En mayo de 2014 la “existencia” de Slenderman tomó un giro inesperado. En el condado de Waukesha en Wisconsin, una ciclista que circulaba por una calle de este condado encontró a una niña pidiendo auxilio porque estaba gravemente herida. Se trataba de Payton Leutner –quien tenía 12 años–, y había sido apuñalada por su mejor amiga Morgan Geyser. Por que slanderman se lo habia pedido.
