This week on Y’s Guys, Dave McCann and Blaine Fowler recap BYU’s dominant 69–0 win over Portland State and preview the Cougars’ Saturday night showdown with Stanford. True freshman quarterback Bear Bachmeier made history by starting—and starring—in his first game, accounting for five total touchdowns, while running back LJ Martin racked up 131 yards on just eight carries. Kicker Will Ferrin nailed a 56-yard field goal into the wind, extending his record streak to 18 straight. With a packed house of 64,494 fans and a suffocating defense that allowed just 51 total yards, Cougar Nation couldn’t have asked for a better start to the season.

Looking ahead, the Cardinal come to Provo for an ESPN primetime matchup at LaVell Edwards Stadium. BYU leads the series 2–1, and after Stanford’s season-opening loss to Hawaii, the Cougars enter favored by more than two touchdowns. Coach Kalani Sitake shares his thoughts from the week’s media session, while Blaine breaks down his keys to the game. Fans can expect full coverage with BYUSN GameDay from Cougar Canyon and inside LES, followed by live postgame analysis.

The episode also features two standout guests. Former BYU baseball coach and MLB All-Star Vance Law reflects on his playing career, his father Vern’s legacy, his years coaching the Cougars, and the life lessons learned from sports. Later, Diljeet Taylor, head coach of the No. 1 ranked BYU women’s cross country team, previews the season, introduces top recruit Jane Hedengren, and discusses how her program has built a national championship culture.

The Re-Lyte Athlete of the Week, presented by Redmond, spotlights senior kicker Will Ferrin, who calmly extended his streak of consecutive field goals and PATs. Plus, the show recaps national rankings for BYU’s cross country, soccer, and volleyball teams, highlights Cougar performances in the NFL preseason, and shares an inspirational quote from J. Reuben Clark about the value of hard work. Y’s Guys continues to deliver the most-watched collegiate sports livestream on YouTube—connecting fans, athletes, and tradition every Monday night.

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
