Ця проповідь на основі Євангелія від Матвія 22:1–14 відкриває перед нами притчу про весільну гостину - глибоку історію про Божу благодать і відповідальність людини перед Ним. Ісус розповідає її напередодні Своїх страждань, нагадуючи: Його місія - не похорон, а весілля, де Сам Божий Син є Нареченим, а Його наречена - Церква.
Господь запрошує всіх на Свій небесний бенкет: юдеїв і поган, «злих і добрих». Але не всі відповідають. Одні зневажають запрошення, інші відкидають слуг і вбивають пророків. Та справжня трагедія не лише в байдужості, а й у фальшивій побожності. Ісус попереджає: не досить бути серед гостей, не досить навіть мати вигляд віруючого - потрібно бути «весільно одягненим», тобто зодягненим у праведність Христа.
Фальшивий християнин може знати Писання, брати участь у Богослужіннях і навіть чинити добро, але без віри серця він стоїть перед Богом оголеним. Лише той, хто вірою зодягнувся у Христа, має участь у Його Царстві.
Проповідь завершується закликом: не задовольняймося зовнішнім християнством, але шукаймо справжньої віри, що народжується з благодаті. Бо «багато покликаних, та вибраних мало». І сьогодні час спасіння, коли Бог ще кличе кожного до Своєї весільної радості.
