So I spent 23 years in the AirForce, retired as a lieutenant
colonel just a few years ago.
I always say I just retired andit was literally two and a half
years ago.
I'm like, really, has it beenthat long?
Really has it been that long?
But just followed my callingthat I've had forever and it was
just finally time to follow mycalling into executive coaching,

We do so.
Tina, someone who's journeyedfrom military leadership to
executive roles, how isuncovering a clear, compelling
vision, and that's what we'regoing to really talk about today

Well, you know, as we talk about vision, a lot of
times people who are notfamiliar with why that's so
important.
They might go okay, what I'mgoing to picture, something and
a million dollars is going tofall out of the sky because I
pictured it Right.
I wish, I really wish, let'stry it for a minute.
Yeah, let's bottle that up in alittle capsule and sell that,

(04:01):
because that would be amazing,but that's not the way it works.
But what does happen is when wecan fully immerse ourselves in
the vision of what we want.
Right, it's so easy for us toget stuck in yeah, but this is
happening.
And yeah, but here's where I amright now.
Right, that just keeps youstuck where you are and that's
really not what we're lookingfor.
But when we can fully immerseourselves in the vision of what

(04:24):
does it look like, when it'sworking well, when I've reached
where I want to be, what doesthat feel like?
What does it sound like?
What does it look like?
What am I experiencing?
Your body actually starts tocreate memories.
It doesn't know that it hasn'thappened, right?
And this is such an incrediblediscovery that I found.
Going through neuroencoding andgoing through transformational

(04:47):
mindset is like there's beenstudies from neuroscientists who
have actually monitored yourbrain for people who actually
played the piano and those whojust sat there with their hands
still imagining that they were,and the parts of your brain that
move your fingers.

(05:07):
They lit up in both instancesright.
So your brain recognizes whenyou're imagining something as it
already happened.
So that's the way it works andwhy it's so powerful to really
envision it.

Speaker 2 (05:21):
And I think that, literally, when you really stop
and think about it when Ilearned about it as well, it was
like what?
Yeah, now I'm sure you do thesame thing.
I mean, I use it all the time,even with exercises that I teach
my clients Of course, I domyself and I literally just
smiling.
I will just imagine myselfsmiling and you feel the, the

(05:43):
hormones and things changing inyour body and lightening your
mood and putting you in a betterstate of mind, or a better
mindset, if you will.
So it's absolutelymind-boggling and it's such one
I'm going to say it's one of thebest skills that someone can
learn absolutely.

Speaker 3 (06:01):
And you think of.
You think of athletes, right,professional athletes they
always talk about.
I envision getting to the goal,I envision landing the turn,
like whatever it is that you'redoing, because your body gets
used to that being real andbeing true, right, and it's just
like in military.
We say we train how we, well,we fight how we train.

(06:22):
Right, we train over and overso that our body has some muscle
repetition when the time comes.
Well, it's the same thing withenvisioning, but what's really
powerful about the envisioningis that it does release those
chemicals.
Like you said, when I start tothink about being happy and
smiling and feeling joyful, yourbrain goes oh, oh, okay, we are

(06:45):
, and it starts to drip thechemicals that then create the
physiological responses that goalong with that vision.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
Yeah, it's really a fantastic thing again to learn,
and let me just warn you, itdoesn't happen necessarily the
first time.
It's like when you go to thegym you don't come out looking
like Arnold Schwarzenegger afterone rep or one set or one day,
whatever the I know right, maybe, if we envision it, I'll sit
here and picture my musclesexpanding.

Speaker 3 (07:17):
We might try.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
I'm just saying so.
You know, it's a skill that you, you work at and you build.
So just just keep that in mind.
But and I should say it willhappen.
So, just like meditation or anyof those things, the more you
do them, the more, the easierthey get.
I almost said the more easierthe more easier they get the

(07:41):
other easier, they do get so canyou tell this is live everybody

So, with that said, why don'twe talk about a little bit why
it's so important to create thatvision in your head so you can

(08:02):
visualize and work towards thosegoals?

