Francisco nos pregunta: ¿dónde quedó aquel David valiente, aquel que respetaba incluso a Saúl, su enemigo, porque era el ungido de Dios? ¿Qué pasó con ese corazón noble? La respuesta es dura: David se reblandeció. Se sintió seguro, poderoso, intocable. Y ahí, en esa seguridad, el pecado dejó de ser un tropiezo para convertirse en algo más peligroso: corrupción.
Esto es lo que el Papa quiere que entendamos: el pecado es humano, todos caemos alguna vez. Pero la corrupción es otra cosa. Es cuando el pecado se vuelve un estilo de vida, cuando nos acostumbramos a él, cuando ya no sentimos la necesidad de pedir perdón. Es como si el corazón se endureciera, se cerrara a la gracia. Y lo más inquietante es que nadie está exento. Como dice Francisco, la corrupción es un riesgo para todos los que tenemos algún tipo de poder: ya sea en la Iglesia, en la política, en la empresa, o incluso en nuestra propia casa.
Pero aquí viene la esperanza, porque esta historia no termina en la oscuridad. Dios amaba tanto a David que no lo abandonó. Envió al profeta Natán para que fuera como un espejo, para que David viera su propio rostro y reconociera su falta. Y David, al fin, lloró, dijo “he pecado” y empezó a reconstruir su camino.
