Bergsportler und Bergsporterlinnen aus Ost und West wollen den über 7000 Meter hohen Pik Lenin besteigen. Unter ihnen befindet sich auch die erfahrene Amerikanerin Arlene Blum. Die Stimmung im Camp ist gut, alle sind motiviert. Doch schon bald fordert der Berg die ersten Opfer. Und dann bricht auch noch der schlimmste Sturm seit 25 Jahren über den Pik Lenin herein. Arlene und viele andere sind plötzlich schutzlos den eisigen Naturgewalten ausgesetzt.