Speaker 3 (08:05):
Yeah.
So here's the other thing thathappens and you just alluded to
it too is that when we have avision of what we want, your
brain starts to go okay, that'swhat we're looking for, right,
because think about how manypieces of data we're bombarded
with every single day likebillions.
So our brain is filtering outthings that it doesn't think is
relevant for us, and so, butwhen we really envision, hey, I

(08:29):
want to create this business,and here's what I want it to
look like, and here's the,here's the purpose behind it,
and here's the mission that Iwant to bring into the world,
and you really immerse yourselfin that, your brain actually
says, oh, thanks, now I knowwhat to start looking for.
And when opportunities come infront of you which they're in
front of you right now we'rejust filtering them out and

(08:50):
we're not seeing them becausethey're not in our awareness.
But when we create that vision,that's now in our awareness,
and so opportunities that arealigned with helping you move
forward in that direction, youstart to notice them, right, and
it's called our reticularactivating system.
It's just a part of the brainthat starts to notice things

(09:11):
that become in your awareness,like we just bought a new truck
and it's this crazy bright bluecolor, right, and I was like, oh
, I'm going to be able to findthat in the parking lot all day
long, because nobody has a carthat color.
But as soon as we drove it home, there's like 10 other trucks
the same.
I'm like, oh, I'm a trendsetter.

(09:34):
No, they've been there thewhole time, right, but I didn't
really notice it because I'm notpaying attention to that.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
Yeah, and it's, first of all, you are a translator,
don't kid yourself.
But it is absolutely insanewhen you are focused on
something and people try this.
Okay, Just so you have theproof in your own mind.
Literally try it.
Pick out a car color, pick outyour car color or your car, not

(10:02):
if it's like a Prius orsomething.
It's everywhere or whatever thecase may be, but pick out
something that's a littleunusual and then focus on it and
, just like Tina said, Iguarantee it, when I bought the
Mustang with the ruby red color,it's like oh, this is cool.
I've not seen this, it'severywhere, it's on the Ford
Raptors now.

Speaker 3 (10:21):
You're like, wow, I was ahead of my time.

Speaker 2 (10:25):
I was.

Speaker 3 (10:26):
I was Look what we started Exactly Well, and it
works for other things too,because there's a big even in my
business, right?
I've always known that I didn'twant to create this business by
myself.
I really wanted there to be acoalition of people coming
together to further this mission.
And I didn't know what furtherthis mission and I didn't know
what that looked like.

(10:46):
And it's not like I sat downand said that person for this
and that person for that, like Ididn't know.
But I held this vision of acoalition coming together and,
sure enough, in the past year totwo years, people have come in
and gone hey, can I help youwith this?
Hey, I really noticed that thiscould be something I can bring

(11:06):
my gifts to.
Are you cool if we collaborate?
And it's just.
It's like, yes, that is what Iwanted, right.
But it also it changes yourenergy, because when you're
really sure about what thisvision is and you're holding it,
you don't have to know the how.
You'll start to recognize theopportunities, your energy will
open and be different and peoplewill start to come in and help

(11:29):
you create what it is that youwant.
So it also helps us to not haveto do things alone.

Speaker 2 (11:35):
Yeah, absolutely.
And if you look back and Ithink everybody can do this, I
know I can, for sure and youobviously can when you look back
at the things that you werefocused on or the things that
you were like oh man, it'd begreat to live and live out there
or live here, or it'd be greatto do this or do that or
accomplish this.

(11:55):
And when you're focused on andthat's why vision boards
actually work is because you'rejust seeing it and you're being
reminded.
But when you throw passion andemotion into it, look out,
because that's when thingsreally start happening, like
when, I get focused on something, it's, there's nothing else
that matters.
I mean, I shouldn't say that,but you know what I mean?

(12:16):
Very, very tunnel vision, veryfocused on that.
And when you send that energyand again that emotion towards
something, it's amazing, as yousaid, how the energy and
everything just opens up and ithappens.

Speaker 3 (12:32):
Well, and Joseph talks about this too, right?
Joseph McClendon, the founderof the Neuroencoding Institute,
where we connected through ourcertification.
You know he talks about whenyou walk into a room, your
energy walks in before you do so.
When you see these people who,when they walk in the room,
heads turn and they go oh mygosh, who is that?

