17:15):
you're going to do and keep thecourse.
