Hall & Oates are the biggest selling American duo in music history. Let that just marinate for a second. The iconic pair made waves through the 70s and 80s with songs like ‘She’s Gone,’ ‘Rich Girl,’ ‘Private Eyes,’ ‘Maneater,’ and ‘I Can’t Go For That (No Can Do),’ to name a scant few, and while they continued to release albums well into their fourth decade, by 2023 they were locked in an acrimonious lawsuit with regards to Oates wanting to sell his stake in their business partnership. As of August 2025 the charttopping duo have resolved the issue, but this is of course a topic we touched upon when the legendary guitarist and songwriter stopped by the studio for the first time.
Where his last solo album was an exploration of his folk/blues/Americana roots, for his newly released seventh record, Oates, he pulls from his more groove-based back catalog, teaming up with and being inspired by young artists like Lawrence and Devon Gilfillian. As well as discussing all this, he also shares once in a lifetime encounters with Madonna, Andy Warhol, and Michael Jackson, the power music and visuals (in particular pertaining to 500 Days of Summer), his time as an Anteater on The Masked Singer (no, really), the stories behind songs like ‘Rich Girl,’ and their second LP Abandoned Luncheonette, plus so much more.

Cardiac Cowboys
The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