(12:54):
Right, it's not because they'rewearing some flashy outfit or
something Sometimes.
Sometimes you're like what isthat?
And that's okay.
But for so many of them, it'sthis mag, magnetic energy that
they have about them thatprecedes their physical being

(13:14):
coming into the room.
And you know anybody who studiesenergy and can understand you
know two, two batteries, whenthey either connect or they
repulse each other, depending onthe ends that are together.
That's the same thing, right?
And so, yeah, really havingthat vision of who do I want to
be in this world, what do I wantto create, how do I want to

(13:36):
live my life, what do I want mylife to feel like and how do I
want to experience things.
We really get to live that outin our minds first, before it
happens, because most of us areliving out the things we don't
want in our minds, right?
So it works the opposite too,like how many times have you
gone through a terriblesituation that never actually

(14:00):
happened before, but you wentthrough it in your mind, right,
you envisioned it, you saw it,you felt it.
You felt the physiologicalresponses because your brain
started releasing chemicals forthat.
Yeah, and so it works both waysand you get to choose.
Which way do you want it towork for you?

Speaker 2 (14:18):
Absolutely Love, love the choice.
You know, and the funny thing ismost people not funny, but most
people don't really think aboutit as a choice.
They're just in it.
They're in what I call a spincycle, you know, and they just
are in it and they get in deepenough where they don't see the
other options, you know, orchoices.
I should say, let's tie thistogether.

(14:39):
So.
So, tina, let's let's kind ofdive into.
You know you have a vision.
So, tina, let's kind of diveinto.
You know you have a vision.
You see, hey, I want to be on.
I'm just using something random.
I want to be on stage speakingin front of 20,000 people.
Okay, 2,000 people, whatever,it is All right, let's go for 20
, man 22, whatever, whatever itis.

(15:00):
So you have kind of, you have avision and you really want to do
this.
So where do you start?

Speaker 3 (15:15):
Yeah, you imagine it happening and you imagine how
you feel after it's gone.
Well, right, so much of thetime we're like I'm imagining
how I'm going to find thisopportunity, I'm imagining how
it's going to get there.
No, we get stuck in the howhole, right?
We're just like you said you'rein your spin cycle and I'm in
the how hole and I can't get out.
So it's like I fall in and Ican't get up.

Speaker 2 (15:29):
I love that.
I'm still stealing that, myfriend.

Speaker 3 (15:34):
I think every time we talk, one of us comes up with
something we're like, ooh, ooh,I like it.
But no, we get stuck in the howhole and we're like, well, I
don't know how I would make thathappen, so nevermind, it's just
, it's too big for me, or I'mnot ready for that, or it's
that's for other people, not me,right.

(15:56):
So we tell ourselves thesethings, but when we can
literally just imagine afterit's done, right, you're
standing on that stage, you'reimagining the effect that you've
had on people.
You're seeing in your mind'seye their faces going oh man,
like something landed for me andthis is going to change for me.
And you are imagining andenvisioning and feeling the

(16:16):
physiological reaction of wow, Idid that and that's amazing,
how incredible.
That is how we start.
We work our way backwards fromwhat it is that we want to be
experiencing, and then we willstart to recognize opportunities
to do better in speaking right,to strengthen our speaking.

(16:36):
We'll start to recognizeopportunities to get on those
stages.
We'll start to recognize peoplewho are in those environments
that can help us.
But if you shut it down or getstuck in the how hole, then all
bets are off and it's reallyhard.

Speaker 2 (16:53):
You got to stop saying it.
I can't focus.
I know I'm sorry.

Speaker 3 (16:58):
But it's true you know, it.
You're laughing because youknow it.
People get stuck in it, I know.

Speaker 2 (17:03):
It's absolutely true.
I've not heard that before, soI absolutely love it.
It's absolutely true.
True, I've not heard thatbefore, and so I absolutely love
it.
I think I think there's abumper sticker coming out
shortly.

Speaker 3 (17:16):
Absolutely Don't get stuck in the hole.
But, michael, that's a questionfor you too, because this is
something that is real for you,right?
So how did you, how did you usevisioning, to get to where you
are?

Speaker 2 (17:28):
You know, honestly, I thought about what do I want?
And it's just like you said,not only did I go reverse
engineered, if you will, butthings just started opening up.
You know the Neurotalkinvitation, you know for the NEI
, and you know these things juststarted opening up.
You know the Neurotalkinvitation, you know for the NAI
, and you know these things.

