Ο Χρήστος Χωμενίδης θυμάται ότι στα σχολικά χρόνια η εμφάνισή του είχε καθορίσει τη μοίρα του: το ύψος, το μαλλί-αφάνα, το ντύσιμό του: «Θυμάμαι στο σχολικό πούλμαν να βαδίζω στον διάδρομο και χέρια να απλώνονται, να πιάνουν και να ανακατεύουν τα μαλλιά μου. «Θάμνο!» να με φωνάζουν και «Ζουλού!» και «Λευκό Αραπάκι!». Η καζούρα ήταν κάτι που απασχολούσε μόνο τα παιδιά: οι δάσκαλοι πίστευαν ότι η κοινωνία των παιδιών αυτορρυθμίζεται και κανένα παιδί δεν ήθελε να ανακατευτούν οι γονείς του σε τέτοια θέματα. Σήμερα, ως πατέρας μικρής κόρης, ο Χρήστος Χωμενίδης πιστεύει ότι «πρέπει να προστατεύουμε τα πιο αδύνατα παιδιά από το μπούλινγκ αλλά να αφήσουμε τα βλαστάρια μας να μάθουν να διεκδικούν τον ζωτικό τους χώρο και να προετοιμαστούν για τις συνθήκες της ενήλικης ζωής».
