香港特首李家超上周突然前往北京述職，獲國家主席習近平接見。會面完成後被傳媒問到，才交代有向習近平匯報香港錄得龐大財政赤字。
參考當年董建華落台，他最後一次述職是在2004年12月。當時，他在北京向時任國家主席胡錦濤及總理溫家寶述職。胡錦濤對董建華的評價相對正面，讚揚他「努力推進經濟發展，保持香港穩定」，並肯定他在「一國兩制」方針下的工作表現。然而，到2005年3月10日，董建華就因健康問題，特別是膝蓋疼痛，宣布辭去香港特首職務。這距離他述職時間約3個月。
正在就財政預算案進行公眾諮詢的財政司司長陳茂波，他在網誌表示「必須更謹慎管理好公共財政」、「在一段期間內」會達至收支平衡，與他早前聲稱「三數年內回復收支平衡」，以及李家超在北京述職時所講的「在三至五年內收支平衡」，明顯有所不同。
到底香港財政赤字問題，會否成為香港管治團隊再換馬的契機？李家超的大限，又是否在幾個月後，即人大政協兩會舉行之時？