(17:49):
Just they open up and theyhappen.
You know, if you're open tothem, obviously yeah, you know
so that's what I did.
Of course there's so manydifferent things.
When you, when you reverseengineer and they just start
opening up I mean I want tostart a podcast, reverse

(18:12):
engineered it, you know, and nowwe're I don't know 150 plus
thousand downloads and 103episodes and so on, you know.
So when you do that, it opensup those doors, just as you said
.

Speaker 3 (18:25):
Absolutely Well, and I love that you started right,
because so many times people arelike, oh well, that's too small
or gosh, I'm not far enoughalong yet, so they don't
actually take those steps.
But you got to remember,everybody starts small,
everybody starts with one stepand at some point you get to
150,000 downloads and you go,whoa, how'd that happen?

(18:46):
Right, but it's because youkept taking the steps.
You saw the vision, you knewwhere you wanted to go.
Right, and something that Ilove to share with folks too
about this is like when you useGPS in your car right, you want
to go somewhere.
What two things does it ask youfor?
Where do you want to be andwhere are you?
That's it right, and it goes.

(19:08):
Oh, okay, now that I know whereyou want to be, I'm going to
reverse engineer the directionsto get you from where you are to
where you want to be.
It doesn't go.
Oh my gosh, why are you there?
That place sucks, what.
How in the world did you getthat right?
But we do that to ourselves.
We go well, I want to be here,but I'm here.
And oh God, how did I get here?
And this is ridiculous, andwhat is wrong with me and we

(19:30):
start judging ourselves aboutthings instead of staying in the
energy of where we want to beand just recognizing okay, I've
got a ways to go, cool, whatsteps do I get to take that move
me closer?

Speaker 2 (19:44):
Yeah, absolutely.
And I want to add somethingwhen you start reverse
engineering it, talk to thepeople that you know, be
resourceful, reach out to thepeople that you know that can
get you there further faster.
So you just stop aiming the gunand you actually shoot the damn
gun.

Speaker 3 (20:02):
Absolutely.
How many times do we just keepaiming Okay, I'm going to get it
right, I'm going to get it justperfect.
But we never shoot.
And the next thing we knowwe're like oh, I guess it didn't
happen.

Speaker 2 (20:12):
Yeah, and then once you never did it all the butts
and the shits come into play.

Speaker 3 (20:17):
Right, we won't get into that right now, but yes,
the yeah, but I should have donethis, but I didn't do that and
it's like okay, enough, enough,cut it, cut the cord.

Shoot the gun and go.
And here's the thing I justwant to add to this.
I know we're getting a littleoff topic, just a little bit
here, but when you make thoselittle mistakes and you make
those mistakes by just takingthose little actions, learn from
them, and that's part of thejourney that you get to enjoy.
It's not I'm failing, it's notI screwed up, it's not I up,

(20:52):
it's man, I'm learning, I'mprogressing.
And this is how life is.
Enjoy the journey, part of it,because the final part, when you
cross the finish line, is thecelebration.
For how long?
A little while, and then you'regoing now.
What, right?
So the journey truly is theimportant part.
Not only are you going to takeso much from it and learn from

it for your vision of the nextthing you envision and you want
to move forward to, but it's soimportant because that will pull
you towards the next.

Speaker 3 (21:26):
Absolutely.
It is a journey Nobody.
Nobody jumps from point A topoint B like that, unless you're
Superman leaping.
You know buildings, but most ofus are not that right.
And so every but every step wetake, we can see further.
If you think about when you'redriving in the fog, you can only

(21:46):
see right in front of you.
If you never move, that's allyou ever see.
But if you can take just slowly, go forward a little bit more,
well then you see a little bitfurther in front of you and a
little bit further in front ofyou.
And so every time you take astep towards that vision that
you have, you're going to learnsomething, you're going to see
something different.
You're going to see furtherbeyond the horizon than you

(22:08):
could see before, right, and soit's really important to hold
the vision and assess okay,where am I along the pathway?
Because even when you'redriving, if you take a wrong
turn, you don't just stop thecar and go.
Well, I guess we're not goingwhere we're going.
I mean, gps goes correcting,take a U-turn, right.
I mean you hear, you can hearthe GPS going, take a U-turn in

(22:33):
2.5 miles.
You're like, oh crap, I got togo 2.5 miles out of my way.
Yeah, but you're going to getback to where you were.

