Özgürce'nin bu bölümünde Metin Özkay hocamla birlikte Türkiye tarihinin önemli ve acı olaylarından 6-7 Eylül 1955 Pogromu'nu derinlemesine inceliyoruz. Bu yıl 70. yıl dönümünü geride bıraktığımız bu olaylar dizisi, Selanik'te Atatürk'ün evine atılan bomba haberiyle tetiklenmiş, İstanbul'daki gayrimüslim azınlıklara (Rum, Ermeni, Yahudi) yönelik şiddet, yağma ve yıkımla sonuçlanmıştır.
Programımızda, bu olayların ardındaki politik ve sosyal dinamiklere, 1934 Trakya Olayları ve 1942 Varlık Vergisi gibi önceki travmalarla bağlantısına değiniyoruz. İnsanların neden evlerini terk etmek zorunda kaldığını, yaşanan şiddetin boyutlarını ve azınlıkların maruz kaldığı yabancılaştırma sürecini tarihsel belgeler ışığında masaya yatırıyoruz.
Aynı zamanda, bir Hristiyan bakış açısıyla bu tür acılara nasıl yaklaşmamız gerektiğini, Kutsal Kitap'ın düşmanı sevme ve affetme öğretilerini tartışıyoruz. Affetmenin sadece mağdur için değil, aynı zamanda nefret ve öfke yükünden kurtulup özgürleşmek için ne kadar hayati olduğunu vurguluyoruz. Tarihten ders çıkarmanın ve geçmiş hataları tekrarlamamanın önemini de bu kapsamda değerlendiriyoruz.

The Brothers Ortiz is the story of two brothers–both successful, but in very different ways.
