Welcome back to The YYC Popcast, season 2!
It's been a long 4 months and I couldn't be more excited to start off season 2 with none other than the incredible, Platinum-selling, Canadian singer and songwriter, Jocelyn Alice!
Jocelyn talks about the 6 year journey to release her highly anticipated single “How Do You Not Know,” made famous by her time on NBC’s “Songland.” We also delve into the dark side of social media and how it's ok for artists, and anyone, to take time off to take care of yourself, heal and deal with trauma, before moving forward with something or creating art. It's a fun, heartfelt, heart wrenching and very honest convo, with one of Calgary finest!
Platinum-certified pop songstress Jocelyn Alice has sparked a musical resurgence with her latest single ‘How Could You Not Know’ released via So This Is Music and 745 Music Inc. Alice originally debuted the track as one of the finalists of NBC’s hit show Songland, where it was pitched as a potential cut for guest artist and 10x GRAMMY nominee H.E.R. Alice partnered with acclaimed songwriter and producer Shane McAnally, whose numerous credits include cuts with Kelsea Ballerini, Reba McEntire, Kacey Musgraves and more, and while another track on the show won out in the end, McAnally decided to stay on board and produce ‘How Could You Not Know’. The culminating song is a groovy and soulful blend of Alice’s diverse performance style, vocal range and songwriting abilities, as much at home on an R&B playlist as it is pure Top 40 magic, and serves as the first release from her forthcoming album due in 2022.
