ابوالحسن بنی‌صدر، کسی که روزگاری به عنوان یکی از یاران نزدیک آیت الله خمینی شناخته میشد و در زمره انقلابیون قرار داشت، حالا داشت کم کم به یکی از اصلی‌ترین مخالفای نظام جمهوری اسلامی تبدیل میشد. از همان بچگی، زندگی بنی‌صدر پر از تناقضات بود. پدر روحانی، محیط خانه ای ضد آخوند، تفکرات چپ گرا و سوسیالیستی، همه و همه پر از تناقضاتی بود که اون رو به یک چهره پیچیده و مبهم تو تاریخ ایران تبدیل کرده بود. حالا هم طوفانی در حال شکل‌گیری بود که پایان خوشی برایش نداشت و قرار بود ریاست اولین رئیس جمهور ایران ناتمام باقی بماند.