Speaker 2 (22:37):
It's fine, right, it's no problem, so and and
maybe you're going to see orlearn something in that two and
a half extra miles that youdidn't know, that you're going
to use later in life.
I'm just saying Absolutely.
Absolutely.
You never know You're like I'vebeen craving ice cream.

Speaker 3 (22:52):
Oh my gosh, there's an ice cream stand.
Who knew I wouldn't have seenit if I didn't get off the
interstate.

Speaker 2 (22:57):
How many times have you done that in life really?
I mean, it's so often like ohman, this didn't work out, but
something else worked out evenbetter.

Speaker 3 (23:05):
Yeah, that you couldn't even have imagined or
known about ahead of time.

Speaker 2 (23:09):
Absolutely.
You know those little.
You talk about the fog and Ilove that analogy, by the way
but every time you get thatlittle bit further.
If you are off or you changeyour vision a little bit,
because you can choose to tweakyour vision and pivot a little
bit into something you want more, that you would love more, and

(23:29):
that little 2%, that little twomillimeter, that two inch little
shift in the steering wheel, ifyou will, with the fog and that
different direction that youreally want to be by those extra
, just little steps during thatvision quest, if you want to
call it that.

Speaker 3 (23:47):
Yeah, we really underestimate the tiny
millimeters, the distinctions,right, the little tweaks.
But over time, little tweak,little tweak, little tweak gets
you in a completely differentdirection, and so you just need
to be mindful of are the littletweaks that I'm doing bringing
me in the direction that I wantto go?
But and but, do the littletweaks, take the little steps,

(24:11):
because they'll move you in theright direction.
And you know, a lot of timestoo, we don't even realize, like
airline pilots.
Do you know they're like?
Off course, 95 percent of thetime.
Why would you?
I know?

Speaker 2 (24:23):
you're from the air force.
Don't tell me that stuff.

Speaker 3 (24:27):
Now that doesn't mean you're not safe when you're
flying.
It just means that if they getin, if they take off and they
say, okay, we're going to NewYork city from LA, right, great,
they set their course.
If they never adjust weatherblows them off, birds right,
everything gets in the way.
But you're constantly makinglittle shifts and so you're like

(24:48):
, oh nope, not that direction,let's go over here.
Let's go over here and you getto your destination safely and
on time.
But you have to consistently beadjusting.
And so it's the same thing likehold the vision of where you
want to be and then pop yourhead up once in a while and go
are we on course, are we goodhere?
Right, and then just just keepreiterating, keep iterating as

(25:10):
you move forward so that you getwhere you want to go.

Speaker 2 (25:13):
And, like you said, you know earlier, you know to
reassess, you know which, whichI think is fantastic.
And I want to also point outhow many times have you ended up
getting to that next locationearly on the airplane?
It also happens a lot, myfriends.
Actually happens a lot when you, when you have intent on, on
your vision.
That's for sure.
Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 3 (25:35):
And so much of the time, too, when we talk about
vision, we'd say, okay, I havethis thing that I want to meet,
I want to get a million dollars.
Right, maybe, that's it, I'mgoing to make a million dollars.
Well, what if you made two orthree?
Would that be okay?
I mean, it would be okay if youmade more.
Like no, no, no, no, no, notdoing that, just going to get $2

(25:56):
million, right.
So don't get so fixated on thething.
Really, try to imagine andenvision the experiences that
you want, the outcomes that youwant to be creating.
How do you want to be livingyour life?
Because you might surpriseyourself and hit the jackpot far
beyond what you would have ifyou had limited yourself to a

(26:19):
specific thing in a box.
It's really about how you wantto experience life, not the
thing that you want to get.

Speaker 2 (26:29):
Yeah, I love you.
Say that Really.
See it as it's already done,live it as it's already done.
Yeah, and the more you do that,the unit.
I'm going to get woo woo oneverybody, but this is this is
science.

