תקציר: הרמב"ם פותח בביאור המונח "צלם", ותחילה בא להוציא מההבנה החמורה שיצאה ממחשבה שמשמעותו היא תואר ותבנית חיצונית בלבד, דהיינו שבשל לשון הכתוב "נעשה אדם בצלמנו כדמותנו" הסיקו מזה שיש לה' תבנית אברי גוף כתבניתו של האדם חלילה וחס. אחר, הרמב"ם מלמד כי המונח "צלם" מופיע במקרא במשמעות של ה'נפש האנושית', 'ההשגה האנושית' ומלמד שזהו ה"צלם" האלוקי שנברא לאדם. בהמשך הפרק (שיבואר בשיעור הבא), העוסק במשמעות המונח "דמות" נלמד מדוע צלם זה אלוקי הוא ובמה הוא דומה לצלמו של אלוהים.
