جستجوی آب حیات قدمتی هم اندازه تاریخ مکتوب بشر داره. پونس در لیان دریانورد اسپانیایی برای پیدا کردن چشمه جوانی راهی قاره تازه کشف شده آمریکا شد اما موفق نشد و در عوض ایالت فلوریدارو کشف کرد. شاهزاده چینی از طرف پادشاه مامور به کشف چشمه جوانی شد اما اون هم موفق نشد و در عوض سرزمین ژاپن و کره رو کشف کرد. هنوز انسان دست از این تلاشها برنداشته.
در سیلیکون ولی جایی که غول های فناوری دنیا مشغول به کارند استارتاپهای مختلفی به دنبال جاودانه کردن انسان نامیرا کردن انسان هستند. خیلی از این کمپانی ها به دنبال سرنخ هایی در طبیعت میگردند. اما متاسفانه در طبیعت هم تقریبا همه چیز با مرگ همراهه. ولی سال ۱۹۸۰ دو تا دانشجوی بیولوژی اقیانوس، زیست شناسی اقیانوس به صورت تصادفی کشفی رو انجام دادند که همه دانشمندارو انگشت به دهان کرد. اونها عروس دریایی رو کشف کردن که نامیرا بود. یعنی هیچ وقت به خاطر گذر عمر و پیری نمیمرد. این اتفاق امیدهارو برای نامیرا کردن انسان تقویت کرد. تو این اپیزود میخوایم در مورد نامیرایی صحبت کنیم.