Speaker 3 (26:42):

We met at an event that JosephMcClendon was holding, because
we both have a vision of helpingpeople and using brain science
to do it right and really usinghuman behavior for good, not for
bad, because a lot of timesit's used for bad right.
But we both have this vision ofhelping people elevate their
lives, and being part of theneuroencoding community was part
of how we wanted to do that andwe ended up meeting at this
event.
You have your podcast going on.
We start talking and sharingwith each other about our
mission and visions in life andit's like oh, you want to be on
the podcast?
Yeah, sounds good, and I thinkthis is no like eight or ten

Eight is familiar because Ithink I actually counted a while
ago six or six, I think it wassix and I think, yeah, I think
you rewind, yeah, you rewindtime though I.

I didn't know that I would be here doing this with

You didn't know that we wouldbe here doing this with you.
You didn't know that we wouldbe here creating whatever's
being created right now, like I,really we don't know Right, but
you show up in the vision ofwho you want to be and what you
want to create, and life unfoldsand enjoy the ride.

Amen, amen, absolutely love it.

I wanted to touch base on oneother question that I actually
did write, because we neveractually do that so, but I think
it's important to kind of closewith this, and this is rewiring
your brain.
So, with with neuro encodingbrain health, will you explain
how compelling vision can rewireour brain to foster success and

fulfillment?
I think it's super important.

Speaker 3 (28:46):
Yes, okay, so our brains are actually like AI
machines.
They're looking for patternsthat they recognize, okay, and
so your brain will filter outthings it doesn't recognize as
dangerous.
Don't do that.
I don't know what's on theother side of that, so don't go
there, right?
But if that's something thatyou really want, you need to be

(29:06):
able to create the memoriesright through visioning, so that
your brain has something torecognize, because it sees
things in images.
So, if you can imagine andvisualize what you really want,
the success you want to feel,the fulfillment, what brings me
fulfillment, your brain startsto then go okay, I can connect

(29:28):
to what those things are and itwill rewire how it sees
possibilities.
It will rewire how itrecognizes what's out there for
you, right, and so that is just.
We get to rewire ourselves,because here's the truth you are
wiring your brain every singlesecond of the day in one way or

(29:49):
the other.
Right?
Because be based on the waythat you're thinking about
things, based on the way thatwhat you're imagining and
envisioning.
So make a choice Do you want itto be what you really want, or
do you just want to stay stuckin fear of what's really want,
or do you just want to staystuck in fear of what's unknown
and unfamiliar to you.

Speaker 2 (30:14):
Yeah, and I'm going to say two things, if I can add
on to that.
First of all, just take onestep forward to break through
fear.
One step, celebrate it, all ofit.
Every time you have that vision, you see that vision.
You see it already done.
You take a step towards it.
You even think about it.
Every time you have that vision.
You see that vision, you see italready done.
You take a step towards it.
You even think about it.
Celebrate it, pat yourself onthe back, literally pat yourself
on the back, shake your ass.

(30:35):
I said that out loud, that'sokay, it's called astatude.
Let's continue.
It's called astatude, but itsends all those releases, all
those hormones, and your brainis saying what just happened?
I want more of it and you'll bemore cognizant of it, you will
pay attention to it more, youwill bring it more to you.
Um, and the rewiring, and evenmore so, the strengthening of

the neural pathways will happenfaster.
So absolutely yeah absolutely.
We're so past time.

Of course we are what's new, so I know right.

So, tina, give our veterans and their families
three tips to get further,faster, please.

Okay, three tips when it comes to visioning Feel and
imagine that it's alreadyhappened, exactly what you want.
Okay, so imagine it and feel itthat it's already happened.
Take one step in the direction,just one, and then another, and
then another, and you'll get towhere you want to go.

And I'm going to harp on whatyou just said the celebration.
Celebrate that, because whenyou celebrate, you're telling
your brain, ooh, something goodjust happened.
And it goes wait, what was it?
And it rewinds like amillisecond.
It goes oh, it's that thingthat happened right before you
celebrated.
Let's get more of that in ourlives, right?
So envision it, feel it as it'salready happened, take your
steps and then celebrate thatyou did it.

Can I add a fourth?
Add as many as you want, it'sstay out of the howl, stay out
of the howl stay out of the howlhole I had to bring that up
again, I guess I should havebrought that up too, right?
