گل شیپوری بومی نواحی آفریقای جنوبی است. دارای ریزوم‌های ضخیم و دمگل قوی و بلند است. گل‌ها شبیه شیپور بوده و نظیر تمامی گیاهان تیره آذین آن چمچه است. چون این گیاه مخصوص مناطق مرطوب و شرجی می‌باشد. بنابراین هنگام خرید اطمینان حاصل کنید که شرایط محیطی لازم برای پرورش این گیاه را دارید
این گل بسیار بزرگ، سفید رنگ و قیف مانند است. در داخل آن میلچه یا اسپادیکس گرز مانند زرد رنگی قرار دارد و در اواسط تابستان شکفته می‌شود. برگ آن همیشه سبز، نیمه راست، کمانی شکل و به رنگ سبز تیره است.
این گل زیبا دارای رنگ‌های مختلف می‌باشد و ریشه آن غده‌ای می‌باشد و برای تزیین تپه گل‌ها و حاشیه‌ها یک گل ایده آل است.
