This week we rewatched The Cell with Jennifer Lopez and Vincent D'Onofrio. We talk about surrealism, tik tok, and the cultivation of raven familiars. But mostly, we talk about Vincent D'Onofrio's absolute chokehold over the vulnerable monster market. Join as we voluntarily enter The Cell.

You thought your Air BnB experience was a nightmare. And we're never the type to victim blame but I assure you, if we showed up to a rental and Pennywise answered the door, we'd sleep on the street before agreeing to share the place but that's not what our heroine did and that's not how any horror movie gets going, with a series of good decisions. We watched Barbarian and you should too. It's a great, creative, beautifully shot fil...

We ran up that hill to make a deal with God and we got him to swap our places. We watched Stranger Things and we learned some strange things about ourselves. Our love of Kate Bush was confirmed. Always trust a chaotic good metal head, an ingenious stoner, and a girl who knows to saw off a shot gun. What song would bring us out of Vecna's embrace and would we want to leave it? Join us on our strange journey, if you only could.

This episode we cover Our Flag Means Death, a pirate comedy that will unexpectedly break your heart. Are there amazing cameos? Absolutely. Are there gay pirates, full tea services on ships, telepathic seagulls? Of course. We discuss all the important themes, are pirates the punk rockers of the 17th century? Is this the original when Bowie met Iggy Pop on the high seas? Are you the Calico Jack of your friend group? Join us as we des...

Keeping our fingers firmly on the pulse, knowing awards season is just around the corner, we watched The Labyrinth! From 1986? The Jim Henson film? Yes, the very same. Have you seen it before? Hundreds of times and yet, we watched it again for the sheer joy of it. We talk about the origin story, the making of, helpful facts of course but also, wildly unbelievable fan theories. Could you say we weave through a Labyrinth of our own d...

This week we watched the movie, "The Eyes of Tammy Faye." Having both watched the documentary, there was not much to learn, but the performances were fantastic. We talk about crafting yourself as a commodity in America and the downside when you don't deliver on your own product. We also get into doomsday prepping, underwater caving, and the legacy of puppets. Join as we look through our own eyes at The Eyes of Tammy Faye.

For the first movie of the year, we treated ourselves to a pricy rental. "Last Night in Soho," is the latest from Edgar Wright and is a beautifully styled, throwback thriller. It's not just the aesthetics that seem vintage, but it borrows from classic psychological thrillers visually and thematically. It answers the question, how difficult is it for a psychic to live in a city with a brutal history? Very difficult. Join us as we ta...

This episode we watched the film It Follows about a young woman who is trying to outrun the consequences of an ill-fated one night stand. Sadly, a round of antibiotics and a pint of ice cream will not suffice when you are facing what appears to be some kind of sex demon after a lackluster sexual encounter. Luckily, Jay has a group of great friends who help her try and survive the monster with many faces. Join us on our meandering j...

This week we watch A24's latest offering Lamb with Noomi Rapace. It is modern folktale that follows a grieving couple as they welcome their newest arrival. While we go through several theories that include telekinesis, we mostly admire a gentle horror that is more in line with the Grim Brothers than Carpenter. Some come to our meadow and frolic with us and the lambs. .

After revisiting David Lynch's Dune in an earlier podcast, we were very eager to watch Denis Villenueve's offering and it did not disappoint. This movie is crammed with so much talent, elegant styling, haunting atmospheres and apparently every Zaddy they could find available. Not that we forgot about sweet Timmy of course. It is a promising start and hopefully they'll be able to film the second part soon, because we can't wait to ...

This week on the pod we cover Squid Game and we managed to keep all our organs. We ask the hard questions, would a bowel movement count as movement during red light, green light? What kind of trauma would cause you to choose boy band burgundy as a makeover hairdo? And also, can anyone be ethical when the game itself is corrupt? We also talk about Squid Game.

We watched the newest in the Mike Flanagan horror anthology and just like a Priest wandering the desert, we were in for a rude surprise. While we had different reactions to this miniseries, we could agree there were a few flaws. Always glad to hear Neil Diamond, that is what we could firmly agree on. So join us as we plod through this long, dreary trek through the promised land where we find out if our communion wine has been spike...

As we're entering fall, we're starting our "Could it be we're falling in love with movies" era and watching some of our favorite films starting with the cinematic masterpiece Showgirls. A film that manages to have made all the wrong choices and yet is so earnest, so wrong, it's won a place a in our hearts. We have a scrappy young woman who claws her way to the top of Las Vegas Nightlife with her own determination and nail art, over...

So this week we reviewed Annette and if you're looking for an unbiased review, you are not going to receive one. Blinded by our devotion to all things weird, Adam Driver's inexplicable charisma and Sparks charming score, it was difficult to watch this film with a critical lens. Were there flying puppets? Maybe. Were indulgent mistakes made? Who knows? Would we have watched 15 more hours of whatever was happening during this film? A...

In our continuing series Summertime Sadness, your Auntie Ruth suggested that Auntie Jeanna watch all 2 hours and 15 minutes of Dune, the 1984 version. So what would happen if you took a saga with as much material as Game of Thrones, and tried to condense it into one film? Wonder no longer, because Dune took on that challenge. While David Lynch was not given full control, hours of footage were cut, and what we are left with is some ...

So, we're entering into our Summertime Sadness series where Auntie Ruth and I choose movies that the other has never seen and we have the suspicion they may not like. While we are alike in almost every way, there are a few things we disagree on, and just like two freckled chicks without sunscreen, we've decided to take it up a notch and make this summer miserable. Now, we reviewed Crimson Peak which for reasons unknown, and loving ...

So for our last episode of Pride we get to reclaim Jennifer's Body. A film that has been resurrected much like Jennifer herself and achieved cult status over the years. It follows the path of a friendship that is severely tested by demon possession, but along the way shows the strength of the bonds formed between young women and the hell of being a teenaged girl.
