This week on Your Trauma Talks, we shine the spotlight on the extraordinary Ishaa Vinod Chopra, author, artist, and mental health advocate whose life’s work blends resilience, creativity, and healing.

Ishaa is the author of "Finding Order in Disorder", a raw and moving memoir chronicling her journey through bipolar disorder, domestic abuse, and the transformative power of art therapy. Through dance, painting, yoga, and her deeply evocative “Mad Poetry,” she shares therapeutic tools that inspire both recovery and self-expression.

Coming from a renowned lineage of filmmakers, Ishaa infuses multidisciplinary arts into her advocacy, using creativity as both a personal refuge and a public platform for change. Her expertise spans a BFA in Performing Arts (Kathak), an Honours Diploma & Degree in Early Childhood Education from George Brown College, Toronto, and published work in AECEO’s eceLINK journal, mentored by Dr. Adam W.J. Davies.

As a Research Associate for the York University documentary project Unfinished and a Workman Arts Member Artist, Ishaa has facilitated dance therapy sessions blending Latin, Indian Classical, and Folk styles, and performed for the City of Toronto.

Founder of the Finding Order in Disorder NGO, she creates hybrid podcasts, therapeutic dance programs, and community engagement initiatives for mental well-being—while championing voices of those with lived experiences through digital storytelling.

Currently preparing to pursue a Master of Science in Critical Family & Kinship Studies with an interdisciplinary focus on Gender, Sexualities, and Bodies at the University of Guelph, Ishaa stands as a living testament to the power of turning pain into purpose.
